Title: Top helpers of this forum
Post by: USBitcoinServices.Com on March 03, 2020, 09:09:27 PM
Members of this forum may vote to select a few of these members in order to become candidates to support the currently active and busy staff? so there will be more hands to manage this forum.

If you were to nominate those top contributors here on this forum according to how often they help others with solutions, answering questions, who they would be?
Also, you can nominate those you consider are clever and impeccable with their words/answers they provide and they deserve to be recognized for that talent.

By now I will nominate DdmrDdmr for bein active on this forum helping others. I have seen him on many different sections but first I found him on the beginners and help section. He has a good initiative to keep local forums active. You can suggest and send some as well. By now here some of them:

DdmrDdmr
Jet Cash
Yogi
Shorena
LFC_Bitcoin
numanoid
dbshck
LoyceV
VB1001
gmaxwell
yahoo62278

Suggested:

nullius, oeleo, TMAN, Mitchell, filippone, marlboroza, xtraelv, el_duderino, Foxpup, theymos

achow101, mocacinno, nc50lc, pooya87, o_e_l_e_o, ETFbitcoin, Abdussamad, HCP, TryNinja, Pmalek, Lucius

QS, Mikeywith

If you want to find out the top merited users or topics, it all starts here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats

Stop hunting for merit.

You can add QS to your list. There are other problems with your list such as the fact that satoshi hasn’t logged into his satoshi account in nearly a decade.

plus one for these words (I have no smerits for this post)

I think OP, the user @USBitcoinServices.Com it can take a little breath and slow down. has been more than active in recent days, wake up some old and dead discussions, burst posting. You can do it better.

then...

Quote
you can probably follow and learn from their quality daily posts.

Then your list just has Satoshi, who hasn't logged into this forum for 10 years now.

While some of these users are indeed helpful, they are both being rewarded and rewarding everyone else with sMerits as well. I honestly don't see the point of this thread.

Mm hmm.  That was my first thought as well.

If I thought this thread was worth voting on, my vote would probably be for Jet Cash.  He's gone way out of his way to help newbies with a lot of stuff, including better English on a website that he created just for that purpose.  That didn't really catch on, but he definitely has a helping mentality.

OP was on my ignore list, btw.  I don't know where he's coming from by starting this thread, but I don't think we need another popularity contest here.

mikeywith posts endless help for miners with issues.

surprised he was left out.

I would mention myself but It would not be true for 2020 and 2019.

although I did a lot of help for people from 2013 to 2017.

Would you mind if I will be the one hunt? I needed Merits to get sMerits. LOL. Another ✌😂

Errr.  What's with this thread? We surely already know who those users are, IMO. We also have tons (just making it big) of threads who Identifies each recognitions, ranks, and what so ever thing we have on stats. So really and sorry can't find this useful IMO.

OP was on my ignore list, btw.  I don't know where he's coming from by starting this thread, but I don't think we need another popularity contest here.
From what I know the voting poll of TOAA isn't yet finished. So I guess we really are having a lot of running contests here.

I'd add some names I see a lot and they're not already on this topic (in no particular order) : achow101, mocacinno, nc50lc, pooya87, o_e_l_e_o, ETFbitcoin, Abdussamad, HCP, TryNinja, Pmalek, Lucius
There are a lot of helpful people around, everybody's "list" depend a lot on the subforums he visits the most.

edit: I tend to agree that this may be OP's attempt to snatch some extra merit. On the other hand I think that these guys (and/or girls) do merit some "extra" recognition.

Not sure if they really want any recognition for what they do since all of them, I'm sure, are crypto enthusiasts and are always eager to discuss stuff related to it either by helping someone or just discussing some stuff in a general manner.
But, you for sure wanted, and tried your best to get the most out of this post by licking the *beep* of all of them with the name mentioning there.  :P
That's some nasty move to get some Merits lad.  :P

So:

Writing long posts + posting mostly in the "popular" parts of the forum = most helpful  ??? I think half of that list don't even leave other sometimes...

No hcp or achow101?

I’ve met a number of people off the forum, I’ve had help from many members but the one guy who has physically helped me several times is achow101.

I sent a number of bitcoin’s worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from one address to a new wallet. As I sent them my fucking internet died. The bitcoin’s were deducted from my wallet but not showing in the desired new address.

As you can imagine I was fucking petrified. Any way, achow101 told me to sendrawtransaction in the debug log & simple, the transaction was broadcasted.

He’s helped me with other tech stuff too over the years. He’s the most knowledgable poster regarding Bitcoin Core & I’m tempted to say he’s the most important poster here, certainly from my experience.

Added to the suggestions. Do you think some of those members can be voted and become part of the forum's staff, by now they can become candidates and the staff will choose them later when they need more hands to manage this forum?

Usually, new staff is only added when needed for some board and the candidates are usually the ones with the biggest number of valid reports. Not necessarily the most "helpful" ones.

How could I be angry at a response to a joke of which I have no deep commitment? To act in such a way would be an act of severe insecurity and as you know, no user of Bitcoin has ever retaliated in an insecure fashion. To fathom such a premise would be an impossibility.

Now watch as all the insecurities pour out when people read it and falsely attribute it to themselves, when in reality, the statement is aimed at no one in particular. [/quote]I AM HIGHLY INSECURE AND DO NOT READ THROUGH POSTS I HAVE QUOTED IN THEIR ENTIRETY

@Vod - to repeat the old joke. Love is a fellow feeling, and jealousy is another fellow feeling. There seems to be a certain amount of jealousy in this forum.

To return to the OP - Bitcoin Talk is an interesting site. Superficially it is a crypto forum, but it has developed into a broad community with a variety of special interest groups. There is considerable help within these groups ( as well as the forum in general), and much of this remains unnoticed. I did start a number of associated sites to help new members, and I have rather neglected them due to RL demands. I have a number of elderly friends, and I am massively distressed by the way they are being destroyed by Big Pharma, The Bankers, The vaxxers, and the misguided green activists amongst others. This has taken me away from some of my internet activities.

I would like to thank JackG for continuing to give me advice and discussions in the Crypto Coin Tree chat room. I stated this foe legendaries and merit sources, but it seems to have become a private discussion room for Jack and myself. No members have been deleted, so anyone who has registered is welcome to return. I have had some requests to revive the Fit to Talk English site, and I would like to do that. Please give me a week or so to sort out some minor problems, and to revive the registration process there.

I'm more interested in learning, information dissemination, and experimentation, and I welcome any suggestions about ways I can help with this in the forum. I'm fairly minor in the anti-spam world, as I just put people on ignore, but sometimes my index pages show that half the threads are to be ignored. Maybe I should be more active, as I think I am missing out by ignoring so much.

People who handle complains, reports and do other things to help the forum be "a better world" (as possible) won't have so much time to post / help others. So it would be a waste.
Also I am not aware if more staff is needed, it's not up to us to decide / vote.
And if there are open spots, you should ask them if they want to go that path.

So, l as you can see, it doesn't matter what "I think" on this matter  ;)

I think in this forum their have own contribution base on his way and skills. You can't determine who is the best or who is more better... If you ask me for the top helpers for this forum, I will say all of members who didn't break the rules in this forum and have high quality post .

By now I will nominate DdmrDdmr for bein active on this forum helping others. I have seen him on many different sections but first I found him on the beginners and help section. He has a good initiative to keep local forums active.

As you said, you only active in B&H section... If you active in Development and Techinal sections, maybe you will say @nc50lc is the top helpers in this forum.

I agree @DdmrDdmr is the top helpers in B&H section, he also quick and very well post. I'm not suprised if @DdmrDdmr can be moderator in B&H section, since @MiningBuddy is not active for past 2 years.

While we're on it, I would appreciate it if theymos could do us all a favor and spend some time to post an updated list of the top reporters in this forum. I know I had been part of such posts long ago having a large number of reports but these stats are available only to theymos and hence hard to compare. The fact that there was an endless stream of report-worthy content here actually used to drive me crazy but thankfully as of lately the spambots have somehow been curbed. Reports are now not any more lost in an endless sea of spam.

A list for the most 'helpful' people of the forum could be compiled on several criteria. I think reports is a useful one but due to it being private it's impossible to track any progress.

It is possible that the OP has good intentions, but it is also possible that it is only trying to catch some merits, but we can not be entirely sure what this is really about. In any case I think such topic is not suitable for Meta, it may eventually be moved in Reputation or Off-topic.

Those who help the forum in any way don't ask for rewards for it, although most have the privilege of participating in top signature campaigns, to be mods/staff, or to be selected in DT.

~snip~

You have no reason to feel bad, this is not about any official list that should mean anything. If you did something good for the forum, you also did something good for yourself, and the reward is that you probably saved many inexperienced forum members from being scammed. Sometimes it's not all about the money, merits, status, rank...

Eh being a Staff Member and being a helpful member are different things. They are not exclusive.

A staff has to go through threads reading all the cesspool of posts and then evaluate if they are spam or not if reported. They are always at high risk of getting malware from links posted here. Fortunately the members here dont see those because they are removed quickly, again because of the efforts of the staff.

Dont mean to be rude to the OP, but every member of this forum is a potentially a person who can help you with something. Making a list of people whom one sees as helpful is a subjective approach to something that is not humanely possible to do and thus a failure.

Sorry to say, but if you are doing it for money, then you are doing it wrong.
I dedicated every day many hours in chasing spammers, reporting, but I do not expect anything for my time spent here (not exactly true, I actually feel good while doing it). Well, I joined signature campaign but this does not reflect the time I use to report, connect accounts, browse spreadsheets, compare posts etc. so I don't take it as a payment for what i report. It's just a side earnings from my activity in here. Before I joined the campaign I did the same.
Putting a nail in the coffin of the old baking system and moving to a mass adoption should be enough reward :)

I was doing the same thing as usual reporting abusers on the thread and a manager told me "great help me on find the abusers and I will pay at the end the bounty".
I've continued to report abusers even after this never kept promised and I've never did for money lol.

+2 MinerJones and Krogothmanhattan

They both should be added. They do a tremendous amount of work helping others in collectibles and with escrow services. Minerjones gets almost every single noob collector off their feet and running in a difficult to learn hobby and sometimes difficult crowd. The same goes for Krogo. He also goes well out of his way to help noobs, and does a ton in terms of scam busting / warning posts. Both have pinned threads in collectibles and krogo started both the scam coin maker list and Casascius Fakes list (featured on the Casascius uber bills website and even seen it posted in various news articles).

Indeed, selecting top helpers maybe is not an easy task for mods/staff here, unless there is a system that can help them to filter many things from members like quality posts, helping to answer questions, comments without hate, respecting members, providing solutions or alternatives, positive thinking, etc, there are so many parameters to be considered if choosing top helpers were a goal.
