Title: Would You Rent A Car With Bitcoin?
Post by: SoloTraveler777 on March 04, 2020, 12:04:41 PM
Hi guys, I'm working in the travel industry and recently found some global online travel agencies such as EasyRentCars start getting into crypto payments. I wonder how many crypto owners would be more interesting to purchase the service if the company accepts cryptocurrency? Would that be an effective feature?

Not for me at least. When I rent abroad I'm paying through the local portal at home so there's no exchange rate hassle. Also in many a place you can't have a car without them taking a large deposit on a credit card so they can steal it off you later. Not sure how many rental places would want to give that up.

Totally agree ! The rental companies always try to get something extra out of you - fuel , insurance, non existent damage . With crypto they will have to chase you and not just take the money automatically.

I think it is not refundable when you rent a car with bitcoin. Right after I read this topic, I make a research and found this out https://www.e-zrentacar.com/blog/paying-for-your-car-rental-with-bitcoin/ (https://www.e-zrentacar.com/blog/paying-for-your-car-rental-with-bitcoin/) .Yes I get the point of not bringing large amount of money on your pocket but I am still wondering what would I feel if bitcoin price rises. Of course I'll first regret because if I used fiat instead of crypto in that car rental, I already gain profit in my bitcoin.

Personally, it's going do depend on some few things. Though I personally very rarely rent cars, if I would rent one and if I knew this one car rental agency accepts bitcoin, I'd probably go with that one just for funsies. If I'd personally frequently rent cars, me paying with bitcoin vs fiat really depends on bitcoin's price at the time of the rental. If bitcoin's price are quite low,  I'd definitely use fiat.

Of course there could be some interest in we are going to pay or use our BTC. That's what we are all looking for right? bitcoin be adopted and used just like any currency. However, still depends on the price though, I would rather hold my bitcoin during a bull run, just saying.

I would say it depend on where am I since if there's a chance to pay with bitcoins in some countries when traveling abroad then it's ok since it can minimize the hassle to pay up by exchanging their native currency but if I'm just on my local place then it's a now since I always prefer to pay on everything since I feel comfortable by using it.

I would love to also when we are going to use it for quick transportation. Im looking forward too, when crypto will be incorporated on famous car service such as Grab, or Uber (Though Uber has been removed now in our Country). But for the sake of bitcoin potential value to rise, I think I'll conserved it and pay for fiat, but depends if they can fix rhe volatility of price rate. Since btc change quickly so its gonna be confusion on the service provider and customer.

It is an effective way that the business begins to have another vision, much more modern, clearer and also focused on technology, also if they implement it and see the good results it will cause a domino effect on others, and they will adopt the same system of payments, this will bring even more adoption.

I won't, I'd rather use fiat.
Based on my experience, they always asks for advance payment and keep asking for more later on. If bitcoin will be the mode of payment there are chances that you exceed on your budget fund. There are also instances that bitcoin suddenly drop and holders prefer to hold it, which is why I preferably want to use fiat over bitcoin when it comes to this.

I would love to but for special occasions like I don't have cash on hand. This is an effective feature but you don't have to remove the other payment methods that you're accepting. Have a test run if this is going to be an effective way to attract crypto users to pay the accepted crypto with your car company. Don't just accept any cryptocurrency but be specific with the most popular ones like bitcoin or Ethereum and you take the rest what the other alts that you think are good to accept.

I'm with you. I am only renting if there's a special occasion that I want a car for the expenses travel like with a family or friends going out on a specific place. I'm not gonna rent though by using Bitcoin, I will always use cash especially if I am in a different country. Using Bitcoin to pay for something is a little hassle to me when in other country, I would rather use the most convenient choice for me.

I don't see this as much of a question to be asked again in this current time. An average bitcoiner would love to do everything with Bitcoin. There have been need of buying cars with Bitcoin. Me personally, would love that and even on the bigger side, an only crypto based vacation to any part of the world.

Well, yes. Especially In the US. They are such as Miami Exotic Car Rentals, Miraflores Rent a Car, CABS Car Hire South Africa, and others (can be found in http://spendbitcoins.com/places/c/car-rental/).
Mostly, the companies or car rentals that accept Bitcoin as one of the payments is the big companies in the city that legalize BTC as payment. but for some other countries, it may be very difficult to find, moreover, BTC is still not legalized as a payment method.

.....how many crypto owners would be more interesting to purchase the service if the company accepts cryptocurrency? Would that be an effective feature?
It will depend on the method of payment. Most of them may offer a fixed amount in USD first and then converting BTC into the fiat-based on the current rate. of, they offer the fixed BTC payment? Well, it will depend on how brave the company. However, if looking at the companies that accept BTC so far, they are mostly big companies and they are really smart to accept BTC or probably other trusted cryptocurrency as payment. For, it is one of the ways to follow the technology development and global era. More practice and easy enough.

I personally am interested in this kind of payment, it probably can increase the utility and use case of BTC or other cryptocurrencies. However, before using this crypto, I will prefer to consider and count on the rate of the BTC at the moment.

Mm, good point.  I've rented cars before as well, and they do indeed get a security deposit up front--and that's a smart practice IMO.  I don't necessarily think that would preclude bitcoin's use in renting a car, but it certainly would make it harder if a payment processor is used.

In any case, I would not use bitcoin to rent a car, but that's just my bias against spending bitcoin when fiat can do the job just as well.  Why give up the potential of making a profit with bitcoin when you can spend fiat, which you'll never make a profit with?  If it came down to it, I'd pay for an Uber ride with bitcoin (assuming it didn't cost that much), but not for a car rental.

you may check also this thread as they are offering taxi service in Thailand accepting Bitcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5190810.0 so if they
can offer this then why not you?
about the question?of course i am happy using my Bitcoin for a car service
because in this i can spread the usage of Bitcoin and also
helping the circulation moving and not just for many to Hold.
and not just for car service i am planing to use also for booking my hotels if ever i am in vacation outside my city or country.
i am looking if Trivago will sooner let us use bitcoin in their Bookings.

Personally no. I'm just the type of person who don't travel much and I just think that it's not the best way of payment when you're going to rent a car for travel purposes. And when you have a car or someone in your family who has a car, I don't think you would even need to rent a car in other agencies. But as for others, maybe they would. It depends on their preferences. I just haven't tried it yet so I don't know how it works but of course someone would still want to try using Bitcoin for renting a car. Maybe if they have no other choice.

It would be a total waste now to buy your Bitcoins with luxury and material things, especially when the halving event in nearing. Renting a car is also i think not beneficial because in the end it's only a limited time use, you'll have to return it eventually. When you can just go and commute, while you invest in cryptocurrency assets such as Bitcoin.
And when the time comes when bitcoin rally and hits ATH, you might be able to buy a car not rent it.

First problem is looking for it something that accepts crypto currencies.
I don't want to be stressed out just for that reason if there is another option that will be easier.

I support crypto but I also want to get real into not thinking too much.
I am lazy dude, just want to relax with every place that I will go. Who doesn't?
So, I would still prefer the easy way. Go to a car rental company and pay how it is supposed to be paid. If they have the other option for bitcoin then why not. As long as it is also a win for me.  :D

If it will be possible in our area why not but I prefer using other currencies rather than bitcoin as I am concerned with the transaction fees because bitcoin is not that good to use in small payment compare to eth or xrp and etc.

This feature will be effective if the area have plenty of crypto users but if there are very few then it is not that effective. Crypto is very easy and simple to use therefore many will surely use a service that accepts this payment options if it is available in their area and I am one of them if in case there will be services here in our country that accepts crypto currencies as payment not only in car rents.

I don't want to rent a car with bitcoin because in here, I can rent a car and pay with fiat. I don't want to use my bitcoin, which I can use fiat to buy something. Besides that, I don't find the services that accept bitcoin or crypto in here, so I still prefer to use fiat for that. People here are not many of them know about bitcoin, and my friends or people who know bitcoin would prefer to save their bitcoin or withdraw their bitcoin to fiat. But perhaps, we can use the other coins besides of using bitcoin because bitcoin is too worth to use for those things.

The reason why most people wouldn't use crypto as a payment even if they could, Because of the price volatility the price of crypto could go up just like you had said.
This is also the reason why it isn't being used or accepted by other company.
I think they would only consider it if they have no other choice.

I could consider it depending on the situation,
Let's say I am in a foreign country and only have limited Fiat then I would rather pay up with BTC since I wouldn't be so sure if I could easily convert my crypto into their local currency and I wouldn't be so sure if other things could be paid with crypto like what if I got hungry and I don't have enough to buy food because I choose to pay with Fiat instead of crypto when I could use it.

No,in my country the car rental business is not popular at all.
It's just too expensive and not convenient.I would rather buy a used car than rent one.
I don't know about using BTC and crypto payments. There's the never ending anticipation that the Bitcoin price might skyrocket,so I would really regret if I spend 0.01 BTC on something like a car rental, but after a few days the BTC price goes up and I lose potential profits.I would rather use cash,if I had to rent something

i have been keeping my Bitcoin for quite sometimes so i think i will pass using my Bitcoin just to pay a car when i can use my Fiat or credit card to pay for this?and Halving can happen couple of months from now and also market will Bull after that so i will just use my cards and pay after halving maybe to maximize my profit and prevent advance spending of my crypto.

for a btc holder they are buying btc for investing purpose only and not for spending   . if there are services that they like they can just use their cards or money but to some that buys btc for payment purpose because they want something that is revolutionary , they prolly try every service that accepts btc including on what we have here  .  for me  , i can say im hybrid investor  , seller  . i can sell my btc anytime if cash isnt available and i also love to rent a car so this service will fit me the most but the sad part is that there isnt service that accept btc at the moment on my place  , maybe in the future  .

I would do that as it's more safer compared to paying in cash, with the blockchain, the transaction can be track and both parties can verify so it's giving us real transparency that the service owner can't deny anything.

if given no chance?yeah why not because i have Bitcoin in my Wallet so whats the problem?this will give me chance of spending my Bitcoin to circulate?
but if in have Fiat specially today or this year?when i am expecting the price of bitcoin will grow even more higher?
i will choose to use other option and don't take in my Bitcoin even a little part because  i have to wait first for at least this whole year.

I think is a revolutionary idea, you can use the blockchain to ensure the correct use of the car. I support the idea the rental car companies must develop new strategies.
yeah i believe in service section there is a TAXI SERVICE in Thailand that offers this service when you visit their country.
and having them are very great opportunity to prove the world whats the function of this cryptos.

Some may think that it isn't effective but for those people who loved and always used to travel. Using cryptocurrencies as payment upon renting would make for them convenient since they don't need to convert their cash into local currency. However, only problem you would encounter is the time when market make a drastic movement.
For people who are knowledgeable enough to work with crypto payments, it won't be hard for them to adopt and for sure they will love using it as they don't need to bring cash inside their wallet. They can easily transact without having any problem as long as there's available crypto payment process to the
receiving parties.
More progress will be seen since bitcoin is getting much wider exposures, it's just need more deeper understanding from different businesses in order  to become available working with their respective systems.

Renting a car?, yeah maybe if the current Bitcoin price is pretty high ($10,000). So, I could spend less Bitcoin than when the price is low.
I have tried renting out a car a couple of times, and both paid with fiat, since I'm afraid of using debit cards. So, why not Bitcoin right?

~snip~

Stop saying it is a waste. If everybody held their coins and did nothing with it,,, bought nothing with it. Then there would be absolutely zero use case other than for holding.

Some investors don't fully understand how the market works to be able to achieve such value.
And some considered Bitcoin as a store of value rather than spending it and using it to increase the demand and improve the currency circulation.
It's so ironic, how people wants Bitcoin to increase it's value without doing anything other than hoarding.

I think if you will be able to have a business then probably you can choose a mode of payment for your clients just like for example if you want to pay you as an cryptocurrency or digital currency then you must have a mode of payment just like that so that the client will be able to have a more hassle free different cases and also it would be really a features of your company because i believe that eventually after a years there would be a progress on cryptocurrency and maybe this will be the key where clients and employees with their half ways.

yeah, I guess this makes sense. If somehow you are just using a single wallet for your bitcoin and especially you are a traveler then used that kind of service then you are just like giving your crypto name and the anonymous thing offered by blockchain is simply broken. I don't know, I just think that it does make sense. With public blockchain anyone can track you especially web hunters. This is where the fiat currency edges the crypto although it is trendy and efficient. However there will be no problem for users that has a lot of e-wallet.

You have to make an avarage the tourist who like to rent your car. If there are a lot of tourist who use your service before then the payment who use bitcoin/altcoin can be considered. Because, they will come to your site first to see your service feature then if bitcoin is being used as a tool for payment system it may a good feature because most people will use it especially for deposite. But when the avarage of your tourist is small then I think you can use money fiat only as payment system.

Hmmm :-\ :-\ this is a good idea, but I don’t really know if I would be into making use of cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) in making a purchase, I have never used it before for buying anything, except transaction between me and business partners or friends. Maybe if the car rental company is offering a really good services and everything about them looks cool, then I might attempt to make use of Bitcoin in making for such.

There are lots of things I do consider as good services, and that’s doesn’t exclude their site and apps having a modern look and being fast, a good support and cheap rate.

:D I will not get involve if the market is downtrend in it price because this will amount to a bigger lose on my part when the price start gong up after which I have already make my deposits. Remember that this deposits will not be refunded back to the rental rather into the company account. Although, am not good in renting cars whenever I travel out of my country, even prefer to make my deposits with fiats to the company involved. Due to Bitcoin volatility, many companies will be afraid on integrating Bitcoin payment method to their existing ones.

This unique niche, cryptocurrency and tourism or travel services. The proof, there are several projects that choose this niche, one of them is Sheng Global. By combining services to meet entertainment, holidays, etc. with blockchain and cryptocurrency will offer an extraordinary experience and convenience, especially if traveling abroad, there is no need to bother thinking about currency exchange. I think this will be even more effective someday when bitcoin adoption becomes more widespread, and legality support from various countries. It takes time, but we must not miss it, evolution for a better life also requires a long time and process.
But the biggest problem is the high volatility of cryptocurrency, so sometimes it's quite unfortunate because it's more effective for investment, I think than for payments.

It would be helpful for me, especially renting a car ahead of time. Like I can pay you first for reservation without going in your office to pay a visit and use my fiat to pay. Especially if using such cryptocurrency and just present the transaction code or any proof that you are the one who paid and will rent.

I think this is a good option, adding crypto and accepting Bitcoin as one of the modes of payments is good for crypto adaptation. Seems like the only way to make crypto known to everyone is through the efforts of the business owners in including Bitcoin as one of their accepted mode of payment.

Not good choose for rent a car with bitcoin because bitcoin price always have potential to higher, maybe you can ask for your car company available for rent car with payment using altcoin like doge or ethereum, its more benefit because both altcoin some time going down.

- Bitcoin may rise higher, other altcoins will still have the same connection, so regardless of whether we choose to pay with bitcoin or altcoin for car hire, waste is the first minus point, cash is still a more stable option, paying with crypto can be interesting but this is only a reluctant choice in some situations, not a priority option. In addition, we should remember that we are trying to remain anonymous and avoid taxes through bitcoin, if we suddenly use bitcoin, our income may be investigated, some additional fines and taxes may occur

Well, to avoid any price increase/decrease issues you can simply fix the payment in USD and when the payment is made you can use a website like preev and pay in bitcoins whatever the price is right that time. I mean yes price may rise and fall but how does it even matter because you are paying the moment when you make payment.

But at the same time I feel that bitcoins can be cashed easily and why not just sell your bitcoins for fiat and then pay for it, I mean bitcoins payment is good having an option but it should be forced into the system where it is not required.

This is indeed true if I would rent a car, I think it is better to use my on-hand cash (fiat) because there is a big possibility that the bitcoin you have used renting for that car can rise in terms of value, we cannot predict when but I can say that holding that bitcoin is really a right decision to make since we are waiting for the important halving that will happen this year, we are not sure that after the halving the market and the bitcoin itself will bull run in value but I think that's gonna happen because the last two halvings of bitcoin did make a big impact to the price of it and in the market itself, I can't for that to happen. I recommend to everyone that you should hold the bitcoin or any tokens that you are saving for a long time. You are using that car in just a small-time, but you will regret the decision if you really rent a car using your bitcoin.

Comes a time when you need to start living and not just hoard. Of course the price may be higher in future but I'd happily spend it on enjoyable things as long as I had enough of it elsewhere.

And alts, whatever their merits or lack thereof, usually do waaay better than BTC during explosions. I got rid of some shitcoins to buy a VR headset. Less than two months later that had turned into a $10,000 headset. And it was crap.

I would love to hear this kind of services to be available sooner, but it's not that easy to incorporate this ways of payment transaction.
The problem is only with those who haven't been oriented by this kind system. It needs a lot of time in order to educate people so that they'll able to acquire knowledge of usinf cryptocurrency for different purposes as well as renting a car using bitcoin.

For me it is a good idea to rent a car with a bitcoin payment. Because I am really looking for a travel agency provides payment features
with cryptocurrency. That way makes it easier for me when vacationing abroad do not need to use fiat currency. I only need to use a mobile
phone to make bitcoin transactions. Hopefully there will be more travel agencies who accept payments with bitcoin, that way will make
the development of bitcoin also more rapidly.

For now I think there are still many users who will make bitcoin only for an asset in the sense, they would prefer to hold it when compared to using it. But for me personally it will obviously be using bitcoin because after all, I have used bitcoin for payments in the past until there was a new regulation in my country that made everything change. So, payment options using crypto are more effective or not, I personally think if the feature will be more effective.

This feature is actually good for travellers who don't want to bring a large amount of cash as there is a certain limit that you can carry in and out of the country. So if you can convert your money into bitcoin or other alts that will be accepted in that country where you are travelling, that would be your advantage. Anyway, you still need to convert your money to the local fiat of where you travel so it is like you are also converting your money to crypto, and this might incur lesser fees.

If there’s a good option like this then why not, beside this is the purpose of bitcoin and we should not just hold bitcoin, sometimes its better to use it and enjoy it. I do rent a car for some business rides before so I think I will use this feature one day if its already available in my place.

In order to make ends meet, and my daily services prefer fiat, I only use cryptocurrency for trading and investing. Another factor is the limited use of cryptocurrency in my country, which may not be used as a means of payment, so there are almost no service providers and sellers that offer alternative payments with cryptocurrency, except for certain communities. Moreover, cryptocurrency is more effectively used as an investment tool, this is related to high volatility so it is not suitable as a means of payment.

Same here why wont accept it if adoption is already taking place?

As long it do concerns about payments and being considered with traditional businesses then its already counted for a good one.Of course i would much prefer on having this option
rather than on seeing fiat alone.

The question is, would these business owners will consider it out?

Technically this argument would hold if you're purchasing basically anything, yet, it's because we can exchange it back and forth for goods what give it part of its value. With that said, I also wouldn't, and it might be a ill reason but hey, a year ago I bought a plane ticket with bitcoin, everything was fine up until I realized they fucked up and gave me a wrong date (I had proof of when I made the payment, the date shown was the correct one while on my ticket it was a full day later), had to call in and getting support from a not so popular agency is no fun and no bueno. After a few hours I managed to get it sorted out and got the correct tickets at no extra cost. Just saying, keep in mind that these new companies might not have the same support infrastructure you might be used to.

For me it's always a better idea to spend fiat and hold Bitcoin but I also see the point in spending bitcoin to increase adoption. Spending Bitcoin to raise awareness is a bit like charity work.

Allowing people to rent cars for bitcoin is a great choice because it allows people who want to travel with bitcoin to have more freedom. It also has some cons because you have to leave a deposit and this usually gets returned to you when you bring the car back undamaged so this forces the rental company to have 2 transactions for each client. Waiting for 2 transactions to confirm for each client could be a pain without lightning payments.

I'd prefer to actually wait until I can buy a car without renting them. I mean, do you know that it costs you more if you rent a car? I would rather wait instead of paying more just because I want to own it. It againsts my religion to actually rent something that cost you more.

Today there are a lot of transaction uses with the cryptocurrency and it is now widely spreading and get a lot of market profit by the help of the crypto, some of the people today use this to make more earnings and some of them use for their businesses and one of the good adaptation of the use of cryptocurrency is the acceptance from the different countries like the china and south Korea that huge country now support the use of bitcoin to use as a transaction money. Still, there are some countries does not accept the use of it because they are still doubting about the effects and the security of the transaction of funds, we can now bought foods, other kinds of stuff and pay for bills with the use of bitcoin but the market price of it is not fixed as we know and it is risky to use because it is volatile and decentralized too.

People have different opinions regarding the issue of the price because when you think like that, you can not really use bitcoin as a means of payment. the moment you are about to pay some bills, you're thinking about its price in the next hours or days. Well, it's not gonna work that way though. the idea behind bitcoin is to become the means of payment in the world whatever industries you have out there. the moment you gonna pay with it, don't think of its price in the next day because tomorrow is another thing than today. it's always not the same when you paid with it there are two possible scenarios, the price will gonna rise or it will fall at some point.

If you live in the country that accepting crypto, then that would be an effective way to introduce crypto to the public in your country because they will curious and will ask you what is crypto. While you explain to them about crypto, you can also suggest them to use crypto to try your service, and I think that will give another experience to them to pay using crypto. Maybe you will attract more people to come to your office and rent your cars using crypto too so that you can help crypto grows in your country.

Absolutely yes this will be an effective feature of a company or car industry because the clients or customers will be able to have in choices on what day want to pick in terms of mode of payment because as we all know there are some companies that are willing to purchase or rent a car that the payment will be on cryptocurrency mode so if that's the case then it will be an effective feature there's an additional payment selection on the side of the clients or customers.

This would be useful for me. I would love to rent a car in oversea nations with cryptos as a mean of payment. This would also be great for travelers who have to travel various nations for business relations. I would also love if any such projects is launched in my own country as well as each time is might not be possible for me to travel in my own car to various places located.

Moreover, I would love to drive new and advanced cars which would be listed on any such platform. I would personally rent a Car with bitcoin, so this would be my answer to your subject. Bitcoins should be used in such major cases which would increase the use case and it might also indirectly affect in the price growth.

Travel agencies should always have different types of payment methods and Bitcoin should really be one of them. As Bitcoin can be considered as an International money, all I need to do to pay the agency is to take my phone out of my pocket rather than using paper money. which I might need afterwards as I’m travelling another country.

Definitely I would rent a car with bitcoin, considering the platfrom is a reputable one with good customer support for its users as well a physical company where one can easily connect with the team in a certain country. Barriers like this is what bitcoin was created to solve so people would be able to control their cash at any point in time. Although I haven't tried out renting a car before but if eventually I end up needing one for a quick purpose, definitely I would check out for platform like this.

Acutally, I think it is not possible to rent a car with Bitcoin payment or crypto in general. Furthermore, it is not going to be allowed in the near future I would guess due to a lot of governments are still rejecting the era of crypto. Possibly everything will change positively in a long term maybe after few years. For me, I would like  to use Bitcoin and even other crypto especially when I don't have cash .

Good customer support is going to be difficult, not saying it's impossible but if you think about it, companies that launch thinking about accepting crypto instead of regular payments don't usually have the customers best interests in mind, rather could be taken as a matter of "it's easier" instead, and what's easier in the support area is to not offer support or not offer a complete support experience. Maybe they'll enable a suggestion box for you to submit your complaint to and not much else.

On the other hand, a company that launches and has regular means to get paid, but also decides to include crypto might have a better chance to have good support. But that's just my opinion.

If there would be a company that will let us to rent a car using bitcoin then I will go for it there are a lot of advantage of using bitcoin in different aspect, and the use of bitcoin is much safer and faster than a fiat currency, but I think there will be no company that will let us to use bitcoin to rent a car because of its volatility, which makes their business fall if the market goes down, I don't think that they will let that thing happens.

Fiat currency is much prepared than cryptocurrency because it has a fixed price, so meaning to say there is a fix price of how much money you need in order to rent the car, which makes the company earn and make the inventory system well.

If there is such an offer, and if it still carried some bonuses for me when paying with cryptocurrency, I would seriously consider this option. But most likely, I would use the good old cash or a plastic card, it is more convenient for me with them.
How you differentiate between payment system using money fiat and cryptocurrency because it will be same. If the rentcar owner ask you to pay $20 to rent his car for one day then you will also pay $20 in form of bitcoin for one day. So, is there any differentiate? There are several countries which have stated that bitcoin is money, it means there is no different between money fiat and bitcoin.

Maybe he mean for a day or for a week. I tried renting a car for family vacation but they only offer a maximum of 5 days, guess it depends on the company policy, I haven't try renting a car for a month. I think the crypto payment would not be that effective, why? simply because it is volatile, the payment for crypto will be just seasonal and that is when the market turns green and people already gained from it. So if you are looking for a travel industry feature, the best is the cheap price.

Undoubtedly, I also believe that the larger the range of services for cryptocurrency users using bitcoin, the faster the popularity of cryptocurrency and the number of its users will grow.  But if we consider the current situation in the cryptocurrency market, then for me personally, the service for using Bitcoin as a means of payment is not very important, because in my opinion bitcoin has not yet reached the value that I could give it for some services or some  things.  Of course, the infrastructure for using Bitcoin should be developed in any case, but at the moment I consider Bitcoin not as a means of payment, but as a profitable long-term investment.

If we are to consider Bitcoin as money, using it to pay for services shouldn't be hampered by possible value of the coin tomorrow. Another important thing to note is that when you pay for such rentals using Bitcoin there are no hidden charges or unnecessary debits from your bank as it is the case with paying through credit cards. In my own opinion, paying for rentals services with Bitcoin is an advantage to clients rather than the company.

Adopting cryptocurrency in any kind of application will never be a bad decision. So for your question, of course! It was a good feature for car rentals to accept btc. Though only few will get relate to this for sure since this is a new technology, don't get tired of telling customers that you accept btc because it is already a big contribution for the mass adoption. Whether there is only one or even none used this kind of feature, that's okay at least you are promoting the btc after all :D. It will yield fruitful outcomes in the future.

Using bitcoin or any other crypto coin as a payment option for renting cars is no different from using fiat currency. Personally I have no problem using my bitcoin as a currency to rent a car. Considering the nature of Bitcoin and the car rental ecosystem, using bitcoin will not really change anything in terms of how transactions are made in order to rent a car. Using cryptocurrency will just introduction decentralization into the car rental industry and that will not really introduce anything different into this industry.

It's a pretty good idea for us especially most of us here have cryptocurrency. Adding cryptocurrency in the payment option has already been conducted by many companies and maybe not only focuses on accepting bitcoin and try to add more cryptocurrency. IMO, it will gonna be a waste of profit if you're going to use your bitcoin to rent a car instead of using fiat. It's better to use fiat currency than bitcoin but still, it depends on the people who will gonna rent the car. There's nothing wrong if you're going to use your bitcoin on that kind of transaction but the best option for me is to hold it. Since it's your bitcoin, you're free to do what you want but before spending it, you should try to analyze the situation first. You have to consider the market during the time you want to rent a car if it will be a good decision to use your bitcoin.

Right, everyone has their perspective. Although fiat is more effective, there are some people who choose bitcoin as an alternative payment, so please try, who knows can be an effective promotion to attract tourists or travellers who are also interested in crypto. Travel services and crypto, in my opinion, include a unique niche, many people take a tour to fill the holiday after passing through a tiring day, so this niche is never empty. And for foreign tourists, cryptocurrency is also very good as a payment if you have not had time to exchange money in force in the country, crypto can be a universal currency that applies anywhere as long as the situation and conditions support. However, if I have to choose, I prefer fiat for payment, because I consider crypto more effective for investment, another consideration is the volatile price.
Of course, every cryptocurrency user expects the time when we can use bitcoin in everyday life as a means of payment.  Today, the infrastructure for using Bitcoin is just beginning to develop, and the idea of renting a car using Bitcoin is also very good, which complements the range of services using bitcoin.  But I believe that today Bitcoin deserves more, because it has a very low price for this period and I personally am not ready to give Bitcoin for car rental, but in the future this will be very useful.

Hi guys, I'm working in the travel industry and recently found some global online travel agencies such as EasyRentCars start getting into crypto payments. I wonder how many crypto owners would be more interesting to purchase the service if the company accepts cryptocurrency? Would that be an effective feature?
You can definitely rent a car using cryptocurrency. There are sites online that accepts cryptocurrency to rent a car. These days fiats are known in any kind of transaction whether it's paying or renting. I also think they would put an interests to it cause that would be their advantage for using cryptocurrency as a payment.

Yes. I think it's not a good idea to rent a car using BTC or even by Cash. Because it only gives them opportunity to get your money. By using a credit card still a smart thing to do at the moment, because you have some sort of support after making the payment.

I remember the were a number of projects that offered rent a car service based on a blockchain - all of them failed to, either reach softcap, either finish development or get listed. There was also a project that offered renting services of everything (from a screwdriver to property), even had a bounty - failed.

Rent a car with bitcoin or any other crypto is either not successful/needed or cursed :D

Payment method is not really something that I worry about, what matters most to me is the kind of service that is being offered there.

If they have one of the best services in town, then I will make use of their services whenever I want to rent a car without minding the payment methods they have listed, although I think that any platform I'm using shouldn't be a cryptocurrency–only platform; it would be best if they also have other options for making payments, because it's not all the times that I have money in my cryptocurrency wallet, and moreover the money I have in my cryptocurrency wallets are mainly as an investment.

Yes i would definitely rent a car by paying bitcoin. It will be more simple suppose if i am low on cash in abroad i don't need to go to bank to get the currency of that particular country I'll just pay the dealer with bitcoin it would be much more simple and convenient and it'll also promote bitcoin.

It will serve it's purpose once you use bitcoin for such cause, it's an alternative money to those who don't want to bring physical money. With this
kind of offer you'll be enjoying the service of bitcoin without going to any place to withdraw cash.
In terms of promoting this crypto currency you are bringing knowledge as if there are more people who will notice this kind of service they will
also be aware and chances that they will also adopt the same.

Bitcoin is an effective feature of payment for anything so yes I agree bitcoin will work well for renting a car. I am sure there are many places that allow the rental of cars with crypto. It will be great when
one day we can use crypto to pay for rents and ride. Imagine uber had uber token and you can use it to take rides? That kind of idea would work best.

I think no. The meaning of Bitcoin loses its meaning - anonymity, when we pay for a car, therefore, in addition to payment, you must provide your passport and the right to use the car. It’s easier to use fiat money.

Erm, since when was renting a car with anything anonymous? The rental companies would emptied of cars in 5-10 minutes if that was possible. You have to hand over a driving licence and a card so they'll have everything they need to start spying on your trips to take selfies at beauty spots.

In terms of my views, I would like to say, this is a good initiative. If I get a reputed car rental agency who offers their services in exchange for Bitcoin, I'll definitely check it out. It would be easy for me to pay and the great thing is that, through it all the information of my transaction will be kept secret which is very useful to me. so, in my opinion it is a very effective feature.

Considering the fact that people haven't really adopted bitcoin and the blockchain technology, it wouldn't bring out much positive result. But if you're into the business of creating awareness for bitcoin, then it could bring a lot of impressive results. And one thing is for sure..... Sometime in the future, it'll be very helpful for the business.

Maybe yes but I think it depends to the price of the bitcoin, I would not rent a car if the bitcoin price is low then I would not if the price of the bitcoin is low. I think that is also what others think, of course they will choose the one that will lessen the cost.

But I think their would be no car owner that will let this happens, they would not accept the bitcoin as way of payment because their business will also fall if the market also falls so I think they would not take the risk with using bitcoin as way of payment.

Not yet, but maybe in a few years.

I know projects like creditcoin (invested in by coinbase , ycomb) are working on building a decentralized credit score system which would make sense for car rentals but right now its too risky

It would be, especially for those crypto owner who live where the cryptocurrency is being accepted as payment system. I am happy if you really choose crypto such as bitcoin as payment methode, but you have to consider about your government regulation against the utilization of cryptocurrency.

It will be useless if you live where cryptocurrency is not accepted as payment system, there will no one who force themselves to spend their cryptos for payment system. They will be afraid of government regulation, this case has been happened to some services in my country. They tried to accept bitcoin as payment system whilst the government is forbid it so as goverment give a punishment against them.

Not right now for me, I prefer when renting a car, I used my MasterCard for easy transactions. Maybe if they developed some fast transactions program, I think about trying to use it sometimes. right now, I can have no delay in my travels and to go right away as soon the payment has been processed. If weren't for the pandemics, I may not stuck in the house and continue to travel to capture photos as usual.

It depends, I would if it is cheaper during the time of payment. I think that's the exact answer. People nowadays are smart when it comes to money. We are all walking calculators. When I encounter shops who accepts bitcoin, I will automatically think if its better with fiat or bitcoin. I will always choose what's cheaper. That's normal. For now, there is so much to think about when using bitcoin.

We have to support the start of bitcoin currency but we can't deny that we will always choose what's best for us. Well, I hope there will be the time where bitcoin will always be the right choice, not for now.

Any business that wants to be successful shouldn’t just be accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method, because there might be people who may want to make use of their services but due to they don’t make use of cryptocurrency they will not make use of the company.

But, if the car renting company is accepting several payment methods and also accepting Bitcoin and then letting their customers to know that they are accepting Bitcoin, as time goes on some of the customers might be interested in trying out Bitcoin. So don’t just accept on Bitcoin, accept other payment methods as well, and the most important thing is the kind of services you’re offering, if it’s excellent, then you will get lots of customers.

I do not have rights for the car, and indeed for any means that require them. But if I had such an opportunity, I would consider it, but at the same time, when paying with cryptocurrencies, I would use it only on condition that I would be entitled to a discount or some bonuses. Cash would be easier for me.

Cash would be a lot easier, indeed. Paying with cryptocurrencies still bother me, it makes me think that I would regret it in a sense that it may go higher than the price I spend it. I can't help to think that way since cryptocurrencies are volatile especially bitcoin but I would be very glad if I found a car rental shop that's accepting bitcoin as payment, it means that the bitcoin is being recognized by the merchants however it might not that be a trend since people are storing bitcoins as an investment and acts a emergency button.

For me it is not essential to rent a car with bitcoin because in renting a car with bitcoin there is a possibility that your money will be scammed. There are companies that are offering renting a car with bitcoin but there are also not legit companies that is why we need to be careful in making decisions when it comea to bitcoin because our money may come into vain. There are establishments that are already accepting bitcoin as their mode of payment such as starbucks and other storea for good we can use our bitcoin in it insetad. We must use our bitcoin carefully so that we will not be scammed.

No doubt, using cash and FIATS will be lots easier when performing such basic transactions but i can't help but commemd the various effort of those involved in creating suitable plugins and API's that will enable merchants incorporate bitcoin as a payment option. It's part of a way of creating real life value for bitcoin and I'd say it's an amazing moves towards pushing the use of bitcoin to mass adoption. Afterall,  such functions are why the whole the whole cryptocurrency was created; a digitized financial institution

For me personally, the main problem here is even the don't expectation that Bitcoin will grow and I will spend more in the future than I could, namely, that I will have to spend much more time to pay with cryptocurrencies than with cash, and I will also spend more from for commission.

Actually, why not? Using Bitcoin for rent a car or for payment of any other goods or services what difference does it make? I often use Bitcoin as a payment method but of course everything depends on merchants conditions. Bitcoin should be used a currency in the real life that is my opinion and I try to do that in practice. That is also one of the ways how to spread awareness of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
