Title: Is localcryptos.com a scum (fraud) service?
Post by: terrasoff on March 25, 2020, 02:00:54 AM
I wanted to buy some bitcoins on the localcryptos.com and joined the trade to exchange my paypal USD to BTC.

Seller put BTC in escrow. And system showed it.
I supposed that escrow might guarantee that the deal is safe.
I transfered my paypal USD to the seller by given email.

Then I found that his account is suspended and the trade is canceled.
There is no button "Open duspute" on the trade's screen.
The seller is not responding.
Support team is not responding.
I don't have paypal USD, I don't have BTC.

It's so weird to me that fraud is so easy on localcryptos.com.
The strangest thing about it the escrow was released.

Luckily it was my test transfer with low amount to check the service.
Be careful with that service guys.

I don't know how safe this p2p exchange is but it seems legit according to this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5204160.0

How about dispute the transaction directly from PayPal?
Have you tried it?

Since you use PayPal as payment you can retrieve them by dispute/chargeback transaction.
You can find the guide from here "Disputes, claims, chargebacks, and bank reversals (https://paypal.com/us/brc/article/customer-disputes-claims-chargebacks-bank-reversals)"

This is not a topic for BH board. Move this to scam accusations and you'll get better exposure. It might pressure them to respond to your case asap.

Sure, I have some experience in the past, disputes transaction may can help you get your money back. But, one thing need to know by buyer, if seller (scammer) not withdrawing their money from Paypal to his bank account. When it happen, disputes wouldn't help you. Paypal only can delete and block that account but you will not get your money back. So, kindly try to ask about disputes transaction to paypal if @OP want to get money back.

This is not guarantee will sucess, at least you can try.

Btw, please consider to do as @joniboini says to move this thread to Scam accussation

Have you submitted a ticket to localcryptos support? I was doing trading there a lot of times, and always it was very trusted and clear non-custodial platform. Very curious to know about support's LC answer for this situation
