The quick answer is NO. There is already a new forum software under development, which comes to the final stage soon but it won't look like facebook at all.
Here is section you can check.  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0)
BTW You can test it here > https://coinbistro.com

(I'm going to assume you're asking for the ability to create profile posts (alongside the ability for others to comment on them and / or "like" them) + being able to "follow" users + a sort of personal activity page that lists out what members you follow did recently (their regular posts, topics, profile posts, merit, etc.) to be implemented)

The chance of theymos (the head admin of Bitcointalk) implementing these features into the current software package this forum runs on is effectively zero. There is, however, a new forum software (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0) project in development, with plans to replace Bitcointalk's current highly modified version of SMF 1.x with it once it's reached a stable version. Feel free to visit the "New forum software" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0) board and suggest those features there. Even then, the functionality in question doesn't really mesh well with the old school forum vision of Bitcointalk. But hey, you're free to try.

P.S. If you're asking for this forum to be turned into a Facebook-like social network, uhh... no. This is a discussion forum, not a traditional social network. If you're looking for that experience, there's Facebook itself as well as hundreds of both blockchain-focused and regular traditional social networks on the market. I'd suggest you check them out if that's the experience you're looking for.

Sounds like you might be interested in steem/steemit.

https://steemit.com/

It's a bit of a scam to be fair but it's closer to what you seem to be looking for.

Bitcointalk.org is a discussion forum so a different thing entirely.

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe the idea was there but needs a lot of time and knowledge. Cause maybe more attractive when using quality visualizer when advertising.

Thanks for the informative response. How I wish I could and I have enough knowledge but sadly not. Even I am asking these vague question that don't know can get specific reply and get the idea what was meant for. But all of these can be foundation of new development.

Yeah I know it is a forum but what I meant is forum but different environment which member can't only click on each topic but can interact with features.

It is too hard to navigate the forum UI on mobile I guess that user is way too talented he can do that kind of task, click the post button at the same time rolling the toilet paper. :D

I think it's better we should stick with the classy UI not that to be driven by the fad features of the social medias.

I’d rather eat shit than see this place become like FB. Nothing else to say on the matter from me.

To think that I quit facebook for a long while now and this forum has made me not to think of logging in there again and someone wants us to go back to that is ridiculous, the forum may for some need some upgrading(because for users like myself, I'm fine with how things are now)and that's already in progress as the forums new software should be ready very soon, but it's going to be nothing like facebook.

There are anecdotal reports that many many BitCoins have been invested in a NEW! IMPROVED! version of the forum, but the demo I saw just had a white background and not much more going for it.

The SMF program needs upgrading due to security issues but other than that not much has been suggested to port the forum elsewhere.

I think theymos is fixing any security holes he can find (or if anyone reports any) and the new forum hasn't been tested as extensively (only a handful of tiny Internet discussion forums transitioned into using it) so it might not be as secure.

I strongly believe that having such a thing quickly turns into a big mess. Imagine following a lot of members and as a result, you'll have to keep on scrolling until reaching an interesting post.

Cause maybe more attractive when using quality visualizer when advertising.
If you meant promoting this forum then AFAIK, theymos isn't advertising/promoting this forum in any other places [unless I'm missing something]...

Yeah I know it is a forum but what I meant is forum but different environment which member can't only click on each topic but can interact with features.
In addition to the forum itself, there are a lot of other "community-made userscripts/ add-ons (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5148488.0)" on this forum.
- You can also post your suggestion there and hope for someone to recreate your vision.

Facebook-like, Twitter-like, Instagram-like forum, abundant available emoticons, please NO. The forum community don't need them.

If you are unfamiliar with the forum, I understand what you feel about it (as I did in the past). After using it a few months, you will recognize that a text-based forum is better than all those above things. You can more easily focus on discussions and flow of ideas, through texts.

If you are curious, you can discover the fact by yourself: Search with animated avatar disabled. It happened back in 2018, when some casinos run their signature campaigns with both animated avatars and signatures, then the community complained. At the end, theymos stepped in and disabled all new animated avatars and signatures. For users who already worn them, they are grand-farther and still be able to display them. But if they took those stuffs off, they will no longer be able to display animated avatars and signatures.

Means this forum will become social media if there are features like that lol. I prefer it like this and the forum will not be the same as Facebook. I'm sure many people will not agree with this. ;D

Damn that's old-school.

OP, if you want Facebook, use Facebook.  Bitcointalk is just fine as it is IMO, and the simpler the layout and the more consistent it is, the better.  I can't stand when websites keep changing how they look and operate, nor am I a fan of FB.  There are already more than enough social media sites out there that bitcointalk doesn't need to gravitate toward being another one.

Lots of members have said this site looks outdated, but it serves its purpose very nicely.  It's not cluttered or bloated, and I'm hoping that when this new software rolls out in 2419 that the forum will still be easy to use.  Hopefully by that time they'll have uploaded my consciousness into the brain cloud and I can still post with a thought-to-text app.  Those are in the works, no?
