Title: Bitcoin Basics : What are the actual use cases of Bitcoin ?
Post by: Thavash on June 08, 2020, 05:28:55 AM
As we enter a potential bull market ( especially if the stock market is about to go pop ), many people will start attacking Bitcoin saying that it has no use case. I made a short video explaining the basic use cases today ( with more to come in future of course ) : https://youtu.be/dI9OWNjociE

Apart from the obvious "Store of value" and "digital currency" , I delve deeper into trade , macroeconomics and the petro dollar as well. Basically , I think that Bitcoin will become the global reserve currency. Hope you like it.

Thanks for explaining the actual usecases properly.I think there is alot of use cases what are untold. In future it will be more valuable because of its usecases.

Here is a related topic where you will find all the best opinions about Bitcoin use cases:

Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1087326.0)

They can say all that they want to say about bitcoin and attack it as much as they want.

But they can't remove the fact that it's being used globally. The  wrong perspective about it before is being changed a little by little and is going on mainstream use just like cash.

21 minutes.
I hope there could be a shorter one.
It's more lovely for me if you can tackle everything even just using a short amount of time.
But, it is still cool that some of us put effort into making this kind of movement.

About the attacks, it won't stop. Better get used to that.

Probably rambled on too long at the beginning, for a video on Bitcoin basics. Other comments:

1. Probably best to qualify statements. "people say a lot" isn't true. Some personalities from traditional banking and finance have said so and so works a lot better. Give people points of reference =)
2. By slide 2, probably best to stick to Bitcoin and not other blockchain platforms... and just looking at the list you have, I already see a couple of missing things;) Talking about actual use cases!
3. Why the video? Who is the audience? I suspect newbies? Then you want to use language like "what can you use Bitcoin for" instead of "blockchain use cases". Less jargon more human speak is what's really useful;)

P.S. Could have sworn there was almost an identical thread to this one some time back, but since I can't find it, I'll put it to a case of mistaken deja vu...

When you say actual use case,  I narrow it down to what btc is mostly use for,  and that will be "Store of value" and "digital currency" this to me are the most widely use case about btc, rest is partially use by a small group of people, and I think it would much easier to point them out in writing no need for the video, but all the same good effort.

When i see the sentence "usecases of bitcoin", the first thought that came into my mind is that bitcoin is not just a new kind of currencies that can be used instead of classic currencies, it's also an electronic paiement system that can be used like any other paiement system. Something like PayPal which is also a paiement system using Dollar as its main currency. So if we just focus on bitcoin as a paiement system, using its own currency which is bitcoin, we can imagine how this is so useful in every field of our lives.

About the video, it's so long to be a simple informative video content. But it's good as a start. May be you can make it shorter so users don't get bored watching it .

This article sums up what you are looking for nicely op.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/investor/2020/02/06/coronavirus-proves-bitcoins-value-and-use-case-for-good/amp/

Basically, emergencies like the Coronavirus prove how useful BTC can truly be. BTC can be used like credit cards to conduct financial transactions anonymously across borders around the world without any sort of government scrutiny.

This is the biggest advantage of BTC and crypto and there is no alternative to this payment method. Future emergencies will further prove the value of BTC as the article states.

One thing we should get use to is Bitcoin attacks. Attacks has been one of the Major happenings and we have adapt to the facts that; you can't kill bitcoin and nothing can any government do to it existence. Let's those who are just coming into the cryptocurrency take note of this and don't be dismay at it. Bitcoin was for payment method and the world have embraced it existence as we keep approaching global adoption.
I commend your effort, but be rest assure that it will continue, bitcoin will always find it way out.

Something I don't understand is how the stock market is looking as if it's going up when the world economy has clearly taken a big blow. What's the stock market representing then?

As for the video, I think point #1 transfer value easily is one of the most notable features of bitcoin. I noticed in a few articles today that ethereum actually surpassed BTC transfer costs, not to bash or whatever but it's interesting to see another crypto taking a blow to their transfer rates.

It is nice to see you trying to explain crypto from your perspective, but your first experience needs a lot of evaluation:

 - Make videos shorter: Many people get bored with the content that exceeds 10 minutes.
 - Improve sound quality and add illustrative pictures: Do not read words, but add some graphics and educational charts.
 - Specialism: Talking about a specific topic and explaining every aspect.

Bitcoin has many uses, perhaps even more than any other coin. They can even pay for university tuition!
But I think that the most important application is to make a profit. Through hodl, structured deposits, trading, etc.
