Title: Which VPS recommended for Bot Trading?
Post by: very_452001 on June 10, 2020, 09:18:40 PM
I am after a VPS service with the following criteria:

- Will the bot run fine on older generations of CPU hardware architecture without 99-100% cpu usage most of the time?

- Which VPS has NVME hard drive as standard?

- I am looking to buy VPS directly off a company officially not through Resellers.

- A Secured VPS that prevents the common server attacks out there. Which operating system is recommended that the bot likes and also is secure? Is Windows Ok?

- Finally the VPS service must have a long established record and of course be reliable like the google's, amazon's, microsoft's out there where it still be operating in 10 years time with less strict Terms Of Service and of course allow the bot to run without getting banned.

So which VPS comes to mind with the best value for money or any good deals going on at the moment matching the above criteria?

Also which is better Value and better VPS SkySilk or Digital Ocean?

Try to check this offer from SteadyTurle from here https://www.steadyturtle.com/vps-hosting.php
And this one https://www.namecheap.com/hosting/vps/

If you don't want to reach the 100% CPU usage always choose the package with high CPU and ram.

Also, check this list of VPS from here https://bitcoin-vps.com/

About "VPS SkySilk or Digital Ocean" Well for me Digital Ocean is better. Actually never heard Skysilk but I noticed that they are offering cheap VPS monthly but I don't feel safe using it.

I made very good experience with Vultr.com. It offers (almost) all your required features. To get NVME choose Vultr Block Storage. Also you can pay in Bitcoin (via Bitpay).

Hi any more suggestions?

Looking for VPS preferably dedicated not shared hardware resources. Or is all VPS share hardware resources?

If I run a windows VPS what recommended specs am I looking at? I understand Linux is less hardware demanding.

Not all VPS share the resources. What you need to look for is VPS using KVM, unlike OpenVZ, the resources are dedicated. KVM and OpenVZ are the most popular hypervisors I think. (Google VPS with KVM perhaps, OVH comes in my mind) It's also usually mentioned on the website

I don't know much about Windows server but a full server with CP and SQL need at least 3GB I suppose, so you will surely need less (just for the OS I mean, then you need to consider your bot)

Okay KVM VPS are the best ones, better than OpenVZ?

Which is the cheapest KVM or any good deals at the moment for KVM that is backed by good customer reviews?

Is Gunbot hardware demanding?

Yes, better than OpenVZ since the resources are dedicated, but OpenVZ can be enough (not everyone abuses their VPS).
Difficult to say which is the cheapest, there are so many around, but for example, you can get a VPS for ~$5/month with OVH. You can also get a cheap VPS searching on LowEndBox (see KVM here (https://lowendbox.com/tag/kvm/))

I checked Gunbot's wiki and it says the recommended specs are 2GB with 10 GB free disk space here (https://wiki.gunthy.org/about/system-requirements)

Doesn't it depend on the operating system that dictates the specs needed? It can run on linux os easily but running on windows os may require a higher recommended hardware specs right because windows is more hardware resource demanding than linux?

Also when a VPS advertises a storage space for example 15GB then is that 15GB available after the operating system is installed on it?

I can see windows server 2019 being advertised by vps but shall I assume 2019 edition of windows server require a faster vps specs?

Will windows server 2016 run fine on cheap vps mentioned on lowendbox and will gunbot run fine on windows server 2016 on cpu 1 core?

Minimal Windows server requires 512Mo (800Mo is better) I found it on the Microsoft documentation.
Well to compare CentOs needs 512Mo RAM ,Ubuntu too & Debian between 256 to 512 (I'm able to run Ubuntu server +Openbox with 80Mo ;D)

When the provider advertises 15GB it's before the operating system is installed

With a Windows server, it's recommended to have a 32GB space disk. I didn't know until today and that's crazy considering Linux needs a lot less (i.e. 2GB with Debian)

I don't know if you're aware but you can rent a VPS per hour sometimes. (i.e. digital ocean under 0.01$ per hour) So if you really want to be sure and test a server configuration before buying for a full month, you can try this solution

I dont mind paying for a full month instead of hourly charge.

So windows server is 32GB and Gunbot is 10GB so disk drive storage I need minimum is over 42GB right to get it working?

Is Contabo vps KVM?

+1, It's very cheap, from 1$ - 2.5$/month. I recommend you use this service.
I use it to run Telegram bot.
