Title: Best platform to practice poker
Post by: RapTarX on May 02, 2020, 03:33:36 PM
I have been playing poker for the last couple of days, have lost a few mBTC within these days. I'm not an expert pokee player, I would like to practice it more. Is there any free way to do that? Any free platform you share would be a great benefit to me.

Have you tried youtube? I have not also much knowledge of poker. But I have tried to learn through youtube for a few days. Now I have some basic ideas about poker.  But not much. You can also try to get some help from youtube. Maybe you can get some basic ideas about it. But I don't sure about pro strategy.

Well, I am the same as you when I was started knowing poker. The first thing I did is I watched videos on youtube and studying what mechanics of the game and how it works and play. After knowing the rules and how does it play, and I installed a poker app on my mobile phone from Google play store and it is free. You can choose an online game or offline game poker. Perhaps that is good when you are practicing poker because it is free and there is nothing to spend your BTC.

Pokerstars have the 'PokerStars School' which offers a bunch of lessons and videos if you want to keep learning how to play poker.
Link: https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/school/

to practice with friends for free: donkhouse (website)

Friend of mine told me once that if you want to get serious with poker and further polish your skills, then there's gotta be money on the line (something about being under pressure and some psychological stuff)...Not sure if that's a good advice tho, I don't play poker.

Try online poker like zinga you can download it for free on your Android phone at Google PlayStore but there are variety of choices there just look for those who has more downloads. I've tried those and I guess it's pretty cool since you're playing with real life people online.

You only do have to login daily to get free chips or watch ads, just that simple to practice your skill on poker.

Youtube has poker tutorials, but I believe personal experience is the best teacher. If you have friends who play poker you can casually play with them to learn strategies in poker.  You can also play poker in some platform, I think facebook has a poker app where you can play with other people online.

It's a good platform to start practicing your decision making. You'll get chips free but it has no monetary value in the real world unlike the crypto casinos.

I played poker many times without actual cash being spent. You can play poker on facebook. I think it's Texas Hold'em poker and you can practice as long as you want without spending money at all. You can also download the app on playstore for android devices and apple store for ios device. There is also sit n go in facebook poker.

Poker needs a lot of experience and the best way to learn it is to download video tutorials and then play through facebook to apply your skills. If you want to improve your patience too which is another key skill in poker use the Sit n Go tournaments at Zynga Poker in Facebook.

You can try it with youtube, watch a couple of videos on how to play good at poker but most the videos there are quite from average player to professional level player that for some people they might find it hard to get or follow. Or you can just download a game on playstore or appstore so without spending a penny you'll get practiced to it. This is also what I did before entering online gambling though I already know how to play poker before. Just a suggestion don't get a tutor for gambling, I've seen some advertisement online regarding gambling tutorial which I find quite disturbing as a gambler.

Hundreds of free apps available on app market for both IOS and Android devices so you can download them for free and almost every games is just similar only their ad activity gets changes. So install few and find the one which got less spam and try to play on it.But poker on gambling sites have the real task because on free apps no one with real skill will try it, so try to get into gambling sites and try it with less amount.

there's plenty of crappy free platforms like zynga, or you could use play money on pokerstars, but these won't improve your skills much or prepare you for real money play. it's the same as freerolls: nobody plays real, serious, poker with play money. they just act like donks.

on SwC, they have "no-rake micro stakes" tables. at the lowest stakes, the small blind is only 2 satoshis! this is a good way to play with real money while also not taking much risk. better learning environment IMO.

How so? Did you play with money for gambling without knowing the game? This has been a huge mistake unfortunately!

To learn the game better, you can check out the following games that you can play on mobile devices;

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.ru.crazypanda.wpcm

Texas Hold'em
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zynga.livepoker
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playtika.wsop.gp

Also, some gambling platforms allow you to play games for testing purposes. You can try them.

I think facebook has a poker app where you can play with other people online.

The name is 'Texas HoldEm Poker'.

It's a good platform to start practicing your decision making. You'll get chips free but it has no monetary value in the real world unlike the crypto casinos.

Do they still have the apps?

It was year 2007 when I first played it there on facebook. I was very careful not to lose the coins I have though without real value. I think there are platforms in TRON or EOS for poker.

I hate playing poker in real like though. Doubling the amount bet is just not my way to gamble. While I hate to fold I also don't wanna double the amount.  :D

I always try to play poker on my android application after understanding all of it then I will play by betting mBtc but I rarely gamble with poker if the mechanism and strategy are not understood then we will always lose if the mechanism is not observed.

There are so many guidelines about poker how you can understand it, so that's what you choose.

In theory, I think the poker game is easy to just collect a few cards like below, you can remember it when playing or you can copy it if you don't remember.
https://i.imgur.com/HtC09SN.png
source image: google

In this picture, the level of the best cards or cards that have a high win rate is explained.

Following is the order of the best cards:
  • 1. Royal Flush
  • 2. Straight Flush
  • 3. Four of a Kind
  • 4. Full House
  • 5. Flush
  • 6. Straight
  • 7. Three of a Kind
  • 8. Two Pair
  • 9. One Pair
  • 10. High Card

But in this game, you will be tested for betting courage if you have a good card or not.

I often play this in online games and download it for free at Playstore.

Yes.

The app is still active so if you browse and use your Facebook account, take time to search for the app with the name that I've mentioned and play.

I learned playing it with the use of my smartphone. I just download apks (you can also directly download on Play Store) of poker games from the Internet. These are my recommendations:
1. Governor of Poker
2. Zynga Poker - this is better since you can play ot online.
3. Chinese Poker Online - if you want to try aside from Texas Holdem.

I also watch poker matches in Facbook and Youtube to get few tips particularly on how to bluff lol :D.

Watching youtube videos can be good start to learn the basic rules of poker but praticing more and more is the best thing to improve skills. @OP, if you are trying to see free platform to practice poker then you'll find it easily on playstore if you are android users. You can practice it by joining freeroll poker, most poker sites offers freeroll for their players. By this poker freeroll you can get two benefits, first is that you can practice poker with no risk of losing money and second benefit is that you have a chance to win something.

Just like the old thing that "Practice made perfect" but of course nothing is perfect specially in gambling unless you are cheater.

@RapTarX

I think you can avoid spending your hard earned money if you just wanted to practice your learnings in poker. I am fortunate to have a group of people who are into gambling and they recommended me to download an application in playstore wherein you can play poker without risking your money. They are using virtual money wherein you can exchange your won money for something.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tongitsgo.play

Disclaimer: It is just a recommendation from my friend and and additional resources from the above replies.

@RapTarX Poker is not a simple card game as many think it to be. Video tutorials can give you some good idea on how to play but practising with free platforms gives you literally nothing. As figmentofmyass has mentioned nobody plays real poker in free platforms, most of them play like lunatics as they have nothing to lose. If you want to improve your game, you'll have to play with real money. Only when real money is involved players naturally tend to play the game seriously and cautiously. So it's better to join micro stake tables and develop your game.

I just want to add one more thing, in poker, you don't have to play every hand. You can always fold your cards and watch others and read how they bet. But that doesn't mean that you should always fold and keep watching ;p

Following is the order of the best cards:
  • 1. Royal Flush
  • 2. Straight Flush
  • 3. Four of a Kind
  • 4. Full House
  • 5. Flush
  • 6. Straight
  • 7. Three of a Kind
  • 8. Two Pair
  • 9. One Pair
  • 10. High Card

I am also new in playing poker. Can I ask if it is required to follow the respective order of the cards as shown in the picture above?
Yes, this is the order of the best cards by which a winner is selected. For example, if you have three of a kind and your opponent has straight or anything higher the order, he'll be declared the winner. But if he has two pair or anything lower, you'll be declared as winner.

I recommend not only watching videos but play the actual game for you to get comfortable with the game.
If you noticed, someone just posted the sets of cards in a poker table, that's what you need to take an important note.
I remember playing poker online using in game currency 8 years ago, and It was a fun experience. That's where I learned how to play poker.
Just play the game with a minimal bet, you'll learn better that way than just watching videos.

Yes, that's the order of the cards with a high win rate, if when playing get cards like the number one order you have to bet all the money you have and you will definitely win the game.
Even if your opponent has the same card as yours, then you will share the victory with him, in theory.

In practice, a player is required to have the courage and confidence to bet, because in the first round participants are only given two cards by the bookie.  That is where your level of courage must be done between wanting to continue betting or not when you get two good cards or two bad cards.

I'm installing offline poker apps to play this game in my phone. Of course this game not for betting. But since you are need more practice, i think you can try to download it. You can get free chips everyday so you can play without any problem to learn.

I'm sure many facebook user will find this poker game on facebook since they will display the game on the upper right side of the screen that is why I know about it and also it's online too.

Same boat.
I am not good with online poker but I am good at it in a real poker room.  ;D
There is a lot of difference. You cannot bring the greedy type of yours into online pokers.
There is no bluffing, they could just deal with everything you throw at them.

I actually practiced using the facebook application. I think it is called Texas Holdem from Zynga. It's free  and I could just get some free tokens from sent gifts.
Tried playing it like it was my money and forgot about being greedy for the mean time. It was a success.
But still that was just a game for practice.

Head on to SWC poker. They have free tournament every half hour and the tables are filled with real people. You'll have plenty of time to learn different types of poker games. Though they don't have and teaching material, the wining hand is clearly displayed in the notification to analyze.

Have you tried youtube?
He has point when you want to practice poker, but things will not progress when you are just watching videos and learning the concept about it, you need first hand experience, there are apps in phones that you can play poker although you are playing with bots it is still a good practice because you are playing against an AI and that will hard because they are not thinking like a real human poker player, if you want to up the ante then you can assemble some of you friends who can play poker and play with them, there will be bets though but I don't all of friends want to play poker for money but when they do it is just a small stakes where 100$ is too much, remember that gather friends that play poker and can put up a fight in real games because it will really help. I think that being knowledgeable and experienced should go hand in hand when it comes to improving your skill.

We are now in information age and for sure that there are many websites around the internet that can help us to increase our knowledge about poker especially if we want to be on the advanced level. I also watched videos in the internet especially in youtube and facebook like the others. I also practice using the application that I downloaded through my phone. It really takes time to master the game but we should focus on gaining experience in order for us to become knowledgeable to it.

what app was that bro maybe you can share or link it here so that other people that are practicing can try it too . i
remeber i learn the game offline (reality ) before i use online apps  . technology right now are helpful to practice our existing skill especially if we dont have access to cards or on the actual game anymore . if we are first timer , i think its hard to just learn without experiencing the game in real world imo

You can download it at the playstore/appstore too! I usually practice there but the intensity or the pressure of the real game with money involves is nothing. I highly suggest to play with a little amount of money so you can get the vibe and the excitement of a real game, playing with 10$ will really teach you how the opponent move and you can get a lot of knowledge there.  ;)

You can try to download Texas Zynga Poker, it is an android/apple application that you can play on your mobile phone anytime you want. It is free and you can actually practice playing including your strategy and you might discover how to deal with other players since this is online that you can literally play with a real person.

I remember this. I downloaded this to my phone too.

You know its a lot entertaining and you will learn faster when you play the poker itself, you will learn the order of cards along the way. Heck I didn't learn that until I played it in real life with the boys in the neighborhood. They are the worse to play because they are the worse cheaters.

To be honest, I don't like to play poker, but I've learned it. Usually I am very comfortable learning from the YouTube platform,
it's not only free to learn poker from YouTube, but it's easier to understand. Sometimes I learn poker games from several websites.
Like mypokercoaching, pokernews, pokerstars and many more. With an internet connection it's easy to learn about poker.
On the websites I mentioned you can learn poker strategies, tactics, tips and get advice.

What happens to your account? Did you do something that breaks their rule? Because I think, as long as you didn't do something that violates their rules, your account will be fine. Because of Poker HoldEm connecting to Facebook, if you break the Facebook rules, then yes, they can close your account, all account that connected with Facebook.

You can also play for another game inside Facebook, but you should remember that you should stop playing the game after you play for a long time.

You can download it at the playstore/appstore too! I usually practice there but the intensity or the pressure of the real game with money involves is nothing. If that game is for my mobile phone, then I will think twice to download and install it because I run out of the memory of my mobile phone. I think it is good if you can learn how to play the games from those apps, but maybe you don't feel the pressure if you don't use the money. Yes, I always use little money when it comes to gambling games because I don't want to see the money that I have will loss in just a short time.

Agree.
No sweaty palms if you are just playing with chips that you didn't really bought.
Also, players there are just greedy because they are not even frightened to lose anything.

I played some online before but I didn't really win the top ranks but there is still gifts for lower ranks.
Forgot the name of the platform though.

For OP: If I were you, I would start with just low stakes. Somehow you will still feel the fear of losing.
Go for tournaments for cheaper entry fees.

You can try to download Texas Zynga Poker, it is an android/apple application that you can play on your mobile phone anytime you want. It is free and you can actually practice playing including your strategy and you might discover how to deal with other players since this is online that you can literally play with a real person.
^ Definitely right, there are too many free apps to download from google playstore and that is free to learn poker. There are also a lot of platforms that you can choose to have tutorials and practice playing poker. I started learning poker through youtube to get the basic idea including the rules. Through, the app that you may download for free can help you as well to get a bit of strategy or techniques as you play along with others online but no bitcoins involved because live games can teach you s lot as experience will always be the best teacher.
Nevertheless, you probably need to read this article I have found. https://www.pokerupdate.com/articles/lifestyle/6141-4-ways-learn-poker.

There are more to test in order to learn poker if you are willing to install browser extension of the chrome you can try it also. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/free-texas-holdem-poker/hpefcbpnjnanfacddfaaommfheilhkdb

Installing all for learning. I haven't tried this myself but I guess the 20K users who downloaded it had rated it good.

I don't really understand poker, but I think Youtube is currently the best platform for someone who wants proficient in playing poker. videos and explanations from the video makers there are very good and many are also easy to understand.

I have been playing poker for the last couple of days, have lost a few mBTC within these days. I'm not an expert pokee player, I would like to practice it more. Is there any free way to do that? Any free platform you share would be a great benefit to me.

There are lots of Android games about playing Poker. One best example is, Zynga poker. You can consider playing with those for practice purposes.

But what you will practice is just purely about basics as strategies will be different once you are now in the actual table competing against a real human. But shouldn't be a problem as you said, you have lost a few bucks these days meaning you already know how to play but just want to maximize your strategy.

Watching youtube videos are indeed one of the best ways to learn up but somehow reading up on google search is also helpful but i would prefer video lessons  from basic to further advancement.

There were lots of places where we can practice out thats why we should read up first the theories so that we would really have the idea on what we are doing when we are on the actual play.

When it comes to strategy then we can copy some of it but most of the time this will vary on users experience and skills which would be molded along the way.

In my knowledge there are apps that you can install to play poker but you can only play with computer algorithm which is easily defeated. If you want more challenge and thrill you could try online poker that is literally everywhere even in facebook and also one quick search in google you can find tons of poker games.

I used to play a lot in facebook but I don't really trust my poker skills so I never used it on gambling since I always lose on facebook I decided that I wouldn't try risking real money on it.

PokerStars is still the best play on the internet to play poker. If you want to deposit crypto to it, just use Neteller for that. Deposit Crypto to Neteller and then you can deposit to Pokerstars by Neteller.

Too bad there isn't such big pokerroom yet for crypto. Of course there is SWC but that isn't that good yet as Pokerstars.

If you don't understand poker then shouldn't suggest where to play it. Yes, a lot of tutorials are found on YouTube but it's the practice and the main thing that op is looking for to try.
The application and actual experience to an actual app is more reliable just like the other suggests of downloading those poker apps on playstore which can be played even without real money.

The best place to practice your poker strategies is zynga poker.
This platform is a poker simulator - as you don't need to deposit any money in order to be able to play and there are so many people playing around from pros to newbies.

to play poker you only need to download the application in the playstore then practice and play it.
if you feel confident, you can play on a site that uses money as a bet, because it will be more difficult to play if you use money.
Your emotions and thoughts will be trained, it's not just about luck, believe there is more to it.

maybe online poker depend on luck more than your ability because you cant see or feel your oponent anyway   . apps like poker are only built for fun only so i dont think we can get an idea with them and carry them to the real poker gambling   .

It's still has something to do with the luck, of course. But it is more on how you will deliver the cards you received from the dealer, in short, your skill to deal with different situations and your decision making.
Online poker is really different because you don't have any clue whether your opponents are just bluffing. The intense feeling is also not in there where you can't deliver your intimidation.

There are probably offline ones people can download and play on their laptops or mobile phones. I think those are usually between you and computer, or you could use game pads with your peer.
This should be one of the easiest to practice. It would be better if you practice with a good tutorial on youtube/internet.

I have tried many of those apps people mentioned above like Zynga poker etc but why not practice poker with a proper poker platform, not an app, with real crypto? Sportsbet poker has 4/5 freerolls every day, and a big freeroll every week. I believe Bit-Exo also has some. And if you see on these platforms they all have freerolls all the time. Best way to practice!

You can basically download Texas Holdem Poker in Google Play Store and App Store, which you can play and learn more about poker without having huge losses and risk in playing because it is an online casino game without using real money. You can simply learn playing strategies in playing poker by watching tutorial videos in YouTube, there a lot of resources nowadays in the internet, so make yourself resourceful.

Don't just give up mate.
Youtube and other free platforms could give you some knowledge but it was different when there is money involved in the table coz your emotions, worries will surely affect the way you play. Giving you to that free platform where you can make some plays, you feel the ease even though you've to lose (for fake money) will give you no worries at all because you have nothing to lose.
And to tell you, you can learn more and test yourself when you are in the actual scenario. If you can make out from that and conquer fears, maybe have that guts to win. But still, luck is mostly what we need in gambling.

You'll find plenty of plebs who go all-in pre-flop in free games, but this is relatively rare in a staked game.

If you're playing online, best thing to do is get your hands on a good HUD. Pretty much every player is using one, and you'll be at a huge disadvantage if you don't have one.

If you're playing at home, go to as many home games as you can to learn the ropes. Once you're confident, then you can start playing low stakes tables.

If you want to practice, then use those online sites where you gamble with virtual (and has no value) currencies. I am pretty much sure there are gaming websites out there that offer poker and is also free to play. If you can't find an online game, I pretty much sure there are games that you can play with the bots. Maybe do a quick google search?
You can also try those casinos that offer free table. I have seen casinos providing hourly tables that gives like certain amount of chips to play with for free.

You are right that few hours is enough to understand the basic rule of the game but since it is a pvp based game where we are playing against many type of players, few hours is not enough if he want to jump into real game with money.
Understanding the basic rule only is not enough to play poker, someone need more experiences first before jump into the real one unless he is ready to lose some money for practicing in real games.
My opinion the best steps are as follow:
- understanding the basic rule by reading and/or watching videos.
- playing free poker app or freeroll tournament (it should be done regularly) until we feel that we are ready to go next step.
- playing real game with low stake
- next will be up to us...:) whether will continue to bigger stake or stay on low stake.

Sometimes I manage to practice playing poker in Texas HoldEm in mobile phone because there is a digital money that you can use there. I play them when I'm bored and I want to play poker because I enjoy playing it as it gives me realistic feeling of playing. My opponents are also player from any part of the world and it is really good to have an opponent that I can play with. It is not that good to play poker when your opponent are only AI or CPU. I play it in my phone and it is very handy, you just need to connect in your internet or Wifi just like playing online gambling casino that includes real money or cryptocurrency. But here in Texas Holdem, you can play it only with virtual money but still only you need to take it seriously and practice.

If you have never played poker before and would like to learn more about this topic, I will give you several different suggestions. My first suggestion would be Youtube and similar video platforms. You can learn about the game by watching videos on such platforms. You can also review the articles written about playing poker as another suggestion and get information about the game. Another option may be to learn by chatting with someone who knows how to play poker and to practice by playing with this person. You can also learn to play with various popular games instead of trying to learn the game for real money. Just like everything else, I recommend not to play real games without having enough experience in gambling.

Exactly what some say about learning how to play a betting game without staking something valuable. I guess learning/betting regularly with very amount of money will be enough to learn how to play through experience.

Practicing directly will cost you money though. It is good though because if you have something to lose while you play poker, you will do your best not to lose a dollar.

But there are poker browser extension that you can install which has play money to train yourself, there is no risk for it so you may still enjoy while you train to learn poker.

When gambling with play money you do not concentrate fully on the game because you are not afraid to lose. They do not worth anything and you can all-in every time, and create new account to refill if you lose. Gambling with play money decreases skill and feeling of losing disappears.

There are many platforms for poker practice but the most effective way to learn is to watch videos on YouTube. YouTube helps us learn in every job  It is normal to be afraid of losing but if we practice properly then our knowledge will increase and we will know the ways to win  You can also find a lot of information by searching on Google.

Few good poker threads here on forum, good side is that you can join conversations and ask questions, you will get some answers and help.  Be sure to check this topic
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5236603.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5236603.0). I believe you will find some interesting stuff in this topic.

I will say just one thing, playing poker for free, playing poker for couple dollars, and play for serious money (for some it's 1000 or 10000000 dollars) is not the same. Tournament poker is one thing, cash is other. Free buy in is one thing, free is other. If you really wish to learn how to play you need to try all of them, watch and observe how people play their cards, learn how to read others. In poker many hands don't get to showdown (some statistic I know is more than 80% of all hands), so you will have to learn how to play with good and with bad cards.

There are many poker websites, poker joints, poker apps and poker software out there that we can use to practice poker. I do have two best in my list and is of course the popular poker websites such as Pokerstars and America's Cardroom. My reason why this is the - for me - the best practice websites is basically the traffic and the user friendliness of these websites. Also if you are a beginner poker player, it has an easy interface that could make one easily comfortable with the controls.

But then again if you have it my way, I just ask my friends and colleagues for a Sunday poker practice at home. But right now it is not possible.

I have been playing poker for the last couple of days, have lost a few mBTC within these days. I'm not an expert pokee player, I would like to practice it more. Is there any free way to do that? Any free platform you share would be a great benefit to me.
I think https://blockchain.poker/ from Coin Dance is really interesting for beginners IMO because it gives you free satoshis to be able to play. And if you lose all your stake, it gives you free satoshis to play again.
