Title: Best mining setup from home POST halving#3
Post by: btc4peace on May 10, 2020, 01:37:27 PM
I am interesting in becoming a miner.  With the halving, what would be a good setup / dream setup for a simple at home operation?

Thanks in advance!

You didn't write what you want to mine? I guess you mean Bitcoin, but if you don't have a fairly large initial investment and extremely cheap electricity, forget about that venture. There may be a possible profit in mining some altcoin, but it is always a time game where you can always lose in the eternal scheme of pumps/dumps. Maybe it's best to ask in Mining board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0).

Its not  that there are no simple methods.
If it were to be years back you can have it simple as simple as even mining bitcoin with your phone.
But now mining is in a way a competition between miners those with sophisticated tools still compete with each other, now imagine your chances using a simple tool or operation.

If you want to mine Bitcoin be ready to buy a asic miner but for other coins like ethereum you will need a desktop computer and a graphics card, how powerful the GPU is depends on your budget

This thread should be in the mining section there are a lot of experts miners more than willing to help you mine post halving, but if you are looking to mine with your laptop yes with your laptop on a coin that is already in the market, better check idena , you can mine it on laptop or a VPS

Assuming you want to mine bitcoins (because this is a Bitcoin forum and the upcoming halving), ... A simple at-home operation would be an ASIC in shed away from the home and neighbors (because of the noise) with adequate power and ventilation.

You need to provide a lot more than that so we can help you in a better way but as a former miner, try to start with the most profitable miner/miners that you can afford but don't forget about other things that other users have commented as well [e.g. Noise, installation costs, cost of electricity and a lot of other things]...

  • You can take a look at "Mining Hardware [bottom part] (https://whattomine.com/coins/1-btc-sha-256?hr=28000.0&p=1600)" section of the following link and choose one of the miners based on your calculations.
