Title: Security measure to working from home people
Post by: flopnite on March 19, 2020, 11:25:30 AM
What the hell are you doing here if you are at work from home? :D
Well, just received this guide from newsletter so why not share here.

Work from home tips (https://www.purevpn.com/blog/working-from-home-be-wary-of-these-cybersecurity-risks/)

My tip:
Don't fuck around on twitter while working because you might get infected physically but 100% mentally. The feed is flooded with a load of crap on cures and false news.

Pre recorded video for the video conferencing. :D

This video is getting viral on social media after most companies allowed their employees to work from home.

As a work from home employee (since this week), I give the following advice (things I mostly do at the office as well):

- take your job seriously. You asked for security measures and this is very important one: it is about the security of your incomes. Do what you used to do from your office and don't think the employer can't verify you. Maybe he can. And most likely, you can't afford to lose your job.

- take the breaks at same times you used to. This is a security measure for your mental state. Your brain is used with breaks at certain hours - just follow them. Not more, not less.

- try to be the best from your team. This is also regarding the security of your job. Hard times are coming; maybe the employer will fire those with bad results which are working from home.

- be clean. Take showers as you used to; brush your teeth; wash your hands. This is a security measure for your health. If you stay at home, it doesn't mean you should live in dirt. Also, don't keep while sleeping the clothes you wore yesterday. And don't start your working shift in pyjamas! :)

- do exercises. This is also a security measure for your health. Do sit-ups, pushups, work your arms with whatever weights you find around. If you stay at home you can get fat. And this risks your health. A lot!

- regarding your PC / laptoo, follow the security guidelines given by your employer. I'm sure most of the employers drew specific rules for working at home.

- combine work with pleasure - also for mental health; it can lead to better productivity. For example, watch a movie while you work (of course, paying more attention to your work)

- wake up at same hours as you used to while you were going to the office (and go to sleep as same hours). If you start at 9 and you used to wake up at 6, keep doing it! You have more time to drink your coffee, to do your morning routines, maybe to do exercises. Then take a shower - longer than before. It will keep your mind clear and it will help you feel fresh. Don't wake up at 8.50 and sit at your PC at 9 - you won't even know your name.

I used to be a remote worker for sometime.
The biggest fault I was doing and I was getting distracted is to open my social feeds while working. This was very serious both in terms of my productivity but also in terms of security. Just sit on your desk and be fully focused on your work - leave away all distractions.

I pay close attention to my work to avoid being physically infected at work Don't attend the other social media. After completing the work I joined them Because working too repeatedly can cause the loss of attention by watching fake news you ought to specialise in not locking the system.

Open YouTube and listen to classical music and hits of 80s - 90s.

You'll be saved from being bored and you'll feel nostalgic as you work.

Can't agree more, YouTube is the bread and butter of home entertainment. With my current mundane job, I'll go insane without any form of stimulant.

Every kind of genre if you want some relaxing music.

Just open the website and search it. You can even search for your childhood games. That's what I do when I don't listen to music.

If we are talking about music, I can recommend the chilledcow channel on youtube. There, calm music is broadcast round the clock, to which I work great.

Unlike many others, my WFH is way worse because I have to clock in a mandatory 7 hours minimum on the job. That excludes breakfast, lunch, and roaming aimlessly around the house :c

Yup, I was reminded once for not achieving the quota. The screenshot of my performance was sent and I was left stunned for a while.

At least at work I could go back on time but for this, my account is monitored (by my higher up(s)) so I could even spend 24 hours at home but if no work is done, my total online time will show 0 hours.

Lucky you, definitely living the life there :D

Yes this is often really great within the workplace but additionally to those repeatedly working during a humble environment can make the work faster. I usually wish to add a quiet environment don't enter a site during work hours.

Not everyone has a style of working in the workplace. Everyone likes to work in different ways You are different from me But I think most people enjoy listening to music and working.

Thankfully my company encourages this.

If you work in some old school corporate, listening to music is heavily frowned upon unless you're at some senior level.

Last time, an ex-colleague of mine received a warning via the HR system for doing so while working.
