Title: Bump rule reminding
Post by: Little Mouse on March 23, 2020, 07:31:37 AM
Although this is a very common rule of the forum, some users do not follow this rule. May be they know about it, may be they do not know about this rule. I have seen Hero member to do this also. I remember I had sent him PM and then he is following the rule.
So, we should know that Bumps are limited to 24 hours and we must follow the rule.
13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.[2]

This is a reminding about the rule for people not following the rule. Please follow the rule of the forum.

And with that rule, this rule is also connected to it.

21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]

This is a helpful reminder but we can't make a post in Meta whenever someone breaks the forum rules.
Reporting to moderator is the most consistent way to ensure the rules are being followed religiously. Majority of users do not open the unofficial rules or if they do they fail to read between the lines and miss some of the vital rules
In no time this particular post would be buried under new ones and we would still be facing the issue.

If a huge number of community members report posts that break the rules it would go a long way in clearing such posts.

The chance those rule-breakers read this thread is very small. IMO better way would be to post on their thread, report their post, and if they don't care about that, ask the mod to delete their thread.

In my opinion, it's not a good idea to post in their ANN thread even for warning them.
If any of users who have earned merit in that last year post in the ANN thread, the bump score of the thread will increase and this is exactly what they want.

...ask the mod to delete their thread.

Mods will not delete threads, they will only delete old bumps, and I see that many times. What is strange is that after deleting old posts, there is generally no change in behavior. It is possible that some users have no idea about these rules at all.

Good warning, although bumping doesn't just happen in boards where is allowed to bump thread, but also in some other boards where this option is not available. I remember alerting a few users about this, but there was no reaction - like talking to a wall...

As Lucius says bump score needed on few board.

On listed board above they are need activity and merit to get bump power. As we know, in other board such as "services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0)" not affected from new Bump rules. I think Joniboini and @OP talking about post on board that not listed for Bump Score.

I'm talking about bumping on services threads that are not affected by the bump power thing which is what OP is talking about. Unless I mistake his intention and he's talking about services on altcoin boards.

Yeah, I believe so. Unless their services are disrupted to such extend they will just repeat it again. What makes it worse is when people are spamming to remind the OP when 1 post is enough by adding unnecessary details such as linking thread rules, explaining the punishment etc.

Yeah! Everyone should already knew about this and maybe the exemption would be Newbie/Brand New accounts only. But sometimes other members blindy ignore this rule for some reasons like avoiding to decrease their activity.

I also see same thing happening in sig campaign threads. Members apply over and over again but never clean up the mess they made when they're rejected. How annoying they are to be honest ::), especially those members who can't understand the term "CFNP", "FULL" and "CLOSED".
