Title: Bitinfocharts.com what is wallet id number?
Post by: koch44 on April 19, 2020, 02:26:01 PM
On some of their addresses they have a wallet number assigned, what does it mean?

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/12ib7dApVFvg82TXKycWBNpN8kFyiAN1dr

Here is said wallet 967? What does the number 967 mean?

Or here they have another number 559

Thanks

I could be wrong but I think they represent ranking in terms of when the address first received BTC.

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/1

Code:
Received	count: 3	first: 2009-01-12 08:16:40	last: 2009-01-13 19:49:42

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/2

Code:
Received	count: 9	first: 2009-01-15 02:46:26	last: 2009-01-15 07:08:20

If you keep increasing the wallet number, you will notice that the date keep going up.

-snip-

I think it's not the first received funds, but the first sent funds
I have another example

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/965

Code:
Received	count: 2	first: 2010-05-31 11:57:06	last: 2010-05-31 14:20:37
         Sent count: 2 first: 2010-06-02 12:09:38 last: 2010-06-02 12:09:38

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/966

Code:
Received	count: 4	first: 2010-05-27 04:27:25	last: 2010-06-01 13:50:30
         Sent count: 4 first: 2010-06-02 17:13:27 last: 2010-06-02 17:13:27

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/967

Code:
Received	count: 102	first: 2010-05-04 11:45:29	last: 2020-03-11 13:30:45
         Sent count: 10       first: 2010-06-02 17:57:07 last: 2010-07-25 06:35:23

The wallet 965 first receive is on 31, wallet 966 first receive is on 27 and wallet 967 first receive is on 4

If it's ranked from first receive, it's should be wallet 967 not 965

And if we look in the first sent it's sequentially from each wallet rank

The wallet 965 first sent 12:09:38, wallet 966 first sent 17:13:27, and wallet 967 first sent 17:57:07 in same day

Every wallet includes multiple addresses.

If addresses A and B are spent in a single transaction, they will get connected to each other into a wallet. If addresses B and C are spent in another transaction, address C will go to that wallet and get connected with A and B.

If there is no wallet associated with an address, it means that address has never been spent with any other address in one transaction.

For example, if you go to wallet number 967 (https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/wallet/967) and then click on "show addresses", you will see a list including 7 addresses.

Bitinfocharts (https://bitinfocharts.com/) shows the balance over time for addresses and wallets (A collection of multiple addresses) as well.

It looks to me like the site is doing analysis of the block chain, grouping addresses by the wallets that control them. If they don't know who controls the wallet, they just give it a number.

For example look at the wallet listed for this address: https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/17A16QmavnUfCW11DAApiJxp7ARnxN5pGX

edit: Added a Poloniex address as an example

hosseinimr93 and odolvlobo have it correct.

The site is doing basic blockchain analysis and simply grouping "related" addresses together. A bit like the old "walletexplorer.com (https://www.walletexplorer.com/)"...

WalletExplorer uses numbers for "unknown" wallets like this [7767516983aefd8c]: https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/7767516983aefd8c
And will list the label if it is a "known" wallet, like this [Poloniex.com]: https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/Poloniex.com
