Hi

Did someone help you?

I have a private key for a btc wallet but that's all. Is it possible to access that wallet?

If you have a private wallet, you can either import it to a wallet of yours, or you can sweep it into an address you control.

Electrum wallet lets you sweep the address; and honestly, that's the best thing you can do, since once you enter it anywhere, that private key will have been exposed and can not be considered "safe".

I didn't understand, you mean if i share the hash, my walled can be stealed?

I was replying to the other user, not to you. But I'll leave you a couple of questions.

-If a user agreed to bruteforce your wallet, what's stopping them from keeping the whole BTC and not sending anything to you?

-Is there any way you can confirm the wallet is yours?

-What wallet app were you using for this wallet file?

-If a user agreed to bruteforce your wallet, what's stopping them from keeping the whole BTC and not sending anything to you?: By bruteforcing a wallet, normally you only need the hash, not the walled.dat files, but i don't really know if someone can steal a wallet with the hash, i have no idea.

-Is there any way you can confirm the wallet is yours? I don't know, i made a backup of my 2015 pc on a extern disk, i found it by searching my old motherboard and i found this disk, i was curious. So i found all Bitcoin Core files, with the wallet.dat, i opened the wallet.dat file and i just found 2.2BTC that i totally forgot.

-What wallet app were you using for this wallet file? Bitcoin Core

Thank you for your attention to me, I hope to succeed!

So 1BTC are now 2.2BTC....

-Do you have any idea of what the password might be? Otherwise, no matter how good a GPU is, it will take too many time.

-You might get more help moving this to the Wallet software board, but if you already know the hash and have some clue of the password, I doubt there's much they can do

I said 1 BTC because the wallet was being synchronized, so the incorrect balance.

-Do you have any idea of what the password might be? Otherwise, no matter how good a GPU is, it will take too many time: No, no idea of my 2015 passwords, I change them every 6 months, and i have a ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 8GO Gaming, i think it's enougth x)

-You might get more help moving this to the Wallet software board, but if you already know the hash and have some clue of the password, I doubt there's much they can do: The hash seem a simple password according to me seen that it is short (101 catacteres), and what do you mean by "You might get more help moving this to the Wallet software board", i got the hash with bitcoin2john, and he's correct.

Then, why don't you try using hashcat yourself? It will take longer but will be cheaper in the end.

I meant that people with more technical knowledge frequent those boards and might be more helpful. But if you already have the hash and only need the bruteforcing, I don't think they can bring many more insights.

This is way more than useless. Cmon, if it will be more than 8 charc. , 2.2 btc won't recover the money spent on resources. I know 1 or 2 russian companies that will ask you to pay them per day with already made software for finding the passwords, just enter your wallet.dat. But if it takes 1 day, or 1 week or 1 year until it is done that's a different story.

Anyway, still... quite useless.

Do not afraid, without having a wallet dat file noone can steal your coins.

No, no idea of my 2015 passwords, I change them every 6 months, and i have a ASUS ROG STRIX 2080 8GO Gaming, i think it's enougth x)

Then noone will help you. Even 7-8 chars password from full alphabet (77 chars) will be cost much more to crack than even all 2.2 btc on your wallet.
If you don't remember the length of a password, the alphabet for this password (did you used  numbers, upper cases, special symbols etc) better forget about you wallet for better times. 1000 of dollars it's a joke, dude.

Details are vital on this yea.    Try cracking even a rar file and you will find it requires quite a simple challenge of a short simple password to be feasible.      I say this as someone who ran his a brute force attempt up past 6 characters, I had hoped they made great advances recently that might allow it but the problem is the combination is exponential the more characters involved especially any non alphanumeric.
I have a plain old wallet spare with a balance on it, the main drawback being the hard disk requires recovery of the partition which is possible but its definitely got some reason why it no longer gives proper response to the file system.   In that case I think its alot more feasible to recover then this scenario but it would still take time as the disk is 1 terabyte single partition NTFS I think.

Not his wallet I guarantee it. A 2.2 BTC wallet is on sale in multiple marketplaces. The address is https://checkbitcoinaddress.com/bitcoin/1N8L17Z7D6bBCWkSKABDf2qqJNHT1R9fv7 (https://checkbitcoinaddress.com/bitcoin/1N8L17Z7D6bBCWkSKABDf2qqJNHT1R9fv7). Bought it myself out of curiosity, and let me tell you, even with hashcat, millions upon millions of passwords in the 7 to 13 character range, an RTX 2080, and different masks, this wallet can't be cracked. I'll even send you the wallet if you DM me, I've exhausted all possible options so have at it.

I think OP is another victim of wallet seller. I must warn you that password bigger than 10 symbols with maximal alphabet (A3 = 77 characters) is uncrackable even with large mining farms. At least, in monetary terms. Noone will spend many time and electricity to crack wallet just with 2 btc. Even with 20.

For example, i counted needed hashing powers to crack 8 char pass with A3 alphabet. To crack it during 70 days (with 50 % probability it will take 35 days) you will be need 10 000 gpu cards Nvidia 2080 ti

The only possible way to decrypt those wallets is to either find a way to break the AES cipher or have 100,000 some odd 14Tb HDD's that contain all possible passwords. Plain and simple. Satoshi knew what he was doing. 10 years later and no one has come close to "breaking" Bitcoin.

Little wrong.

You need not only free space for such rainbow table, but you need at first to create it. And yeah, because of that you need strong computing powers. So it's unlikely to create rainbow table for 13 digit password of 77 chars aplhabet, because you not only need  100 000 HDD, but to crack all possible combinations to create such table  :)

just an exaggeration, but yes you will need a lot of space for generating tables of that magnitude
