will you continue with bitcoin talk forum if all Merits is been withdrawn and all accounts are tagged with the same identityMembers. What will become of bitcointalk forum.
i am beginning to suspect that most reasons why people are here is to earn merits and compete in bounty campaigns.

Personally, this does not bother me at all. I came here to communicate with people who share the same interests as me, namely, cryptocurrencies. Regardless of the merit system, I will continue to use the forum and discuss the news and other aspects of the crypto community.

That suggestion has no merit.

If merits were removed and everybody became a member, it would probably become an even bigger cesspool than it was at the times right before the merit system was introduced.
Literally thousands of active spammers would flood the forum blurting out absolute nonsense because they could earn from a yobit-like sigcampaign or from one of those token giveaway "earning" campaigns.

Merits were introduced to fight the spam, and they had at least some impact... Ranks are great because people will have a basic indication as to who has been here for a while, earned some merit, has something usefull to say, and (on the other hand), who is a relatively new member

I don't find any reasons for merit system to be removed from bitcointalk.

If it happens and everyone become same member status I will still continue to post and will try to contribute as I can.

Everyone would stop care about the posts and start posting shit :)

Many people come here to make money by putting minimal efforts, they don't care about merits.

Merit system is not going to be removed as there is a reason it was created.
It is not about participating in bounty campaigns but it is a way to understand who is prone to spam and shares crap information. Jr. Members and Newbies are less reliable in the information they share in the forum.

I think anarchy will begin. It will not be clear where people really want to help with advice, and where it’s just spam. I think this system is not perfect, but it is necessary at the moment.

I’m guessing a lot of people who put in a lot of work into gaining merits to try and elevate their status or get multiple accounts into the DT network would likely throw fits. I don’t see this happening though, as I’m sure a lot of work went into creating the merit system that wouldn’t want to be abandoned over what many would say is conspiracy theory.

If merit system will removed a lot of things may happen. In my opinion
1. Decrease knowledge of forum members. Because there will be decrease of good poster due to decrease the value of there post. People are stuck in a board which is interesting for them.
2. Increase Spam post. Due to decrease of the value of Bitcoin ID, No one will care about the quality of his/her post.
3. If anyone is ask for help, no one will help eagerly.
4. The worst thing may happen that, a lot of people may don't hear the name theymos, vod, LoyceV, OgNasty etc.

Why care for merit when we are here to learn and help others,though we are participating in some bounties meaning we need to live a life on that because there is a life outside this forum and that is real world.

Let make this Crypto investing as a secondary source but we need to make a living also outside.

Nothing good will come of it. Everything needs some rules. If you do not follow these rules, then everyone will do what he wants. And in the end the forum will not be serious.

Then how would they differentiate the members how would the bounty and other campaign works?
Wouldn't it be unfair for the old members or those who truly contributes in the forum?
I know that most doesn't like the merit system because it is hard for others to gain it but it is there for a reason and to stop the forum from getting abused.

If the merit system is removed then the spammers and breeders will be rampant again. immediately we will see many alternative accounts back to being in the bounty. the merit system is very good, so it doesn't need to be changed anymore.

I think then it will be more difficult to understand on the main forum who is a professional (or veteran) and who is just a beginner.

If this implemented then likely no signature space anymore so spammers have no reasons to stay only people who engage in the crypto development will stay here.

I still remember the good old times before the merit system. When you just tanked up by being active on the forum. The merit system brought good and bad things into the forum. I don't think having everybody with the same rank is the way to go. There should be a way to show people who have been around for many years and some who just signed up 3 months ago.
