Title: Stay in waves or convert them to ethereum?
Post by: Em00n01 on May 02, 2020, 11:04:39 PM
I bought a good number of Waves coin a couple of years ago. By watching many development news and update I thought it will contest with Eth in future. But i am now frustrated.

I bought each waves at BTC0.00135 and current price is BTC0.00012+

Should i stay in waves or convert them to ethereum?

Waves is lack of volatility and I guess even if this project release a big update and it gives nothing to the price. It's better for you to convert your waves to the ethereum as there was a chance to get the hype but becareful with the dump that caused by people will sell after the halving of bitcoin end.

You mentioned a good number of Waves, I recommend to convert only half of it if you need to convert, Waves already reached $5 in their all-time high, there's a possibility that it could happen again but in terms of profit, Ethereum has a good chance for huge profit than Waves.

Waves is a shitcoin and seems like the OP was fooled to buy their team and their promises. :-\

Ethereum is no less a shitcoin but I guess its better to hold that unless you want to buy bitcoin. However at the price you quote, it seems it is now 10% of its buying price. So selling your lot at this price means getting back 10% of your buying amount only. If you are happy with that and want to finally let go then its your choice. If you ask me, I would rather bring in more capital for buying bitcoin or ether, taking your case on point. There is always hope for a bullrun in future and altcoins to rise where you could be able to sell those waves at break even prices.

If I were you I would have called have converted it to ethreum when the market was in a big dip. Waves has lost it's momentum and believers unlike two years ago when it was seen to be one of contestants with ETH   i would prefer to remain in ETH than in waves.

You might've lost slightly from the bitcoin rates but if you break even in terms of fiat value then convert it. Or if you're that desperate to make the switch while at a slight loss
that's for you to decide. Imo I don't see any bad decision from staying or switching since you could possible get those back from ethereum as it follows the trend of Bitcoin. If you stay on waves it could still recover temporarily since the prices have been up and down recently.

I wished you converted in 2018 around January to March or just take your profit, waves all time high was 18$ and now it's trading at 1$, to see that kind of surge again depends entirely on Bitcoin movement in future, though ethereum is better than waves, sorry for your loss

Waves is a good coin (as good as a shitcoin can become) with a very shity promotion department.

While there are (were) complete shits like bitconnect and bcash around, I'd say promotion is usually more important than usefulness.

That's where ethereum shines. It has a public figure like Vitalik who talks a lot and keeps the attention on eth. (That may become a disadvantage easily if Vito gets covid19 and dies)

I probably wouldn't touch any of those but If I had to choose one I would choose eth.

I have my bias and will tell you to have Ethereum. But it's you, if there's nothing left anymore and you are doubting that Waves will recover even close to the bought price, sell it and just go with Ethereum.
But, if you think that there's more left for Waves and it can go back a bit, hold it then.

Can you remember your excuse before you bought the coin?

What makes you interested when bought waves?

These question is required to be answered before you compete waves and ethereum.

Remember when you made something then you need to make an evaluation by yourself, it doesn't matter you got lose or you got profit. Don't ask the user here because it will have different cases.

I think the obvious choice is to jump to Ethereum. As much as you'd think that at one point waves will pump, but the past and current performances indicate that waves will die out relatively soon, just like hundreds of dead projects. It's not that it is scam, but just that not all projects make the cut to the top position. Same as in startup projects. 95% of them fail even with all the efforts. So I guess just move on and be involved in Ethereum and Bitcoin. Safest bets in crypto IMO.

Waves are not that good coin anymore for hold a long time! You may convert it in Ethereum or in ChainLink! As you realized, holding Waves is not giving you good profits, but Ethereum has much potential. Once I just loved the Waves network and had great hope on it. But I moved on about a year ago and now I have more profit than before. Sometimes you have to forget the past to go forward, old Waves is not the same as now!

Waves were the altcoins of a period that were seen as huge potential. But he never made the big bang expected.

ETH 2.0 is expected to be announced soon in Ethereum. It is expected that the total amount of ETH may be restricted or the amount of ETH to be distributed annually will be limited to a certain amount.

When we evaluate it in this way, I think that ETH may be a more rational investment.

Do you also have statistic of the price you bought it in fiat value and the year you bough it. 0.00135 each I guess  you bought it way back 2017 or early that's the last time I see the price of waves go in  that price.

In terms of development I didn't  expect much in waves, even those project with ICO and IEO right now never use waves platform. So how this coin will have the demand they needed to increase its price if no one use the platform.

This happened when Sasha Ivanov announced partnership with Vostok and promissed to run an airdrop to each waves holder. Yes, the airdrop was made, but it was also mentioned that Vostok will be supported with Russian government (this never happened and was never confirmed). Plus waves founder sold part of his waves holding when the price was high. I think this could be called as betrayal.

I guess seeing that ATH makes some people believe it was worth holding, i knew waves long ago and it is not as fast as other coin interns of price movement, too slow in my opinion, selling now will mean losing some amount, waves don't have so much enthusiast as eth and other coins does, so to me i would say sell and buy btc to recover, halving is fast approaching you never know how price will react.

You should have cut your losses when you are down like 20-30% of its value and now, with the state of it, it is better to forget about it for a while and wait until it bounces back, 3 years ago, I also thought that waves can be the next ETH but it seems like the development didn't continue, this is just my insight since I don't see any results from them.

Why do you blame team waves? Do you see that they are not working and are not trying to do better? because until now Waves tokens are still eligible to be categorized as good tokens, although they often experience price declines.

If you convert waves to ethereum, you can get lost in the value of your money. Besides that, I think you will get a little amount of ethereum if you convert it now because ethereum price now is increasing. Maybe you can hold your waves for more because I think waves can rise higher too as the other coin. But that can be up to you, and we can only give a suggestion to you.

Wave was touted as arguably one of the coin to watch out for few years ago but up till date wave has been crumbling and the frustrating part of it is that the dev team behind the project are not really active but rather passive. No one could really predict what we happen in the future or maybe wave could end up like dogecoin. For me it is better you convert it to other worthy coin

IMO, Waves is a failed project. It was being touted as an alternative to Ethereum, and now it is clear that this objective was not achieved. The exchange rate, as well as the trade volumes have been going down for more than two years now. And in the world of altcoins, when a coin goes down continuously for that long, it can mean only one thing.

These platform both are smart contract type of blockchain project. If I were to invest actually I prefer bitcoin but when it comes to altcoins choices ethereum would be the best choice. Firstly, the eth network is the top 2 coin with a huge marketcap and they have a lots of upcoming event on their platform now. Which includes migration to PoS blockchain. I like it more than waves, I dont like its style and eth is very friendly users and Im nott the only one who noticed this. For sure many will agree that eth is a better choice if you are going to invest on altcoins.

I dont hear any heavy development on waves and I even thought that their project is dead already. Just an advise go for eth all the way if you are into altcoins. Your money will not go to waste.

because you have bought at the ATH price, so instead of exchanging for ETH that may not necessarily produce.
it's good the current action is good is to buy if there is more money instead of exchanging what you already have.

In russian speaking community Waves are having not so good reputation. Currently it having really strong scam accusations connected with the stablecoins WUSD and WEUR. That fisrt was dumped on Waves DEX and then delisted from there. And one more stable coin https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/coinousd/  that was dumped on Waves. And there is many information how these stable coins connected with Waves.

So as member of russian speaking community I advise you to invest in something else :)

If I we're you it was better to invest on ethereum rather than waves, waves nowadays is like a shitcoin unlike ethereum that will be having a ethereum 2.0 besides you can stake when it was released but I think there was a minimum you can stake but still profitable.

This reminds me of those that invested in many projects whose team claims they will overtake Ethereum blockchain etc. It's sad you are in such loss but don't be frustrated there is always a way; I can only but suggest you sell off half of it or maybe sell 70-80% to ETH because from the look of things I can hardly remember the last time waves had a huge update which will likely cause it to grow. Ethereum on the other hand proves to be better and you might gain something good sooner than later now the market is encouraging.

do not be frustrated, although Waves prices are now experiencing a decline in the price of the BTC pair, but the pair for USD the price of 1 waves is already above $ 1, it is good for waves, just waiting for the price increase for the BTC pair then the waves will increase, hopefully it will happen

If you have hope inside to recover your loss then you may consider to hold your waves instead of selling them remember that waves is not dead you can see it's still available to trade on some notable exchanges with decent volume and successfully maintain its rank between top 100 altcoins and the most important thing the waves platform is getting improve which is positive sign as well.

I think right now is not the best time to dump all your WAVES since the project still has great future prospects. In my opinion, you should rather convert at least 50% to BTC since what's trending now is bitcoin halving. Don't be surprised that a big push up for BTC will further depreciate satoshi value even for top altcoins. The decision is yours to make at the end.

Wave was promised many things. And I think they did many of it. Anyone can create and develop a coin in wave platform. But somehow they are stuck. And they don't get any kind of exceptence from the crypto world. Now they don't look promising, atleast for me. It other hand ethereum is one of the most used and popular platform based token. And day by day the community and the path of the eth are growing. At this moment I would prefer eth over waves.
Both of them are good and somehow trusted by a large number of people. If you think you want to switch that is fine go with it. But always do some research and make the decision on your own. And never empty a bag fully. You never know what comes next.

Wasn't it premined? As far as I know there were no miners in Waves. As you see that was a disadvantage. Eth was premined too btw to an extent. (Vitalik has like %10 so he says)

Premined projects usually die fast because life is too short to get rich.  8)

This might be a tough decision on your side mostly because of the losses incurred from holding. Waves used to be a good blockchain with good flexibility but don't really know what happened that caused them to be on the decline since. To be on the safer side, not that waves is totally bad, I would say keep half of the waves and sell or convert the other to Ethereum.

It needs more information before you let go your assets chances are still there since the nature of this industries are volatile you need to assess your decision making, if you are unsure best to keep your waves and review and research everything under the development progress of this asses when you are finally convinced that there's no future ahead then that will be the best time to change your plan.

Waves don’t seem to be good for long-term hold. At one time it seemed like it would do well but now it looks like it’s another shitcoin. I also bought a good amount of waves at last year and luckily made some profit and sold it at that time. Since Bitcoin is trending up now, it seems that the altcoin market may recover well in the coming days. If all altcoin pump, there is a chance that the waves will also pump. So since you have been holding for so long, you can try holding it for a few more days. Now everything depends on you what you want to do.

How much money you invested, the loss is heavy and as TheUltraElite suggested it is better to hold till the next rally and hopefully some of the alt coins will increase during that time, the only solution is to reduce the loss, the net profit even if you convert to ETH is not that huge as you cannot expect a huge rally in ETH alone and hence it is better to hold the coin.

According to your statement it seems you already in huge loss but my opinion will be not for sale at this moment. Doesn't matter you buy ETH or other crypto you still in loss. So i will recommend to you at least hold those waves end of this month cause who knows upcoming halving will bring some profit for your waves, then sell your waves for ETH or other crypto you like.

I bought a good number of Waves coin a couple of years ago. By watching many development news and update I thought it will contest with Eth in future. But i am now frustrated.

I bought each waves at BTC0.00135 and current price is BTC0.00012+

Should i stay in waves or convert them to ethereum?
It was then sorry to tell you that Waves never get such a good market perspective at this time. Waves coin is popular in the past years but the market has changed and people/investors are not interested anymore that brings this coin being ignored. Holding it without a gaining market is just a waste of time, better to give up and diversify it into another altcoin or BTC. There you have a chance to recover your losses and bring back your money. There is a need to sacrifice and that is for a good reason that is why we don't need to worry about it.

Not only you, couple of years ago many people thought that may be waves will be the 2nd Ethereum. But their bad management dump this project.

Same here. If he will sell now, that's a huge loss. Just wait after this upcoming halving and maybe waves will increase its price from its current value. He is already in big loss, so wait for few more weeks will not hurt. I think there is problem with waves marketing as they are still active in terms of development, yet, they can't gain a lot of traders on their new exchange.

I was seriously involve in wave trading and usage of the wave platform but after the project retk my portfolio, I sold off and have never open my wave wallet platform for close to a year now or more than. I rather stick with ethereum. Ethereum has the highest number of DAPP developers using the network as compared to other smart contract project.

It is better to invest in ETH than wave because ETH has the tendency to increase in price and realised more profit while most of the time wave depend on ETH to rise in price .
each person will certainly be different, Ethereum and Waves are the same as a platform, and of course Ethereum is better, but don't underestimate waves, waves are very good in the development of the project, and have already seen, especially with the ROI that has not gone up, the potential for investment in Waves will be better than ETH
waves is a good project but it is not so much better than ethereum. Waves do not have such a large community and their technical development lower than in ETH. maybe waves can bring a big profit to investors, but it will not be number one among altcoins
Are you saying waves is a good project? good for what? too much BS that has already created by waves. If you are an old supporter and then you remember the history of coinomat and none of scam accusations from coinomat investors have already solved by this platform. So many people have lost their money caused by coinomat.

If I remember correctly, even when bitcoin was trading near its low prices like below $5000 levels by late 2018, waves managed to climb over 0.0011 BTC from 0.0003/0.0004 levels due one one positive news about their development. This is simply showing how much community support waves is having.

It seems you have managed to hold waves all its hard time and it may bounce back at any time hence continuing your holding must be the right decision you could make. Honestly I am also holding lots of waves and I am leasing them out with in my wallet which makes some penny on day today basis. I guess we can go for leasing with any small number of waves too (hope you are already doing it ;)).

There are still some development going on within the waves community but IMO it's already a failed project. The platform focused on simplicity while leaving behind the basic infrastructure to provide for the token. It tried to compete with a small function of Ethereum and it's limitation made it a limited used service.

Base on the price data that you shared, you're already losing big so what's the difference if you sell it now, are you still hoping that the waves price will return to its previous ATH, The decision still yours if you want to sell your waves so that you can buy Ethereum why not, otherwise it is a good coin other than Bitcoin. Wave's team is not doing a good marketing strategy the platform was too silent nowadays.

Waves is a good project, in terms of strength, it was able to survive to keep at least the price not far away from its ICO price, however, compared to ethereum, I guess ethereum is more superior and considering they will launch that ETH 2.0 this year, buying them now will be a great preparation for the possible upcoming big pump.

i stay in waves or convert them to ethereum?
For me, yes.
If you bought it a couple of years ago, you are already holding it for too long. It only means that you haven't seen any opportunities to sell it on your expected price. Waves is a good project but compared to ethereum, I think ethereum is much better. Converting your waves to ethereum is a wise decision.

But this is only my thoughts, the final decision will still be yours.

That will depend on what pair he wants to sell. If he sells in waves pair bitcoin, I don't think that he will make a profit in bitcoin. But if he sells in waves pair ethereum, maybe he can get a nice amount of ethereum, especially if he can sell at the high price. If I check on the waves pair ethereum, the waves price is going to go up, so maybe he can sell it with ethereum pair.

You should convert from waves to ethereum because of the way the said ethereum has been moving from positive moments. I sis my conversion some time when I bought some Tron for a.long-term but when I discovered that, the market get weakened under Tron cryptocurrency I decided to convert  my portfolios from Tron to Bitcoin and I had reason to celebrate move. Ethereum is the future as the price is going good, so, your decision is worth giving a try as it favours me before.

I, like you, bought a few Waves coins a few years ago. At that time, after hearing about the many improvements to the Waves platform, I thought it would spread Ethereum in the future and compete with Bitcoin later. But in reality that did not happen. So I'm currently frustrated with Waves Coin. I think it would be better to convert it to Ethereum or Bitcoin without waiting.

the market waves are not so bad. indeed if we look at the values of waves are still too far from ethereum. but when looking at trading charts it's not so bad. even ethereum doesn't have a good graph right now. if you can have both when you understand the character of this coin movement, we can focus on both.
