Title: The Italian Red Cross is now seeking Bitcoin donations
Post by: plvbob0070 on March 22, 2020, 05:28:38 PM
Italy has been facing a big crisis after coronavirus spread rapidly and infecting thousands of people in Italy that also causes thousand of death in the country. As various news states that Italy had surpassed China with the number of deaths caused by the pandemic. Now, the country is facing lockdown to prevent the virus from spreading even more.

Italy is also struggling with treating patients because of the lack of manpower and equipment. I've read in an article that Italian doctors have to choose whom to treat first because they cannot treat every patient at the same time. Aside from manpower, they are also lacking in medical equipment. The Italian Red Cross is seeking donations and even accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for medical equipment.

Italian Red Cross launched its fundraising campaign last March 12. Donations flooded them and within three days it surpassed their target of $10,710. They used the donation to purchase materials needed to deploy the pre-triage facility. Even if it already surpassed its target, Italy's Red Cross continue its fundraising and set another goal of almost $26,000.

The crypto community also showed their initiative to support them in fighting the virus. They had pledged their contributions to the Italian Red Cross. With the donation, they will use it to purchase the core infrastructure and medical equipment. If the value of bitcoin increases, they will use the surplus to buy additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their medical staff.

We keep seeing good news and how people are helping each other in fighting the virus. There will always be good people who are willing to help but we still have to be careful in times like this because not everyone is willing to help. We still need to be cautious about scammers online because scammers won't disappear. If you're aware, there are scammers who are impersonating WHO to steal donation funds. I have created a thread about this issue, see the link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5234384.0) if you want to know about it.

It is heart breaking to see how Italians mourn caused by this pandemic, their suffering is way lot more of what we have here in my country. We just have here a 300+ cases of the coronavirus, not even a single percent from the total number of their cases, almost 60,000 with deaths of nearly 6000 people. Where is the European Union? It supposed to be their back end on this pandemic but it seems inactive unlike the treatys of other countries.

Italy now is the new epicenter of the pandemic. In addition to that bad news is Croatia has been hit by an earthquake with various country in Europe. Let's pray for this season and let the world achieve peace  again :(

I've checked it and it seems legit enough for me,just be careful on clicking links. I really wanted to help in any way possible but I just can't for some reason.

But let's ask the question the media don't want to ask. Why it is that Italians are suffering so much and other EU countries are not.
Are they more vulnerable for some reason? No. It's because of the policies. They did not want to shut down restaurants and cinemas and did not want to close their borders until it was too late. They also have a lot of elderly people who are more vulnerable.

Today Russia has sent several doctors and other tools to combat coronavirus to Italy, unfortunately Europe has only been watching to date. Sometimes I wonder what Europe is for. Thank you Russia and thank you China and Cuba for your help.

Sorry. I didn't know that there's already a topic like this. I tried checking it before posting but I didn't notice. I'll just lock this thread. Btw, @Jating thanks for telling me as well as everyone's opinion about this news.
