Title: UNO - Unobtanium Thread moved and locked?
Post by: Benefactor on March 21, 2014, 04:42:17 AM
The original Unobtanium (UNO/Un) thread has been moved by Global Moderator BadBear and LOCKED.

I don't understand?  Why lock it?  Many of us the the UNO community go there for information.

-

I have great news for Un, so maybe that's why it's locked.  ;)  Typically, in the cycle of things, the next several days would be when Un will hit it's lows.

Maybe I will keep the news to myself for now, since I don't feel many in the UNO community will find this thread.

-

I was also disappointed the original thread was locked with the final post being a negative one without giving us a chance to address it.

-

I seriously don't understand.  Maybe it was locked by accident by the moderator??

So if you want to have a chance at making 665% (the amount that rare
coins rose in the last coin bull market), then you can’t buy South
African Krugerrands, for example. These coins are “desert property.”
They will never be worth much more than the price of gold. If gold rises
25%, Krugerrands will likely rise by 25%.
Once people become interested in “beachfront property” once again —
the desirable coins in limited supply for example — the sky is the limit.
It took me a few years to truly understand this... to understand just how
nice you should really buy when it comes to collectibles...
But now I get it. What you really want to own are 5-7 truly excellent
coins, for example, instead of dozens of pretty nice ones.

.
This is from a piece called The Secrets I've Learned About Making Money in Collectibles by Steve Sjuggerud.

I think UNO has a chance of being a quality crypto held much like MS70 graded gold/silver coins by the more discerning investor.

It's rare, it's fair, it's...
Unobtanium.

Was it FallingKnife's offer of a bounty for something?  That's about all I can see.  I thought that sort-of thing was normal in this forum, but maybe I haven't paid enough attention?

I wish there was a clear explanation.

The original Unobtanium (UNO/Un) thread has been moved by Global Moderator BadBear and LOCKED.

BadBear is the strong silent type?  No response yet?

UNlock the [ANN] Unobtanium Thread!

Meanwhile, post UNO related material here? or start a separate Unobtanium Thread Supplemental until answers/resolution for original?

BadBear will have to answer why folks couldn't get timely information or sentiment from [ANN] Unobtanium bitcoin forum thread due to it being locked.

To have success, UNO doesn't need the greatest number of investors, it needs the right kind of investors.  I'm keeping 97% of my rare UNO off the market, leaving only 3% as sell orders up to 1.0 BTC/UNO.  Get yours while they are available at or near current prices and hold most of them patiently for months and months.

Lots of discussion recently about over/under valued cryptos.  On episode 6 of Sex and Science Hour with Brian Sovryn and Dr. Stephanie Murphy on Let's Talk Bitcoin Network, they talked about a piece posted on January 27, 2014 by CryptoMaster.  Interesting to see Unobtanium ranked #62 of 85 cryptos analyzed (#1 = most overvalued, #85 = most undervalued according to criteria).

"We advise any readers to thoroughly research each coins before investing any amount of money into alternate crypto currencies. Below is a chart of the current daily maintenance cost for over 80 crypto currencies based on their values and coin generation rates today."

#62    UNO    240 Coins/day    0.00429984 BTC/UNO    $844.81 Maintenance Cost/day

~30,000 more UNO until block reward = 0.0001 after block 612,000.  Next halving at block 306,000 in about 2 weeks.

Well, I have good news and bad news.  I'll just drop it, here.

-

The good news is that there is now an Internet suffix .uno !!!  No kidding!  Bitcoin doesn't even have that!  There is no .btc suffix.  I can't for the life of me understand why they would put the .uno suffix up?  The UNO game?  Spaniard are going to take over the one-world government?!

Well, that looks like a huge opportunity for Unobtanium, IMHO.  Do with this info as you will.

It almost seems like some master design, but I really don't know, of course.

-

The bad news isn't actually bad, just unexpected, I'm sure.  The last time Un halved, it did so 2,000 blocks early, if I recall correctly.  I haven't looked at the source code, ...but help yourself..., so just guessing, I'm thinking this time it will be more noticeable and halve 4,000 blocks earlier than the publicly-stated crypto info suggests.  I assume this is just a programming bug, but alternatively, we can say that the crypto description is incorrect.  Afterall, the code is the code, but the description is a derivation from the code.

Overall, if anything, this means Unobtanium is that much more rare, as less will pop out of the mining algorithm before the minimums take over.

What do you think?  Freakin' out?  I'm not.

Will someone please check the code, and post the specific code on here, so we will know exactly when to expect the halving?  Thanks in advance!...

Who said anything about unstable?  One bug, which enhances the value, is hardly 'buggy'.

If you've read that whole quote you've got there, you'd also notice that this is an error in the description of the code, AFAIK.

-

Why so quick to pounce on a fine, rare crypto?

The last time Un halved, it did so 2,000 blocks early, if I recall correctly.

Was it miners that discovered this then?  I remember hearing something about it.  If miners are having a problem with Unobtanium block reward, then the challenge is to correct the issue.  As long as UNO miners are happy - I'm happy.

Reward halving won't be an issue after block 612,000 so I'm not concerned about halving.  I'm not a miner.  Miners might view things differently, I'd like to get their point of view on it all.

I think we have to start projects with UNO on our own.  Take the initiative.  It's tough in the whole cryptocurrency market right now, and after profits, maybe the usual 'leaders', if you will, are just taking time off.  Some are buying things up cheap, like UNO.

Go, get more people involved.  Get a greater network effect and find companies willing to offer goods and services for UNO.  Find new investors.  Get some whales involved!

I've got too many things going on to start an UNO project, so the call goes out to all.

With no reply on the locked thread - one can only speculate....

Well in the absense of a reply in four days I would assume it isn't going to be unlocked. Do you have any idea why it was locked?
