Gambling is everything especially for those what we called compulsive gamblers or those addict on gambling, but it made me realize, why they get so addicted in gambling? if gambling can be the reason for them to lost their money, properties, relationship to family and friends, mental health and physical health. I know that there are gamblers who play because of fun and entertainment, but actually there are so many ways for us to make ourselves entertained without even losing our money.

But anyway, I can not judge and blame all those people because we are all different, we have different story in life.

I think the question that preceds this one is "Have you been gambling?" If the answer is yes, you will certainly know and are familiar why gambling is addictive. The experience and feeling of gambling is really nice. The thrill of looking forward to the outcome or the result of the game, the possibility of winning, the ecstasy of winning itself, the adrenaline to get back whenever lost, and so on are just some of the things I can mention why gamblers are really hooked on it. Even a moderate gambler like me knows how it feels to get lost in the gambling world.

I think we can be addicted not just to gambling but also in other things, but we don't realize that. We only say that people addicted to gambling because we see that person is playing gambling too much than the other people. They can be addicted to one thing if they like it, and they do it almost every day so they will feel something has lost if they don't play it in one day.

If you don't want to become addicted, you should have power for yourself to prevent the passion that will come to you to continue playing more rounds. Besides that, you should have a limit on the money itself because if you don't, you will not realize that you lose too much money.

Well said mate, actually I am not really used in gambling, so I do not understand what they feel when winning or playing gamble, Winning in gambling is the most and the primary reason of the gamblers why he or she became addicted on it because money is everything, money is power, secondly is the fun and the entertainment that gambling can give to us, based on some threads that I have read one of there main reason why they are gambling is because of the enjoyment that they find while gambling but actually for me they wouldn't be happy if they are losing the game, so I decided or I conclude that the main reason why people are being addict on gambling is because of winning the game and earn so much money.

There are so many reason why a person would get addicted to gambling.
We have those who gets thrilled and those who sees it as an easy way to get a big amount of money,
We also have those who gamble to escape some problems.

and why not ? its because gambling is like eveything else that makes us also addictive  .

 it gives you fun  , different kind of  and also profit or money which makes people come back especially if they won and get lucky alot of times but once two of these factors didnt met succesfully by gamblers  , that is the time they comeback in the hopes of fulfilling it  . this is the time they dont know that they are now already addicted too it and whats worst is that they continue even if they also know that what they do is not good anymore 

We all have different tastes when it comes to what we find entertaining. For some, they don't find it entertaining but we do. We are aware that when we are gambling, we are putting our money on the risk. We are gambling because we are ready to take the risk and we know there's something we can earn in exchange for that risk.

All gambling addicts started with just a small interest in earning money but because of greed, their interest grows that they cannot control it anymore. That's why I keep on saying that before we gamble, we should learn to control ourselves and emotion because, without it, it will lead us to addiction. I must say I know how to limit myself that's why even though I gambling, I can still control myself and I am not addicted to it.

To fill a void in their life and having some sort of fun doing it. Not every person becomes a gambling addict, there are around 8 billion people on earth so I doubt we can say there are too many addicts, even the number of drug addicts is higher than gambling addicts (mainly due to gambling not considered an addiction until too late) so I assume it is really that big of a trouble compare to other addictions and seen less problematic by many people.

When a person has absolutely nothing to do, goes to work, comes home and there is nothing on TV or no hobbies or basically nothing they like as much as gambling, they open up a website and starts playing, that is one of the biggest causes. In every addiction one step is fighting an addiction with keeping busy, give people something to do and they will have bigger chance to fight addiction.

 I personally see this more like a fun thing that people do for entertainment and not an addiction until they lose too much. Normally many things are like that, even just watching TV is an addiction if you do it 20 hours a day, there were people who got addicted to world of warcraft so much that they played 16 hours a day and it affected their lives. So gambling is basically like that, if you do too much of it that will lead to ruining your life, if you do it just enough its entertainment. Using drugs, or smoking, or drinking will lead to health stuff, you can smoke just a little, or drink a little but it still hurts you, gambling is not like that, if you gamble just little it won't do anything to you, that is why I still think it is not a severe addiction thing unless it ruins your whole life.

One major factor that causes the addition to people is beacuse of the greedy behaviour as everyone wants more and easy money . Gambling is such thing which they think can help in achieving the quick money but chances of making such money is not that easy and in order to make such money they keep playing under assumption that sometime they will make big money and in process they get addicted to it and cannot leave it when they wish too .

a gambler will not get to the level of addiction if the person has never won big.. average gambling addicts are people who have won big when they win big automatically their minds program that they will easily win.  even though they lose a lot, their minds say that don't stop, you will definitely win..

Gambling is fun. Sometimes when you're lucky, it is an easy money for you that's why you will urge to gamble more and more. As you try hard to gamble, when you lose, you really want to bring back all the money you've wasted that can also result to another loss. The cycle continues until you have nothing to feed for your family or for yourself. Addiction is very common not only gambling, it is applicable to anything that we are enjoying or interested in. But in reality, gambling is never a source of money but a source of happiness and a stress-reliever. Still prioritize yourself, work and family so that you will not become addicted to gambling.

Isn't it obvious op? Its sort of like an high which you could get from drugs etc and makes you feel awesome regardless of how shitty your life is which is why many gamblers are addicted to gambling.

Addiction would vary on what a gambler do hopes for. If entertainment then gambling can give that, on making money then gambling can also give such thing.
So high chances that people that do involve with gambling will really get addicted if he cant able to control himself towards it like spending money just like no tomorrow

You can answer all of this once you become a regular gambler. It's difficult to explain or able to understand for a casual gambler or those people who just gambled a few times a month why other people become a gambling addict.

Yes, that's true. If you experienced gambling at one point in your life, you will know the reason why it is so addictive. Even if I am not a gambling addict, and just a small time player, I know the feeling of adrenaline rush or excitement when you are into the game. So if you can't control yourself in gambling, you will really get addictive to it. You should know your limits and the reasons why you are playing, to avoid being a gambling addict.

This question does have different answers. We can't generalized it as people have different reasons, which also you mentioned.

We aren't in the position to say, "Hey you, there are another way to entertain yourself without losing money! Stop doing gambling!" as we don't know the story behind their gambling activity including.

But one thing is for sure, winnings are one of the reason, as always, why they become addicted. Nothing beat that experienced as we gamble. We always want to achieved it as much as possible so we keep coming back gambling our money.

Not really. People who always get lost in gambling will get addicted too because the factor that can make them become an addiction is because they will be curious about how to win the gambling games. Gambling when abused is a disease and just like any other disease it's deadly. There's a spirit/force behind gambling which the zeal to keep winning or hopes of winning when you aren't are the driving force behind gamblers getting addicted to the act. When you engage in an activity for so long, it becomes a part of you and that's how getting addicted to gambling developes. To my understanding, getting addicted isn't an unconscious development as many presume it to be, as addiction isn't as a result of a one time involvement in an act be it drug or gambling addiction. It's a gradual process that takes time to become a part of the abuser and that's why to stop you'll have to undergo a gradual process too instead of just trying to force your way out of the addiction.

Well, we cannot judge those compulsive gamblers or those addicts on gambling because we are not in their shoes, or we cannot feel what they have feel when gambling. I like the line that you have said about "We have different story of life", by that line we cannot blame them of being addicted on gambling.

Well said mate, gambling will become a threat for you if you get addicted on it, if you spend so much of your time gambling or if you are not doing more productive things compared to gambling, some compulsive gamblers forget their responsibility to their family and friends because they are only focused on gambling, they don't have care to anything unless the gambling.

There are so many ways for you to stop being addicted in gambling, but it all depends on a person if he or she really wants to change his or her lifestyle, they may use their family and friends to limit themselves from gambling, if you have strong relationship with your family, you won't mind gambling.

I believe every gambler already know the risk but their imagination, place and family not support to leave. There are many possible reasons why someone would try gambling and then get addicted to it: maybe they have problems in life they want to solve by earning money from it, or problems they want to escape by having fun and entertain themselves from gambling, but for me, most of all, I think most people  get into the gambling business from someone or a peer, engaged and somewhat adapted the addiction in it. i hate blaming people who become addicted because sometimes it is not their fault but the Family who is not supporting them from the start.

You will not become addicted if you are using your head, just like what OP said. He becomes realized and noticed that he become addicted to gambling, because of that awareness gamblers should always know the limit by their selves. If you will pursue gambling and treated this as your daily habit it will result in addiction.

I don't see that gambling should blame if people were addicted to it. It's us a gambler should know how to discipline and manage our selves from addictions.

I have two major responses to this your question that you seem to wonder why they are : one answer is to throw the question back to ask if there is something you have been addicted to in the past or present ? That is also the scenario with gambling.

Also particularly for gambling, it looks more of a retaliation. You lose and you want to have back what you have lost and further have a gain from it. This is how addiction starts , it is not usually deliberate.

Everyone has a different nature, point of view, and target (purpose) in gambling. For people who only want to have fun and don't think seriously about the rewards, I think they can have a lower chance to be addicted. But for people who target to win and always more desire once they get losses, I assume they can have a bigger chance to be addicted. So, the point is how you can control yourself and have a reasonable purpose in gambling.

Gambling is a path of least resistance for others since you can earn a lot of money in minutes just by betting into something. Im sure that many answers here are different from others. Most of the gamblers have tendency to be addicted cause we can compared it to cigarette once a taste of sensation was achieved you cant get out easily especially it involves money. Everything related to it surely can be sort of problem and conflict to one's attitude. I can consider myself lucky that Im not so into it but I admit Ive lost many times than the times I won on gambling. The key here is control, and if that one gone on your system then you can hardly stop the addiction.

In my own point of view, the reason why there are so many people who get addicted in gambling is because it is very easy to earn money with it that you can enjoy and earn at the same time, that is why a lot of people knows how to play gambling games because it is not just entertaining, you can simply earn money with it too.

that is thier missconception   . earning in gambling is risky so its not easy   . i remember the more i want to earn the more i loose and never reach my goal  because i keep on pushing after every wins  .

I think this is all about the emotions that they have been using when gambling that's why they looked like they are so attached to it even though they have failed so many times yet they still continue to do what seems to be toxic for them. People who don't have self-control will be addicted to gambling because he cannot control himself on gambling. When he starts playing gambling, he finds the excitement of gambling, so he continues to play for more rounds until he stops gambling, and back in the other day. He tries again in the next day to try to win the games because he found that playing gambling can give him the fun thing that he's looking for, so he decides to use more money to gamble. There are many reasons why people are getting addicted into it. Here are some of the reasons.

1. Money - this is the main reason why people are going to a casino or online gambling sites because they want to get money in a quick and easy way. Lets be honest, even those who are saying that they are gambling for fun wants money too because if they want to be enjoyed there are many ways to get it :).

2. Peer/Friends - If you have friends who are gambling, they will urge you to gamble and since they are your friends you will try it until such time that you are getting addicted into it. Having friends that are addicted in gambling is dangerous TBH because they can push you to gamble but still it will depend on you if you really like to gamble or not.

3. Curiosity - Many people are just curious about the feelings if you gamble your money in real betting games. This will continue if they are happy doing it until the time comes that they will get addicted into gambling.

I disagree, though you have a point but not exactly correct. When you fins yourself doing the same thing over and over again every single day even with limitations, it could be consider as addiction, mild addiction. Yes, addiction have many phases, you'll start at stage 1 to stage 4 of it when you don't change your mindset about gambling. If you're thinking you're not addicted, then you're already in trouble by thinking that way.

In order to evade the lust that gambling emits to attract us to play, we must give ourselves some time to think about every decisions we are going to execute, especially in gambling.

This is maybe because they really like gambling in which they find their true happiness whenever they are playing nor gambling so that they are very addicted on gambling and maybe just because there are a lot of influencers out there that are currently convincing them to play whenever they want so that they are intent to play it everytime that their friends are asking them. Gambling is simply fun. You earn money while you somehow think of a strategy on what would be your next bet and why. You think you are thinking logically but instead in reality gambling simply gambles your intellect. Yet, it overall made you satisfy each and everytime you hit the right bet and multiplied your money for two or more. And in the end of the day, luck drives us to give it another shot tomorrow. And then the addiction goes on and on until you'll realize that you have nothing left to gamble. That was my experience after I bet aggresively as I've tested not my intellect but only my pure luck in which is the most dumbest thing one must never do.

I am sure the answers to OP questions will vary because not all gamblers have the same desires and goals. Gambling is a game and almost all games will make players addicted and the level of addiction will be different from each other.

If my goal in gambling is to get money, then I will try to achieve it even if I suffer defeat after defeat before I win the bet and I am sure the answer will be different if the goal of betting is for pleasure.

The emotions the gamblers take in gambling is an emotion that is hard to resist. Technically, before the person goes to a gambling platform, their brains will release dopamine that will make them feel excited because of the chances to win. imagine the following:

you wake up and start reading about some strategy to win in today's game. 5 hours are spent reading the game strategy you will have today and when you play, you win money, you make a profit of 3X or more. What will happen next day? you will spend hours studying another strategy to make more money and if you lose you will spend more hours creating another strategy to make more money. and you end up becoming addicted. Addicted people don't realize that they are addicted.

The only way to get entertaine while gambling is when the gambler be able to limit his or her capital during gambling. Many gamblers have no  idea of how to ensure they play safe during gambling on the platforms, limiting your capital while gambling will help a gambler have a control over the Period of his or her stay, this has been proven by me and many of my friends it helps you as a gambler stay off addiction.

The rate at which many gamblers are getting addicted to gambling is much and should be advise to control their urge while gambling because, the effects of gambling addiction can lead to individual destruction and family too. When gambling has been used as a source of income then of course it will give a different effect when betting and I think, they themselves will not be easy to realize if in reality they have a gambling addict because they will only enjoy the game by continuing to bet without any control and about awareness itself.

I believe that the reasons lie deep in childhood.
In children whose parents deprived attention, they did not raise and incorrectly expressed their love, complexes and psychological traumas can develop.

There's a case for that some being addicted to gambling because of did not raise well by love ones. many people are addicted to gambling because in my opinion gambling can get a lot of profit quickly without having to wait for rising coin prices as happened at the exchange place.

I can't speak for all the gamblers out there but I think the reason that they are addicted to gambling is because they are taking their chances of winning back more than what they lost. This mentality is the poison that feeds people to gamble away their money. The promise of a great fortune that will turn around once life is an enticing bait for people to do gambling.

Besides that, they don't have strong control when they play gambling, so that makes them spend more time just because they expect to get a win in the next rounds. But the fact, it is difficult to win the gambling games if we don't have luck while the luck itself will not always come to us. People slowly become addicted to gambling without they realize because they can get excited in the gambling games itself, and that is the way for them to lose their money.

The temptation gambling gives is extensively extreme in a way that if you doesn't know how to handle it nor it's your first time to gamble you'll end up losing unless you belong to small probability of winners in gambling.

Not all people were able to manage themselves perhaps due to problems, they can afford to lose, or they are just bored; we don't know. We can't bear them them to stop what they are doing but we can encourage them to just gamble with moderation.

The only reason I think of why they continue to gamble despite of all circumstances is because of money ::). I don't believe if they tell me that their reasons are like what you've said. Because most people are unable to control themselves in gambling. IMO this is the main reason why many people are addicted to gambling. If people are able to have good self control, they wont be addicted to any addictive things (not only gambling).
Other reason could be "greediness". Feeling of never enough on everything they have, they earn or they get leads people into an addiction as well.

These are the reasons in my own opinion why there are so many people who get addicted to gambling. First is, there is no denying that many people are very greedy and always find a way to earn quickly or taking money from people that result in scamming people of their money. Some are looking for earning quick money without scamming which is through gambling on a casino. Some people only want to satisfy themselves by gambling either for fun, thrill, passing time and more.

That is a difficult question, there are some people that seem to be predisposed to getting addicted, they lack self-control and when they try something like gambling they are unable to stop themselves even when they know they should, then as time goes by and they lose more money they decide to keep gambling because they want to get their money back not realizing they will never be able to do that as the probabilities are against them, that is why whenever I gamble I consider my capital lost from the beginning that way I do not have any desire of chasing my losses.

The addiction isn't always caused by money. For me, some gamblers become addicted because they make gambling be their daily habit and play it excessively. So, when they don't play gambling, they feel something wrong (missing) in their daily activities.

This is not true, a lot of people may win on certain days but only a few survive the long term it's very hard to maintain your winnings and still continue. Your winnings could eventually back to the casino since the numbers are always on their side.

I agree on the control part even if we know that we have to stop or play conservatively sometimes you'll get carried away easily and do one of the worst things possible then realization will set in.

Yes, over-staying like over-gambling must be the root cause for gambling addictions. Unfortunately no gambler is aware of where to draw their limits. They do gamble blindly regardless of their limited budget (by arranging loans) and limited time frame (they do cut off study/work). Simply, going for gambling unlimited is the reason why many people are getting addicted after short period of time itself.

Gambling limited and responsible must be the simple solution to stay in gambling without getting addiction. Taking short break for gambling must be other thing every gambler must work on. People get addicted to things they like doing. Some get addicted to playing computer games, others to gambling. You can't change that.

Gamblers will have difficulty if they want to recover the losses in gambling because they should know that they don't have a big chance to win unless they have luck. A gambler who can recover he lose will be the lucky one while the other gamblers don't have the luck but only get another loss. The gambling owner knows about that, so the owner gives another promotion to their members to attract them back to the gambling places. And that makes the gamblers come again and again, and start to be addicted to gambling.

Actually, almost any entertainment comes with a cost. Whether it be a video game for $50, or cinema outing for $10, or a meal out for $15, ... well, you got the idea. We must spend, or "lose", if you will, some money, if we want to be entertained.

It is already in the nature of every person that's why a certain individual who gets into gambling will get addicted later or sooner once he/she started gambling.

What they are doing is when they lose their initial capital in gambling, they will find another to recover their losses. Most of the gamblers who are doing this still lose their added funds and only few of them are luckily recovering their losses. Now the problem is that if this few gamblers recovered their losses, they will become greedy therefore they will continue to gamble hoping that they can go home with profit. Their only plan is to recover their losses but because they have been eaten by greed, they continued to gamble until they lose again. Lucky if they go home with profit but most of them ending up losing it all.

This is why I don't want to spend money and time with gambling. I don't want to get addicted into it because if I will then it will be hard for me to recover anymore.

 I guess it is fun? I mean I know that it is risky and it is addiction and it is bad, however it is quite fun as well. Thats the thing with almost all addictions, it takes you away from the boring regular life, lets be honest not everybody has absolutely lovely life, the most common life of every human is waking up, going to work, coming back home, do something for few hours and sleep, thats literally all we do. Some people prefer watching netflix, some people prefer reading, some people prefer something else but for just some people they prefer gambling.

I guess it is a psychological thing. I have talked with a friend before about being addicted to fast food and I know fast food and gambling has absolutely no connection at all the addiction thing has something common between ALL addictions. People who have addictions, doesn't matter if it is eating, drugs, gambling or anything, they can't really give up because they have something in their psychology that they are trying to surpass usually.

It means they have some sort of emotional gap in their soul, in their mind or whatever you believe in and they are trying to fill that gap with something. That gap could be anything, a hurt from a lover, a financial dispute, feeling inadequate, basically ANYTHING, when a person feels vulnerable, even while not realizing it, they are more open to addiction.

One reason why I think most of the people got addicted of gambling is because of the thrill while thinking how much they will win at that time that they are gambling. If we are in a state of gambling, we compete to each other especially if we gamble to player vs player and we want to win of course but we didn't think anymore how much we lost because we just tell ourselves that we will do better tomorrow if we will lost today.

I am not a gambling addict but this is what I am experiencing every time I gamble so there is a big chance that others are feeling the same way.

When a gambler always thinks about recovering the lost, that will attract them to try one more chance to play. They don't know if the next round will be their winning, so they keep trying to roll one more time, but the fact is just another loss for them. The desire to win back will be on every gambler who lose their money, but it is our job not to continue and not to try to recover the loss because that will not easy to do. We must know that we need to control that desire not to trick us into losing more money.

Any or everybody had come to that situation where we continue as long as we have money to lose. After it, we blamed ourselves not cut our losses. We can't handle our own emotion towards what is right and that is addicting is all about. It's also the feeling of being in the top of the class and the feeling of winning every time. Being addicted is very difficult to handle and it's takes a lot of time and discipline towards what you really what and its to change.

Yes there are other entertainment out there but of course the fun given to them by gambling is different. We can win some true money in it but with a risk of losing the money also. I think one reason why they stick to it is because they think that it can be their only way to earn or it is only the thing they can do to earn instant big.

I think the main point of these questions is precisely to change this. For each of this addiction, there are different tricks to overcome it, and of course there are general techniques. Yes we couldn't judge them because we don't know what are their reason why they got addicted to it,
We don't know what they have seen or felt on it and why do they still cling to it even if they are losing money or everything on it.
But I guess I understand some of them because I once cling on gambling because I was lonely and gambling makes me feel happy and complete at that time.

That is the reason why I don't play gambling because once that you're became an addict, you cannot stop the addiction unless you really wanted to or when you choose to seek help with the professionals. Addiction is not a joke, if you are an addict you will di whatever you wanted to even if you lose your money a couple of times you will still find a way to earn just for gambling. This is the reason why some addicts are triggered to do bad things such as robbery and holdap just for the sake of their addiction.

That is why before you get into gambling, you should be responsible enough not to get yourself being greedy or betting too much because once you let yourself lose control in gambling you are already in the wrong path that could lead you to extreme addiction. Addiction in gambling is not that hard to avoid, you should always be responsible and only play gambling for entertainment or leisure time.

As you ask "Have you been gambling?", i think it would be better to change the question to "Are you actively gambling?". If there are people who answer yes to the question I am talking about, they will already know why they are addicted or will learn while trying to answer this question. Gambling is actually fun to play but also dangerous. Who knows, perhaps this feature of gambling makes it attractive, and therefore people become addicted.

Self-discipline or self-control is so very must in life because it will not only save from gambling but any such addiction which can be dangerous in long term. And in gambling as it involves money and people run after it and sees it as a shortcut to make quick money easily so their try their luck and continuously trying again and again over a period of time they do not even realize it when they start getting used to it.

Not all gamblers are those who are addicted and do bad behavior to fulfill their desire to gamble. I am a gambler and also a promoter of gambling sites, I am addicted and want to continue gambling but only if I have money. We have different goals in gambling, partly because we want to earn money, we have fun and we also want to have a "curious experience".

In short and simple words there are two reasons why people get addicted to gambling.

1- They have a lot of free time and money and they do not find anything else interesting expect gambling.
2- They want to become rich and gain a lot of money, so they will keep on trying again n again.

but Gambling is a negative addiction, if it damages your mind and activities, the worst behavior a gambling addict often does is steal money or borrow someone else's money when they are no longer able to make money.

It is a too wrong idea to be rich in gambling. Indeed, if someone gambles only for money, he can be easy to be greedy and be addicted because of too high expectations. It is very unfortunate if there are still people to rich in an instant way like gambling. Why don't they just gamble for entertainment and consider earning money only as a bonus? Gambling is an activity that a person can easily enjoy and make as his habit, it is addictive because people find it as their comfort place. I think these are the reasons why people are getting addicted into gambling.

1. Desire to win - because they are being fired up by their desire to win, they will do everything just to win. They will spend most of their time gambling, money in order to win etc. The more time you spend in gambling, the higher chance that you get addicted into it.

2. Lack of Self control - well this is self explanatory. Lack of self control = more time in gambling and more time in gambling = possible addiction.

3. Peer Pressure - because most of your friends are always gambling, they will invite you to play with them and since you are somewhat curious about gambling you joined. That would be the start of your gambling journey and possible addiction. Because of your friends, the chance of gambling is high already.

The simple fact is we like a challenge. We're always trying to prove to ourselves, and to other people that we can do what other people to do.

Because of their greed they let their greed control them that is why they are being addicted to it.
They couldn't control it as you can see most of them couldn't control their own emotion.
The hope of winning back what they lose or earning more of what they already have is the reason why they are losing more.

The first reason is the lack of discipline, if you are gambling that way, expect it will jut ruin your life in the long run.

To answer your question, I think you have to ask why are there so many people gambling. Technically when we have many people doing a particular thing it simply means the rate at which a particular percentage of the users abusing that particular thing will be high. If we only have few gamblers then the addict won't be that high that's why the government are trying their possible best in regulating that section of the economy to reduce the addicts.

The first thing you owned by greed by playing any game in gambling whether it's your first time or not, You will this kind of feeling that you won't stop until you win big. this will make a lot of sense if it's your first time because of what you see beside you. people are winning but little you know it's their thousand tries before they won and it took them a huge number of losses before winning oddly. The fastest yet too risky. Despite of the risk, some of us are still trying to earn in gambling because if you're lucky you can really get rich quick. But the chances are slim we know you can lose more than winning. There's nothing wrong if you gamble as long as you know your limitation and can handle yourself to avoid getting addicted.

 I doubt its about fast money for everyone, there has to be some people who gamble for fun and gets addicted because thats the only thing they like doing for fun. It might be harmful or not depending on how addicted you are or how much you can stop yourself when you need to, but at the same time even if its harmless and you can gamble within your means it could be addiction if you keep doing it constantly.

 I believe anything you do constantly could be addiction if you can't stop it. Watching TV could be addiction, even reading a book could be addiction, we all know coffee and soft drinks and so forth could be addiction as well. Why are they not seen as bad as gambling addiction? Because you can waste 5 hours per day for 1 year only watching TV and rarely you will lose money to it, whereas gambling could cripple your economy.

It has to be something with being bored I am sure. There are so many people who have nothing else to attach to and that results with them being addicted to gambling because they are basically feeling like they are doing something finally and actually spending their time with quality but in reality they are hurting themselves. There was basically nothing in the world that would help them to spend time better and they got addicted to it.

Just to give an example I know someone who gambled for 30 years because he just had a very good business who didn't need him, he was the boss but there was managers and so forth and he didn't had to go to work, he had a office at the top of the building so all he did was gamble for 30 years. 4-5 years ago he started this collective of group or whatever its called and hasn't gambled since that moment.

People do possess their own reasons why they choose to get addicted into playing gambling. Maybe there is a tingling sensation inside of them whenever they tend to play gambling which makes them wanting more. Well, 30 years of gambling is really a long time. Obviously that person has strong character if he didn't develope addiction.
The question why people become gambling addicts is similar why they become drug or alcohol addicts, there is no simple and unique explanation, each person is functioning on different ways.
However,  when gambling adrenalin and hunger for money that people can't control very often lead to  addiction and many players are not even aware of thst.

Awareness does not mean people can easily control themselves or do the right thing.

As we all know, rich people are too obsessed with money. In every step they make, there's always money down the line. They usually didn't let a second slip without involving money. So, I find rich gamblers not an addict, instead gambling is their way of leisure, money doesn't matter to them while gambling, because they can always reproduce what they have lost.

Yes, that's very true. All of them started from newbie before they become gambling addicts. Those who found gambling as source of happiness, escaping from reality, source of income, and whatever it can satisfy their personal desires will stay in gambling and later on be converted to gambling addicts. Each one has their own story and they have their own reasons why they stayed and it is only them that can get out from the situation if they truly want to.

The fact that each game will make players addicted even though the initial purpose is to have fun or whatever the reason and for sure this addiction will vary between temporary addiction (until there is a reason to stop) or severe addiction that causes greater effect. Excitement, excitement, excitement... when you give it a thought it's the same what get you addicted on everything else! Drugs, fast cars (speed), alcohol, sex, or any other fetish you can think of! In one point the excitement you get from whatever you are doing can't be achieved with anything else except that! It's the point where you get hooked, where nothing else exist except that and the feeling of excitement you can get from that, and you are ready to risk your life for that, not just money!

Gambling is also banned in India by the gov. But only banning does not seems to be enough to restrict people from gambling. people still some how manages to gamble. Greed is the main cause why the people use to gamble.

People get addicted to gambling if they're entertained too much and have a motivation to win a big prize even though they're already losing. It's like playing computer games, if you get excited and entertained too much in that game, you'll definitely get addicted to it.

That's why it's considered already as a mental issue since it's hard to recover from that addiction 'cause you'll already hooked up on gambling and want to play the whole day.

Some of the gamblers are continuing to gamble after their first loss on gambling because they want to get their money back.

Desire to win money in a quick way is the reason that I see why most of the people are addicted to gambling.

We all want money right. What more if we can get it in a quick. We don't need to work 8 hours a day just to get a minimum wage. Yes gambling can change your life but it can make it miserable too. People tend to get addicted into gambling because they can't help themselves whenever they are losing. If they are winning, chances are they will gamble more and more and as they spend more time in gambling the higher chances for them to get addicted into it. These people don't have the discipline to stop whenever they are losing or winning. There is no bad thing when you are gambling but you must gamble with moderation and spend a small amount only if you can't take your losses.

The problem is that that no one knows why they are addicted to gambling. People don't even realize that they have become gambling addicted.

For me, if anyone plays excessive gambling he is likely to get addicted or is already addicted to gambling.

I agree, no more discussion but it is because of being greedy and the desire to make money in gambling. If it is all about being entertained, I don't think that they will last longer without having the said reason.
Even if they will be treated or someone helped them, it is not enough. Getting out from addiction will always be a choice, a person will not get rid of his addiction if he won't choose it in the first place.

I guess maybe some of your friends got lucky and won themselves some money when they starts gambling for fun, and since the money won from gambling comes much faster and easier as compared to work, some people might start to gamble more often until they got themselves addicted to gambling without realizing it themselves.
