I am big time follower of ethereum from initial days i was holding ethereum even the price less than 100$ and also i was holding ethereum at the price of 1500$ . But based on recent development i am highly speculative ethereum price after 2.0  release . Once POS introduced the problem of scalability will be solved  Maximum supply will be fixed . So i am slowly investing on ethereum from my savings part by part reasons are below
1) Inflation in global curreny or fiat curreny ( ehtereum and bitcoin is best alternative invetment solution )
2) Ethereum is the best Smart contract creation platform holding major DAPP's in market
3) Real world use case

For me, so far this is the best use of Ethereum.
That's why Ethereum is still on the highest volume for smart contract cryptocurrency, some other cryptocurrency that has smart contract feature is base on Ethereum or just a copycat, just why I am also a believer of Ethereum.
Some quality altcoins there also using Ethereum, which Ethereum makes more popular and quality as well. It really built for a smart contract in the first place.

Neutrally crypto currency is for the Future, hence the reason why it is always emphasized that we do our researches promptly.
be it etherum, bitcoin or other altcoins if you do the proper research, they are the investment for the future.

The next update will have more advantages rather than the disadvantage. The only problem that will be appearing after the update should be the inflation caused by the when so many people staked their ethereum and that will produce more emission but i have been investing in ethereum since last months

Ethereum is always been a good investment, I profited on this coin many times in the past and when it dumped, I never hesitate to accumulate.
I'm also hoping that its update will bring significant improvement to the system and people will adopt on it since the growth of ethereum will affect a lot of altcoins in the market.

The ETH 2.0 launch was expected this year, it was previously posted that it will be this July 2020, so I'm optimistic that it will be realized to see how it would effect its market.

But after this article was published,  Buterin said he did not hear the word “July” in the question about Eth 2.0’s progress and misspoke as a result, all these are written in the article,so it's really uncertain when they will launch ETH 2.0.

No doubt in terms of Altcoins Ethereum is the main top good investment for the long term, it can give nice savings in the future.
Besides, majority of the people here in the crypto business believed that ETH is always next into bitcoin. So, at this point of time its a good chance for us to buy em then hold.

IMHO, I believe in the purpose and capability of the crypto industry, particularly in Bitcoin and Ethereum as a leading player in the industry. even today both coins are a good choice of investment. But don't let your guards down, because I believe that only time will tell if the proliferation of the crypto industry will continue to prosper due to many reasons including treats from our respective governments. So for me, the best time to invest in Ethereum is today not in the future.

Definitely one of the best. Right now maybe some still in doubt with it but what you mentioned here OP are all true. The infinitie supply of eth will be fixed and this could drive the price up with a limited circulation. Its a debate before if its gonna be a huge factor on eth network but the truth is this will served as good indicator on their network. Scalability will be much improved and who knows maybe smart contract business could shine the light again to ICO projecs.

I agree with your assessment and your three point, if Ethereum is not the best investment for future then what is, they are holding the number two position, it has the second best volume and so many tokens are relying on it's application, so I'm 100% sure that Ethereum is one of the best investment for the future.

bitcoin and ethereum are two giant coins in the crypto world today, so don't be surprised if these two coins influence the movements of other altcoins, so for long-term investments, Ethereum is very suitable to be held even though the crypto market is unstable.

It is undeniable that Ethereum is the right one when I want to invest, especially in the long term, because for me Ethereum has become a driving machine for other coin transactions so it is certain that this will always be needed by anyone. What I'm worried most about ETH is the inflation rate with ETH 2.0 PoS. Bunch of guys sitting with over 32 ETH and their ETH keep growing thanks to PoS without any risk, really a safe ROI over time. Many PoS coins meet with huge spike inflation because of this. Hopefully, there are more means of use for ETH thanks to its Smart contract ERC20 token to keep the ETH flow keep going.

It is uncertain when they will launch ETH 2.0 and this will cause more questions about how serious they are about this issue. Another point is the question of competitiveness, today the altcoin market is very competitive and you cannot think of prices like $1300 for ETH in the future. I know that some people have created great expectations about ETH, but I suggest people who settle for 2X or 3X profits if they have that altcoin.

Such question can also be asked for bitcoin hodlers when it hit ATH. Of course, it is everybody's desire to know such times but even TA is bereaved of such accurate result, not prediction or speculation anymore.

There are too many questions about what happened to the price of Ethereum after the volume 2.0 release.
Upon what I had understood it will the same to Bitcoin that has halved, it could be locked and it could attract ETH from other contracts that make the price drive up in the market.

I didn't have doubt on Ethereum even if this isn't able to upgrade himself and turn to volume 2.0. Honestly, Ethereum is few of those coin you can count on for long time investment. Much like Bitcoin , Ethereum has become increasingly popular in recent years as people fully accept cryptocurrencies. Let's see how they are going to deal with the transaction fee discussions. They keep saying they have improved it already and they have increased the capacity and many other stuff about how awesome it is right now compared to past.

However, let's remember users are not really here to just use it until the capacity and stop, they will definitely test the maximum for sure. There is no doubt that there is a chance of ethereum getting a mass adoption too, frankly speaking ethereum works better than bitcoin at this case. And from now I can literally see where the ethereum is heading, I've been seeing a lot of Defi ( Decentralized Finance) though it's not totally decentralized, which is running under ethereum blockchain. I invested in Ethereum but not that as heavily as others are doing. I think also that PoS will bring significant improvement for Ethereum not just through its smart contract and everything that it can work for.

Last night I was learning about the ETH erc777:

The marketplace has been extremely slow to use the newer ERC777 standard, and this might leave room for the competition to offer more advanced smart contracts.

It is just the same for me, no doubt ETH is the best choice for investing in. ETH is the second cryptocurrency after BTC and more than that top altcoins like ETH are always valuable. I'm also a big fan of ETH. But like everybody I'm also waiting for the ETH2.0 update, maybe it will also affect the ETH price, we can make double profit from ETH investment at the time.

Beautifully explained in a to the point manner, I have been an Eth supporter just like you and I think that there can not be a better time to buy or accumulate more and more Eth than right now. I am also trying to buy more as often as i can with fiat or if any of my other alt pumps i try to exchange it for eth. I am super excited and really bullish for Eth perhaps more than Btc, I am sure people who will not enter in couple of more months time will regret after a year or so when Ethereum will become really expensive.

I agree with you about ethereum is the best choice for altcoin, investing in the top altcoin is the best choice. ethereum is the best altcoin of all altcoins, so it is worth investing in ethereum, but there other top altcoins that are also good like NEO, BNB, XRP but ethereum is still the best choice. ethereum has been known for a long time and is one that is very resistant to pressure because of how well they manage. but if the choice of all tokens is clearly bitcoin is the main choice, because all altcoin is still affected by bitcoin is no exception with ethereum itself.

I would like to know if you can stake Ethereum coins and also lock them in MakerDao smart-contract to get DAI tokens. Then it would be really nice way how to maximize profit and leverage your cryptocurrency position.  :)

That's a good idea for this time but I'm not sure people are willing to stake their ethereum into the maker dao to get the DAI tokens after POS 2.0 ethereum. as far as I know if when people lock their ethereum in to get dai means they used their ethereum to participate in lending service.

Ethereum could be more beneficial with its latest update into Ethereum 2.0 where we can expect more massive adoption from people because of its own usefulness. So i never doubted ethereum in the first place because i believe it has a huge potential to be a great investment in the future next to bitcoin.

In the past, ETH was probably an asset that many people dreamed of when the growth and development of their platforms were very good. but right now, when the market is going bad, ethereum growth and development is not so good their market is moving slowly, let alone the use of their platforms too much for fraud. there is no good control from the developer that makes ethereum reputation decline.

You got it! I will definitely agree with this one. No doubt that bitcoin will remain the best cryptocurrencies investment for the next few years. For me, Ethereum is also a good cryptocurrency investment, and it is also part of my portfolio but not in a big portion. We have seen the slow increase in the price of Ethereum and it seems it's striving to go back to its ATH price in the market which is around 1400$. Many of us are now waiting on their big update and I know it can somehow change the price of Ethereum on the market. I'm totally sure that Ethereum will really become part of the best cryptocurrency for this year 2020.

Indeed. No one can replace bitcoin as the top one cryptocurrency in the market. the speculation on ethereum compared to BTC are not that big but when the time comes that the price of ETH is not connected to BTC anymore it will make a big difference, it may never come but in crypto many are possible so better keep some for the future.

I am not having any doubt about ethereum to test again its previous/current ATH of $1000+ because it will be easily getting value when bitcoin will be gaining more value. I mean in terms of fiats ethereum will definitely have a value above $1000 also but if you ask in terms of BTC value then I'm not sure about that. Because, unlike 2018 currently ethereum is having a lot of competition to attract investors.

By considering all these ethereum cannot be the investment of the future but it should be one of the asset we must consider to have in our portfolio for the reason of the diversification. Why not? Ethereum shows so much advantage than the other altcoins. Since ethereum is already established, the trust of investors to buy and invest this coin is already been good. I have few ethereum that is still holding in my wallet, it never failed me actually because I benefitted many times from investing into it. But, do not close doors to some other altcoins that has also potential when it cones to it's significant jmuse or as an investment, too.

I do not think that the time when ETH will not be associated with the BTC movement will come. Bitcoin has always been and will remain that cryptocurrency that will indicate the direction of the price movement of the market.

indeed ethereum can reach 3 large ranks of cryptocurrency in circulation but you have to know that the ranking is not always maintained because I still doubt that ethereum can definitely be an investment in the future because ethereum has an unlimited supply means that everyone can have ethereum with the amount a lot and the possibility of price inflation that could make ethereum collapse. at least if you want to create investments in cryptocurrency you must have a very limited supply of coins.

I just wonder still people like you are following coinmarketcap' ranking to assume about the potential of a coin. That is definitely misleading at most of the time. There is no such a thing like number 2 or anything. You must need to analyse what potential and possibility for a coin/token to be performing in future. When we go blindly just because of top ranking coin in coinmarketcap then definitely you will end up highly disappointed.

You're not the first one I am seeing but most people here are just following coinmarketcap for making their investment decision. That is definitely not a sensible act a crypto adopter can do. Well.. let me ask you a very simple question. If the development is so much active, then why they have delayed the roll-out of Ethereum 2.0 multiple times? If the developers were so efficient, why they are planning to do the roll-out in multiple phases instead of a single phase as per the earlier plan? Why they failed to take care of the security bugs and issues that coped up during 2019 and 2020?

 I think the biggest difference will be with the exchanges that are doing staking nowadays. Binance started it very recently I think, only a few months ago. You put your money into the exchange and they give you the staking rewards minus some money with it. A very good business idea considering exchanges are already holding your money so they are not doing anything different, works for you because you do not have to keep your PC open 24/7 and still stake, and works for them because they won't do anything different and still get money from the comissions they are taking. Ethereum looks to be future of crypto in my mind, I can't guarantee it but looks like its going to be one of the best ones out there in the future.

Ethereum is not bad at all, it's the most trusted on my list of altcoins I have in my portfolio but there are other good altcoins I have too like Tezos, chainlink, cosmos, Seele but ethereum has the most reliable trust

I have a strong feeling that Ethereum will have another all-time high, the POS is the one that's going to help them achieved it, I don't see it not reaching another all-time high while Bitcoin, is going for another all-time high possibly this year, Both Bitcoin and Ethereum are the parameters if we are in a bull run.

Think about it this way. Ethereum used to be 1.5k dollars, yes that is a very hard price to reach but at least we know that it is technically "possible", not saying it will be like that once again very soon but at least we know that it could become that in the future.

On top of that you are going to get staking, when staking happens everyone will want to buy ethereum to stake and make money, we don't know what the ROI will be yearly and the interest rate (for lack of better worth) will be so we are speculating right now but I am sure there will be people who will want to buy and hold it. I think it is too late for bitcoin investments. It is not too late as in it will never go up, it could go up as much as 10x which is the max I think it could go. However ethereum has a huge upside, I think the best case scenario would be ethereum going around 100x which is around 25k or so each ethereum and it is totally possible.

The market cap of ethereum is quite low right now and there is still a long way to make it at the bitcoin level and I am not saying ethereum will be first and bitcoin will fall, but even if bitcoin goes super high and keeps that first place like become 100k per bitcoin type of price, that still leaves 25k per ethereum price and I think that is still doable. In the case of Ethereum, I have a strong suspicion that the developers have lost their interest in further enhancing it. Many of the security upgrades have been delayed and even the roll-out of the much hyped Ethereum 2.0 is yet to realize. Under such circumstances, I am not going to recommend Ethereum to anyone.

Now the price of ethereum is really very cheap and I think it's the proper time to buy and hold for the long term. So I agree with you about ethereum investment. It will rock on when 2.0 upgrade will launch.

I have always considered ethereum the best cryptocurrency to hold for long term. I prefer ethereum because its greatly undervalued considering the fact that it has an infinite supply. It'll be possible if defi projects distribute their Defi tokens more than others in ETH lending. As far from the statistics of Compound (https://compound.finance/governance/comp), they only distributing total of 19 COMP Tokens between the both ETH borrowers and suppliers which is only 0.75% of total distribution as well as 126x less than highest distribution from others. Most of the Interest or Comp tokens are distributed between USDQ and BAT token suppliers & borrowers. So, eth wil set for the moon if defi projects give more interest for eth lendings.  :D

Hmmm I didn't know this 1000 fold increase about Compound, was this a tokens ICO on the ethereum block-chain.Ethereum is having a lot of innovative features along with cheaper transactions and faster transaction confirmation times. I very much agree with the comments above. In fact, in my opinion you'd be crazy to not think that ETH is an altcoin worth investing into. The fact that it is the second biggest to BTC in terms of market cap should already be a give away.
Smart contracts have become possible because of Ethereum and more innovations with greater technological improvements are underway. It is clear that ETH is an asset we can rely on on for future success.

Ethereum is a top-2 coin. It has a good ecosystem, including dapps, smartcontracts etc. Vitalik announced Ethereum 2.0. So, yes, it is a good investment.
You can invest in it in different ways: mining right now and staking later, structured deposits, dApps and smartcontracts, which I mentioned before, make own erc-20 token etc.

Whatever the early intention of buyers with ethereum i.e to be used for long or short term investment and it doesn't matter a lot like the major platforms and it will never try to deceive the people who have been putting their money into the ethereum. Hardly, the current market is not as hyped as it is back then, in 2017 ETH price could go skyrocket simply because so many people are joining crypto and that's before people started to get bored. although I've seen people talking about DeFi here and there the chance is slim to get us the ETH's ATH again but of course we're expecting pleasant surprise from this whole DeFi thing.

I will like to know what makes DOGE a better investment than ETH, aside the gas fee? I believe with the ETH 2.0 upgrade the fees will reduce, just saying. However, I still prefer ETH to the coins you mentioned (BCH and DOGE) notwithstanding. Imagine what happens when ETH 2.0 upgrade is completed and fees reduce, plus the DEFI hype increasing. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions anyway, I'm not disputing yours.

Defi will soon be forgotten when there are many failed projects because Defi is no different from ICO compared to previous years, and surely this investment trend will only thrive in a few months. I think that one way or another, any project needs to be considered and invested only when you truly understand it. I also feel scared about the Defi projects, but at this point it is still too early to conclude and let the time to answer.

I personally believe in ethereum and would gladly invest for a long term hold of the project. Ethereum has a long way to go in terms of the value and it would be worth the hold when we look back on how it has fared. I have a conviction that ethereum would be relevant in the future.

if, and when, Ethereum goes to ETH2.0 or transition to PoS, IMO price will rise significantly, due to a lot of stacking that will be on the network, even now there is more value in tokens on Ethereum network, then in ETH coin himself, which is a good sign that Ethereum network is used, have users and will not vanish, so i think it has perspective to be a number one in the future

I don't really know much about doge but does it have any admirable peak? It has always been a flip flop project. Also we should not mention etherum and doge together, doge cannot near eth excellence.
