Title: After reading the coindesk article, I see Directpool exceeding 5 TH/S soon.. Post by: AJMiles on March 21, 2014, 11:28:56 PM EDIT: Community, Thanks for all your efforts to try this pool out, although bitcoin pool did not work,
I don't blame them for trying, hope more pools help contribute to stabilize a healthy network like directpool's mission. from what I see this is a decentralization of a centralized pool correct? kinda like how the fans own the greenbay packers? I'll read up more but figure why not boost it while i learn more about them Title: Re: After reading the coindesk article, I see Directpool exceeding 5 TH/S soon.. Sure we can mine for strictly profits, but I see directpool giving us more reasons for hash power, so lets take advantage of that. Low % fees, helping good causes and fund Digital Currency projects, and voting power because you are a miner? I'll take it. Sure, shoot some questions up if you are not sure about something, i'll find some info for you. Your reasonable efforts to help get directpool started, and your hash power is highly appreciated! Sure, it seems like a good time for a pool like this with so many miner companies also running pools it would be best if miners took the lead and get those mining companies to mine in a community pool instead of their own perhaps this could lead to that - god knows they got so much goodwill from pre-orders they should turn around and give back into the ecosystem my questions are mainly technical.. perhaps they can go in a FAQ once they are ironed out: 1) Voting. Will votes be weighted by hashing power? If not, what will stop someone from making many small accounts to game the system that way? Is there a middle ground so small miners don't feel insignificant but also big miners not feel rewarded? 2) Is the pool prepared for DDoS attacks? I know it is early, but they can really cripple a site and having miners leave in droves if defenses aren't in place 3) How are the payouts calculated.. again it's early since no blocks yet, but is it CPPSRB or PPLNS? Or something else? Let's get the word out and see if we can get past 6Th over the weekend... then we might get a block by end of April! :) Title: Re: After reading the coindesk article, I see Directpool exceeding 5 TH/S soon.. Sure, it seems like a good time for a pool like this with so many miner companies also running pools it would be best if miners took the lead and get those mining companies to mine in a community pool instead of their own perhaps this could lead to that - god knows they got so much goodwill from pre-orders they should turn around and give back into the ecosystem +1! my questions are mainly technical.. perhaps they can go in a FAQ once they are ironed out: 1) Voting. Will votes be weighted by hashing power? If not, what will stop someone from making many small accounts to game the system that way? Is there a middle ground so small miners don't feel insignificant but also big miners not feel rewarded? Voting will be a fair-based system. Every miner will have equal voting power and will be able to vote once. We will be implementing a system where a miner can only vote once they've mined for atleast 48hrs minimum on DirectPool. 2) Is the pool prepared for DDoS attacks? I know it is early, but they can really cripple a site and having miners leave in droves if defenses aren't in place Pool is prepared for DDoS attacks and we have steps in place to ensure stability during DDoS attacks (this was tested today with success). 3) How are the payouts calculated.. again it's early since no blocks yet, but is it CPPSRB or PPLNS? Or something else? Payouts method is PPLNS. Let's get the word out and see if we can get past 6Th over the weekend... then we might get a block by end of April! :) We're definitely working on it! :) EDIT: Will add this info to the FAQ page shortly. x3 Title: Re: After reading the coindesk article, I see Directpool exceeding 5 TH/S soon.. Yes, my miners are working just fine; however, the front end is down. DPoS - Thanks for being proactive in helping DirectPool out! Are you mining using the gridseed miners? I am apart of that unicorn thread too, so just curious. He has been pretty helpful. Title: Re: After reading the coindesk article, I see Directpool exceeding 5 TH/S soon..
