There are lots of ways coronavirus can spread, in which Chinese paper currencies one of them. From paper money, it can spread from where to where no one can imagine. So what?  ??? ???
 
Now a report shows (https://news.bitcoin.com/china-cash-virus/) that the Chinese government has taken action against circulation of paper money in order the disinfected fiat cash will also need to be kept in quarantine for 7 to 14 days before reintroduced to the public, with the time bills are kept in isolation varying from region to region according to its level of infection with the virus.

So now the countries that are exchanging Chinese paper money have to pay more attention to protect their peoples. :'( :'(

This is not new, its a realistic concern.

Sounds like a good excuse to ban cash and force everyone to use digital currencies where every penny is tracked.

I agree. The dangerous cash should all be remitted to a safe haven, a place where it can be carefully watched and sterilized.

Why not just like, burn the money that they think is infected and print the same amount more? Is it really that costly that they want to quarantine it to be tested and then put it back into circulation, seems kinda stupid to me.

It is nonsense. They could simply use chemical or UV disinfectant. Like I said, this just sounds like a good pretext for banning cash money and stripping more freedoms as usual.

Seems like they'd need some machines that would lay the bills out flat for a spray or chem process, then gather them back up. Existing paper handling equipment could be modified to do that. If they didn't have enough such equipment or if it wasn't deployed to where ever bills are sent, then this would be a bottleneck in circulating cash.

Another way (my preference) would be just to tell people who get cash to use such processes.

If this were the simplest solution, then I think they would have done so.

What's going to be next? Corona Virus travelling down electrical cables and infecting people as they charge their Tesla cars. Or maybe a virus will start to use satellite links or teleportation.

This is really serious, if the virus can be transmitted through money, then it means it can be transmitted through any object., so it literally means that cashless policy has to be adopted anyways.

This is asinine. You can't ban all physical items, so banning physical cash is pointless. This is just a transparent pretext to get rid of cash, and strip the rights of the general population. Of course people such as yourself will lap up this excuse and cheer for your own enslavement.

That's the Chinese way eh? Literally using facial recognition scanners to track where people are, reporting whereabouts to the communist party (this is done all the time too, as you have to use your ID card like literally everywhere and the employees are obligated to note down all this info) Literally just following the people at every turn, and ensuring that every single one of them listens to the government.

The amount of human rights abuses that we ignore in China are disgusting, and we ignore it because it's good for business. What a disgusting thing everyone in the world does just so everyone can make a few bucks.
