Title: Why need Investor-based games section if it's scam only?
Post by: Solosanz on April 17, 2020, 09:11:59 AM
Hello everyone,

This question just pops up in my mind, Why we need Investor-based games section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=207.0) if all of the thread of that's section is a scam? While I visit it, almost of the topic starter get negative trust and flagged. As we know investing on HYIP project and cloud mining it's just ponzi scheme, where we should stay away from all of thats project. Does this section is created to gather all ponzi scam projects from a user's post in this forum? So we can stay away and ignoring this section.

Or not all of the HYIP project and Cloud mining is scam?  ???

Thank you for the response

We need it for the same reason we need all the other boards and sub-boards: to separate topics. Otherwise, the forum'd be a mess. There apparently are some members out here who put out scams but can't be kicked out of the forum so better "quarantine" them inside a board where all them scammers are than let them be around more popular boards.

On the other hand, it's sad that the number of scammers has overtaken the one of legit projects and services and they have to be put altogether. But it is what it is.. :)

I believe not all business presented in that section are scams, it's called like a game because it's a high risk investment.
But personally, my experience was really bad investing with HYIP, that was the time when I was still new in crypto, and I have learn from it.
Now, I'm not anymore visiting the site, but I don't want to judge all of them are scams.

Yes, I have also been trapped in this situation and cheated by the HYIP scam project. Cloud mining that is well packaged and looks profitable, when making multiple deposits to increase the speed of the hash is even disastrous and deceived by fake cloud mining.

HYIP projects and cloud mining with large profits are now even more, but not all HYIP and scam projects, there are some that pay and are real.

Not all HYIPs are scam though the percentage of legit one is so low that Investor-based games section is now only littered with mostly scams/ponzis. I believe when the board was created, there wasn't as much scam as we see these days otherwise i don't think Theymos or any previous admins would have created that board.

Don't most (if not all) HYIP work with the idea that you need someone's else money to pay for the previous investors (basically pyramid schemes?)? I, at least, never saw any HYIP which has a real business model that sustains itself and without any issue in the long term.

Sadly the forum looks down on legit ponzi games that were actually pretty fun to play. ChainProfit/CrazyPonzi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=926237.msg10168696#msg10168696) was an example from 2015-2016. There were 1-2 more that I can't remember the names of, though I believe they ended up exit scamming. I kinda wish a legitimate game would come back; decent amount of strategy especially if varying "plans" of varying lengths were offered and the site itself would be profitable from rake.

IIRC even clearly stated ponzi games were given negative trust (ChainProfit was the one exception and even that took a lot of convincing) and forcing them into a section only used for people to post scams/farm signature posts nowadays has basically killed any chance at a revival.

Most of them draw up projects to attract investors.
Some people still make a profit from HYIP by helping projects attract investors and earn commissions. The majority of them are centipedes' legs.

To be honest, I don't think there is anything wrong with ponzis when they are self-claimed ponzis. For me, they are just another gambling game like Crash.

The problem lies when they claim they are "a group of young and passioned investors with 20 years of forex and bitcoin hand mining" and offer "legit" investment opportunities for whoever dares to send them money.

Some people may give them negative trusts even when they put a big warning saying they operate as any other ponzi, but I personally wouldn't.
