Just to enlighten it a bit I think most of this historical fun facts can still be found here especially on Meta there are many good threads you'll find there about those facts, just optimize the use of search feature. To shred a light there's a thread here about the number 9 fact, it's worth a read.

You can read more about it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5221882.0

Thanks for sharing that kind of information, I enjoyed reading this thread, it is interesting to know more about facts about bitcoin, it was new for me so I will visit the link you had shared. There are many things that I don't know about bitcoin so I would like to visit some websites that are recommended by some people here in this forum.

Reading this kind of information is such a good thing because we will be more familiar with nature and what is happening before bitcoin. I had read something related to this thread before and that was interesting to read as well, hoping that we will have more trivia and fun facts about bitcoin someday.

6. The Disappearance of Bitcoins is actually connected with CIA when a person named Gavin actually went and complained about him. - creepy -
You meant the disappearance of Satoshi right? And where did you get the information that Gavin complained about Satoshi/Bitcoin? lol. The article didn't say anything about complaining.

11. The first transaction for Bitcoins was made for PIZZA !
The first transaction was with Satoshi and Hal Finney if my memory serves me right. The pizza transaction was just the first documented real life purchase using bitcoin.

Haaa. Thank for sharing some fact. I have very funny when read it in my home in quarantine. I also have a fun fact: satoshi is a group, not only one
Any sources to back that up?

and you just have to watch advertisement for 30 seconds and the faucet will give you about .0009 bitcoin and then afterwards bitcoin got into a bullrun and I had checked the amount around 2018 I guess and it was Like, The f.

If anyone wanted to familiarised themselves specially on what @mk4 have said, you can go and read it here, Gavin will visit the CIA (https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=6652.0).

And yes, the very first bitcoin transaction is between Hal Finney and Satoshi himself, you may want to see the transaction,

Hello everyone I hope everyone is staying at home , today I stumbled across an article about Bitcoins and 3. The maximum number of Bitcoins is not actually 21 millions but actually 20.99 something.
actually there is no such thing as "maximum number of bitcoins" to be a hard coded number. it is all math that will result it cap being no more than 21 million. that math is the block reward starting from 50 and halving each 210,000 blocks.

Quote
4. A smaller unit than Satoshi is in use now called msat!
smaller than 1 Satoshi has no meaning in Bitcoin protocol. on other chains (side, second layer,...) they can do whatever they want and that won't change a thing.

Quote
7. The first Faucets actually gave 5 BTC ! *5* to each visitor ( why did I not know of this before 😭)
you could just turn your computer on and start mining bitcoin to get 50BTC to mine a single block!

Quote
8. It is only used 10% for the crime thing ! ONLY 10% !
wrong because you don't have any proof on how you came up with that percentage.

Quote
9. There are around 70 forks related to Bitcoins.
wrong, there are only a handful of "bitcoin forks" they include forks such as BIP16 (enable pay to script hash), BIP34 (block height in coinbase), BIP65 and BIP112 (2 new OP codes), BIP141 (SegWit).
what you think are "forks" are actually shitcoins that copied bitcoin. they can't be called bitcoin forks.

Quote
11. The first transaction for Bitcoins was made for PIZZA !
wrong. the first bitcoin transaction is a coinbase transaction of the first block.
the first non-coinbase transaction is Satoshi sending coins to Hal Finney.
the first publicly known purchase done with bitcoin is the Pizza thing.

Quote
12. Lightning network can hold millions of transactions per second! ( Trust me that's good )
technically there is no limit on how many transactions can occur on LN.

I hope you are not one of those people who have regretted a lot not buying Bitcoin at $500, and then not buying at $1,000, and then not buying again at $3,000, and then at $5,000, and so on and so forth.

Bitcoin had actually heard their sighs and regrets, and it descended from ~$20,000 all the way down to ~$3,000 to seemingly give these people another chance. Alas! Many of them are the earliest to declare Bitcoin dead. Others have learned nothing from their regrets and lost chances. Others have remained having weak hands. And they didn't buy again. And, yes, regretted once again.

Man, your biggest regret is yet to unfold if you haven't cast your doubt on Bitcoin until now. Look at the price right now, it's still cheap at $8,500. You can buy Sats if you wish. Remember that we have yet to reach 1/10th of the peak of global Bitcoin adoption.

11. The first transaction for Bitcoins was made for PIZZA !
The first transaction was with Satoshi and Hal Finney if my memory serves me right. The pizza transaction was just the first documented real life purchase using bitcoin.

This is what I also remembered.

1. Apparently people in the community are using Honey badger as the unofficial mascot of Bitcoins .

I've seen this in the past and thought that this is just a group but it isn't.

I don't understand why Honey Badger though, guess I will be reading some articles about that.

7. The first Faucets actually gave 5 BTC ! *5* to each visitor ( why did I not know of this before )

This is the reason why I am here.

My co-worker in the past told me about it and they said that faucets are giving 5 BTC, then I rushed home to check and it is not true since I am years late to it.

12. Lightning network can hold millions of transactions per second! ( Trust me that's good )
technically there is no limit on how many transactions can occur on LN.

I think this is the best part here.

Faucets were giving 5 BTC back then, but who would have thought that Bitcoin might hit 20K USD several years later.I'm sure that all the early adopters that discovered Bitcoin and started mining BTC on their PC back in 2010-2011 were thinking something like "one Bitcoin might cost a few bucks after several years". ;D
Lots of fun facts in your list, but I don't think that Lightning Network is something good for Bitcoin.
Like everything else in life,LN has pros and cons. The pros might be more, but many BTC fans might still refuse to use LN because it's centralized, which means that a possible scam might happen some day.

Sure LN is less secure and less decentralized. But take note that you do not transfer huge amounts of money in the first place. LN is here only to be the sort of "coffee transaction" payments, where you really don't need maximum security, and you mostly just need speed.

2. Apparently in 2010 due to a bug 184 billion BTC were produced 😂 , don't be so happy guys this error is already erased .

I'm pretty sure that the bitcoin's price that time is really low because of a huge amount of supplies. But we're thankful about that being erased because we will suffer on that price if they don't do something about that. 184 billion BTC is so much huge compared to the 21 million supply these days.

7. The first Faucets actually gave 5 BTC ! *5* to each visitor ( why did I not know of this before 😭)

People will abused the faucets if they still 5 btc nowadays, faucets right now are abused by other people how can they stop themselves if they are really doing that.

11. The first transaction for Bitcoins was made for PIZZA !(first time when it was used as a Currency)

It's really amazing to know this fact about ordering a pizza using a cryptocurrency bitcoin. First ever transaction with bitcoin is really weird but memorable, this thing made a way for the adoption and promotion of bitcoin in a community. After that, I'm pretty sure that people also tried to use bitcoin in their transactions not only in ordering pizza.

12. Lightning network can hold millions of transactions per second! ( Trust me that's good )

That's good in using bitcoin, it doesn't cause any data traffic if there are massive volume of people who are accessing it simultaneously. Plus, it is good and less hassle compared to other transaction like using fiat for payment. Bitcoin can really a good material for payment method in may transactions.

The first bitcoin faucet creator Gavin Anderson claimed Craig wright is the Satoshi Nakamoto once.

I thought Gavin would have claimed him (Craig) as the mascot. I guess that's a bold claim but I think Gavin has already cleared it and just searching for it was it was way back 2016, I just stumbled upon this article: https://www.ccn.com/gavin-andersen-craig-wright-blog-mistake/.

Thanks for this list!
I did not know #1 and, to be honest, I've never noticed anyone with such a mascot. So I'm not sure it's a thing. Especially since there's been a Bitcointalk Art contest recently and while I did not look through all the artworks, I've seen quite a lot of them and none had this animal there.
I also did not know some other things you've mentioned, but some of them don't sound accurate, to be honest (just like #1). And the Pizza transaction definitely wasn't the first one, it was just the one that got very famous.

So many fun facts especially this one. No one would have thought BTC would have value. The pizza guy started off by exchanging his BTC for pizza now, here we are.
Although some would have sold their 5 BTC way back before the ATH.

Ah. A really really common statement from people who just knew about Gavin Andresen's bitcoin faucet.

Let's be real here. If you've been collecting a lot of coins from that faucet, chances are, you, and a lot of people including me, would've sold once it became worth something(in USD). Bitcoin was simply still very experimental back then that it's going to be pretty hard to be bullish in the long term. :P

The above historical information about bitcoin is really interesting. Here I want to mark the point 13. All the discussion about bitcoin are being possible because of increasing huge volume of transaction. Bitcoin has already grabbed the top position of the crypto world. It has occupied a greater part of the world's digital transaction. It is expected that countries of the world will allow bitcoin for all types of transaction like fiat money in near future. Then we will read more fun facts about bitcoin in website, books, paper and magazine etc.

14. Bitcoin is only used about 10% for crime according to the DEA
This fact must be known to more people. We know that bitcoin is a high-risk investment, and is often avoided because it has the potential to be used as a crime tool. As with any object that exists in this world, the good and bad of these objects depends on the subject or user. Similarly, bitcoin and other cryptos can be very useful if used properly and can be a tool of a crime if the user is a criminal who wants to take advantage of this. Unfortunately, the news is often made hyperbole, making a negative stigma that bitcoin is dangerous, often used for illegal transactions, darknet, drugs, etc.
Quote
According to the Cyber Investigative Task Force, an inter-agency collaboration involving the DEA, FBI, and ATF, 90% or more of Bitcoin volume is entirely unrelated to drug purchases.

Satoshi Nakamoto is the inventor of bitcoin.
Nakamoto published a paper in 2008 that first described the currency, and released the first version of a bitcoin software client in 2009. But “Satoshi Nakamoto” is a pseudonym, and to this day no one knows who he or she is. The last anyone has heard from them was in 2011, and various sleuths have tried to uncover their identity (unsuccessfully) ever since.

4. A smaller unit than Satoshi is in use now called msat!
Where uses smaller unit than satoshi is being used and by whom? Any reference link for this? Honestly I have been into thoughts about making satoshi as the base unit which also lead me to think about having other units to denote values lesser than one satoshi. But, surprisingly you have mentioned about what was in my mind for years. If your time permits, please share here any reference link for msatt unit. I am just looking for it to enlighten me more on this regard.

Edit:
msat seems a new innovation after lightening network's revolution.
Just with google search, I find this bitcoin wiki page which has a mention about msat: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units

Any way, thanks a lot for sharing these fun facts about bitcoins; even most of them were old and already aware of, it is good to recall them.

Probably yes. Faucet sites were definetely one of the funniest things connected with Bitcoin. What a waist of time and efforts for almost nothing and so many people were involved clicking like crazy. Some even really thought they can make some real Bitcoins.

True, I spent almost a year claiming free BTC in faucets and ended up in a scam. It's definitely a waste of time and effort claiming those free BTC that should be spent on other things.

Even the cloud mining sites that literally give free BTC, it's also a scam and some are just ponzi.

So if ever there's a friend of mine wasting time here, I always warned them it might be a scam and suggesting to go trading.

The first Faucets actually gave 5 BTC ! *5* to each visitor ( why did I not know of this before 😭)
I can remember that when I got into Bitcoin, as a newbie I was able to raise $15 from faucets after months of hard work and Bitcoin was around $250 as at the time I had this $15. But I sold the $15 and quit Bitcoin after something happened, and I was kind of discouraged. By the time I got back, a friend told me that the price was already at $2,000 dollars! :o Damn!

I have really missed a lot in this market and it annoys me a lot whenever I remember what I have missed sometimes. And imagine I was able to claim 5 BTC from faucets lol :D ;D that means if I hold them till now, because I know for sure it wouldn't be one that I would have claimed.

It seems the earlier we got into bitcoin, the chances for being more richer if we have opted not to spend all those bitcoins. 5BTC for faucet claim is something, I still could not digest. I mean, to be rich now I would have mined bitcoins by 2010 but just if I would have tried BTC faucets alone more than enough, it seems.

I really enjoyed reading this thread. It is really interesting since. This is something that is often forgotten, which is a little more than appropriate when speaking of Ghost Bitcoins. You see, a significant number of Bitcoins that have been mined and given to users are now inaccessible, either because the keys to the wallets they are store in have been lost, or the wallets themselves have been lost.

Definitely some cool facts here! I had no idea that we have already at this point come to over 70 forks.  I am guessing these are all hard forks correct, I don't believe there have been any soft forks to this point anyhow ?

7. The first Faucets actually gave 5 BTC ! *5* to each visitor ( why did I not know of this before 😭)
Wow, but in what year this faucet? Of course, if it is today's faucet, the person will be really rich directly because of that much money. However, we do not know where it was in what year. probably in that year, the price of BTC was still very small. So the value of 5 BTC is not hat much converted to the fiat at that time. It is likely what happens to the Pizza bought by Bitcoin.

The other fun fact that I always find is about:
Many people think that they will become rich overnight by Bitcoin, although they are new without much money as funds, they will be rich. this is fun I think because they only think about the profits.

The 5 Bitcoins were only worth a few cents at that time and the faucet was created because the interest was very limited at that time. One must also take into account the situation was much different compared to today. If you had got the 5 Bitcoins back then, you very likely would not have kept them until 2020 (unless you forgot them). Most people have already dumped many Bitcoins from the early days at the first highs of $50-60. I remember this time because I was a part of it  8)

What is funny is that the facts that have been listed have occurred, but they will be lies in its time, people did not believe that the price might reach all these levels, which may reach more than $ 10,000 a few years ago.
facets and bitcoin pizza give that amount with  millions of dollars ROI to those who wanted to keep and invest them for long periods.
The mistake that led to the production of millions of bitcoin was fixed by creating a network cleavage hardfork, and any mistake that could be made if society agreed in the whole world not to use it.

Did you now that the first ever Bitcoin transaction was the purchase of 2 pizzas, with 10,000 bitcoin by Hanyecz on May 22nd, 2010, a situation that will most likely be an, “had I known” case, owing to the current value of one bitcoin. Today, this transaction is tagged as the most expensive food order in history.

And also the founder of bitcoin named Satoshi Naka Moto when translated into japanese means :

Satoshi: clear-thinking, quick-witted, wise
Naka: inside, or relationship
Moto: the foundation

hope you like it :))))

What I remember most is that more than half of the bitcoins mined to date are owned by 1,000 people. It's hard to believe, but it is.
And one more case, it seems, he wasn't mentioned here. A resident of Great Britain accidentally threw away a hard drive with a wallet, which contained 7.5 thousand bitcoins. This is very disappointing.

Wow. This is so nice of you to have compiled this fun facts list.
It is shocking to know that first faucets give 5BTC, the faucets I participated in then only give about 10 satoshis per hour. It is only funny that those who participated in the '5BTC' faucets would have most likely sold them as soon as they got quite a number of them because its value as at them. Obviously, its value is very low then as compared to now.
I'll go check out the remaining facts. It's so amazing

Nice facts indeed, I was aware of some of it while the others are good to learn, thanks :)
Those are some great facts, i enjoy the reading... I didn't know the first faucets were up to 5 btc, that's crazy, with the current price that would be like $50k, epic right?
I heard there was some faucet in the past giving few BTC per claim but at that time 5 BTC were like few cents so it wasn't a big deal but now it hurts!

I have known Bitcoin for a long time and there are many interesting facts that I have never heard, very informative topics.
After reading the article in the opening post, it slightly changed my view of Bitcoin, what surprised me the most was that
the first faucets gave 5 BTC. But if I had known from the start I might not be interested in collecting Bitcoin. Because no one
expected the price of Bitcoin to be up to $ 19,000.

Yep it's because Bitcoin before is really cheap and no one believes Bitcoin will become successful or become expensive just like now.

Just for the information of everyone,
here is the 5 free bitcoins for visitor before (Get 5 free bitcoins from freebitcoins.appspot.com (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=183.0)
It is created on June 2010, extremely early age for Bitcoin. And I am surprised it is found and first announced here in the forum by Gavin Andresen, one of the famous early contributors on Bitcoin.

this is actually a list of great facts, if we manage to know bitcoin when the thing was not famous like this time, we would have been the richiest person at this world. i mean 5 btc for every claim on a single faucet is fucking insane. the amount compared to now is really disgusting and it is not even worth it today because of ads and the delay between each claim

Every man's gotta eat. Because of faucet abusers, that's why we're seeing tons of ads and redirects. Also with the fierce competitions elsewhere, gaining standing out from the rest poses a challenge.

I could get 5 free bitcoins doing nothing?! It makes me sad now. I wish new faucets were so profitable.

A great, entertaining read! Some of these fun facts are actually quite interesting and good to remember like how only 10% are actually involved in crime and my favourite; how Bitcoin values achieved higher transactions compared to PayPal. To me this is impressive and it highlights how the infrastructure is key and how there's no rival to it to this day; all of it goes to show that blockchain based transactions can be much faster and efficient than any other alternative.

This is really a good and satisfying facts. As I read every single details, it makes me have a much wider understanding towards bitcoin.

I already read some of them before when I'm seeking information about bitcoin when I'm just starting to invest to it a few years ago.

I'm still rooting for more knowledge and history about this bitcoin so that I can somehow understand how successful this bitcoin is.

12. Lightning network can hold millions of transactions per second! ( Trust me that's good )

I wonder when will it be fully developed so that we can use these tools in full mode. Lightning network has been the talk since it has been introduced but they are taking so long to fix some bugs and some downside. Although we can use it lightning network at some point, we don't have some market that accepts this kind of method of paying. what we need is to implement this as soon as possible for super fast and smooth transactions.

I really love Lightning Network. That is one of the reasons I use Bitcoin most of the time. Nowadays, speed is a very important thing for people. We are living in the technology era. People can't stand waiting too long for making a transaction.

In the past, bitcoin prices were not as high as they are today. Bitcoin used to look like an ordinary coin that only cost a few dollars. 5 BTC back then meant nothing. There are even people who buy pizza for 10,000 BTC. it is the original history of bitcoin that was not valuable in the past, but is more valuable than gold in the present.

There is no evidence to your claim that Gavin told the US gov anything negative about satoshi ( I don't know why you call him Bitcoins in the OP ).  The more likelihood is that Satoshi, being the genius he/she/they are...is that it was an exit planned form day 1.  It surely could have sped it up, but that's part of Satoshis genius...no central head what so ever.  The fact that he's still anonymous is incredible and lends to bitcoins dominance and bright future.

Also, you can't say LN can hold millions of transactions per second until it actually does.  Maybe there is a Mr Robot in here who could correct me if I'm wrong, but testnets are just a gauge, never to be taken as fact. Until the code is actually put to the real world test...it's conjecture.

These are some super amazing facts. I actually haven't heard of many of them until now. I especially thank you for this and I hope you would do more.
This is especially good for newbies who don't really understand what bitcoin is and the many untold stories behind it. Many don't care to know why bitcoin was made. All they care about is just how they can make money from it.
I'm sure this would stir up curiosity in so many people that they'll begin to want to know more about bitcoin and how it works
