Title: CALL OF DUTY Launches Game with Virtual Currency
Post by: Asuspawer09 on March 11, 2020, 03:44:25 PM
Call Of Duty: Warzone
- A battle royal game is a first-person shooter where players are going to fight to the death in a shrinking area to be the last man standing.
Played by a 150 player in a massive world, it is reported that the game is going to feature its own virtual currency for buying upgrades in the game and "generally creating revenue for the developer".

Developing the game could cost a big amount of money, so developers tend to use their own currency in the game so that players could purchase upgrades in the game using their own real money.
"However in the New COD: Warzone it is reported that completing a mission or task in the game could earn you cash where you could spend at the "Buy Stations". Buy Stations can be used to buy upgrades and respawn tokens to resurrect dead teammates."

The blockchain technology already uses a lot in the gaming industry and tend to be stronger as the gamers support cryptocurrency. There is no doubt that the connection between the two increases the use of cryptocurrency.

That was good news that even into the world of multiplayer game they will now making a lot of adaptation-related into the cryptocurrency because most of the people today encountered the use of crypto in just investment, trading and gambling website most of the people are making money those and making a payment that is with the use of cryptocurrency but today even in the online world of gaming industry we can now use the cryptocurrency and also the Call of Duty (COD) is one of the best game for first-person shooting and it is already gained a lot of popularity than can make a lot of contributions that are related with the use of crypto so it is better if we support on it.

When the cryptocurrency community sees or hears "currency" they go nuts.

This is a bad implementation of a virtual economy in a video game and actually recks the gameplay. Cryptocurrency doesn't make this implementation any better.

Obviously some aspects of video game economies and crypto make an interesting idea, but so far nothing is close to being sustainable.

I love crypto, but don't like the random hype around things that don't matter at all.

Edit: This is also a currency that isn't traded. So it is not really even a currency like Runescape gold, that some people trade outside of the game.

I'm no longer fazed with such news anymore knowing that this is also being done on other games currently. Microtransactions on online games isn't a new thing, and perhaps the developor of COD: Warzone are just trying to rake in the hype that they could to promote their game. Adding in-game items/upgrades purchasable by cryptocurrencies is a good thing, but a developer launching their own crypto to purchase their own items is another. There is a huge difference and a solid line between the two, and I hope people gets that they are entirely different things.

That could be a good way to teach young gamers about cryptocurrencies.

I thought that the first to adopt this will be MMORPG genre because this is where the big money is spent but it looks like shooters can also benefit.

Previous CoD games were incredibly popular. I remember reading how truck with new CoD dvds was stolen once so the demand is there for sure :)

I have been a fan of COD franchise and ever since it has released i played most of the game, these days battle royal games are somewhat popular. I mean it even me played a lot, knives out, Rules of survival, Pubg etc. I have been buying in game items using real cash. Good thing is the my third party app lets me buy using bitcoins to ratio 1:1. It could be better if someone like this games create a game with a feature of able to earn while playing.

It is not clear if the virtual currency that is going to be use in the game is really a cryptocurrency but since the article is a news in bitcoinist.com that is a cryptocurrency news websites I assume that it might be a cryptocurrency.

Virtual currency is already use in a lot of games like for example steam wallet, Garena shells , diamonds etc. where we could use in buying items and upgraded in the game. And it is different from virtual currency like cryptocurrency since it has demand and supply that is affecting the market price of the cryptocurrency in the market.

Yes and based from the article, there is not sure yet whether the virtual currency will be on chain connected to a possible cryptocurrency. Lots of gaming companies expresses their interest on blockchain but still to early to sync in that COD will be launching a blockchain supported currency that can be used on their own game. But this will be a great advance if ever they will, since COD is one of the famous game and lots of crypto enthusiast would be happy to know about it when that time comes.

This is exactly what I have been talking about since 2018, if video games can have their own tokens it will make gaming more interesting, this is a good start honestly I hope standalone games can start doing same things, earning real rewards in games will be the best thing to ever happen

The coin can be used to buy skins and weapons says the writer, seem good. I doubt the developers are interested to add their coin on exchanges, why would they when they can earn from their fans alone. I once play the game back 2000 and looks like a history after online role-playing games came. At first you may think adoption is coming but sooner you'll see they are just trying to revive the dying game while making money from their fans.

I am fully into gaming and crypto, can't do without both and I will be glad to see this happen in other games as well, imagine if we can use tokens or coins on PSN or XBOX LIVE, it will be totally awesome and earning tokens when beating hard levels in games will surely makes gaming more interesting

Maybe this is just a discourse so they will not fully adopt it to blockchain but I like playing COD first because this is really a lot of fans, if this token is really there then it will be very easy for me to play using their own tokens to buy various items available in the game.
Will COD be the first to boost success by adopting a blockchain?

Maybe this is just a trying phase to see how the incorporation of crypto will work on this game, there is nothing serious yet because the currency in question is not that which is known yet, but i do think it is good thing to be able to use digital currency to buy in-game items, this will help such gamers in countries who can not access the online stores using their local currency in some games because of country restriction, good thing cryptocurrency don't have such restriction,
to me this will foster adoption of crypto even more quicker whenever they decided to make use of well known crypto.

I have experience with gamers and I have experience with crypto people. I can tell you now that gamers are not holders and not adopters of new money technology,,, unless it helps them buy games and get better gear and whatever.

For them you can give them 10x virtual currency, 10 x crypto and they do not care. They will never have a private key wallet, they only want everything in game.

Yes but we can still consider them as crypto users which purchase coins in order to supply their in game needs. I am not agree that they cant be both, most of the cryto peeps that I know are all gamers and they are also into trading. I guess its up to person like. I am a gamer as well, and having pursue what COD might be ( if related to blockchain) is a cool and good for me. I have a PK, by the way.

A well built gaming platform working with a virtual currency is certainly a good thing. It may or may not be directly a blockchain based crypto but with the ability to transfer it from user to user, it could easily be traded with popular crypto and hence decentralizing the market. It would be even satisfying if they used a real transactable crypto that could be integrated on exchanges.

It is not a currency, it is just a buzzword for loyalty points, nothing else. Why they didn't choose already working cryptocurrencies like EnjinCoin? That would bring more trust to the game.  :)

Yep, the article seems to be grabbing at extremely thin straws to me as most online games have at least some sort of digital in-game currency that is used, especially in mobile ones. Nothing new, and it just doesn't seem to even relate much to any sort of blockchain at all to me with what's been written in this article; it just seems to be a digital currency.

This is what I'm waiting for, I'm a gamer and behind that I'm also a crypto fan. indeed what I have been waiting for is the famous video game industry for adopting blockchain as purchasing items in it. COD mobile is not as popular as PUBG, but the game has many fans. with this news the positive impact is that people are more familiar with crypto widely and for gamers who don't know crypto will definitely find out about "crypto". maybe my assumption will be to make a stable coin.

The gaming industry is taking an entirely new dimension, we see lots of new blockchain based gaming platforms emerged with lots of proposed Usecases of taking the gaming industry to the next level, it is undeniable that these platforms have not been able to produce something worth mainstream adoption by gamers out there, i think the way forward is to make positive partnerships and collaboration with already functioning video gaming brands so that they will incorporate their blockchain algorithms and use cryptocurrencies as the virtual currency to run the entire ecosystem of such games

It's unclear whether this cryptocurrency is actually based on blockchain tech, or if it's just a virtual currency as is quite common nowadays?

Searching online, I can't find any information about which platform the token is launched on, or if it even has a decentralized ledger behind it?

Seems like this would be the most important information, but its completely omitted.

Is this a news? I mean as long as it is not a blockchain based virtual currency, almost ALL games have a currency don't they?
I mean World of Warcraft has been around for maybe close to 20 years now and they have their own currency, every single game has a currency. It is titled either gold, coins, diamonds, tokens, tickets or whatever you want, everything is basically a money form in these games.

I do not see this as a thing that is news worthy if they are not using a cryptocurrency just made for this game. Now THAT would be awesome, you would literally have a crypto currency that you can only earn by playing and you can sell it to make money, people could either earn it or they could simply buy it from you or directly from the game owners, basically all a new economy based around a game.

The game peaked to 6 million players within 24 hours. It's more of a hype and I think a game changer which will replace PUBG soon.
I just don't under the concept of "virtual currency". It's same as ingame money or gold.

i got the same question in my head but btw do you visit the link ? i havent yet but the link should provide some details or you already visit them but still cant find answer to your question .

you are right that games have a common currency like for example gems  . you can earn them rarely or you can buy them using your prepaid load or other payment option such as credit card  , paypal , etc  . but maybe they are using some kind of crypto related currency and only be relaodable via crypto transaction too .

Personally, I am no longer surprised at such news. Now everyone will want to attract more customers to their product and different methods will be used for this, including blockchain and cryptocurrencies. All this is associated with large changes in international politics, economics and finance. More and more companies are moving away from accepting fiat money, and creating their own digital ones than making their offer unique and attractive.

Lmao these shit-tier crypto journalists can't do basic fact-checking - there's no cryptocurrency here, "virtual currency" doesn't mean crypto or blockchain. This is just centralized in-game currency, the same that already exists in countless other games. Big gaming companies have zero interest in blockchain and crypto, it has no benefits for them, it creates more problems than it solves. No wonder that crypto market falls so easily if so much of it is built on lies like this article.

Cool, I don't understand why so few companies accept cryptocurrency, they can sell crypto at the exchange rate and pay taxes, and it will be more convenient for users.

that's very good, I hope games like pubg also get support from game developers and crypto so that they can top up using crypto. I think it will be effective, and for all online games you can use it too.

It's very pity that I can't download it on my PC((( It's too old and I can't play even on minimal. I'll go and cry to my Mom to buy me a new PC. I can't stay and wait till the next year because they promised that in 2021 they will buy me a PC. All my friends have performed PC's and they are playing  CALL OF DUTY Warzone with cod warzone hacks (https://lavicheats.com/call-of-duty-warzone-hacks-cheats-esp/). You can't imagine how interesting it is. Really, it works perfectly on their PC's and it's very pleasant to play the COD. I hope that my parents love me and will buy soon a new PC for me.

Where can I find some more feedback?
