Title: [Charity Auction] -Australia Charity Auction #2 -Random Lots
Post by: ChiBitCTy on May 03, 2020, 09:55:27 AM
Australia wildfires charity auction #2.  I meant to have this up and running some time ago, but had a few constraints.  That said- Lets do some more good!  I wanted to first thank everyone who donated to these lots including BitcoinPenny, Chronicsky, and several members wishing to remain anonymous (likely 1 or 2 more lots to come too).

While the fires there may have all died off, there is still much work to be done helping save and rescue local wildlife.  Covid-19 has also caused extra hardships there, so our support is still greatly needed and then some!  - 100% of donation sales go to: https://www.wires.org.au/

Lot 6-

- 4 AGI singularity (DIY) coins with 8 holo stickers
- 1 Clay Cast proto Monero bar (not yet finished or funded)

  https://i.imgur.com/O5q5K0dl.jpg   https://i.imgur.com/WpZpunbl.jpg

The proto Monero bar is made of an alloy called bronze alluminium (copper, aluminium and bit nickel or zinc)
It should be high in strength and corrosion resistance (which would be ideal), but think I did something wrong mixing it
It's tough, really tough, but not that corrosion resistant...
It's been sandblasted, but not stamped (it's really tough)
About the funding: Not yet sure, not that familiar with Monero. Planning to make a series of .999 silver end of this year with this model
If we are to fund it, it would be with a symbolic amount (so don't count on any Monero on the bar)
The winner can decide if the bar should get an ultrasonic cleansing and some protective polishing to get a goldish hue, or leave it to turn black

Thanks everyone for the bids so far! I know I’m forgetting someone who wanted to donate something to the last raffle and I told them I’d save it for this one. My short term memory is sometimes cloudy so if this is you plz shoot me a DM if still wanting to donate. My apologies on being disorganized!

Hi,

Hope it's okay if I post this here as an extra lot (think it's midnight in Australia and have a busy evening myself).
I believe I upped our lot in the first auction with an AGI coin (feels like a decade in the past), which the winner of that lot kindfully declined (to save for the next auction):

Would like to contribute:

- 4 AGI singularity (DIY) coins with 8 holo stickers
- 1 Clay Cast proto Monero bar (not yet finished or funded)

It isn't much, but hope this adds something

Regards,

Clay

P.s. shipping is on me, but will be standard with track and trace (from the Netherlands), so you might have to wait up to 50 days.
Expedited can save days or weeks, but seems not every time.

Bump- only a few days left to help do some good for the horrific tragedies that struck Australia.  I will be adding a couple items to these lots in a few hours to spruce things up a bit ( or try to anyhow), so be on the lookout for those.

Thanks to CCC for the extra lot 6!  Will be updating the OP with this info.  Sorry I've been a bit buy the past few days!

Lot 1- .0025BTC

Two days left to go! All lots are definitely undervalued at these current prices!  I added an item to lot 3.  It's a LED "Bitcoin Accepted Here " stand sign.  It's really hard to take a decent picture of , hence me leaving it so large of an image, and I did a poor job cleaning it ( can be wiped down further to look much nicer ).  Let's do a little more good for the animals of Australia !

It’s not “his” auction. He just organized it with donated items from across the community. All of the proceeds go to charity so it’s not like him bidding is a bad thing especially for all of the time he has put in to organize both auctions.

As rxalts stated, some of these lots are donations from other members. Normally bidding on your own lots would definitely be a shady ass move ... That’s simply showing everyone you’re not happy with the price and are essentially shill bidding openly. Lot 1 is a donation from another member.  (Technically I could even bid on my own lots/items and I’m not sure it would be a big deal. This is all going to charity and I will be showing proof it does. So that would just mean I’m not happy what it’s selling for and forcing bidders to bid up if they want it. Since I’m not pocketing any money, actually just the opposite, not really a big deal. However that’s still kinda iffy and odd so I’d not go down that road).

lol nah I was looking it simply as um, hes bidding to buy something he already has? um why not just keep it and keep the money? lol I totally missed that these were donated items - very cool for the community to do! I am new to the collectibles pages so still getting the feel for it!

No worries, all good!

Yeah, the community here is pretty fucking awesome! Two years ago we held two auctions to help save the honey bees & this is the second auction for Australian wildlife ravaged by the fires.  We raised significant amounts for both causes .. All thanks to the amazing community here.

Sniping: Each bid will extend the auctions an additional 15mns until the final bid is made. If forum is down during the last 6 hours of the auctions end, one day will be added on to the ending time.

I can count 40 bids in total in this auction. Hence, if my math is correct, this auction should be extended by 600 more minutes (unless a new bid is made in-between)  ;D

unless you made an honour mistake, and you meant that any bid made in the last 15 minutes of the auction, will extend the auction end time by 15 more minutes

Yes, I believe that is what he meant.... and not to extend it by 10 hours :P

if this correct, then the question is, which of the last minute's bids are valid (or not). The extension time should be granted per lot or per the whole auction?

Edit: my intention is not to spoil this auction (particularly since it is for a good cause). so please, do not take me wrong here...

Title: Re: [Charity Auction] -Australia Charity Auction #2 -Random Lots
Post by: geophphreigh on May 10, 2020, 05:03:09 PM
My interpretation of the no sniping rule - 15 min extension - is a per lot extension from time of last valid bid. So any lot with a bid in the last 15 minutes extends the auction end time 15 minutes from the time of the bid. If no bids in the last 15 minutes of the auction, it ends at time stated in OP (ie. lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Lot 1 had a bid at 11:48:08 EST, and this lot would now end at 12:03:08 EST. All other lots ended at 12:00:00. No other bids were placed before 12:03:08, the next attempt being at 12:14:00 EST for lot 1, which is invalid. The extension is from the last valid bid time, not the auction end time is my understanding.

as said this is a charity auction, and it is not in my intention to spoil it. I leave it up to ChiBitCTy to do the decisions.

hence last word from me.

It is stated in the auction OP, that "will extend the auctions an additional 15mns " , NOT that will extend the auction by 15 minutes

(edit: meaning that the auction has a specific end time/deadline for accepting bids, & "will extend the auctions an additional 15mns " i.e add 15 more minutes to the auction end time)

From my short time here, I believe this is the most common practice in 9/10 auctions. However, I have also seen it once or twice where all lots were extended regardless of if only a single lot was actively being sniped.

Ohh fuck I’m an idiot ...I am running around at the moment and completely forgot about sniping. Will update everything in about an hour when on PC. My bad y’all !!

( don’t worry anyone, fairness will ensue. This isn’t a Denarium Auction )

Edit : If we need to extend auction we will. I promise everyone will be happy in the end. I feel like an ass. I haven’t read everything completely...Checking out of store now.  Maybe we extend it an extra day ? Would that be an issue ? Sorry guys !!

Would there be issue running it one more day from the orig end time ( auction ends Monday May 11th at 1pm Est) ? I don't know how else to rectify since the timing is now off and not fair to just add an hour or two. I will be adding extras to all winners lots, for starters.

Anyone have issue with this?  This is for charity after all ( not excusing my ignorance ). I will make this right one way or another.  Thx guys and sorry again.

Playing Satoshi's Advocate over here: you're adding a bonus to all lots and this is for charity. Would be criminal to vote against this  :)

Thx everyone for being cool w/this.  Will make it up to everyone regardless if you win or not.

I will say that I am frustrated that an additional day was added to this auction. No doubt that all who wanted to bid and missed the end are upset, but that is how an auction works, there is a set end time. I watched the end of the auction and no one outbid me, but now it is not honored. Furthermore, a day was added before I was able to weigh in on the auction and I won 5/6 of the lots, which doesn't seem fair, as most would be happy to keep bidding since they lost.

I understand this is for charity, but this auction was up for 7 days, plenty of time for people to see and set reminders of end time. I guess I won't cause too much fuss as this is for charity, and I recognize that. I am frustrated as there were a few items I was genuinely excited to have won. How am I to ever know if an auction will be arbitrarily extended after the fact in the future?

I made an error and did my best to rectify it. I was running around and thought I had talked to all parties. It’s been a hectic day.  I apologize , and could not be more embarrassed by my error.  I will provide you all lots you would have won and it’s completely on me ( not the ones here , Will source outside auction). Does this work for you ? Again, my apologies.

What a headache
Technically Geo did win the lots as stated per rules fair and square. I was on mobile shopping when this all went down and was thinking I made the error calling it too soon based on how others were upset about sniping rules ( I used same format/template as last charity auction and forgot what they even were sniping wise). I was rushing and not thinking straight and on mobile so it was all just a mess while I’m trying to pick out what to get for dinner.

Geo has been kind enough to work out something with me so the auction continues and all parties are happy in the end and we raise more for charity.  I just wanted to clarify this because I said I fd up but didn’t. I thought my rules were laid out clearly but I guess not to everyone. So, I don’t want anyone walking away feeling slighted. Geo, thanks bud. My apologies to all for a this mess. So all continues as planned but was important I lay this all out for everyone’s sake.

Moral of the story I’m still an idiot.  :-[

Thank you ChiBitCTy. I realize that you are not out to get anyone and this is for a good cause after all.

To be transparent, this is what we discussed via PM:
1. ChiBitCTy will keep the auction open for an additional day with updated/clarified rules and all lots unchanged.
2. I will honor all my existing bids in the auction (ie. not retract any existing valid bids already placed).
3. I did not bid for freebies, so in leu of receiving all the lots for free, I have offered to honor my total bid price from the auction (lots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6), 0.029BTC, in exchange for an item(s) of aprox. value yet TBD. This payment will be in addition to any lot(s) that I win (if I win) at the conclusion of the auction extension. This should increase total donated and prevent ChiBitCTy from having to create duplicate lots for free.

Hopefully this will allow everyone to bid, will increase donations to a good cause, and will not wreck anyone financially for donating duplicate lots. I hope this is an acceptable compromise for the collectable community!

when shit happens wrong - whether intentional or not - there will never be a clear way to make all parties happy. I have been on the end of this several times already in my very short time period here in collectibles - I commend you on making it right with geo and with everyone else as well.

dont lose heart in all of this - and keep up the excellent work you do here.

thank you geophphreigh, that was a nice bidding "fight" at the end.

I would like to congratulate all the participants in this auction (since it was for a good cause).

Congrats to the rest of the winners, to ChiBitCTy for hosting the auction & to all the donors offering the lots.

Thanks bud I appreciate that. But, trust me I won’t.  Ive done a good job over the years being a dumbass at times and will be again.  Make sure everyone’s happy in the end and life goes on. I can sleep w/that.

Apologies and thanks again to Geo. Happy to put this one in the books.

Payments can be sent here - (Feel free to wait until I can provide shipping costs which will likely be in the next 2-3 days).
Please reach out to me via PM with tx and shipping info.

I will of course provide charity payment proof in the next few days.  Thanks again everyone! Some really fucking cute koalas 🐨  and kangaroos 🦘 thank you all !

Despite running a real shit show of an auction, we were able to raise a good bit more that will be put to extremely valuable use by Wires.  https://imgur.com/Aw1xpJs

Thank you again everyone, it means a lot to me that you've helped me with this great cause! Cheers
