Title: My 9 months & 850 merit
Post by: zasad@ on April 23, 2020, 10:14:54 PM
Hi !
I’ve been at this forum for almost 9 months, I wanted to share my thoughts.
During this short time, many events happened:

I participated in the 10th anniversary art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg52830677#msg52830677)
I was charged with merit abuse (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211855.0), which was withdrawn.
I was nominated for [2019] BitcoinTalk's Newbie of the Year (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215097.0)
I became a DT1 user.

Where is so much merit?
Look it (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5235612)

Here is a list of all my articles and translations.

If someone thinks that getting merit is easy, he is mistaken. In the Russian board it is difficult to get merit.

I write about ETH, DeFi, Russian finance and taxes and try to share useful information.

Thanks to everyone who supported me with merits and kind words.

Share your knowledge and spend more time getting it.
Cryptocurrency and decentralized technologies are our future.
Many do not know that Bloomberg uses Ethereum to trade, and what will happen next?

It's a shame that the forum is now blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation and search engines do not give links to it.
https://reestr.rublacklist.net/search/?q=bitcointalk.org

Reason: Crypto casinos are prohibited in the Russian Federation(therefore, they block all sites where the information was posted).

Support those projects that develop the crypto community, and not destroy it.

Cheers..

Very smooth and nice journey on Bitcointalk. You have helped the forum with your experience and knowledge and the forum has given you merit in recognition of your good work. But there will be some people who always think a little differently, such as merit abuse in your case. But you are now a DT1 member with your trustworthiness. Go ahead and good luck to your nice journey.

And this is for you.....

With a period of less than one year you get 858 merit and achieving Sr. Rank is extraordinary.

I feel that I, who has been in this forum for a long time since 2016, was surpassed by you.
I currently have 872 merits and you almost match me.
Getting the reward is indeed not easy, it needs useful and quality posts and has many contributions to the forum.
You have also joined the 10th bitcointalk anniversary art contest and I also participated in it and got a special badge from the contest.

my work when taking part in an art contest: MADURA Antique Carving (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg53115743#msg53115743)

But what is very unfortunate is, blocking bitcointalk in your country, ordinary people will not be able to access this forum easily, still need a VPN connection to be able to open this forum.

You are an extraordinary friend and hopefully remain a member who continues to contribute to this forum

You seems to be very faster than most other people. I did not see anyone with such faster merit earned, not at least with your ratio to activity and post. You still have more than 1 merit per post which is a great achievement. Obviously you are a damn good poster. Keep up contribution to the community.

Hmm, Congrats buddy for your achievements.

Most of his merits are coming from the local boards. May be he is local hero in russian board and offering some services over there. Thats why people are meriting him a lot.

Local board is always great help for those who wants to earn merit with such speeds. Since you are HOME and there is no one to dominate you.!   ;)

I've checked your merits and a lot of it came from the local board, still, it was not easy to earn 850 merits in just 9months that was just so fast. Just continue what you are doing to contribute to the forum! Good to see you around!

No it isnt easy as they say. But of course merits can easilt achieved once you are a good poster and this only shows why youve got so many merits.

I like the topic you are focusing and technically one of the hot topic today, "defi" with regards to taxation, I am not really familiar with it, but its good that you are aware of the Russian taxes and finances related this surely helps your local buddies.

You gained merits majority from your local and thats fine your like a fast merit earner like other users here @Ratimov and @nullius. Continue dude, you have a bright future ahead. Comgratulations.

Earning 800 plus of merits is a real deal of being a great poster and now you are a potential Hero Member. I joined bitcointalk in the year 2017 and I managed to rank up into a "Member" before the merit system was introduced. I became a "Full Member" because with the help of merit spree during the last 10th anniversary art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg52870979#msg52870979), the merits I received from the contest gives me hope that I can somehow reach a higher rank and appreciate the importance of the community.

It makes me envious to see people who registered after me and surpassing my merit count but then, I realized that it is just an indication to learn and contribute for the betterment of the community.

Share your knowledge and spend more time getting it.

Thank you for the encouragement. This is the first I am interacting with you and it is a pleasure mate!

looking at your merit history it does seem suspicious at first glance but who am I to judge and since the accusation was withdrawn it's clear that all the merits you got are well deserved. Congratulation!

Seems like you are a big supporter of DeFi platforms. You also know about the financial and taxation system in Russia so it is clear that most of your merits come from Russian users who are finding it good to invest in stablecoins or use DeFi platforms. Can you explain that why exactly are stablecoins and DeFi gaining popularity in your home country? Can that be attributed to the fact that most normal transactions and finances in Russia may very well be too strictly controlled? The trades happening on these platforms is big-ticket Russians or the common people?

Considering that the forum has been banned there, it is quite evident that this cryptocurrencies is scaring the authorities. Can you elaborate a bit on these issues for non-russian users to get a grasp of what exactly significant is going on there.

850+ merits aren't bad for 9 months because for me it is really hard to achieve, I've been here for almost 4 years but I only got 600+ merits(too slow). Congratulation on those achievements mate, cap wearers are always good( I missed my cap).

Congrats... you are the another example of the successful merit system. You have proved everything possible if you have confidence that you can do. I have remember my merit earn ratio was something like you, my merits always faster than my activity and still same.

When we joined on this forum we didn't know each other. So those people are wondering that you need lobbying in order to earn high merits they are wrong in my opinion. Because you created lobbying by your own contributions. We hadn't joined here with lobbying.

Keep your contributions, try to motivate more newbies that they could do as well. Todays newbies, tomorrow's Legendary.

Lot of people here in forum are taking months or even years to just earn a small amount of merit and actually, I believe that lot of new members here quitting because of the merit requirement for ranking, thinking that it is impossible. But it's just a handwork and enjoying the stay here in forum and the merits will come naturally. Your contribution on your local section is wonderful! Congrats again!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I do not know how much merit you have earned in the Russian board only. But with a quick glance on your merit summary I can see you have got Merits in English boards too. Don’t understand me wrong, but without good English skills is quite difficult to get so much merit if you only post in local boards. Keep up the good work.

In Russia, there are still no laws on cryptocurrency :) Cryptocurrency is not taxed. Taxes need to be paid only when exchanging cryptocurrency for fiat. You can absolutely legally store cryptocurrency, exchange it for other coins and tokens and not pay taxes.Or pay 4% of taxes on the amount when exchanging for fiat as a self-employed citizen.

Tax control is being strengthened in all countries. If more than 600,000 rubles ($ 8,100) are received per month in a Russian citizen’s current account or there is a constant flow of money to a current account, then a citizen can be called to the tax authorities to provide clarification and verification.
But if we compare the tax laws of the United States, Europe and Russia, then Russia has the weakest control.

The forum in Russia is not prohibited and cryptocurrency is not prohibited. In Russia, there is a practice of blocking the entire resource, if there is information about the crypto casino.

If someone thinks that "cryptocurrency scares the Russian authorities" - this is a mistake. If you write a list of problems in the Russian Federation, then the cryptocurrency problem will be very far from the beginning of the list :) We have the best tax legislation. Miners, traders, crypto enthusiasts pay taxes only when exchanging for fiat.

Therefore, I constantly monitor Russian law. I abide by the law of my country.

USDT,USDC it is a digital dollar. It is very comfortable.

Sorry, I wrote the wrong one last time. The correct value is 4%.

In Russia, income taxes are 13% for ordinary citizens (mainly). In Russia, there is a program of legalization of incomes of the population, so in the next 10 years, any citizen can register as a self-employed citizen and pay 4% of income. (You just need to download the android application)
https://npd.nalog.ru/app/

The maximum limit is 2,400,000 rubles ($ 32,120) per person per year.

If you violate the law and you are caught on its violation, fines can be from 33% of the amount of income + penalties.

If you do not declare an income of more than 1,500,000 rubles ($ 20,000), you may be prosecuted

So 32K per year is the max for self-employed citizens. For those earning higher, they'd be paying 13% along with the rest?

Once you have exceeded the limit of 2,400,000 rubles, you lose the status of self-employed, and you need to register as an Individual Entrepreneur or LCC and pay higher taxes.

13% is a tax on income that is paid on a citizen’s salary or non-permanent commercial activity (for example, he sold a car with a profit).

If you decide to engage in commercial activities, you must register as a self-employed, individual entrepreneur or register an LLC.

For example: husband and wife are engaged in commercial activities together, both of them can register as self-employed and each of them will have a limit of 2,400,000 rubles per year. (this is a large amount, the average salary in Russia is 42352 rubles ( 566$) (according to Rosstat).

Even if a citizen is employed and receives a salary, he can additionally register as self-employed.

Officials, military, police and other civil servants cannot be self-employed (I hope it is clear why :))

You can absolutely legally store cryptocurrency, exchange it for other coins and tokens and not pay taxes.Or pay 4% of taxes on the amount when exchanging for fiat as a self-employed citizen.
So if you are directly earning BTC and not converting it to fiat then you don't have to pay any taxes. Is it possible for people in the bigger cities to buy stuff using BTC and thus save on their taxes?

The forum in Russia is not prohibited and cryptocurrency is not prohibited. In Russia, there is a practice of blocking the entire resource, if there is information about the crypto casino.
I thought you said earlier that the forum gets blocked in search results because of the mention of online casinos.

It's a shame that the forum is now blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation and search engines do not give links to it.
https://reestr.rublacklist.net/search/?q=bitcointalk.org
Well, i guess its just some blocked content and you can usually access it like you are doing now.

If someone thinks that "cryptocurrency scares the Russian authorities" - this is a mistake.
Russia was a communist country right and from what i know, oligarchs still have a big role in all kind of enterprises there. Bitcoin is all about freedom from the state for owning your finances. Decentralization is a basic tenet while the authorities and people who rule the country are all about centralization. I admit that Russia can neither be classified nor understood easily. Yet, as there are lot of Russians in the forum, it'd be great to know from you guys what you think about your country's policies regarding state control, censorship etc.

Personally for me, Russia is like an old white, mystical land of expert craftsmen, machinists and builders who at one time built some of the heaviest, most sophisticated big machines in the world. (Ohh what times..:) )In our company, I have worked on old Russian designed steam turbines and they truly were behemoths to look at. Now that i think of it, its striking how little we actually know about Russia as compared to the USA and West in general..

The Russian ruble is the only permitted currency. All prices must be in rubles. It is forbidden to write prices in dollars, euros or bitcoins. And in practice, it is very difficult to buy goods for bitcoin. You will have to exchange it for rubles.

The procedure for blocking sites in Russia is complicated. If the site is blocked, this does not mean that all information on it is prohibited. I am not an expert on this issue, I can not explain in more detail.

Cryptocurrency is not a threat to the state. Many experts say that we will follow the example of the United States. We will appoint regulators, certify exchanges, conduct KYC procedure.. etc.

Russia is a multinational country with a large territory, huge resources and opportunities for people.

I also try to be a useful participant in the forum, write useful articles and make translations. It is very difficult to earn this amount of merit.

Many users do something useful if they need merit. I do not see this as a bad intention. Maybe people like my articles because I write about what I like. I write about Bitcoin, ETH, DeFi, finance and taxes (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5235612). I try to immediately share useful information and not hide anything.

Try to share the information that interests you. In the cryptocurrency sphere, there are a lot of topics: trading, investments, mining.. etc.
Try to spend more time studying and not participating in useless disputes on the forum. Be careful with new projects until you get the hang of it. Better not write about what you are not sure about. Otherwise, you will be accused of promoting scam.

Congratulation mate!.
It is a big achievement to get merits in just a short period of time.
I have joined bitcointalk before 1 year. I am new at this platform. But i am trying to make useful posts. Merits performs an important role in building our profile. The more merit a person has, the bigger his profile. The ranks in the bitcointalk are such as.
1. Brand New
2. Newbie
3. Jr. Member
4. Member
5. Full Member
6. Sr. Member
7. Hero Member
8. Legendary

One thousand merits are too much but having two thousand merits is too much I would like to congratulate you I will set this thread as an inspiration I know I'm just too far from your merit count but soon I want to achieve this. I already read and comment on some of your thread which is really good and helpful threads.  I will watch this thread and look for your next milestone. Ilove3000 next merit goal. Congrats again.

Good day!
Today I have a small achievement.
The number of my posts is equal to the number of merit.
2109

Very well done! This is not a

this is something truly amazing. A Merit:Post ratio >1 puts you in a very small club here on BitcoinTalk. A club I would like to be part of.

I just noticed some few members that did excellently in the forum with some wide sense of intellectualism and improvement and that's zasad@. Actually you deserve it.
Let's do some calculations here, at the time of this thread, April 2020, you achieved 850 merits in 9 months, subsequently, it's another 9 months while you have earned 1,272 more merits, that's 850 + 1272 = 2122 at the current merits., Congratulations

Heave a sigh of relief and observe the improvements ;D

Congratulations about this achievement.
I never really cared that much about getting merit in the past 2 years, but now it's time to put more effort and get to the Legendary rank. ;D
The merit system really helped for reducing the forum spam and account farming, but it kinda concentrates more and more merit into a small group of dedicated forum members. Some of those members forget that there's no point of hoarding merit and they don't give merit to users, who really deserve it.
Perhaps, theymos will think about deleting the sMerit of all inactive users,or deleting sMerit, that wasn't given away after a certain time frame, for example 3 or 6 months.

Those who say that getting merits is difficult then one should get inspired by the OP who has managed to get so many merits in such less time. It just shows that if we are committed, nothing is impossible.
I hope many people will get motivated by him.  :)
