Title: Will coronavirus encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly?
Post by: Abiky on March 12, 2020, 11:21:23 PM
I've seen somewhere across the web, that China has been taking measures to protect physical banknotes/bills from getting infected with the coronavirus. After all, it's said that the virus could be transmitted across physical cash in circulation from one person to another. If the trend continues, people will look for other ways to spend their money safely without having direct contact with the virus. In this regard, digital payments prove to be a winner when it comes to sending/receiving money without exposing yourself to physical banknotes/bills that have could've been contaminated with the coronavirus. I believe that it could be a win-win situation for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the Blockchain space. Unless governments decide to start rolling their digital currencies to the world, everything will remain likely the same as it is today.

Do you think that the recent situation will encourage people to use (or rely) on crypto more thoroughly? What are your thoughts? ???

No. Especially after the historical one-day bloodbath of many alts and BTC. Convincing people to get into BTC and alts right now is going to have 0% success.

Furthermore, we already have digital money. We have credit & debit cards. Why would I put my savings at this moment into BTC? I can't get to the local grocery store to buy some food or water. I can't give my family BTC if they're in need of money - I mean I can, but that would be of no help.

BTC is useless right now for those who are willing to refuge into some asset for long term protection, especially because you never know when exchanges could collapse and the services altogether. At least you know that other commodities have had a historical acceptance for barter, so you can consider that a safezone.

If nations are now going to release digital currencies, they're going to conquer the markets. Don't expect BTC to become the global currency or anything - that's not gonna happen. And as I said, the free fall of stocks & crypto will make a lot of people think that cryptocurrencies are a very bad idea. Time will prove they're not imo.

I've seen somewhere across the web, that China has been taking measures to protect physical banknotes/bills from getting infected with the coronavirus.
If China is taking measure to protect their hard notes from infections from the virus, I think itvis indeed a great move. Since research has shown that the virus is airborne and can easily be transmitted even by touch.

If the trend continues, people will look for other ways to spend their money safely without having direct contact with the virus. In this regard, digital payments prove to be a winner when it comes to sending/receiving money without exposing yourself to physical banknotes/bills that have could've been contaminated with the coronavirus

If situations are dare, of course it is only normal for ppl to seek for alternative to way of life. And in a situation like this, digital currency seem to be the only viable alternative to go. However, it is still very difficult and unrealistic to position a whole country on the use of digital currency. As much as we the people in this space would want for a better adoption and a far reaching  penetration of cryptocurrency in daily life, government regulations and jurisdictional policies will not allow. Plus hard notes have come a long way in serving people, adopting crypto as an official currency is very unlike for any country around the world.

It is going to take generational adjustment before the acceptance and usage is lodged in people's ideas.

Do you think that the recent situation will encourage people to use (or rely) on crypto more thoroughly? What are your thoughts? Huh
To answer this question, I'd say No! I believe a country like China would prefer to mint new notes if they are infected rather than adopt crypto as official currency.

Perhaps credit card is still the best options for many to used to make transactions cash-less instead of crypto. And not many stores readily accepts bitcoin maybe except Japan or Germany. So I highly doubt that crypto is going to be the main the payment system that is going to be use in this kind of situation.

Not a chance, many will prefer their credit card more than using crypto right now and even the present crypto market condition is not encouraging, only those who have guts will buy crypto now

At a time when there is nothing good, all markets experience a very deep crisis due to this corona virus, but the government will try to make any payment through no contact, whatever it is and still in the process of discussion, and hopefully crypto will be the solution to payment without contact. with each other.

Dumper is still happening so badly the cryptocurrency market today.

Never, what will make people want to use crypto at this kind of time where all market is crumbling? Instead investors are selling their bags maybe they simply thinks the end of the world is near but I suspect all this virus shit is done intentionally

maybe this is another reason for the government to tell people to get rid of cash? cash is not monitored by the authorities and it is very important for them that all money becomes electronic. and most likely the idea that the coronavirus is transmitted through cash money is just the reason

seeing the current situation makes me think that this virus is fighting off crypto. Well, not only crypto, but also gold, crude oil, and other investments are also affected by this virus. however, I thought that this virus would support the development of crypto through transaction channels, but seeing a very large decline occur in this short amount of time, made me feel that this virus made the economy become unstable.

Corona virus has a huge effect on the world economy and recently the Fed has injected funds into the market for trillions of dollars. I think the current market crash is making people look for alternative investments and with the many cheap and potential crypto prices, I think crypto will recover in the next few months.

it will help only to encourage people to use other option to pay using online payment and crypto.

It will also help to reduce the infected since you dont need to pay any other bills using paper money which there are chances that who own that paper money may also be infected. Using crypto or other online payment you dont need to handled any of your money you just need to use your mobile for payment.

Crypto is just another option because there are also other online payment like paypal.
Because of corona virus online payments are a good way for every transactions it is much more safer and it would prevent the virus from spreading through Fiat.

The current situation on the corona Virus case has really put the world to a plunge. It will be safe to say that people are already taking measures on how to control the virus spread and one of those measures can be seen in the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies today.

I believe that the world is going the way of crypto as a form of payments now being scared of the corona Virus spread and this will definitely help. This is the much talked about mass adoption and just may be Corona case will facilitate it the more.

I like the idea but not all people who are affected are into cryptocurrency. Maybe some but not majority know how to use it. Government probably aware about usage and usefulness of crypto but some authorities are even the one avoiding everyone to use it as potential scam and risk awaits you. This is their typical suggestion but Im willing to support this if ever they will do cause we can educate some those who dont know about its usage.

But I do hope sooner we can go back to the normal cause the lifestyle really changed due to this corona shit.

Most probably, people will realize that using online payment is quite safer, at this time we haven't feel the demand as the sentiment of crypto is on the global effect of the corona virus, now it's dumping so it's hard to say, but soon for sure they'll adopt. Also, I am not expecting that corona virus will last longer, the WHO will definitely do their best to find the solution to this the soonest possible time as the pressure is on them and we've all seen the effect of the panic.

Do you seriously believe there is going to be a single government saying "hey, let's use Bitcoin!"? As I said a few posts above yours, there already is virtual/electronic money out here: bank accounts.

If there will be any new electronic currency they're willing to adopt, it's going to be one created and launched by them. Not a currency created to be trustless and decentralized..

Scarcity of food how come, we are not yet on war, experts are finding cures for this epidemic and there are precautionary measures that have been taking up, and that is not required for us to panic, these kind of people are watching too many doomsday movies, that they lose trust in their government, and taking things to their hands.

Its not encouraging people I think because there were no suggestions about the crypto options for the people like media reporting a store selling toilet paper accepting BTC or ETH.

Though It would be exciting for crypto if the affected countries starts using coins and I think the corona virus will actually be a good reason for this to kickstart.  If only China could start doing so using their own coins and start with Hongkong everybody else will also be doing it too.

It should be yes, cryptocurrencies are money and everyone can use them as mean of payment. The virus is very awful because it will takes three day for the virus dead when it comes to the stuff. The people will be recommended to use digital money when they make a transaction because if we use money paper we will take them every day and we will touch them before we make a transaction. It will be good for some countries out there to accpet cryptocurrency as the payment system, at the very least we will safe ourlives when we buy some stuffs.

If you talk about the corona virus as a real terrible disease, then all this will lead to only one, to many victims, and what cryptocurrency can be discussed in this case? In reality, things are completely different. When people talk about the corona virus, they immediately translate the conversation about the benefits that can be extracted, which means that all this corona virus is an invention and an occasion to achieve certain goals. Based on this, I can conclude that perhaps all of this was used to promote cryptocurrencies, but I am more inclined to believe that this is an excuse to get rid of influence and the dollar. Of course, against this background, cryptocurrencies can be interesting, but this does not mean that all this was done for the sake of accepting cryptocurrencies in the world.

Crypto will rise from bloodshed and the price of BTC will rise again. Everyone is interested in engaging in cryptocurrency and will use it thoroughly in real life. some of the advantages of digital money that is when transactions do not shake hands means that digital money can prevent transmission of virus Corona and more .. We have to get up and keep piling up in the current prices for the lowest price.

first of all, what I want to emphasize is that Cryptocurrencies are not just BITCOIN..  USDT, PAX, USDC are Cryptocurrencies too!! (https://www.ibm.com/blogs/blockchain/2018/07/stable-coins-enabling-payments-on-blockchain-through-alternative-digital-currencies/)  so it is not impossible for cryptocurrencies can be used as a transaction tool.  digital money is currently the easiest to apply, but we must not be too optimistic that cryptocurrencies can never be used as a transaction tool.  at this time what is a barrier to cryptocurrencies that cannot be used as a transaction tool is the lack of education about cryptocurrencies to the public... that's all-

Depends on the usage. Because there were people who aren't into risk, and crypto is always associated with that 'cause once you engaged/convert your money here it is a matter of a time on where its value would downfall or rise up. Besides if their business were just for payment alone, and to avoid in contact with the virus then may be crypto wouldn't be in their choice, not even in the least especially when they want to kept maintaining the value of their money. On the other hand, people who are, some sort of risk taker, and are willing to take some changes with it then crypto really suits them up. Thus, the word encourage to use crypto thoroughly here is what defines them

Yes It could be that this pandemic will be the beginning of the evolution of a new and more effective system, by breaking the chain of virus spread through direct contact with money. Money is a medium for spreading viruses and bacteria with a fairly rapid transfer process, especially if it is not supported by the cleanliness and a healthy lifestyle. This needs complex support from various parties including the socialization and completeness of facilities and infrastructure. Transactions using e-money or crypto are effective but this is still limited, with intensive socialization and education can make adoption better I feel.

If people will be educated of how to use crypto in their day to day lives and inform them the benefits of using crypto especially having this pandemic, I think they will use crypto. But the problem right now, most of them don't know how to deal with crypto and if they see how volatile bitcoin is, they will think twice on using it. But for those who are already crypto users, they can assist others on how to use crypto and share the benefits that they are enjoying. Maybe it will be a good start in attracting potential users.

Personally, due to Bitcoin volatility will be a major cause which will scare many potential investors not to have confidence in cryptocurrency. We have seen the bloodbath which took place recently, people with be afraid to use cryptocurrency in times like this because of their volatility in nature. Before now, we thought cryptocurrency to be a safe haven but the reverse was the case when it dropped far further than stock market. Though the advantage if using cryptocurrency will be seen when the market start renouncing back to it normal position. Bitcoin is very sensitive to recovery than the stock market.

I think it is possible, in Thailand the big banks is closed and stopped the foreign currency exchange to avoid contact with physical cash, this is the start of using digital money. Even it is for the meantime, on those times they used it they will certainly get used and experience how better it is than the usual way. Only the problem is if they will make they own digital currency, and inflict people to use it-centralization, and that way is too dangerous, keeping tracks of records of transactions of people, getting their sensitive informations easily. I guess it is easy for the governments to use it in the current pandemic.

Of course the best choice is to use cryptocurrency to prevent the spread of corona viruses by using crypto, because there is no need
physical touch occurs. I believe the Chinese government is starting to consider this. And if in the end the Chinese government legalizes
cryptocurrency as a payment will have an extraordinary positive effect on China and the development of cryptocurrency. I hope the
Chinese government dares to make a decision as soon as possible, so it's not like now that the Corona virus has spread almost to all
countries in the world.

It is unlikely that because of this situation, people will suddenly start using cryptocurrency. Those who wanted to, have long joined it and use it regardless of the market situation. The rest will probably just prefer non-cash payments.

A cryptocurrency is just a form of digital currency that can be used. There are still other forms that could be used. So, you never can tell which of it is China planning to use.  However, since banknote has been seen a s a medium through which the virus can be transferred from one person to another, there might be a shift. t's just like a form of revolution.
Many countries are today affected, which might be a doorway to the mass adoption we have been envisaging.

That can be possible, as you know many countries including China are sanitizing their paper money wherein it will cause resources wherein if you have paperless funds, it would lessen the risk of the virus however, yes, with the current dump of crypto market, they may need to think of better way hence, they have online banking which is the same.

Undoubtedly, everything is going to ensure that people use cashless payments more and more. But with cryptocurrency, the situation is much more complicated, it is not yet so easy to use in everyday life. Therefore, it is unlikely that this situation will encourage people to use it. This requires a little more time.

Couldn't agree more with you, mate. With the current market situation, no one would want to invest in crypto except those who are passionate about its technology. Ever since Bitcoin became traded on exchanges, prices have been in constant flux. For a cryptocurrency that's often touted as a "store of value", it has many shortcomings which defeats said purpose. The price volatility is the biggest issue of Bitcoin, making it difficult (if not impossible) to use it as a real currency for day-to-day transactions. Privacy and scalability are secondary aspects that do not affect Bitcoin's ability to be used as a safe-haven asset for people in the mainstream world. It's no secret that people are the ones who determine Bitcoin's (and other cryptocurrencies') true price relative to Fiat.

With upcoming government-issued digital currencies, the fate of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is at stake. There might be no reason to use Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies if government-issued digital currencies are nearly the same. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but this seems the way crypto will be heading to in the future. Let's hope everything turns out to be good for the mainstream adoption of crypto and Blockchain technology in the long run, if the market manages to stabilize somehow. I believe that regulation is necessary (and some liquidity) in order to keep Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) as stable as possible. Time will tell us what lies ahead with the future of crypto as an alternative to the existing monetary system. Just my opinion :)

It could happen if the government allows the crypto to be used as the payment. Maybe people can shop their daily needs online, and they can pay using crypto, but so far, they can use their debit/credit card to pay, so I don't think it will happen soon. The government concern about finding people and how they can cure the virus, but if one country is collapsing because of the virus, then maybe that will encourage people to use crypto for the payment systems because they can pay from their home without going to the local store.

"just" its insulting when this word is being used. Yes a digital currency but werent sure yet where the progress and improvement of this will take the cruptocurrency in the future. OP is practically stating a possibility and will also benefited people since usage of cryptocurrency doesnt require physical contact unlike fiat money.

However this is the case. This isnt easy to use as only few services and goods are accepting crypto and limited to only those who are just recently announced of support. Maybe plus ten more years.

I think the answer to that question is no because if so, the prices of the cryptocurrencies will not experience the current declination we are having as of the moment. Also, there is another way people can get even spending their moneys by the use of having credit card to basically have an access to their money that have been stored in their bank accounts. Also there are already mobile banking due to the advance technology other countries do have. This current situation we are all into will not push everybody to get into cryptocurrency because not all people are up into using this type of existing currency because they would much prefer having their fiat than using cryptocurrency that is down in terms of price at its current state. Many people would still think of another way to access their money even if it is not on a physical manner. If people do really choose to think of using cryptocurrency at this point of time, then we will not be having this current situation we have in the cryptocurrency market.

With the current realities on ground, people may be encouraged to use digital currency but a stable coin will be most likely advised to avoid people encountering losses due to bitcoin and altcoin volatility. Cryptocurrency is easier and faster than all these itune and gift card.

Did you also see the news that they are rushing into WeChat Pay which has been a popular payment method there for long?

Bitcoin is really lacking, there is a level of adoption I wish that Bitcoin will attain. If companies like Amazon and Alibaba will start adopting Bitcoin as a payment method on their site it’s really going to help boost the adoption for Bitcoin. Whenever people wants to make payment on these platforms they will always see the Bitcoin option and when they see it regularly they will be urged to try out Bitcoin. I’m seriously looking forward to this.

it is only a matter of time when will they integrate bitcoin as part of their payment method. i believe, with what we are experiencing right now, they will seriously look into it. this is one of the perfect situations where crypto can be used as payment method without using the paper money in the process. and you have a point on that, if people will constantly see the bitcoin option, they will surely try at some point. and if they have smooth experience, they will definitely try it again next time and aside from that, they will endorse the crypto usage to their family, friends or colleagues. word of mouth is a very powerful marketing technique out there.

With the current realities on ground, people may be encouraged to use digital currency but a stable coin will be most likely advised to avoid people encountering losses due to bitcoin and altcoin volatility. Cryptocurrency is easier and faster than all these itune and gift card.
people's tendency to use crypto in trading or as a means of payment is very low. most of them make short trades to benefit from the movements in the market. functionally crypto as a means of payment I think is still not realized.

The whole thing supposed to be as you suggested, literally the pandegic ought bring moreusage to the use of crypto tokens as traditional cash are not currently suitable as means of payment  but cryptocurrency market isn't the only affected investment option out there.... The virus caused a global crisis that has affected the smooth running of the entire world.... I'm sure the cryptocurrency market will bounce back once this pandemic disease is over

This could be good to use cryptocurrency instead physical cash. Stock exchange money can't be use as a digital currency, so it should dump but crypto can encourage people to use it as a digital currency. Although China almost control Corona virus in their country and market will recover price.

I believe that Debit Cards are also an easy way to get infected with the coronavirus since cashiers use to touch them in order to process your payment at a retail store. Being cashless with truly digital payments removes this issue. In a world where the economy is collapsing, people will lose trust in central banks worldwide. This will pave the way for the growth of decentralized finance via the use of crypto and Blockchain technology. By making payments in a truly digital way (no physical cash or cards required), people could easily avoid spreading the disease worldwide. After all, it's no secret that physical bills/banknotes are in circulation. They pass between many people's hands which proves to be an extreme risk to everyone in the mainstream world. Debit/credit cards can be used to pay at stores physically, but some cashiers take your card to process the payment. The safest best is crypto where money is truly intangible and safe from emerging diseases in the real world.

The fact that crypto is extremely volatile in price, could scare away many people as we know them. For once, Bitcoin was hailed to be a store of value and a safe-haven asset that would protect you in times of need. Last Thursday (March 12, 2020), Bitcoin has proven us wrong as it lost 50% of its price in a single day. It's this reason why it's hard to attract people into using decentralized cryptocurrencies for daily payments. So far, national currencies (Fiat) are the winner when it comes to price stability. Most people have resorted to cashing out precious metals and even crypto in exchange for Fiat in times like these.

Saying that people will use crypto more thoroughly with the recent events of the coronavirus disease, it's more like a dream than anything else. Of course, anything could happen in the future since Bitcoin and crypto are still in their infancy. As they mature, they could be used as a "safe-haven" against the existent monetary system. In the meantime, Fiat will be used in times of turmoil until the banking system collapses in its entirety. Only then, people will resort to alternative forms of money that are free from a central authority. I hope that someday, crypto will be used more thoroughly when undesired events happen in the mainstream world. Just my thoughts ;D

Cryptocurrency should be use at this point in time but so far no government is taking the effort to recommend such usage and implemented it thoroughly, many have undermined it's usage instead people dump their share and converted it to fiat, because with fiat they have lot of option to use it in hoarding foods and other basic needs.

I dont think so, because if they will consider using crypto during this time the market would not be in red status. Its just an option when it comes to online payment and fluctuations are not suited for people who want to use it for transaction and not for investment. Nevertheless thinking that the current situation can give other people an idea about crypto is good either way because it can spread awareness about its existence and might convince others to use it.

I don't think so at all considering credit and debit card payment is so prevalent and much more familiar to consumers than cryptocurrency. I could see some more crypto usage in regards to things like online gambling, but most people looking at online gambling will also likely use debit or credit card payment. Now many states are disinfecting their cash or quarantine it when it enters central banks. This is one of the measures taken to combat the spread of coronavirus. Some states even explicitly call at this time to make more use of various non-cash forms of payments. This is unlikely to significantly increase the use of cryptocurrency, because it is not yet so liquid in society. Most likely, states will accelerate work on the issue of their national stable coins.

You stated clearly that people will look for other ways to spend their funds safely but that can't be said about the industry at the moment especially after the massive decline of price it experience during last few days panic bloodbath. People will look for other ways to avoid having contact with others while they transact and at the same time keep their funds safe therefore if anything related to the cryptocurrency industry was to benefit from this are stablecoin since the volatility nature of this coins are minimum when compared to others like bitcoin.

Assuming the industry was experiencing some stability as it was previously observe then it would had been easier to attract new enthusiast but since it couldn't be considered as a safe heaven as it was previously presumed, it's now more difficult to present the technology as the solution instead digital currencies will be considered a perfect solution by the noncoiners.

there's is a point because previously the number of acquaintances is limited into the crypto world,  and then it is suddenly increasing since there was a bad news outbreak about a cash payment which is very risky, and probably many people will encourage to use crypto for their daily basis, and they realize that online payment method is a good solution to prevent virus contact.

This is common sense, of course online transaction limits the contact from different person, but there certain factors why crypto isnt ready for it yet. First, this isnt regulated meaning, government awares the existence of this however even it is useful, they cant recommend it to mass people inspite of its usefulness. Also, not all people are know cryptocurrency and needed some background learning. This is applicable maybe to those countries that recently announced legalization and support for crypto such as India and South Korea.

maybe because it's still in this incident, people would think of using digital currency for a while (but most of it is not crypto)
in my country too many have used digital transactions such as online taxi payment, ordering food and others, but the thing to remember is there is no crypto here, only the concept is applied.
because people still use their own currencies, only digital transactions.

Because there is currently no country that authorizes the use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment, other than that not many people understand about cryptocurrency so that not many merchants accept crypto. I think cryptocurrency will still be considered a digital asset because there is no government regulation yet

When compared to the decline in stock indexes in several countries, I think the decline in prices and marketcap value is still slightly lower. I think the current price decline is due to a brief panic and it is possible that in the next few weeks the crypto market will recover due to the moment of Bitcoin halving and also the interest of new investors.

I don 't understand why there is such a fuss about fiat money. I think that many people have credit cards , and accordingly, there is no need for such people to pay with fiat. yes, I also think with you that this is a "win-win" situation for crypto. it's not just a matter of online payment, comrade, but there are other aspects. while the corona virus forces people not to leave the house and physical contact to avoid rapid transmission, then in the case of work it will be reduced in terms of productivity. my point here is, the crypto market should be a solution to this problem. where working at home, and withdrawing can also be done at home. amid the stock market investment which also plummeted, even before corona attacked, this should indeed be a "win-win" situation for the crypto market.

Come on Crypto, get up

I am not seeing that's going to happen, its not the pandemic that will drive adoption to crypto but the government regulation where they accept crypto and so people would trust it. Corona virus is a dangerous disease, but it will not stay forever, sooner or later, the vaccine will come out and people again will start using paper money as covid-19 will not be a big threat anymore with vaccine available.

Thing is it is quite too late for it to happen right now, because some people would need to go outside to buy crypto, as some don't even have the access to credit cards. It might encourage some users, but those users like me if I just recently know about Bitcoin wouldn't be able to buy through credit cards.

For the time being, there are still many ways to spend money without directing contact with viruses, like using a credit and debit card, and it will really help to prevent contracting the corona virus.

Nope, but at least it would open their minds to the fact that if breaking the chain of how the virus is spreading then digital currencies should surely be used in the coming days. I heard the issue about China actually disinfecting currencies that come to the banks before issuing it out to the people again. I believe this has even help control the spread because yesterday i heard Wuhan did not record any new case of COVID-19.

the market will not stabilize imo because cryptos are not stable  .also the virus is said the reason for the decline so how can you say it will be the way to improve it ?  and what you mean by resolving current condition ? related to the virus  ? well no crypto cant really do a thing to lessen the virus damage .

it cant solve or wont make the virus dissapear and all bring back to normal  but cryptos do also have thier own business and they can only solve those issues .

many people have already answered this question in this thread, I just want to add something that I noticed that nobody spoke. Well, since I am on the forum I see most people talking about Hold, this means that most people are looking at cryptocurrencies as a way to make a profit. it is clear that for most people in the crypto world, cryptocurrencies are investment and not currency. if you look at things from that point, then people will prefer to use Fiat to buy food and when the coronavirus situation is controlled they will think about investments. But if the whole community used cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, I believe the story would be different

If that was the case, then we would have never witnessed the prices crashing by 50%. From what I have understood, the cryptocurrencies will proliferate if the economy is in a good state. On the other hand, if we are having an economic meltdown (similar to the case that is happening right now), then similar to the other markets the cryptocurrency market will also get adversely affected.

Am just hearing about this type of transmission associated with this virus, nevertheless I do not think it will make people to go for crypto. Although there are many people into crypto already but for newbies especially to get involved now due to this virus is a slim chance because most are focused on how to secure their lives and savings, and owing to the volatility in this space it might be a turn off. On the other hand, I would say that the current situation has made some people to go deep into crypto now so as to secure their funds since stock is not left out as well and Bitcoin most especially stands a good chance of recovery once everything settles down.

It is really a fact that you can get infected with a corona virus if you have made contact with the things that was previously touch with an infected person, that is why physical money or fiat currency is one of the common ways that can be touch by an infected person. So using cryptocurrency is the bestest solution for you not to make any contact or get in touch to different people because you can be able to pay in any stores through online.

Although this is a great opportunity to showcase the strength and unique difference between crypto and fiat currencies, The government and central banks are fighting harder to strengthen the fiat money. Recently, various countries around the world has dolled out money to support the economy of their country to avoid high deflection and poverty raise. such ways will continue to strength fiat usage over cryptocurrency.
Crypto needs more awareness and adoption.

Almost all of the countries are trying to promote the usage of Digital Currency since they are some people says that the virus can be transmitted through bank notes which is very alarming. We must look for a better way on how are we going to transact safely and the usage of digital currency is the best answer into it. So, while there is no cure yet in corona virus, you better use digital currency for transacting.

That's certainly true, mate. Credit card payments are still the norm in the mainstream world. People will not want to look elsewhere especially when Fiat is largely trusted by major retailers, businesses, and merchants alike. With the recent events of Bitcoin's "bloodbath" on the crypto market, I doubt most people would want to use it more thoroughly. Only crypto enthusiasts, tech gurus, anarchists, etc. will still use Bitcoin no matter what. But everyday people will find Fiat more attractive than BTC for many obvious reasons.

The only way I see people using Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency more thoroughly is if the current banking system collapses. By then, people will find alternative ways to conduct transactions by relying on "safe-haven" assets like Bitcoin or Gold. It may take quite a long time before we'll be able to see people using crypto heavily for daily payments as it's still in its infancy. I believe that once scalability, privacy, and volatility issues are solved, people will find crypto much more attractive than Fiat itself.

Nonetheless, I'm confident that someday crypto will find the light at the end of the tunnel. With just 11 years since inception, it has managed to do pretty well. I'd say we should give it more time until the space matures enough for an ever-growing rate of adoption in the mainstream world. Now that most governments have recognized crypto's legitimacy, it should be a matter of time before everyday people join in the revolution. Just my thoughts ;D

It's the most obvious way. Bitcoin is well known and has an established market position so why not turn to to it for help when you cannot use cash and at the same time want to decrease the number of fiat transactions so that online banking doesn't get laggy like netflix and youtube.

I hear there's a problem with the Internet connection in some parts of Europe bacause too many people stay at home watching streaming services. You can make all people suddenly stop using cash and switch to online banking because the platforms are not ready for it.

No. People will be ordering food and supplies off of Amazon, GrubHub, Doordash, whatever- but they won't be using cryptocurrency to do it.

Technically yes, mass adoption in crypto has been applied thus it's very accessible for the people to buy crypto without actually going to banks or whatsoever. Some people will prefer global transaction via crypto since it's quicker and cheaper. Although some users prefer mobile banking, it's not very convenient for them to transfer it to a person who's in another country thus crypto can be their alternative option.

That could happen, but if they cannot use their credit/debit card, they will search the other way to buy their daily needs, and in that time, maybe they will try to use crypto as the solution. With crypto, they can use to buy not just their daily needs but they can buy anything they want, but with one condition, the merchant can accept the crypto for the payment.

I don't think people will encourage to use cryptocurrency because you know cryptos are volatile, maybe they prefer to use their digital local currency but it will be good if people use cryptos so the market will recover. :)

...

I don 't understand why there is such a fuss about fiat money. I think that many people have credit cards , and accordingly, there is no need for such people to pay with fiat. Therefore, from the point of infection spread, there is no difference whether you will pay with a credit card or make a payment with cryptocurrency.

That will happen in the country which many people have credit cards, but not all people in that country will have credit cards. People still use fiat, but in these situations, they will hard to pay use fiat because many of them are staying in their homes. We don't know how the virus will spread, but we can prevent with care, and we can reduce direct contact with other people.

I think that if a person does not have a credit card, they will not be able to use cryptocurrency. Because the presence of a credit card indicates the financial capabilities of a person. Therefore, such a person may not have the necessary minimum for calculating a cryptocurrency such as a smartphone, because a push-button phone will not be able to help him with calculations.

I think it's still too early to say the coronavirus impact has diminished. According to some experts, the impact of coronavirus will last for several months and I think will affect world economic growth. Regarding the impact of coronavirus with the use of cryptocurrency, I think it is still too far even though many countries already allow cryptocurrency transactions

I see this news: https://cointelegraph.com/news/italian-bank-opens-bitcoin-trading-to-12-million-during-lockdown

Specially that Italy is one of the hardest if not the hardest country to be hit with the cover-19 virus, it make sense for most of them to used crypto. However, I'm reading that there is some catch, specially with fees and you need to be a Hype customer. I just do hope that there are more stores in Italy that will accept bitcoin as payment, but if the country is in a lockdown, I don't know how will they purchase goods in order to survived in this crisis.

It's obviously if you are a crypto enthusiast, but country like Italy which I think is very slow as far as crypto adoption is concerned, this is a big and probably eye opener for them.

I hear there's a problem with the Internet connection in some parts of Europe bacause too many people stay at home watching streaming services. You can make all people suddenly stop using cash and switch to online banking because the platforms are not ready for it.

Just imagine in some South East Asian region wherein internet is very slow, lol.

At this time it won't. People could transfer the virus through bani notes from one hand to another but now people are more cautioned to wash their hands and sanitize it after handling cash notes . So it's not yet a scenario for crypto to take over .

But it's much easier, time-saving and economical if things are in place for Cryptocurrency usage in this time of a pandemic, maybe future generation will take the lead and promote the usage of Cryptocurrency when another of this kind appears but hopefully never again but we really can't tell.

Nobody would be caring about crypto right now if you ask me, right now is not the time to take a look at crypto and think about how it could be used a lot better, it is now the time to make sure we survive this. Online payments are still a thing and many many people forget about it, if online payments exists and you can simply buy anything you want off amazon using your credit card, bitcoin is not bringing all that much difference, IF that wasn't an option bitcoin would have been 100k today right away, but its not.

All in all, nobody learned nothing from this corona thing and crypto together, sure we learned that we should not mock pandemics because they could become so much worse, and sure we learned that crypto is a volatile thing, but that's about it.

Exactly. Once people see the true benefits of crypto over Fiat, they'll adopt it for their own benefit. When the financial system collapses, everyone will be looking for alternative ways to conduct transactions in the mainstream world. Crypto's decentralized design gives the power back to the people. No one is in-charge of its supply or issuance rate as everything is governed by the protocol's rules. Decentralized finance is believed to be the future, as it proves to be quite convenient in times of need.

While the recent events of the coronavirus pandemic has shocked markets a little, most cryptocurrencies have retained a high price. Bitcoin, being the first cryptocurrency ever created, has properties similar to that of Gold. Its unmatched security and limited supply makes it a true winner in the Blockchain space. People may be cashing everything for Fiat right now. But once trust is lost in the world's monetary system, you can expect a greater degree of adoption within decentralized cryptocurrencies like never before.

With crypto, people can send money around the world cheaper and faster than an ordinary bank or traditional payment processor would. I believe that most people don't realize the true potential of crypto and Blockchain technology yet. But with due time, we'll be able to see great results in the level of adoption of this emerging industry. Until then, Fiat will be the currency of choice for everyday payments especially in a crisis like the one we're facing today. Crypto needs more time to mature for people to gain trust on it. Price volatility in terms of Fiat is what kills it. Hopefully, this matter would be resolved as time passes by. Just my thoughts ;D

personally the only lesser known altcoins who I think will make it through this pandemic, are the ones with bigger plans than just being on exchanges.
Like TEM for example, they have an LOI with Anguilla to provide them with a national digital currency and deals with more countries in the works.
This pandemic will cause most IEOs and ICOs to fail but TEM never did that, privately funded and eyes on the future.

Maybe, but we are my really sure about that. I already heard that lots of people in China are no longer making use of bank notes and are now making use of WeChat Pay, whereas for other countries it is PayPal. People might be avoid cryptocurrencies because they are volatile, stable coins don’t even stand a chance here because no one knows about them, unlike Bitcoin you’re not going to find places where stable coins are being accepted.

Maybe a time will come when people will start investing in Bitcoin, all these things might have happened and discouraged a lot of people, but don’t be surprised that the price might pump at anytime.

Why would people change to cryptocurrencies only because they want to stop using cash? They can still use fiat money electronically with debit or credit cards and there are numerous apps to pay with fiat. Unfortunately it seems that cash will gradually become obsolete and unless people understand the fundamentals of some cryptocurrencies and want a decentralized currency, they are still going to use fiat money electronically.

I also heard a similar bike, but I assume that this is just a joke or a hunch. There is no information that the virus is transmitted through money.
Most of the reasons are handshakes and constant touching your face with dirty hands, this leads to a high degree of infection.
Given that everyone will be in complete isolation, it is possible that people will begin to look at cryptocurrencies that have fallen in price as an opportunity for investment.

As the pandemic continues to expand across the world, people will rely on digital payments to prevent contagions in every way. It's no secret that physical cash transports germs and bacteria when its goes from hand to hand. While traditional payment processors and credit cards can be still used in the online world, they're not as cheap and convenient as crypto is. Cryptocurrencies provide more flexibility to anyone worldwide since they're not controlled by any central authority. Sending a payment through crypto is like sending physical cash in the digital realm. After all, physical cash is anonymous and fungible. We already have cryptocurrencies like Monero and Zcash which fits the bill nicely. Using credit cards or traditional payment processors might take even days for your payment to process (not to mention that there's no privacy whatsoever). But everything will depend on a specific person's needs whenever he/she wants to use Fiat online or crypto for daily payments.

With the life-threatening coronavirus changing our lives completely, I believe that cyberspace will grow like never before. This is still the beginning, as people are cashing out everything for Fiat in order to pay for their necessities. But once the banking system collapses in its entirety, it's hoped that there will be renewed interest into crypto itself. I'm confident that this will be the year of crypto as people use it as a safe-haven against the existent monetary system. It'll be a slow process, but we'll get there soon. Considering that crypto is decentralized, it's a resilient form of money that's able to withstand anything in its path. People will realize that it's a better option than Fiat, leading towards increased mainstream adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech like never before. Just my opinion :)

Actively transmitted without the use of money, but there is a chance of transmitting through money, right? Then why risk it? Just because the virus can transmit through 50 different ways, does not mean that we should no longer care and take precautions of not transmitting it through money. The virus can live us to 24 hours on paper. And remember, the money is goes through the hands of at least more than 10 people in one single day and carries lots of other germs along with it. If people know how many different kinds of germs exist on a paper money, they would start opting in for cashless payment system.

That's certainly true, mate. The pandemic will definitely encourage people to use online services more thoroughly in their daily lives. Digital payments will become a big hit, considering the benefits they provide over physical cash. After all, the latter is known to carry germs and bacteria with it. It's not safe to hand in physical cash because of the health risks they provide. That's where Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies come into play. You can send money across borders at a fraction of a cost without intermediaries. That's not possible with bank transfers or even credit/debit cards. Most people haven't realized this yet, but they will once they get to learn about crypto more thoroughly.

Like it or not, COVID-19 will change our lives like never before. It might radically transform every known industry in the digital realm. Long gone will be the days where you'll have to visit a store physically to make purchases using physical cash. In the same way, visiting a college or university will be a thing of the past as it shifts to the online world. With crypto's fast transaction speeds and virtually low fees (unlike Fiat), a new world of opportunities is opened. New business ventures will emerge thanks to the benefits of crypto's Blockchain technology. If the pandemic continues to extend itself as time goes by, I believe that crypto's adoption in the mainstream world will grow like never before. Which is why, I'm extremely confident that the coronavirus "COVID-19" will encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly for mainstream transactions. Just my opinion :)

That's certainly true, mate. Digital payments existed long before the coronavirus pandemic came into existence. But now that everyone is practicing social distancing, digital payments are the only way to make commerce in the free world. I know that it's possible to use Fiat in a digital manner, but crypto provides far more benefits than it. Most people are still focused on Fiat even if many governments are increasing the inflation of their underlying currency. It's no doubt that Fiat is the "go-to" payment of choice accepted by merchants, businesses, and individuals worldwide. Since crypto still lacks merchant acceptance, people have recurred to payment processors like PayPal and Skrill for their daily payments in the online world.

Nonetheless, it's no secret that crypto's volatility makes it quite difficult for anyone to use it as a real currency. A currency needs to be stable in price to be used as intended. Until now, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies only work as a store of value than anything else. Once the crypto market stabilizes and blockchains become scalable for the world, I'd bet people would join the crypto train like never before. There's hope that crypto will be largely adopted by everyday people, the longer it takes for the virus to disappear in its entirety. Things could become a lot more interesting once the BTC halving takes places in the upcoming weeks. Either people will use crypto more thoroughly during the pandemic, or all the other way around. Just my opinion :)

I think it wouldn't. Though government are warning people about the transmission of virus through fiat, it doesn't necessarily mean that they encourage crypto. There are alternatives such as debit card/credit card, online payment. We should not cross out the number of people who has access to crypto and the recent blood bath which I think would discourage some people to start investing in crypto.

I think people will still not choose to get engage into using cryptocurrencies just because of the recent situation that relates to the Coronavirus-19 pandemic although there is a point that getting into cashless will be a way to stop the spread of virus that can be get from physical money passage on hand, there can still be another way for people to resolve this problem that makes them use digital banking which most banks are now into, as well as the usage of credit cards for cash less transaction. Maybe people will be pushed to get into using cryptocurrency if and only if there is already no other way they can be able to use their money. Meaning cryptocurrency will be their last resort or option to do if no other way can be possible. In relation to that, not all merchants are accepting cryptocurrency as a way of payment so still people would be reliant on using physical money or if not, usage of credit cards or digital banking which uses e-wallets.

Pandemic or no pandemic, people won't change the money they use, they will only change the way they use it. So if they like fiat, they simply switch to a digital form of money, that's all. They won't change to bitcoin for the sake of switching to digital. This isn't how it works.

You have a point there, mate. People will continue to use Fiat digitally via the form of credit/debit cards just as they had before the pandemic. Digital payments have been here for a long time, where people can pay for goods and services online with Fiat. However, crypto proves to be better than Fiat in the sense that you're the only one in control of your own money. Besides that, fees are lower than traditional credit/debit cards while transactions are blazing fast. It's like paying with physical cash in the digital realm. There's no need to verify your ID to be able to use crypto, giving you true privacy/anonymity. These benefits will surely attract people in the mainstream world that have been practicing social distancing lately. As more people become interconnected, they'll be able to explore the advantages crypto has over Fiat for daily payments. The only downside of crypto is the volatile prices across the market, but that's not an issue if you're using it directly for daily payments.

Nonetheless, time will tell us what the outcome of the coronavirus pandemic will be within the course of the year. The longer it takes for COVID-19 to disappear, the better it'll be for crypto's adoption in the mainstream world. I'm confident that people will use crypto more thoroughly in a world where the banking system is about to collapse. Whatever happens, at least crypto will be here to stay for a very long time. Just my opinion :)

If only there are more and more platforms which accepts crypto as a means of payment then it would have been the best option, therefore will encourage people to use it more thoroughly. But take a look at the world today, and ask questions like, can a taxi accept crypto? Can you go to the salon, make your hair and pay with crypto? Only very few accepts while In many countries this is not possible, to make it worst, most are yet to fully accept crypto let alone platforms accepting it into their payment systems. Am not trying to be limit the good side of crypto rather am pointing to the fact that, we need more exposure, we need more platforms to start utilizing crypto then people will start using it more thoroughly and preferably since it comes with lower transaction fee.

I think It would be the around way around rather than using cryptocurrency to survive the hunger. You're probably right and there is no way to think about huge crypto adoption. The current situation might be harsh and it feels that people aren't making the investment to crypto because of having unstable market flows. They are probably worried about the future because of what they heard around (bad news) and might changing their appreciation towards the market. Of course, we are more likely confident that the market will move high but wondering if the community will think the same as what we think about.

It doesn't mean that since paper money can transmit virus, people will just use crypto.
What I see is that we will get a share of the market, the fact that people will try to use online money, then we are close to it, and maybe some would consider using crypto, especially the gamblers who can't afford to gamble in fiat casinos since  most physical casinos now are close.

The presence of coronavirus isn't main cause for people to use crypto as payment because there is still credit card as another way to prevent transmission of the virus. In addition, there are still many people who don't know about crypto.

The longer it takes for COVID-19 to disappear, the better it'll be for crypto's adoption in the mainstream world. I'm confident that people will use crypto more thoroughly in a world where the banking system is about to collapse...
You probably didn't have any bad intentions, but crypto adoption should not be attained at the cost of thousands of lives, this pandemic you talk about is taking lives away and is affecting every human on the face of the earth, I see no way people would even be concerned in using cryptocurrency to promote it's adoption, their concern would be fixed on survival, and fiat is quicker and easier to assess and use for a larger number of people, we should also be worried about governments taking strict measures and regulations on cryptocurrencies after the pandemic to bring back their economy after this collapse.

Governments will impose digital payments more after this because they may have to reprint all the money to ensure there are no infected currency notes which may cost them a lot so we are going to see more digital payments but crypto payments is a question to be asked from the individuals who knows something about world's economy will move to decentralized rather than using an inflating fiat.

That's certainly true, mate. Our options with crypto are still limited. This is probably because the same is volatile in price, while that's not the case with Fiat. It's no wonder why most people have been cashing out crypto for Fiat in these times of need. Yet, I'm hoping we'd get to see light at the end of the tunnel. As people practice social distancing, they'll be eager to discover new trends in the online world. This could trigger a boost in crypto's adoption as we know it. New business ventures might take place soon, as the pandemic continues to expand worldwide. As long as people are aware of crypto's benefits relative to Fiat, they'll use it for daily payments.

That's why I believe that the coronavirus "COVID-19" disease will encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly. Especially now when we're entering a global recession. Governments around the world are printing more money in order to "alleviate" the economic crisis. But at the of the day, people will lose their spending power as Fiat becomes debased by countries worldwide. It's up to us to introduce people to the world of crypto, in these times of need. People in the mainstream world will realize there's a better alternative than Fiat which is outside of the control of central banks and governments worldwide. Once that happens, adoption for crypto will increase like never before. No one knows what will happen in the upcoming months, so it's best to act now (buy and "hodl" crypto) before it's too late. Just my thoughts ;D

After all, the physical money could spread the virus faster than virtual money.
People are advised to using non physical money to avoid getting infected and cryptocurrency is one kind of virtual money in the world.
so i think yes, it will encourage people to use crypto.

Let's hope that the pandemic doesn't last for long. But if it does, you could expect people to look for new ways to preserve their capital. Trust in the world's banking system will be lost as central banks and governments continue to inflate national currencies. The only safe-haven assets for times of need will be Gold and Bitcoin itself. Most often, Bitcoin is compared to Gold because of its scarcity and censorship-resistant properties. No one controls Bitcoin, just like it's the case with Gold today. Now that people are practicing social distancing, they will become more interconnected in the online world. It's up to us to encourage the adoption of crypto like never before, in order to decentralize the worldwide economy. But if we're sitting ducks, we cannot expect people to become aware of an alternative financial system that's free from the likes of central banks and governments worldwide.

The ultimate decision lies on the person himself. Some people will still use Fiat over crypto, because it's largely accepted as payment method in the mainstream world. Others will use crypto more thoroughly for daily payments because it's outside the scope of third-parties. Depending on situations in life, will be the currency to use for mainstream transactions. While Fiat can still be used online via credit/debit cards or a payment processor like PayPal, crypto is still a better solution for fast and cheap payments (depending on which cryptocurrency is used).

Nonetheless, governments are starting to explore CBDCs more thoroughly during the pandemic. If they begin rolling out digital currencies to the world, it would greatly benefit the adoption of crypto and Blockchain technology as we know it. Time will tell us what will happen with the entire economy once the pandemic is put to rest. Just my opinion :)

I used to think the Corona virus pandemic will help foster crypto adoption, but unfortunately the overral market cap for crypto saw a notable decline when this COVID19 pandemic led to lockdown in various nations. In the real sense, if bank notes are used less often (and in some places people do not accept bank notes due to the risk of Corona virus), more funds should be channeled to crypto market. Many still prefer online bank transfers in their daily life as an alternative to bank notes, and not crypto. If we crypto enthusiasts keep educating the populace about the benefits of using crypto for daily transactions, it will go a long way.

I don't think so. Personally cryptocurency adoption should not come through this way to the world. This infections can be curtailed if proper measures is taking into consideration. It's better to gain adoption through a positive way that solves a huge problem that doesn't seems to have any good or near alternative to it. This will make the adoption last.

I agree with you. Currently, they tend to sell Bitcoin or Gold to hold cash because if you hold cash, you can buy a lot of necessities and not spend too much time waiting. In my country, people tend to sell Bitcoin more because holding Bitcoin during this time does not make much sense and it is still best to be cash. In my opinion, very few people use crypto to pay, so you need to consider more in this regard.

On a positive note. NO, they may not. Honestly there is no reason for them to think about the cyrpotcurrency in this downward economy. Most of the people have to think about their economical situation right now.

Governments will have some bans on using their own money, for example limits on how much they can spend in a month (Ex. Indian Reserve Bank), this is to avoid any upcoming crisis in terms of financing. Since, business, industrialisation and jobs have hampered now, money is not flowing with great liquidity and hence people will be less bothered to put their money in crypto currency where volatility leads the market.

For me there is no safeheaven investment even bitcoin and gold cannot be considered as safe investment. The value of bitcoin and gold were recently dumped when the crisis is started. The safeheaven is really not existing because all of the investments have risks after all, it is us who will manage to handle the risks very well. I think there is a chance the this pandemic will lead for other people to use cryptocurrencies in their daily lives.

with rules that have to stay at home, there will obviously be two problems that occur. it could indeed be calm seeing the fact that this epedemic is treatable, so that he can at any time use the internet to observe the movements of bitcoin and altcoin as well as all crypto movements and use his time to do so well. but not a few who are affected and frightened by the development of the epedemic and this certainly does not want to bother anymore with confusion and shut down by not wanting to be connected to the internet and just pleasing yourself so as not to be more afraid.

I hope this corona epedemic can end soon and the crypto movement can go well and recover.

This post reminds me of pictures I saw and what I read online a few days ago about Italy of the streets littered with money without anyone picking them up because of the fear of contermination of Coronavirus. This virus is real. I do not think this outbreak is helping to boost crypto in anyway because people are only looking for what fiat can buy them to survive and not to gather wealth.

Right now most of the governments are trying to create a counter measure to prevent the further infections of the virus and if physical banknotes will make the situation worst then they surely look for an alternative. Bitcoin and other currencies will be an option of course as they are digital assets especially to those countries who have no digital currency yet.

But as of the moment, frankly speaking the governments are not yet ready to use any crypto currencies as they have no control with and there are many hindrances that need to be fix first before it can be implemented. China is already in the move in developing their own currencies and once it will happen then more and more countries will surely launch their own currencies also. People are dependent to their respective governments so right now all of the decisions are on the government side if they will temporarily use a crypto to counter this virus or not.

The government will not be willing to use bitcoin for its payment method because bitcoin cannot be regulated, and the use of bitcoin, for the time being, does not contribute to the benefit of each country. Bitcoin is only a bridge between fiat and each country's digital currency. Bitcoin will be remembered in history as a forerunner to the creation of the digitalization of money. In the future, man will use digital money in each country where he lives, not bitcoin.

Therefore one of the spreads can be through paper money, then everyone will try to avoid using paper money. And until now many countries don't

Possibly yes, this will be from the angle of gamblers, the world have been put on hold, as the world is facing a pandemic which has made many countries to forcefully lockdown their countries to avoid the spread of covid-19. Gamblers have taking to the world of cryptocurrency to gamble through online casinos because the traditional means of gambling has been put on hurt by the governments across the world through restrictions on their citizens.

The gambling world has recorded the highest revenue generation for the few months we have spend so far on the lockdown. Many are able to keep themselves busy through the gambling online. Personally, I have been doing things through online most especially the gambling which keeps me more active whenever I get through it a day. Cryptocurrency is one thing that has happened to me that u feel positively.

China can only consider this after the crisis had been reduced to the minimal. have thought on the gap the asset fills in the time of crisis but those in the crisis at a point are no more concern about the toilet paper and fund but the food in store, protecting themselves and mourning the victims. After the crisis Governments, Financial institute and internet media will consider another form of keeping asset/fund and transacting with each other fast, secure, decentralized, no third party and a level of anonymity.

Well unfortunately most of people that I've seen instead of investing they are withdrawing due to fear of unstability. It does makes sense though when people have too much time and is not working they tend to have less money and would prefer to invest themselves into enrolling some kind of online courses. Investing at this hard time only available for those with excess money.

Maybe digitally we could actually get some sort of spike? I mean think about it, a lot of people are staying at home right now which means there must be a lot of people who are buying stuff online nowadays, and with a lot of crypto people staying at home as well that means people must be preferring to get the crypto payments as well.

So, with an uptick in the amount of crypto people are spending these companies could take a bigger look at it and talk with other business owner friends and tell them how the crypto payments are increasing during the lockdown and they could add as well and this could create some snowball effect that results with bitcoin being accepted in more places. I don't know if this is going on right now but this is the best case I can think of right now.

The outstanding response, but you have to learn to see things from another perspective, with this pandemic, of course, everyone will do activities from home but certainly still need food, to get food that person must make transactions with food vendors, transactions using money cash will potentially transmit the virus, this is where the cryptocurrency plays an alternative method of payment for a sale, not for investment.

That's certainly true, mate. If Fiat can still be used online, why people would resort to crypto in the first place? I know that the dreaded volatility makes crypto somewhat unattractive to the average person, but it still has greater benefits than Fiat itself. For instance, people using crypto can obtain true freedom over their own money. It's possible to achieve privacy for online payments performed with crypto. That's not possible with Fiat using either a payment processor like PayPal or a credit/debit card directly. Besides that, crypto provides better profit opportunities than Fiat itself because the way it was designed. Bitcoin is the world's largest cryptocurrency by market cap, with a deflationary model that keeps coin emission low every 4 years. At times, Bitcoin becomes extremely valuable giving you the opportunity to profit within a short time frame.

Despite all the benefits that crypto provides over Fiat, people are still comfortable in using the latter since it's been trusted for a very long time. People are skeptical to use something that's new and widely unstable for mainstream payments. I believe crypto needs more time to mature before people will be able to consider it as an alternative payment option in times of need. Until then, the average person will continue to cash out everything for Fiat during the coronavirus pandemic. The longer the outbreak takes to disappear, the more prices will decline across the market. This applies not only to crypto, but also stocks and precious metals. Since this is the first time crypto experiences times of turmoil, it'll be put up to the test in order to determine its true value proposition in the mainstream world. I'm hoping that people will be able to use crypto more thoroughly in times of need sometime in the future. Just my thoughts ;D

The question is complex and depends more on what will happen to fiat systems than on how attractive the cryptocurrency seems to the world.
Now historical things are happening, and we do not know how the economy will behave in crisis time tomorrow. Bitcoin can become something of a life buoy as one stable asset in such an unstable time.

yes no one knows when it happened because now I see the crisis has begun to recover a little because the world economy will not always collapse like this, if bitcoin is used as a place for coin investment that can have stable prices in my opinion it's wrong because of the movement of bitcoin prices which can not be determined when it goes up and when it goes down then bitcoin will become a place of investment that has a lot of high risk.

using crypto in global still needs time and work to every one to use. bitcoin is just a start of blockchain.we have long road in world to switch technology to blockchain platform.but this covid virus maybe change people view about blockchain and speed up some process.

Hmm it's hard to suppose. I think in the crisis many people are afraid of trying smth new with their money. Noone wants to loose, so using crypto looks like smth dangerous for those who have never ever tried that before.
I agree that there are so many crises around the world by the Corona virus, and they are afraid of losing their money let alone try new things they don't know, but anything can happen if there is a mentor who guides him into the crypto world, why not

Risk is always present to any kind of investment so it shouldn't be treated like that as long as you know how to do your research and you are looking for a much better way to lessen such risk then there should no problem that will going to take place. Bitcoin volatility might be things that investors are worrying but with this pandemic crisis to those who learned crypto market will be encourage to use this chain as an alternatives.

Despite the ongoing pandemic of the coronavirus, the Chinese government does not stand still and is actively engaged in the introduction of its digital renminbi, which they plan to launch fully in May. The digital yuan of China will also help to cope with the spread of coronavirus, so its appearance is now very important.
Of course, in conditions where coronavirus can remain on paper money for some time, cryptocurrency is in a very favorable position. This situation should lead to its more active use.

If Fiat collapses in its entirety, people might resort to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the market. The coronavirus outbreak has encouraged social distancing, so this should boost the adoption of digital payments in the online world. Credit/debit cards can still be used online, but crypto has greater benefits. Truly sovereign money will rule in the end as central banks are unable to rescue the world's economy. We're entering a recession and soon we could be experiencing a global economic depression. The longer it takes to find a cure or vaccine for COVID-19, the more people will stay interconnected in the online world. This will lead towards the discovery of crypto as an asset class that's outside the control of central banks and governments worldwide.

I strongly believe that the coronavirus disease will encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly. But even if it doesn't, we cannot deny that the world will be shifting its economy into the digital realm. Physical cash and credit/debit cards will cease to exist, paving the way for crypto and CBDCs. China has already announced the launch of a digital yuan, which could make people curious about crypto and Blockchain technology itself. We'll never know what will happen in the future as the same is truly unpredictable. But given crypto's success over time, it seems likely that it'll be here to stay for a very long time. Just my thoughts ;D

If we look at the events that exist today, the choice of digital money is a very good thing. The only way I see people using Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency more as if the current banking system collapses. People will find alternative ways to conduct transactions it's very accessible for the people to buy crypto without actually going to banks or Regarding the impact of coronavirus with the use of cryptocurrency.

I'm not sure if the virus will make more people use crypto, if anything people will become more aware but I think it will still be difficult to change people's perspectives. In my opinion having more people on board with crypto in general is a slow but nonetheless progressive improvement!

Their perspective will change when money is the talk.
And that talk will start when they see bitcoin starts rising again just like what we did before, the year 2017.

Crypto adoption was bound to increase overtime and i think with this pandemic the adoption will speed up so i guess post pandemic crypto will be adopted worldwide that is why i see huge surge in demand and value of top coins in next 2 years or so that will result in parabolic increase in the price of top coins.

Yes. Progress will be slower than many of us expected, but at least we'll get there. There's no denying that people are looking for alternatives to Fiat in a decaying global economy. They might as well choose Gold as their safe-haven asset in times of turmoil or Bitcoin altogether. The social distancing measures will encourage people to interact more in the online world, leading towards the discovery of crypto and Blockchain technology. Bitcoin is considered as the "Currency of the Internet" because it's the most widely used "medium of exchange" in cyberspace. With a deflationary model, most people could find Bitcoin attractive than anything else. Other cryptocurrencies like ETH and XMR will become widely used by people worldwide because of the features they provide for decentralized finance.

I believe that the COVID-19 outbreak has accelerated the development of CBDCs like never before. This will bring curiosity into everyday people in knowing what crypto and Blockchain tech are all about. Once CBDCs are launched, there could be greater exposure to decentralized cryptocurrencies in the mainstream world. We've seen how people's interests surged into crypto since the start of the pandemic. Most people searched about the Bitcoin halving on the Internet, as indicated by a web article. Binance on the other hand, said that there were new accounts created on its platform. All of this leads me to believe that coronavirus will encourage people to use crypto more throughly the longer it takes to disappear from the face of the Earth. Just my opinion :)

With a pandemic like this, many use crypto in transactions or use it in other ways, so I am sure that adoption will be faster if more people use crypto during the pandemic and continuing, I am sure there will be more demand in crypto and of course this will be a new breakthrough going forward his.

I like your optimism. However, pls, I would like to know what CBDCs mean.
The current trend of the market already shows that more people are coming to invest in crypto, although, it might not really have much effect now, we can see some changes already.
If governments would accept t use crypto as a control measure for the current pandemic, since there are controversies on decentralization, which will relinquish them of their power, they may likely want to create their own centralized digital currencies.
