Title: How does creating topics improve you a lot?
Post by: finaleshot2016 on March 23, 2020, 06:14:41 AM
Good day! As I have no idea how to start a new subject, I finally made this thread about the advantages of producing quality topics. After the introduction of the merit system, it urges me to build topics to gain merits and at the same time to learn. And this thread will give you an idea of how certain people in a single post receive a lot of merits. The key benefits of creating topics are merit that shows the quality of your posting and can also improve your credibility. Making this a passion motivates me to create and improve a lot which helps me to learn and learn more.

Here are the threads I created on my local section:

I'm just a full member when merit system came, and I reach Sr. Member and Hero member last year through these efforts, and hoping to be a Legendary Member this year 2020.

The benefits of creating quality topics is very simple;
1. You'll gain more knowledge.
2. You can apply it in different applications.
3. You will get a strong reputation and credentials because you are making an effort to make a quality threads.

So my advice to all aspiring posters of quality soon, always think about your posts, it's better not to rely on the thread of others. Sometimes it's easier to discuss about something you've learned well because you're going to build a successful conversation that serves a forum function. So always share all of your learning that might support other beginners who have begun their journey here at the forum recently. So the point is very obvious, nothing special on this thread. Always keep safe from COVID-19, Have a good day everyone!  :D

I am happy for you, I really wish you good luck as you will upgrade to legendary very soon, keep helping people here on this forum and also keep advising upcoming members like me.

You are very right. I created few ones too and I noticed creating topics is better than posting. This thread will be helpful for beginners much.
So many newbies are getting it wrong but only posting and not making threads. This is wrong. I will advise them.to look for quality threads like yours and the English ones before making threads, because they will learn, and getting merits will become easy for them.

one could argue that you should already have the knowledge before starting the topic and share that knowledge not to want to gain it after the fact. specially if it is a guide topic. i sometimes see such attempts that ends up being more misleading than being helpful.

Other users that reply to your thread and shares information will let you learn the things you missed on that topic. So I indicated that we'll gain more since learning is non-stop.

This is right. Ive seen also some created topics that instead of presenting the idea, the topic went far, and become irrelevant. Knowledge is important prior to clicking Post but this change depends on the topic subject. And also I am agree with this line said by finaleshot2016;

Other users that reply to your thread and shares information will let you learn the things you missed on that topic.

sometime we missed something and others filled in the gap on our topic. This always happened and thats normal cause not everyone has 99% knowledge on the subject. There's always 1% that we dont know.

I always look up to the post you have created in our local section and I am using it as a guide to create my own subjects that will be posted in our local in the next few days.

Thankfully, your long list of created thread will help me find and review your post easily whenever I needed it.

As I see it, you are making this forum as your personal diary whenever you have learned something and then sharing it to the community which can strengthen and to test if you really understand what you are trying to convey to the people.

Alternatively, since most of the people here sees bitcointalk as an academe of learning cryptocurrency, posting what you have learned serves as a test to know if you are learning the correct information with the help of other forum members. :D

To compose a guide, user have to spend more time than simply reply to a post. My statement excludes shit guides that only are created for merit hunting, without any new knowledge or contributions.

To make a good guide, you have to have knowledge at fundamental level, at least; then using more to search for available topics on the same issue on the forum. After all, spending more time to compose a good guide, both in contents, and grammar. They all contributed to grow composers up.

This is the most important things happen to me. Maybe i was far away from HQ poster in this forum. But, when I trying to create a topic, I also learn something that i don't know before or just hear a little bit information about topic idea. Because I want to share with other member, so i must doing a research. There are the reason when we are trying to share anything with member, we will gain more knowledge as you say. Same as you, I'm starting to contribute in my local board where language not a problem to communicate each other.

Usually this kind of thread is called a discussion thread and all people involved will complement each other so that the discussion goes one direction and with the same goal. Because none of us is perfect, it is very possible that we still need others to correct our shortcomings.

A well moderated discussion thread usually gets a lot of new lessons and opens broader insights to the OP as well as other users and the people involved are usually quality posters so we can all gain more knowledge.

Frankly speaking, most guides are regurgitated. For instance, how to post properly, how to trade Bitcoin, how to spot fake giveaways, how to rank up, how to impress Satoshi, how to report scammers, how to flatter theymos.

We need some innovative ones, but then the forum stats have also been overused :D

I have been caught up in situations like these, were I see something online and eventually put it out as a post on this forum only for other users to debunk it. It's a harsh learning process but it allows you to know which knowledge to accept and which not to and it teaches you that not everything you see online is completely accurate.
I consider this better than holding onto the wrong notions about a particular topic.
One shouldn't make guides on topics they do not know much about though, but the fear of mistakes shouldn't hold one back from learning. I make it a habit to indicate that I am open for discussions so more experienced members can either approve or correct the ideas I put out.

It is your responsibility to know and research about the topic but at the same time, you should accept that there is something you still don't know about it. It's an opening to engage in a healthy discussion. There will always be someone who has a different opinion or understanding about a certain topic and it's better to engage in a discussion to clear and inform who's right about it. It will help others to understand and be more knowledgeable.

3. You will get a strong reputation and credentials because you are making an effort to make a quality threads.

This will only happen if you actually create useful threads, otherwise you might get the opposite of what you want - people will see you as merit hunter, topics might be deleted for being low value, users might put you on their ignore lists if you post too many useless topics and so on.

There's one important rule before creating new topics - use the search function first and see if anyone made a similar topics in the past. This can save people's time from having the same discussions over and over again, and you yourself can read old discussions to learn from them.

It is not right. The forum is built for discussions, so please not self-restrict yourself from interesting discusions.
As you can see in other sections, people are just dumping many non-sense posts on many threads. They still don't know what's the feeling of having a thread and it's very satisfying to discuss something that you knew very well. There's no restriction on good discussions, It just shows that having threads have more benefits than the typical reply posts.

It does not matter if you can make a better thread and OP of the best thread (on same problem) is inactively on the forum for too long and is not able to update that thread. Fundamentally, the content you write is a matter.

Replies in Mega spam threads are useless because no one read such replies no matter how you those posts are. For Mega spam threads, simply ignore and don't reply. For the others, I feel well to reply to help OP in a very few pages of each thread.

Threads composed by good OPs are much more contentful and helpful, I agree but don't self-restrict how we contribute to the community like that.

...
Please don't quote the whole OP like that. Instead, please use @OP or simply reply if your target reader is OP.

Creating a good topics is very important as this forum is a merit system, creating a good and quality posts are really important because for us to have a strong reputation in this forum we should have too many merits and by creating a quality posts, they may appreciate it and they can gives us merits. So always remember that we should contribute well on this forum.

You have to read and understand some information from different websites because having a good and bulk of knowledge on your mind will lead you to think a good topic to post, you may also use it for you better future.

But when someone decides to create topic only for gaining merits it sucks. Many newbies trying this trick in recent days but without prior knowledge, they are not going to make merits even if they create constructive topics without contexts.

Sometimes we have to cut them some slack, since they're attracted to the merits (pun intended) of having them when being introduced to some "new" concept. Of course there's a fine line between genuine mistake and being persistent.

Back then we were like that too :D

Fortunately, readers can easily detect which ones are good posts/ topics, and which ones are not.

You will never find a constructive post or topic without context (or off-topic). Without contents, context, a post / topic is never a constructive one.

Honestly does it really matter if you create a topic or a post? There are two kind of posters on this forum. You are either inacting with people, help others and try to contribute something meaningful or informative to this forum or you are a shitposter which will do everything to rank up the account.

This means in the end it doesn't matter if you create topics or simply answer to existing topics. You either take the good path, learn and your posts will get better over time or you will stay a newbie for ever, that is creating one bullshit post after another.

That's a great idea to motivate beginners in making quality posts and to start their threads. But before you can start your quality thread, you need to sufficient knowledge about a certain topic that you can share with everyone so learning is important. Since we are staying at our houses, we can use this time to be productive and study important things we need to learn about cryptocurrency.

After I started creating my threads, I have also learned a lot of things from other users responding to my thread. It's not only them who are learning when you make your thread, but you can also learn from their opinions and knowledge. If you want to improve, you just have to exert effort.

Btw, OP is one of the active users in our local board and I can see that he's dedicated to providing informative topics on the local board.

Thankyou . Keep guiding.

Yup, and they won't improve if their sole purpose of creating one is to achieve merits. It takes time when creating a topic, specially the well researched one. And I think everyone knows how to differentiate a good topic against a topic made from out of the blue.

Merits will come as long as you work hard in creating an engaging, well researched, well written, and informative topic/post. OP talks about how we improved in creating "quality topics", and he has written good ones. I hope this thread will help others to realize that they should always write a good quality post, because if they are looking to acquire merits, they should work hard for it. And for them to deserve a merit, they should be knowledgeable and helpful to the forum.

The benefits of creating quality topics is very simple;
1. You'll gain more knowledge.

one could argue that you should already have the knowledge before starting the topic and share that knowledge not to want to gain it after the fact. specially if it is a guide topic. i sometimes see such attempts that ends up being more misleading than being helpful.
There is this thing called "interaction" between users. Not because an individual created a topic, he would be the one to share knowledge. It is more of 'trading' knowledge because other people who would visit the topic you have started, could add or even correct the errors on your topic. They may oppose or agree with what you are talking about and in such way, gaining knowledge is happening. I have started a topic recently and it started purely due to the curiosity since I saw two sides.

Feel free to have a visit and freely discuss your side. What confuses me is if the virus has a direct relationship with the crash recently. I have decided to go with the side that such relationship exist although I still doubt that there could be other factors behind the crash. I used this as an example because in such way, I have learned about the things that confuses me, which were answered by other users.

But when someone decides to create topic only for gaining merits it sucks. Many newbies trying this trick in recent days but without prior knowledge, they are not going to make merits even if they create constructive topics without contexts.
Most of the members started there until they feel the satisfaction of helping others through amazing content. I think they just lack the skill on how to attract some viewers in their content or maybe there are few missing elements on a thread. We should understand them since not all are good at it but still trying to do their best at content-making.

I honestly admit that I'm not good at first and realize that making it a little spoonfeeding makes the viewer of your content interested in reading it. I hope they realize it sooner, content must have a spice that will make viewers definitely read it until the end.

Making threads is a very challenging task so writers have to do so many things at the same time: searching for available contents (on the forum and beyond it), doing meta analyses to get what have been done and what have not yet presented/ guided, considering what writers can improve from all current available documents on the forum, starting to compose own threads; proofreading, then publishing. All of those complicated stuffs make writers become better users.

When ones fall in love with what they do, they will never stop. I agree with you.

All things are difficult at beginnings.  ;)

I am happy that you are now successful because of your hardworks. I believe that you will achieve the Legendary membership this year!
This thread is realy inspiring. It's a thing that could lift up someone's motivation for posting quality posts. Creating own topic will definitely give us such good conversation with each other, and we can more easily get lessons from it and also give some ideas to others.

This is why teaching is such an effective tool. It is not just spreading information or what you call "basic teaching" it also serves as memory enhancement and making the knowledge more solid in your brain as a teacher. That's what I like about when I was still tutoring back then. It's an honor to be part of your journey in your topics as well. Keep up the great work!

Basically the knowledge that we have if shared with others called teaching will increase the brain is ability to record that knowledge. The more often that knowledge is shared, the more likely our brain will remember it and our ability to teach will also increase.

The knowledge we have will be useful for others if we want to share or teach it so that knowledge can be beneficial to ourselves, other people can also benefit. I see many users are very enthusiastic in helping other users in various ways such as tutorials, suggestions, answers that are easy to understand and so on. And to date I have never doubted that a forum will lack users who can contribute and be useful to other users and I am glad they are called forum gems.

Thanks bud, I hope that other aspiring posters will also share their information through threads. Don't restrict yourself to responding to other posts, build your own subject to be addressed by other members as well, and it will certainly give you a good discussion and new learnings. We also deserve to be ranked as long as we make an effort to have consistency and a positive mindset that will lead us to our goals. That's why I like this algorithm because the ranking method is based on your actions.

It depends upon the objectives of the poster. There are posters want only to receive merits so even they really don't know the content as long as they think that they are the first one to make it, they will do it. For me, having a merit system makes a quality post. And it really help this community to provide more info and make everyone of us a resource of knowledge and facts.

you will also learn how to accept criticism from others and it will improve your approach, sometimes we don't like it , but since we are in the forum it will be tested, i have learn that its okay to accept comments regarding your topic, it does improve how to create a new once since you know their response from the old one, so it make you think more and improve everything.

Having only that mindset of posting to gain merits is too wrong. We shouldn't forget in a hurry that this forum is created for people to gain knowledge about crypto globally. Albeit quality post about crypto is what we need, as we're here to learn and share knowledge to one another.

Creating quality thread will help beginners and it's also good if the poster can maintain the thread well like being able to answer questions or any opposition about the post.

So what's the product of my efforts on creating threads?

I'm just a full member when merit system came, and I reach Sr. Member and Hero member last year through these efforts, and hoping to be a Legendary Member this year 2020.

The benefits of creating quality topics is very simple;

Always keep safe from COVID-19, Have a good day everyone!  :D
I have been stalking your posts even you were on Senior Member and I really amazed on how you created topics which are new and helpful to our community specially in Philippines (our local board).

And now, I was surprised that you are already a Hero member. A few step forward then legendary rank will open a gate for you. Advance Congratulations!

I have also made my own posts even before, here are some of it:
Taxation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3280237.msg34199706#msg34199706)
constructive posting (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3234426.msg33674925#msg33674925)
 AOTS (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5155153.msg51496685#msg51496685)
MA (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5243592.msg54301008#msg54301008)

But only few amazed it. Haha. However, I am always positive to have good post which will be commented by moderators and merited by lots of people.

Looking forward, I am really inspired of what you have done.
Long live, Filipinos!

Good to see that you have created many useful threads. But we are missing out on many useful threads like these. Due to this reason, I had started a thread to list all the important threads which we are missing out - Missing Out The Important Topics!! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5179785.msg52298513#msg52298513). I will update your threads on that list.

Continue the good work and contribute to the forum by creating good threads. This will be an inspiration to many users. Thank you!

First of all, thank you for bumping this thread of mine, and I hope this thread will benefit you a lot. As we know, this could encourage and empower many people to do better in developing ideas.

It's right that we should always be positive and keep looking forward so that we can grow and achieve the goals we're aiming for. Being optimistic is one of the main reasons why I am still constructing topics, even though some of them are not noticed and have not earned a single appreciation.

Those aren't going to be a hindrance to your journey so just carry on doing a good job and making it as your passion. Thank you!
