You’ve got to look long term, stop looking to make small scalps & small profits. We’ve just seen the supply of new coins mined HALVED again. You can make serious gains doing absolutely NOTHING. Sit still & HODL for another 18 months & you’ll make a lot more money than you will messing around making risky trades for 10% profits.

agree on this one, i think the same, halving need time to prove that supply is decreased and with the same demand, price should go up, and with the price increase, and eventual media coverage, new people will get in for profit, demand will rise again, and price will go up, until the circle is broken and we go down or sideways to new halving, it was a cyclic after first two halvings, will see if the will repeat, do not take this as investment advise

Basing your trading decisions on a single tweet from a famous person is beyond stupid. Even if you believe that there's a connection between public interest and Bitcoin's price, you would want to measure it with multiple sources of big data and not something as tiny as a single tweet. And the result that you get should wildly contradict the other analysis methods - just think logically, we had halvening a few days ago and the market is still only recovering from the covid-19 crash, it's nowhere near a FOMO cycle.

Perhaps it is good to hear that J.K. Rowling is interested in bitcoin. But it doesn't mean, that you need to short it right now. The whole economics of bitcoin is very different, and as we witnessed it being halved in the last couple of days, it makes it very rare, so it will be very valuable overtime. So it is better to HODL to our precious BTC and just wait for the eventually bull run. No need to short it at this time just because of a simple tweet.

It is not really true in general. J.K. Rowling was tagged by someone and she responded in the tweet what bitcoin is all about which she has no idea. I think this is not about showing interest.

Shorting just because a big name has been Tweeting about Bitcoin is a really bad idea.

In the first place, it's not like J.K. Rowling was posting bullish Tweets. She says she doesn't understand it, but at the same time somewhat biased against it. Probably be a good idea to stop giving her attention on Twitter.

Bitcoin is facing a huge resistance at 9800 level this is the second time in this month that it has struggled to stay there. I am still happy that it has not take a huge dive considering the halving has finished.

That is great to hear that JK Rowling is interested in knowing more about Bitcoin. It is certain that she might write about it in the future. Good to hear about it.

I don't consider a ~$400 downward movement in Bitcoin a big hit. That is just part of a pretty normal Bitcoin day. And I also don't share that the $10,000 rejection is a clear sign that the bears are back. If at all, it was just a normal rejection. It seems to me that nothing's so special about the price movements of Bitcoin for the past few days.

How does J.K. Rowling's interest in Bitcoin support a decision to short? Why not long? The woman is worth 700 million. ;)

J.K Rowling is a weird person. However,it would be nice if she invested a few millions in Bitcoin.
All the Harry Potter fans might follow her and invest small amounts. It would be nice for the overall image of Bitcoin as a trustworthy(yet volatile and risky) investment and not some scam or get-rich-quick-scheme,like it is portrayed by the FUDsters.
Saying that bears are back in town after a 3% price drop is just amateurish, but she is a newbie,so I would expect something like that from her. ;D

many popular personality are involved in btc before but man this is still overwhelming because the guy is famous for his creations  . now him being involved on btc is something that can give impact to the btc markets   .

what he does here is something like a promotion ( a free promotion rather )  .  it is really the time to buy and start hodling btc because i suspect that the price can skyrocket  later on .

How does that even work? Any (and I mean any) personality's statement that influenced the markets by saying they're interested/invested in BTC turned the little pump into nothing more but a following dump. Bitcoin doesn't rise/fall depending on what a celebrity says about it. If the entire Hollywood would pop up right now and say Bitcoin is crap, it'd change nothing in my perspective.

Lots of people are still stuck into the stage where they're waiting for that "we need more exchanges" "hey guys binance just listed us!!" shitcoin kind of news. Price is not about exchanges and celebrities. It's much, much more than that. Look at what McAfee's words have done to the markets back when he literally created his own immense pump&dump community and you'd see what I mean. Useless pumps like these only do damage - no good.

A 5% decrease of the price is not a big hit, in my opinion. This is just a typical fluctuation for Bitcoin. As for Rowling, I've looked at her Twitter posts, and I'd say it's more of a curiosity on her side, rather than interest in purchasing some. I've absolutely loved her books as a child, but in the tweets she keeps saying she can't understand what Bitcoin is, as if it's truly impossible to grasp a basic idea of it. Surely, fully understanding it is not for everyone, but it's not that hard to learn how it works or why people use it. In any case, there're quite a lot of tweets about Bitcoin on her profile followed by 14.6 million people, so it's a big free advertisement.

She may be trolling, but still I think it's a good demonstration of how detached from real world the crypto people have become. They live every day surrounded by buzzwords like "decentralization" and "blockchain" and expect that people who can't even install Windows would understand what they are talking about. And they don't understand that regular people don't care about banks, inflation (as long as it's not out of hands), regulations, etc.

She's either trolling, heavily biased against Bitcoin(which is most likely the case imo based on her replies), or just plain-old ignorant. Let's not forget the past controversy whereas she called the famous YouTuber PewDiePie a fascist, while completely being ignorant on what the context actually is on PewDiePie's videos.

The interest in bitcoin is actually ever growing. The price rise isn't only because of J.K Rowling showing a little interest in Bitcoin over Twitter. I am pretty much sure she was just curious and then she will forget about everything, like most other "celebrities" that talks about bitcoins and then you never hear them saying a single word about it ever again.
Why don't you just hold your coins for long term. Stop trying to make quick profits. You might end up making more loss.

She’s a fiat billionaire, I couldn’t care less if she has negative opinions about BTC. She hasn’t got any great need or passion to make more money. She should have part of her wealth in BTC but she won’t because she’s complacent. I hope she enjoys the massive negative interest rates fiat banks will give her during the incoming recession.

Bitcoin user not affected.

And here is @jk_rowling tweet and this happens every day so I don't want to take it too seriously.

Famous people like JK Rowling have started to be interested in bitcoin. This is very good news, because if true JK Rowling invests
in bitcoin it can be a good promotion for bitcoin. And what's interesting when JK Rowling asked for an explanation of bitcoin on twitter,
which gives an explanation of Vitalik Buterin who is the creator of ethereum. Then regarding the price of bitcoin which is now falling in price,
no need to worry. I'm sure this is just a correction, it won't be long until the bitcoin price will rise again.

She said she doesn't understands it rather than not liking it. You can't like or dislike bitcoin. You can either use it or don't. The more merchants accepts and deals with bitcoin and the more financial services accepts bitcoin deposits, more would be the adoption. There are things to be improved in bitcoin as well. If they are improved, people would keep using it, if they don't something else would replace it.

There are a lot of people who are a fan of his books and probably his recognition about bitcoin will be a great help for us to promote bitcoin more. Hopefully she continue her interest and curiosity about bitcoin so that it will become more realistic about our desire which is the mass adoption. She will be the way to increase and develop our mass adoption in bitcoin because many people will support her in her endeavor as they see their idol using bitcoin this will be the opportunity for us. This halving will really have a big factor in the bitcoin's price and mass adoption everything in cryptocurrency is connected so we have no idea what will happen next.

On Nov 5 , 2018 Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted about the Bitcoins , she was trying to spread awareness teaching people the basics.
Hugh Laurie apparently brought Bitcoins and made it public.
The funniest thing is about Mike Tyson , who not only invests in the Bitcoins but also have ATM's with his signature face tattoo.
See there are numerous celebrities out their vouching for cryptocurrencies and Bitcoins .
What we need to do is hope that their fans understand that it is not scam , wonder or not but many people do label cryptocurrencies as scam , even right now I have seen people come up and ask me about it.
Celebrities being open about the Bitcoins is the first step , with time it will only increase the members of the community.

Having patience is the key. I don't really check all these things about celebrities saying they are interested or whatever, I just simply have this faith that Bitcoin will grow and the other cryptocurrency markets will grow with it. Even if she doesn't say she's interested in Bitcoin, there are already a lot of people that are aware of Bitcoin and a lot of them keep joining every day.

The Halving has taken place, I know some people will be rushing now and buying out of FOMO, which is not right. It's always best to have plans for a long term and then you can invest and have patience till when you have planned to hold. I guess with an upcoming rally, bitcoin can easily break the big barrier of $10,000 levels and you can expect prices to hold above $10k levels here after forever.

Oh, really? I hate BSV and I'm saying that from the bottom of my heart! BitConnect - do you like it? Or is it just that you don't use it :D

I think this is a good news for us. If Bitcoin gets a lot of interest from media or celebrities, the people will know many benefit of Bitcoin and the crypto is grow up. Many new people come, the crypto will be a common
If someone rich is buying Bitcoin, I doubt they'll be buying clothes and other stuff from BTC-accepting merchants. They'd most likely only invest in a whale-sized wallet and dump it whenever the opportunity comes. I don't see a celebrity's interest in BTC an adoption/growth factor - I think the opposite actually has higher chances.

Soon enough we'll have JKR impersonators spamming those "giveaway" scams on twitter. It's a surprise that CWS still didn't show up in the comments, trying to sell his shitcoin to JKR. Or Justin Sun, that guy loves creating hype out of other celebrities.

I really can't see why this is important.
First of all, she said something rather undefined about Bitcoin and even if she has supported it openly that wouldn't change anything.
I think that people just care too much what public and famous persons say but in case of Bitcoin that doesn't have any relevance because in many cases they usualy say this for their own promotion and for Bitcoin community that doesn't make any significant difference.

I do not know why there are people who hyping their selves after seeing a post of a celebrities, billionaires or we can say famous person about bitcoin. It is normal to see that there are celebrities or famous people to become curious to bitcoin but it is not matter when a famous person become curious to it and it doesn't mean that the price will go up. It is better if we will focus to the price action rather than hyping ourselves on the post of some famous persons about bitcoin.

Not sure how somebody showing interest and placing a big spotlight on Bitcoin indicates it's time to short.

Wouldn't that mean that the market is more likely to pump? Unless of course the majority of the surrounding discussions were negative?

Seems like Elon Musk, CZ and a bunch of others chimed in too, and yet Bitcoin did in fact dip temporarily.

I doubt it had anything to do with JK though, probably more likely the fact that the Bitcoin.org domain is about to change hands—potentially indicating a hostile takeover is imminent.

It was an incredible uproar even Elon Musk and Justin Sun commented on J.K Rowling's tweet

the uproar created by J.K ROWLING will not have a major impact on the price of Bitcoin but this will attract attention and if things like this continue to be done by influential people, Bitcoin will become more strong

I am increasingly convinced that bitcoin will soon be used by all people in the world, because of its rapid development. Now this is bitcoin
has already reached the price of $ 9500, it will not be long before the price of $ 20k. So I'm not surprised more and more celebrities and
famous people like J.K ROWLING got interested and wanted to learn bitcoin. And I'm sure if they learned bitcoin, they definitely interested
investment in bitcoin, because bitcoin is profitable.

People JK Rowling needs to be educated about why Bitcoin is the best asset against hyperinflation that is currently taking place in USD. But im disappointed how crypto community explained what Bitcoin is, most of it are extremely complicated. Forgetting JK Rowling is just a newbie without any knowledge about our terminology. I guess my best answer is coming from Elon Musk.

I don't get why people interested in BTC like OP can still say such naive things like "bitcoin is taking a big hit"

The sky is falling! Bitcoin went down from 9800 to 9400 time to short and it doesn't matter that it was lower than 9400 just 5 days ago! Let's make a big thing out of it and keep saying that it's a big price hit because nobody will remember that this month we were trading for 8500 ;)

Any serious trader knows that an asset going from $9,800 to $9,400 is a bit hit. Perhaps if you only have $100 invested, you will not feel like it's a big hit but it is.

I think that it is just her personal opinion or nothing and also not trustable information. Because Bitcoin is in a bullish situation and there is every possibility to cross 10k very soon. If bitcoin price will decrease a little, then it can increase up very soon. So do not be affected yourself by this news.

I have more than 1 Bitcoin and it's not a serious hit. It's a joke.

Don't compare traditional assets with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a separate class, a first of its kind.

Normal assets don't go down by 70% one year to go up by 300% next year. For an investment that every year moves by at least 50% up or down 5% is nothing.

Why short?

Its been said that shes just trolling out the entire bitcoin community https://www.insider.com/jk-rowling-jokes-bitcoin-ethereum-elon-musk-twitter-2020-5
This woman do really take some advantage on her popularity and trying out to hype his eth holdings?
When it comes to sentiments like this, its always ideal not to easily believe or make immediate actions just because they up into something.

She trolled and everyone in the community got trolled. I doubt she has been holding Ethereum too. I guess she is trolling not just the Bitcoin community but the whole cryptocurrency community.

Recently there has been many instances where the community as a whole has been trolled by celebrities. We ca add her also on that list now.

https://www.coincurb.com/news/j-k-rowling-author-of-harry-potter-is-interested-in-bitcoin-time-to-short/

'Bitcoin is taking a big hit today, currently trading at $9,360 after briefly touching $9,800 in inter-day trading. Bears are back in town after the recent $10,000 rejection, however, the interest in Bitcoin seems to be growing.

Legendary author, J.K. Rowling, has recently shown her interest in Bitcoin over Twitter.'

I say J.K. Rowling has this huge influence over lots of fans from Harry Potter, and I am one of them. It is good of course, to see her interest because that would mean more fans from Harry Potter going to Bitcoin. But, this statement, does not prove or give jurisdiction on Bitcoin's profit today or this time of the year. We should still anticipate more earnings and market rise, considering Bitcoin had this downfall before. But overall, this could mean something and we are all anticipating more kinds of statements with higher profit and better revenue.
