Title: EOS-based wallet vanishes, taking $52 million with it
Post by: TravelMug on April 25, 2020, 02:37:06 AM
Anyone seen this news?

Chinese digital wallet “EOS Ecosystem” vanished—along with $52 million in customer funds, which have reportedly made their way to the Huobi exchange.

In brief:

Analysts discovered the EOS Ecosystem accounts emptied on Monday.
The funds have allegedly been traced to the Huobi exchange.
This isn’t the first time the EOS community has been duped.

If they have been identified that it is going to Huobi exchanges then perhaps there's still time to recoup everything? Or it is late already? Well, $52 million is huge amount and we doesn't want to hear any case of crypto enthusiast losing their money again.

The article has already mentioned it.

The exchange has since pledged to freeze the funds as soon as they're discovered.

AFAIK, Huobi has withdrawal limit and there's still time to freeze that funds. How much withdraw limit also depends on the which tier that has already achieved by the account.

All the while we thought Wombat wallet is going to do the first exit scam but Starteos did it! Sometimes you just don't know when the legit team will carry out their evil plan. StartEOS as far as I know were recommended by those articles who listed the best EOS wallets.

I think  team need to do their own wallet that can easily understand by user's so no one will use other 3rd party wallet.  It sad to see that kind of news its not small money to lost from investors and the bad side about it is, it will also lost the trust of people who believe in EOS future.

Whatever the case may be for EOS I'm not pleased with their services, I have EOS in my wallet (pocket token) and I can't move out to exchange because of CPU and RAM absence, many have same issue and tram are silent about it

In this difficult and challenging time is when people will lose their money to scammers, this is really bad and hurtful. On a more serious note, EOS needs to have their own wallet built by the team which users can easily use and be at peace, all these third-party wallets, some are not easily understandable while some are fraudulent, a good example is this one. Having a platform's wallet, solves these issues.

The fact is that the current situation in the world, as well as on the cryptocurrency market, would certainly lead to the fact that a lot of altcoin will leave the cryptocurrency market and many platforms would be unclaimed.  if in the near future EOS loses its relevance, then it is likely that NEO, as well as Waves, will also cease to be relevant for cryptocurrency users and for new projects.  I believe that this is all to be expected.

I don't own EOS. Is this CPU and RAM thing is the same as what XRP is implementing with their wallets? The reserve balance of having 20 XRP? I'm completely ignorant of EOS since it didn't catch my attention.

They are acting like Binance but this is a good and quick reaction Huobi did.
