I was randomly typing into google and whilst typing in bitcoin is ........., google prompted the next word/phrase. Above is the list that I was prompted - in no particular order .
I was wondering what other members got as the first auto fill / prompt from their internet browser ?
It would be interesting to see what comes out as the most common and also why ?

Mine is bitcoin is a form of money, which can be considered perfect result for the people searching for bitcoin for the first time. That won't be so frightening like "bitcoin is dead" or so technical like bitcoin is peer-to-peer electronic cash that has distributed decentralized system of nodes operating on the mathematical rules of code. Money is what people are always interested in. If people see that bitcoin is money, they start learning what money is in general. Then they start their journey into the cryptocurrency space. Adoption is spread.

Curious though, is the autofill function has something to do with my privacy? although I am not typing "bitcoin as form of money" or "not my safe word". In fact , I am not using Google.

Mine comes up as .. usd , probably as I’m always checking decimals of bitcoin against US dollars, ie , 0.003, 0.08 .

This is so funny :D I never search Bitcoin is dead/scam/fraud etc, usually I search "Bitcoin to USD" or "Bitcoin news". Oh man, no comment from me... because I trust and believe in Bitcoin.

I believe that that auto-fill doesn't necessarily come from your personal history but rather the aggregate data they got from various users. To put it simply, it shows what kind of keywords users using that search website use when they type the keywords. Which means they got your private search history too.

I don't know if I search for it from the past but somehow the very first suggestion was interesting and it's more of a technical side of a question as well and among the suggestion on the image one thing was only was really worthless, see it for yourself, by the way, I haven't searched for it. Google really has weird suggestions it could ever record.

that is the reason. every search engine has its own algorithm and the "most searched terms" so technically when you search the same thing on a different engine you should get a different result hence the different suggestions in auto fill when you used DockDockGo instead.

Bitcoin is awesome

I tried doing the same, I tried first Bitcoin and Bitcoin is with my browser search and I got Bitcointalk. So, I went on to google search  and entered Bitcoin is and got a very fantastic auto result which was bitcoin is a public permisionless blockchain.

That is the truth!

The topic/title could need a change.

If I use the browser auto-completion for bitcoin is I get all the time the same thing: bitcoinwisdom.io/markets/bitstamp/btcusd
On the other hand, if I open google.com web page (which I didn't do in years, I think, although I use google as main search engine), I get bitcoin usd.


PS. Now it's a lot better (at least I cannot complain :) )

It also depends on what you are searching mostly and what country you are.
I tried just bitcoin then put a space afterwards and this are the results.

Pretty strange results.It's weird that my auto fill results are different.I assume that Google tracks our search activities and changes the suggestions based on our previous searches,that are related to the topic.

There is something called autocomplete in Google search engine, and the whole thing is actually based on predictions when you type characters in search box. The way Google does this is explained in the following section :


So the reason we see different predictions is that we are in different locations and that those predictions adapt to our previous searches. In other words, big brother knows a lot more about you than you think. This is also show what people close to you location (maybe your country) search most when it comes to Bitcoin.

I try to write again in a different browser tab, the results should be the same


When I read this it was actually the Autocomplete Suggestion feature. Apart from Google, other websites also use this feature. The goal is, helping increase typing speed for physically challenged people, and to help them reduce the number of key presses on the keyboard to complete a word or sentence.

Just had a quick trip around the world via VPN. Nothing much different to what has already been posted above... although the first suggestion for 'bitcoin is' from Canada was 'bitcoin Islam' ???

I have seen some bad results with other members so I tried to be different by using another search engine.

Look at MSN, something is different from the way the AI provide results.
While Yahoo and Google almost have the same results with just synonyms and antonyms of the words fake and real. 

For me, Bitcoin is legal.

With me it auto-fills with the following; Legit, Legal, Dead, Real, USD, Going down and Crashing but what catches my attention the most is "dead" so I tried to click it and see what is it all about and I found out that it is about the Forbes article back in the 2019 and they are only trying to foresee what may happen in May 2020 halving. In fact, they just mentioned that it wouldn't be the end but had crashed down and it doesn't even give much information at all. One statement that was mentioned that I'm really certain and made me laugh is "Bitcoin is not dead but one day you will".

Mine's a bit on the negative side.

I must be secretly making hate searches in my sleep. I'm going to have to track my id down and have words with the goddamn thing. Or perhaps I'm blind to the truth it's urging upon me.

Interesting I got as Bitcoin is legal in India.. Almost all Indians  are happy because as it's legal in India. Good decision by the government. Wish that Bitcoin ATMs will be installed and accept bitcoin all over.

I've tried doing this in Chrome, and the prompts were quite unexpected, especially the first one. And #3 being "dead" wasn't quite nice. Duckduckgo results were more neutral. I'm attaching the screenshots here:

Another interesting thing is mobile autofill, but I'm quite sure that it takes into account not only what others type but what the person using the phone usually types. So the phrase I got by choosing one of 3 words each time after writing 'Bitcoin is' was the following: "Bitcoin is the best way to get the chance to look good". Not bad prompting, eh?

On Google I've got:

- the future,

- common sense,
- legal in India,
- dead.

So, mostly positive stuff that a person could see the first time searching for Bitcoin. I wonder why 'dead' pops up that often though.
Oh, and I just noticed that the first fill is converting to the local currency, didn't see that before.

I immediately had a redirect to the Wikipedia site. Where can I read about it. This is probably the best option, because a person who is not familiar with him, has the opportunity to figure it out on his own, without any pressure, or stories about good / bad Bitcoin.

You know what? I was surprised to the auto fill suggestions in google. Here what i got:

Seems like bitcoin isn't a peer to peer electronic system anymore. Lol

The results you get with me are the same and because the location and discussion we use is the same. Displays the most popular Suggestions and searches now. there are some negative search keywords that are still pupular in Indonesia, namely
Bitcoin is Money game,
Bitcoin is gambling,
Bitcoin is haram,
Bitcoin is fraud.

And these keywords are always written by people who don't understand and don't understand bitcoin technology.

So search suggestions based on geographic location and language used, popular keywords most often, and search history from users. That is proof, the above factors are the main factors in giving suggestions in our browser. That results in similarities, is there different in one location?

When I typed in the sentence 'Bitcoin is…' in my Google search, ten recommendations came up and here are how they were lined up from the first to the last:

• Bitcoin is the future (this has been trending for long, wow)
• Bitcoin is how much (I am not surprised to see this one, because it's like a normal question everyone would ask)
• Bitcoin is how much now (same as the second)
• Bitcoin is used for what (yes, I was also expecting something like this to come up)
• bitcoin is lamqa ( I don't really know what that means, guess I will have to research about it)
• Bitcoin is all about what (same thing with the other one I mentioned)
• Bitcoin is rising again (I also expected this one after what has happened recently)
• Bitcoin Israel (I'm quite curious as to why this one showed, I will be going now to look into it and know if anything about Bitcoin happened in Israel).

For me, bitcoin is a perfect and successful cryptocurrency made by a successful person which is Satoshi, bitcoin helps us to our daily lives in terms of financial, it helps us also to make a good investment and good trading experiences compared to fiat currency, as we all know cryptocurrency is better than that currency in terms of investment and trading.

It also helps us to have a taster and secured transactions, there are some online transactions that accept bitcoin as payment which is I really like when paying bills, hotel reservation, etc.
That's true, it's a result of other people who are teaching about what bitcoin is, they gather all those data and they make it a hint or suggestion in the search list.

One of the result pop up on my search engine are

• Bitcoin is legal
• Bitcoin issues
• Bitcoin is dead

Those are the common things and problems we are having right now let's start with the bitcoin is dead recently the market price of the bitcoin falls down because of this pandemic outbreak some of the investors pulling out their funds to use to support their selves or other people and many people losing their income because of this unexpected market movement but now we are slowly recovering. Next is the bitcoin issues that are commonly happening because of the platform using the bitcoin-like slowly sending and transferring of funds and another kind of problems we are seeing if we have transactions. Lastly is the bitcoin is legal many people are afraid about the use of the bitcoin because of the history of it and the movies we are watching about the use of the bitcoin in dark web or deep web which is true too and we can not deny this but still the bitcoin is legal in terms of adopting in a country because they will release some terms of regulations about it the bitcoin becomes illegal because of the hidden transactions on it

Obviously from what a lot of members have said there’s a lot of personal factors involved in what the browser suggests, eg, geography,previous search history etc . I’m feeling really positive though that the poll gives the most popular answer as - a network of nodes , definitely a positive rather than anything negative  :)

.... the main currency in the crypto world, they say it has some problems although it is influential; This means that it is the most used by many people, companies and businesses around the world and has innovative technology, becoming the preferred by most.


I don't know how this appeared but it was the first recommendation autofill prompted. I just copied and pasted it here.

I am sure that it has to do with geo-location preferences and perhaps it is a way to locate someone's country. I don't mind much about this, but if anyone wants complete anonymity better not passing information like that.

my guess is that autofill depends on the most search word by people in related to btc . your poll shows term that i think not popular  but its okay because you still add others   .

 i havent do this yet but my guess was the words legit/scam will possibly show up first because i believe that people are searching this term too   .  people still doubts if btc is legit or a scam  but of course its legit as long as you control your own coins  .

In my country, most of my countrymen are searching if Bitcoin is legal. Maybe it is because of the number of scams that already happened here.

There is no problem in the first 5 auto fill but the bottom 5. Many are still searching if Bitcoin is dead or going down or is it real etc. :D. Many are still thinking twice when it comes to Bitcoin.

I tried use brave browser. It seems to be different from the names here, which are from the same country as me. I think google suggestion given me same. But maybe this depends on the history I searched for about bitcoin.

My first 3 suggestions were:
1. bitcoin is well suited to fending off hackers
2. bitcoin USD
3. bitcoin is going to zero

That's interesting for sure. People in my area must be scared of being hacked or losing their coins.

According to my google search, I found:

- what
- a ponzi scheme

I'm surprised why there are many bad sides of Bitcoin on the result, ex: dead, worthless, and ponzi. Will it be caused by many people spreading FUDs? Or because I've been reading too many articles describing bad sides of Bitcoin on some sites. However, I'm lucky that the first result is "the future". I think it is a great word to describe what will happen to Bitcoin in the coming years.  ;)

Additionally, they think that bitcoin is easy money or some like an investment scheme that will make you rich easily. Most of the people in the Philippines think like that about Bitcoin.

We also the same google search suggestion. I think it is different per country or on your IP address using, that's we have the same result but in the other people, it's different.

On Google, I get this as the first option, which seems ... pretty cool but strange. Second, on Google, is "Bitcoin is dead".  ::)

Third: "bitcoin is a __ network of nodes" - this one was already mentioned, is this part of some kind of exam? (I think "peer to peer" would be the answer). This also is one of the top options at Bing.

Well the rest of the English options in my case are pretty boring. The Spanish top 10, too. In German, an interesting one is at position 7: "Bitcoin ist klinisch tot" -> "Bitcoin is clinically dead".  :o (Here I found the reason (https://www.sueddeutsche.de/digital/bitcoin-kryptowaehrungen-tot-kommentar-1.4235485). An (extremely hostely) article of a German newspaper from ... December 2018.

That is also my search suggestion. It seems that Google has it predetermined or at least it can change according to the increase in the number of searches and vary. I don't know the correct reason.
However, Bitcoin to me is a cryptocurrency or digital money.

Bitcoin is a good thing to do is to predict when the price of bitcoin is not yet certain in the world of crypto and as a crypto user you have to follow this otherwise the whole process will be very confusing and we will see a big rise in the Cryptocurrency marketplace for the people to be able to see a rise in the Cryptocurrency marketplace for the people to be able to see a rise in the Cryptocurrency of the world of cryptocurrencies.

Mine was "Bitcoin is legal". In our country, it is legal though I don't know why it is the suggested keyword in there. The next autofill suggested is "Bitcoin is legit" followed by "Bitcoin is dead" and "Bitcoin is safe".

 It showed legit followed by legal. Well, I am sure bitcoin is legit because I myself can prove how many times I gained from it. Though others are still in doubt about the legitimacy of bitcoin especially in our place.
 When it comes to legality, it is still legal in our country and open for any bitcoin and other crypto related actions.

In my autofill search result it was 'Bitcoin is dead' at the first place in the search results. I highly doubt that bitcoin is dead, there were a lot of competitors of bitcoin after the launch of bitcoin and many of those projects were also having better features than bitcoin, but with time everything become clear and still bitcoin is the best of all cryptocurrencies. The next result was "bitcoin is legal" followed by 'Bitcoin is anonymous' and everyone knows that bitcoin is anonymous and it is legal in many countries.

I am using the latest version of chrome and often do lots of research and studies on bitcoin so my cookies are full of bitcoin-related things. "bitcoin usd" was the first one for me then "worth it" etc.
I am using google to do my search.  The legality and other issues are not even on the list.  :)

What a coincidence, we got the same results :D. But if I include all in the dropdown list, I also found "bitcoin is dead" and "bitcoin is down". It seems that Google is wrong at that point lol.

How funny to think that many people claim that bitcoin is dead blah blah just because we're in bearish days. But this false prophecies are debunked by the reality so many times already. As we can see, btcoin keeps soaring high as time goes by. That's why I feel pity on those nonbelievers, they're missing a lot of opportunities on defending their belief.

are you also using google chrome? since our autofill is almost identical(image below) it seems that pooya87 is correct. the algorithm shows in auto-fill the most searched term in google chrome.

while most of the users got a result "bitcoin is legit " you here got "bitcoin is dead " as first result  . lol thats funny ,other terms that shown up to you are also negative  like "bitcoin is ponzi ,  bitcoin is worthless " . seriously ? many people search that terms when we are already in the bitcoin age or digital currency age  . where are those people living and it looks like they are outdated  or maybe those people already have a bad history on digital currencies or cryptos

Yes, it is a funny thing to have people search for these words after the spread of bitcoin widely in the world, but don't forget Google shows you the results according to your geographical location and I live in a poor country, there is not much interest in bitcoin and people are afraid of it, so they are looking for such things.

Let me try it but I think I should use a different search engine because I believe google already track your searches so it can affect your future searchers as well. So I used Duckduckgo search engine and upon filling up the bitcoin, I have given options such as:

Bitcoin price
Bitcoin wallet
Bitcoin ticker
Bitcoin halving
Bitcoin mining
Bitcoin stock
Bitcoin news

I am already familiar with most of these terms, but I guess the bitcoin ticker is somehow new. What I've found out is an unfamiliar exchange that automatically updates over time. I guess this isn't new at all, I just wonder why this search engine shows this kind of information in line with higher umbrellas fitted for bitcoin.

Maybe this is a paid search result, the same with bing but it differs from Yandex. This means that we should not really care too much for a trend by just looking at what will appear next to bitcoin in search engines, perhaps, it is better to really search for specifics such as "bitcoin updates/trends" for us to find what we really want.

LOL I am getting different suggestions from the two most popular search engines. I guess every search engines have unique suggestions.

From yahoo first suggestion is "Bitcoin is a scam" Maybe on yahoo many users search for that particular word/sentence in my country,
since many investments scheme/ HYIP is popping out again ruining bitcoin image.
