Bpip means Bitcointalk Public Information Project

From what I know, BPIP was created by @Vod, both @ibminer and @suchmoon is developer in this sites.

Don't surprise when you see 10th anniversary words dominated the list. The forum has some biggest merit spree, and the merit sprees from theymos and community happened around the art contest is the second biggest spree. The biggest one is when theymos activated the merit system and dumped merits to qualified users. The third one is when many users abuse their merits when old-era Junior members got demoted in mid of 2018.

What exactly happened before 1st of January 2020? It exceeded the number of 5000 merits.

We had an art contest: 10th anniversary art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0) and several threads about the forum reaching the 10 year mark. That's the main reason I guess :)

In 2014, the forum had about 5500 BTC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780707.msg8798606#msg8798606). I remember I saw a more recent post of theymos saying the forum reserves are around 6000 BTC, but I can't find it right now... Maybe someone else has that post at hand?

Curiosity is power and I see you do really love entering the castle of bitcointalk forge my friend. Maybe we can contribute something and get merited too but the thing is I don't know how merit really works.

How merit works? You just post nice stuff and people send them to you as an instance of respect. How merit was born? Some hero members were awarded with a specific number of merit. They share them to others and this is how it began.

No, I'm not talking about how many merits did they earn from their posts. I'm talking about how many they added by themselves, from their admin panel.

I don't know who is "they" lol. Theymos is the one running the forum and he has multiple staff members helping him.

He did not give merits to himself nor to the staff. You can see here the entire merit history of any member, including theymos: http://loyce.club/.

He is the most merited member of the forum.

I'm just saying that some thousands merits somehow were "born". If theymos is the head admin then he must have made them and then spread them to everybody.

I think you are confused a bit, although I wrote before a quote from his words.

So: at that moment (Jan 24, 2018), if you were already Legendary, you would have received an airdrop of merits equal to the number this rank requires now: 1000. If you were Hero, you would have received an airdrop of 500 merits. And so on: the same applied for Sr. Members, which received 250 airdropped merits, or 100 for Full members.

All these merits were "born" through code, of course.

After that moment, all the new registered users had to start earning from 0 merits.

As a matter of fact, even Members received 10 airdropped merits at that time.

The only ones who didn't receive any airdrop were the ranks which did not require any merit back then: Brand New, Newbie and Jr. Member.

Months later, in Sept. 2018, theymos changed the requirements for Jr. Members, which, since then, need 1 merit (more info here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.msg45810047#msg45810047)).

This led to a mass demotion of all Jr. Members to Newbie (all which didn't have at least 1 merit, of course) and also to a riot of the shitposters lol. But it was a great enhancement!
