Title: Best place to buy crypto in Canada via interac e-transfer?
Post by: syntacks on April 21, 2020, 10:22:13 AM
Where is a good place to buy crypto in Canada via Interac e-transfer? Someone suggested coinberry but I signed up and the price of BTC was wayyyyy above what the trading price was...
I'm trying to get into trading are there any trading sites on coinmarketcap where I can do this?

The best advice will be given by someone from Canada who has tried the trading method you are looking for. But I did a quick search, and beside Coinberry there are few companies that offer such service. Pay attention to pros/coins for each service.

I would recommend you to use https://paxful.com/ since it's more cheap

0% fees for buyers
1% fees for sellers

You can find the offer here https://paxful.com/buy-bitcoin/interac-e-transfer

Be careful to not trusted a people, you should verify it because there are many scammer

Besides the link suggested by Lucius , you can also use P2P marketplaces such as Localbitcoin, Localcryptos, and others. At least on LocalBitcoin, I'm sure there are offers to buy. The thing is you can be sure you won't get a spot price.
Mybtc.ca has a ~7% fee, to compare with.

Ok great, thanks for all the info! If anyone knows someone or a site that will do a lower fee please let me know, I can do Interac e-transfer, wire transfer, PayPal, and gift cards (maybe if I buy US gift cards online I can get the USD price with ofc the exchange rate but it's possible the price could be lower?) does anyone know what would be the best exchange rate or a website that sells USD gift cards for a lower exchange rate, I know some websites with discounted gift cards usually 5% discount. Anyone know a website with 10%+ discounted gift cards if I buy a $1,000 gift card? Or the best option? Just trying to get the lowest exchange rate or lowest buying fees. I appreciate all the feedback, thanks again.  :)

No problem...

It will be worse using Paypal, you will pay with a rate of 20% above the market and a lot of them will ask you selfie, ID card and I don't know what else. Since the trades happen mainly on P2P marketplaces, it also means you will have to send it to an unknown person, not the website itself.
With gift cards you will still pay a price above that, I can't tell you how much.

However, since you can use wire transfer it gives you many more options.
You can go to Kraken, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, etc., at least in that case you will pay the market price but no more.

syntacks, if you can afford to buy outside of Canada and I think in case you are buying BTC this should not be a problem. For PayPal, you can check our forum Currency exchange (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0) where you can get in most cases 1:1 rate, or even premium price in some cases.

What is important to emphasize is that you should check every seller (click on Trust under user name/read feedbacks), and for significant amounts, use escrow (trusted forum members like DireWolfM14 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201269.0) or bL4nkcode (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2062906.0)).

i've heard good things about https://bullbitcoin.com/ run by @francispouliot. (https://twitter.com/francispouliot_) i took a look at the numbers and if you use them to buy bitcoins it'll cost ~2% from start to finish. they accept interac e-transfer. most international exchanges will require bank wire.

while 1:1 (or even a premium) sounds nice, that will be tough to find for a newbie using reversible payment methods.

I'm in the US, so I have a different type of banking system to contend with when it comes to funding my Exchange accounts.  Binance.us (US only) and Coinbase Pro are the most affordable and convenient for me right now, because both allow me to fund my accounts with ACH which is free.

I believe Coinbase Pro is available to Canadians, and I know Binance.com (binance's global site) is available to you.  The biggest challenge you'll have is funding your exchange accounts affordably, but it's worth looking into.  Both charge 0.5% for market or limit orders.  Coinbase Pro has free withdrawals, but Binance charges 0.0005BTC to withdraw bitcoin.

I use ACH to fund my account, and due to that they don't allow immediate withdrawals.  The restriction could last up to 10 calendar days.  This may not be the case for Canadian customers, but I really don't know.  Neither accepts PayPal payments, but wire transfers are likely to be available to you.

If you have an IBAN account, Bitstamp might be another good option.

Canada is supported by most of the exchange for buying cryptos. But if you want to use some particular method to buy crypto in Canada then please check local exchanges that are available in your area.
