Title: Be nice to altcoins (meme I just made)
Post by: Emperor of Man on June 15, 2020, 01:54:01 PM
Hi. I just had some random thoughts and they clashed in my mind and the result was this:

Be nice to alts you *^%$#* BTC maximalists, they are cryptocurrencies too and their lives matter. You already have 65% of the market (which we hope it will get corrected to a more rational number soon). What more do you want? You need everbody else's money?  ;D

I get the intention of this thread which is nice, but unfortunately most alts really are less worth than BTC. In fact, most of them should actually be worth nothing right now.

There are some alts out there that I do support, but only a handful of them. The rest is simply garbage and we should have a "CoinTrashCan" separate site so that we'd have where to truly fit them.

Well, I personally consider the first 200 (or so) projects of coinmarketcap worthy (although in the last bull market we had 1000+ cryptocurrencies and most of them had good price growths).

The rest are "usually" unworthy and they are one of the reasons why this whole market does not advance (although hidden gems exist between them too).

The wrong narrative which has existed for a long time, is that only BTC matters and everything else is garbage! I don't buy that idea, because it totally ignores the concept of creativity and there's no reason to believe other projects have no chance in crypto.

I don't agree with that narrative either, but having a different coin for every single use case is just not going to help the market & crypto domain at all. Even among the top 200 projects, you find too much garbage (Verge? Bitcoin SV? Centralized cryptos? we had even BitConnect etc) that brings the worthy projects down or make them turn into "gems", as you say, that only few either have a lot of luck to randomly put their money into or are lucky enough to choose them as a personal preference of worthy coins.

Once we'll have a proper cleanup of the existing coins and the legit & worthy ones stay while the garbage goes, your meme will age well and hopefully it will. :D

Survival of fittest. No reservations nor no special cases.

Moreover, this is a decentralized space and more importantly this forum is still allowing altcoins with dedicated boards even it was created for bitcoins. An altcoin will stay with us if it has a reason.

For example, the most prominent and old altcoin is litecoin. It flourished and attracted investors when it has meaning for its creation. Litecoin was created to support GPU miners and to have sliver standard on crypto space. But, when ASIC were invented to mine scypts as well, litecoin lost its 50% of meaning. But, still staying with us for the concept of silver like standard and being old coin of alt space.

Similarly ethereum scaled its peak when ICO was doing good. But, new innovations like IEO, spoiled its future. No could could do anything for that.

Altcoins will come and go; and may stay with us if is based on real world use case. Exchange tokens are good example for real wolrd use case of providing discounts. So, we may expect bitcoin dominance to be 60% constantly when altcoins are failing but new coins are arriving.

I highly agree since more than 90% of altcoins are shit and needed to be thrown away.

Well, definitely Bitcoin worth more than any altcoins but I agree to OP, we should be nice to "worthy" altcoins too.  Without them, cryptocurrency adoption and information dissemination would be sluggish.  Many Bitcoin lover was brought by these altcoins.  Why not give them the benefit (altcoins) they deserve.

I do think that altcoins are important for Bitcoin. If you are honest altcoins really helped bitcoin to become more popular. Usually, Bitcoin is the currency to buy altcoins with at different exchanges.

I really don't know why most of the people have to be a hardcore fan of some coins and keep bashing others. Even the developers of many coins shares their expertise and experience and some are even volunteering in multiple project while small investors are taking sides like they are a football clubs on the same league.

It's because of the bad altcoins. They didn't stood up well whilst having the attention of the mass. They ended up being a scam, a pump and dump and suddenly dead. Which made them thought to become hardcore with altcoins. I myself is also holding some alts but I'm choosing the best base on my preference. I hold mostly bitcoin and that's why I understand why some are being hard to an individual that doesn't hold bitcoin and chose to go all in for altcoins. They are giving advice but in a hardly manner.

Somehow I feel crypto currency doesn't care about how you feel or react to altcoins ot bitcoins
What should be priority is that, you are taking profits from your portfolios, because asides that, i don't know what else

Many altcoins are worth a good deal. After 2017 bull run, I started focusing on bitcoin and ethereum. But I discovered I was wrong to have narrowed my investment to these 2 coins. Today I have been making money from altcoins which makes me rarely have time for bounty due to active trading of altcoin.

The meme speaks volume. However, not all altcoins are worth being specially treated, because everything about them is just sh*t . They get dumped on others and after a short period of time, they become so useless that they worth nothing.
On the contrary, despite the challenges the present crypto market is facing, some altcoins are still able to have the feel of what being among the tops is. Those ones can still display some level of confidence.

I do say the same impression or thing that i do have in mind.I dont care which one because in the end, the best one would really be on the top.
Its either bitcoin would reign until the very end or would be surpassed with other altcoin. No one really knows on what would happen ahead.
We cant even assure if that top spot would be patched up forever. What matter most here is to make money/profits by utilizing their movement.
If you do go for long term then it would always be like a gamble and also you cant blame out other people since we do have different insights
into different things.

Every altcoins, even Ethereum is following Bitcoin price. After changing Bitcoin price, every altcoins price changes, even fresh altcoins. From the whole coinmarketcap, Bitcoin has dominant over 65 percent. To become millionaires person Bitcoin can't help with low money, altcoins is also more risky than Bitcoin.  The top two coins won't change in 3 years, Chainlink and Vechain could enter the top 10 in a few years.

Altcoin is good, the reason of some people hate it because there is a lot of shitcoin around this crypto world, anyone should search carefully before buying any alts, there is a hundred option of good ones to get and the future is good.

Each crypto has their own uses and worth. Its just that bitcoin is the most popular crypto and recognize by many countries thats why alts are often compared that has less worth compared to bitcoin.

Plus there are many shitcoins existing nowadays which is not good for crypto ecosystem. New investors are ending up with shitcoins thinking its like btc wherein they can earn as time goes by.

Like bitcoin, alts are good investment as well but we need to choose where to invest because not all alts can give us profit.

If you will combine all altcoin into single coin or they will merge maybe there is a chance to tie up with bitcoin. Altcoins have different usage and concept so investors are confuse which is which should be focusing on ca. Have both if we have huge money. But talking about worthiness, I am still go for bitcoin no matter what. But my aspiration for ethereum would never change as fan of this great altcoin other than that nothing more.

The rest is simply garbage and we should have a "CoinTrashCan" separate site so that we'd have where to truly fit them.

The trash can is really needed because most of them are just there occupying space in the personal wallets, exchanges and cmc. Bitcoin is a model for all but just few has followed the run few times. If we can have the repetition of the past in 2017, we could confirm those to hit the trash bin.

I have hundreds of this trash coin that you are calling and they are just totally waste of time and an eyesore every time I looked on my wallet, they do not contribute to the community and they are giving pain and heartache to the community, there are only very few new projects right now that are worth investing.

True lol! At first, I was mad and desperate whenever I look at those coins in my wallets. However, right now, I just consider them as lessons and experiences. I would like to delete some of them if I could though!

Yes, and some smart people will certainly use their way of choosing good Altcoin, because hating Altcoin is not a good solution, but analyzing and researching all Altcoin is a very good way to do so that someone is not wrong in choosing Altcoin.

Lol OP. To be honest, I am a Bitcoin person myself. Yes I hold alts, but very very few, and have not added a new alt to my portfolio for 2 years. More than 90% of my holdings is in BTC, I have moved a bit here and there but still for the coins I really like (Monero Litecoin mainly). But I agree, some Bitcoin maximalists are so rude:P And they talk about it like they're so privileged:P

I suggest you seriously consider getting into the alts world more, because the way I see it many alts are forming strong long-time bottoms and the years lasting bear market might finally be over in not-very-far future.

Also, I lol-ed at the privilege thingy!  :D

Let's not look at the environment of the cryptocurrency ecosystem as a box where there is only one jewel. Ahh! that if! the more the box is occupied the more we know which one shines the most in an orange white tone.

The cryptomarket is defined by supply and demand, the more alternatives exist without solidity in their projects, more consolidate those that have shown that they can be investment alternatives, it is that simple. The strength of any market is based on free competition, it is up to consumers to decide what to buy, sell.

I know very well that the majority of crypto users love to invest in bitcoin, ‏because the alternative currency has not achieved any success so far, ‏ ‏But this does not mean that it will not succeed in achieving broad economic growth. ‏The market is still small and I think it will grow soon. ‏Therefore, ‏some symbols must be chosen and kept. ‏Maybe tomorrow will be bright. ‏We must be patient. ‏ ‏ ‏

Always competing among the holders. ANd personally, I stand for the Bitcoin side.  ;D
Actually every coin may have its positive sides and also negatives. In this case, what we believe in the coin will determine what re going to do, have, and also hold. So far, Bitcoin still becomes the most valuable crypto as I think. It doesn't only offer a good chance for us to make worthier but also always have good era to increase.

Yes there is lots of altcoin giving real solution most of them following the same path of ethereum or its based on ethereum platform token . THere is not much to see in Altcoin platform . But now the hope is Ethereum 2.0 and NEO aquiring chinese government . Developers largely start to use EOS and ADA platfom for Dapps and Smart contract creation .

I'ts because those altcoins you are talking about seems left a bad image to the other altcoins. But there are still worthy altcoins out there. It's just that, they are incomparable with bitcoin. Thus making them have a reason to mainly choose bitcoin rather than some alts that  has unsure future. Bitcoin, without altcoins can survive and stand well.

I know what Bitcoin maximalist means, but I don't think it's fair. You can't devide crypto-currencies in two groups,
Bitcoin and shit-coins! Every Bitcoin maximalist thinks that. Bitcoin is on top and it's the best from the best, but
there are other groups, like Ethereum, good alt-coins and in the end there is a group called shit-coins.
I believe in Bitcoin, Ethereum and many good alt-coins, but there're shit-coins too, nobody can deny that.

Well i also had hundreds of altcoin from different airdrops and bounty campaign since 2017 and all of them are worthless. But i admit that few of them had been successful in past but now there are neglected and almost all of the are still unknown by other.

Well i certainly agree, There are still really worth altcoin out there if you just made your on research. I had bad experience on altcoins and lost a big amount of money.
And for me bitcoin is still the safest and trusted coin and no altcoin can surpassed bitcoin.

When you think about it, without Bitcoin there won´t be altcoins, but without altcoins, Bitcoin can operate. Maybe Bitcoin wouldn´t be so expanded because altcoins are very good at marketing, Bitcoin doesn´t have any marketing. And secondly, maybe the Bitcoin network would be overloaded due to many transactions, but that would accelerate the adoption of Lightning Network :).

You cannot be nice to altcoins or bitcoins in this crypto currency space/era that we are. If you maintain being nice over basics that should be followed, then you could have troubles taking profits where necessary.

Focus instead on taking profits from crypto currency and influencing mass adoption because the blockchain is not nice to anyone.

LN might not be used if the BTC smart contract will be launched. The concept of smartcontracts is first used by altcoins and for the lack of functionality, BTC Smart contact has to be developed. BTC is secure due to POW and the number of merchants accepting it which is why its that acceptable by all behind it, its nothing compare to the creativity of the altcoin developers today. Some may be shitcoins but the ones that make the crypto space widely adopted these days are the altcoins creative functions.

It's a cool meme for the worthy altcoin.

I guess it is because of history and that is why many worthy altcoins are being dragged by the bad view on it.
You see scam left and right. If it is not scam then it is dust or just someone who wants to make money and attention.
I understand this which is why I am supporting some of the altcoins out there.

Bitcoin will always be on top but there will always be room for the top 10.  ;)
