Title: Help with bitcoin transaction
Post by: bayer_04 on May 01, 2020, 03:47:39 PM
Hi,
Sorry if this thread is in wrong subforum. I am very new to the cryptocurrency market.
Two days ago, I made a payment through blockchain which never got any confirmation.
I was finding out and possibly it is the low fee of the transaction. Is there any way to cancel the transaction and do it for a higher fee?
I saw that there are some transaction accelerators, but they seemed to me very high costs, approximately 35% of my transaction.
Is there any way to reach the confirmations?
I appreciate your help.
Thanks for all.
Regards

There's no way to cancel the transaction once it's already broadcasted to the network.

If you can post your TXID here we can check how low your transaction fee is because we can submit it on ViaBTC free if the fee is above 10k sat.

You can try to submit it here https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/
But if your transaction fee is lower than 10k sat it won't work.

Much better post your TXID here and let me try to rebroadcast your transaction.

What wallet you are using?
You can do Child Pays For Parent (CPFP) if you want this transaction confirmed.

You probably used a low transaction fee. The mempool is pretty full since the last couple of days.

If you are not in a hurry just wait it out. Once the pool empties a bit and gets to your fee range, your transaction will be confirmed if everything is OK with it. 1-2 days ago you had to wait for 12+ hours for transactions in the 30-40 sat/vbyte range. Yours might be much lower.

Edit: Yes, just as I expected. You used 6 sat/vByte, hence the long unconfirmed status.

yes a very low fee will cause this.

you were trying to send $57.55 (at the time you sent) $60.43 now for $0.10 fee - if you want faster confirmations, you will need to use higher fees. Otherwise, like the guys above have stated, you  will have to wait it out. or pay more to use a transaction accelerator

Thanks a lot for your help.
I wil wait a few days more.
I already thought I had to give up the $60.

That wont happen. Even if your transaction doesn't get confirmed, it wont just disappear to an unknown place. Unconfirmed transactions eventually get dropped if they stay unconfirmed after several days. In that case the Bitcoin would be returned to your address.

I already rebroadcasted them but it seems it will take more time to confirm. I have a transaction a few hours ago with 10sat/byte but it confirms after 6hrs as my estimate time.

The only difference is I'm using segwit address that's why it confirm fast.

Your fee is not too far from 10sat/byte it should be confirmed in a few more hours.

If you can't wait for long you can do the CPFP this time you will need to create another transaction with a higher fee.
You can follow the recommended fee from here https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

The priority of your transaction alongside other unconfirmed transactions in the mempool doesn't look so bad currently as compared to yesterday or the other day. It could get confirmed within the next 24 hours or less.

bayer_04's 6.0 sat/vbyte transaction has now been confirmed and has over 20 confirmations already.

It took some time, but eventually it got there. The mempool looks much better in the last 24 hours.
