Post by: Edlo on April 27, 2020, 03:53:04 PM
Please tell me, I just created a wallet in Electrum. Is there a restriction on how much I can bring bitcoins there or not?

What do you mean by restrictions? If you mean by amount of funds then no. If you have a large amount of funds though you might want to look at increasing security in other ways such as using a hardware wallet or airgapping.

Before sending any funds to your new Electrum wallet, have you done any of recommended security steps?

1. Where exactly did you download your wallet from?
2. How safe is the system you installed it on? Do you have or use that PC for gaming, pornography, torrenting, cracked software, unlicensed OS...
3. What do you know about phishing and proper storage of seeds/private keys?
4. Have you verified the signatures of your Electrum software?

There are no restrictions. You can put all bitcoins you want in the same address/wallet.
However, as mentioned above, the biggest limitation is the security.

Unless you are a very experienced user who understands about cyber security, you should really consider buying a hardware wallet (specially Ledger or Trezor).

Hardware walelts are cheap, less than 100 bucks, and your coins will be 99.9% safe.

Electrum is a very good desktop wallet, however, we are human beings and we make mistakes. You may click in a phising website, a suspcious link, someone may infect your computer with a pendrive with viruses and so on... All those situations may expose your funds to hackers.

As other members pointed out, there is no restriction.
Technically speaking, bitcoins will not be sent to your Electrum wallet. All transactions sent to you are stored in the bitcoin blockchain (a public ledger).

A wallet is simply a software that interacts with the blockchain using your public and private keys.

No. Although I am curious as to what makes you think that there might be a restriction? ???

Did you read or hear somewhere that the wallet has a limitation? Or were you using a different wallet that had limitations? ???

Don't compare Electrum in any centralized exchange that has restrictions when depositing a large amount of bitcoin.
Any amount of BTC you can deposit on the Electrum wallet.

The only thing you need to do with your wallet is to protect them from hacking and protect Electrum from any viruses/malware.

Don't forget to verify the signiture to make sure that you are using a real Electrum wallet. You can follow the guide below
