Title: Ethereum 2.0 and its impact?
Post by: irfan_pak10 on June 21, 2020, 06:36:58 PM
As I have already posted somewhere that Ethereum 2.0 is going to launch its phase 0 this year and phase 1 during the next year. I have the expectation that launch of the ethereum POS system will bring many positive changes and its price will hike much more than expected.

So what do you have in your mind, how much price will hike?
When do you think it will be a good time to invest - I think, now is a good time, Price will hike as before its launch.

[Purpose of this thread will purely for ether price analysis. Hopefully, because of this thread, someone makes a profit by investing in ether.]

POS system will attract investors, yes for sure because only hold you can get some ETH, this is very tempting for investors. Moreover ETH is a very popular coin, and became the nickname of the king of altcoin. I hope ETH 2.0 when launched does not have disabilities and runs perfectly. and with this news I hope there is no hyip later, after the pump prices remain stable.

Ethereum 2.0 is somehow centalized, anyone that do not have 32 worth of ether will not receive any reward, which means only people that have enough funds will stake ether for reward, this could cause a drawback. Had it been everyone can stake and receive reward, it will be fine as many people will be attracted this way.

Also, issue of DApps and Difi to be affected is still under discussion that they will no longer be secure and safe but I think this will be solved.

About the ether price, I do not know if the price can skyrocket above $1000 early, I really doubt it but I know that one day ether price will worth more than $2000.

There's really a lot of hype regarding this ETH2.0, specially the staking thingy, the only question is that if they can really make it to the July schedule as it has been pushed many times alrady.

So what do you have in your mind, how much price will hike?

Definitely, ETH is like the second coin behind BTC and with new development the price could take off again. But I'm not seeing any ATH though, not yet, probably the target goal should be $500 at least at the end of the year if everything goes smoothly as planned.

Many Ethereum killers will be killed because they promised to develop a similar solution faster, but I do not see any platform that really achieved such goals what we can expect from the much anticipated update.

i think there are no ethereum killers mate, because from the beginning ethereum is the best altcoins
and altcoin who claimed as ethereum killers can't beat the ethereum right ?
and for the OP i think eth could go above $500 in phase 0 this year

ETH2.0 will launch later or sooner and l believe that new update will bring many positive changes ( as you mentioned) and it is no an exaggeration to say that after ETH2.0 launched ETH price will be better than at the moment, l submitted on 1000$, that is why l believe ETH can reach this number. ETH deserves it, but need just a bit of time.

Such events are always at least partially priced in, because they are so predictable. There will be some pump when the date of the upgrade will come close, because previously it got delayed so there's some uncertainty that needs to be cleared.

But PoS itself isn't a good reason for a price pump, there's a lot of PoS coins on the market and they don't necessarily do well. It can even negatively affect the coin if it will compromise its security due to the inherent problems with centralization of PoS. So I wouldn't be so bullish on ETH just because of the upgrade.

Ethereum prices could be over 500 USD after the launch announcement. This will be the first impact price, after the launch price will be over 1000. Everyone can predict the price as experience but both halving and ETH 2.0 will lead us to the next bullrun. In the next bullrun, the Ethereum price could be over 15k USD.

I can take the latest chart of validators in beacon chain as good data to determine the trend https://beacon.etherscan.io/statistics

We can see the validators were have been growing up even more. More validators = more ethereum will be locked in staking address and that means less circulating supply will available in the market.

In this case, less inflation will actually give benefits to the price of ethereum.

that's the main key.

I put $300 as the next pit stop for ethereum

because huge demands will coming to ethereum, and will push the price up strongly my friend

^ I voted $1k price, but I hope it will reach on that amount and we are all hoping the bullish trend of ETH price after launching the volume 2.0.
I saw the potential of ETH price will hike because it is the second place coins behind on BTC, but I have one insight that I worried most, once ETH was successfully transitioned to the PoS. Probably most ETH miners will leave because of switching to other networks that maybe they will hardly cope with the new one. Possible reason is the transaction fee probably will increase too.

I picked $500>, for me this is the biggest resistance so obviously, we need to break this barrier first and then see if it if can go somewhere new the 4 digits again. The keyword here is their "Staking", there are a lot of investors now joining the bandwagon because of the potential to make huge money in the future. But it will not be an easy road though, remember that we are still somewhat in the bearish sentiments as far as the whole altcoin market goes. But it this is a success then it can have some domino effect to the market. But $500 should be the initial test, as least that's how I see.

I was thinking that what @StephenJH stated was very high, not until I saw yours. $15k  could be a lot much. BTC is still struggling to reach that mark again, let alone ETH. Well, anything can happen during the bull run and being optimistic about it is a good thing. However, I still do not expect something as much as that, even if it is going to increase so well.

This was posted last May 2020 https://cointelegraph.com/news/ethereum-20-release-date-set-for-the-eleventh-hour-as-issues-persist and yet, another delay had come and that people may think that ETH 2.0 never gave big hope to the market.
Well, I don't know how serious they are (developers) for this. People are looking for a positive market impact the same thing as they give hopes for Bitcoin halving. If they still keep delaying the launch of this project, I don't know how people take the response to it and as well as the market.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ethereum-20-should-be-secure-and-scalable-but-poses-risks-for-users this is somewhat exciting to see after the upgrade.

I think we should not expect too much about this Eth 2.0, though I can say I am also excited what's gonna be the price of eth after this. If you are a holder just be conservative with your price predictions so you will not be disappointed if it didn't reach your targets.

This impact doesn't push so hard to price up. I don't expect 500-700 USD, if Ethereum 2.0 starts POS on the beacon chain. Without the pump of Bitcoin, Ethereum won't make bullrun. Ethereum 2.0 impact could be better for ERC-20 tokens. Single Bitcoin didn't pump during halving, altcoins also did. Whole cryptocurrency situation will be changed, for the impact of ETH 2.0.

i think it's time to adopt Ethereum before the launch of Ethereum 2.0.
if not now, you will be late, indeed there will be no late time.
but in the future it will be very difficult to get ethereum at a pretty cheap price.

the launch of the ethereum POS system will definitely be a big boost to ethereum prices and will likely reach $ 500 and up. indeed we should not get your hopes up, but it doesn't hurt if we have little hope. the decision is in the hands of each of us, we ourselves determine whether to believe it or not.

Everything about Ethereum 2.0 and beyond is speculative and I prefer to be positive on the price that I am going to speculate, we know that Ethereum is always a work in progress and they always adapt so my vote is it will go beyond $2000 and more and I'm sure many people will vote on this price.

Seeing yesterday the hype that occurred due to eth 2.0 will be launched in July even though it is a hoax and could make the price of ETH rise quite high, I think if ETH 2.0 was really launched the price of ETH would be 2x fold from now.

conditions will be different when bitcoin has decreased. moreover, look at some updates from major projects that have already taken place. LTC and BTC, they appear to have made an update but there is no progress in the price of their coins in the market. hopefully, ETH can increase. but if you expect big hype I don't think it will happen in a short time.

as far as I think, from the options given, most likely the price is above $ 500. however, I don't want to expect too high with the imminent development of ethereum 2.0. it's just, I really prepared assets for it. I was quite excited to wait for ethereum 2.0, and the price would be higher if the bitcoin pump was at that time.

I also prepared ETH in my wallet to participate in welcoming the ethereum 2.0 update.
not much hope, because indeed I always liked ETH. but I have confidence that this update will not have a rapid effect on the price of ETH on the market. this requires market adjustments to updates made.

I'm not really hype for Ethereum 2.0 because it will not solve it's centralization. It'll probably just stay like it is while still attached to Bitcoin waiting for Bitcoin to pump before ETH pump. POS has been a thing since 2017 and it's really not much of a new thing. Also, there's a minimum amount to stake ETH and not everyone can afford that.

Seeing yesterday the hype that occurred due to eth 2.0 will be launched in July even though it is a hoax and could make the price of ETH rise quite high, I think if ETH 2.0 was really launched the price of ETH would be 2x fold from now.

I doubt it, really. Unless Bitcoin is to pump while Ethereum hype is still on, then we could see ETH price going up too.

I'll be a bit skeptical about this. Even though ETH 2.0 can't solve its centralization, it still creates some significant moves to gain its position in the market. Right now, a lot of people are hoping that ETH 2.0 actually pulls the market up and brings another bullish season for this year! We can't know for sure but let's see!

The price is not the only thing to have an eye on, it´s the matter of mass adoption and becoming a global industry standard. If they can manage to make 2.0 the backend to go to for big incorporations the price will increase anyway but the effect on the economy well be far more impactful

Yes, I agree. And to put it mildly, ETH recently just broke the $200 mark and has at least stayed there for some time now. Hopefully, a slow but sure rise would give us a clear indication (just like with BTC) sooner rather than later.

As we see and observe today the Ethereum 2.0 hype has brought changes already the Ethereum network now is clogging and the transaction fees were also increasing and it takes time before being confirmed and for me, it's not a good part of Ethereum 2.0 development, Aside from those problems, the migration from "PoW to PoS" has also some issues like the 32 Eth requirements for staking. and other related topics that created a buzz on the Ethereum community.

If ethereum 2.0 will be supporting staking then definitely we can expect it will be having a new ATH in terms of USD (I still doubt ethereum can ever test its old price levels of BTC values). I guess ethereum devs must be waiting for bitcoin to enter into stronger bullish mode to release the next version of ethereum for hype reasons. Yes, when bitcoin into bullish trend like how it was doing in August to November 2017, you can easily attract investors for your coins if you release any positive news.

I understand the ongoing pandemic could be another reason why they are delaying 2.0 version but they must be looking for more perfect market scenario so that they could get their efforts pay them even in short period of time itself. Ethereum 2.0 may not be a game changer but it may remain hot opportunity for some period of time for sure.

Here is an update regarding ETH 2.0 at CT

Quote
Ethereum 2.0 still en route
A long time coming, Ethereum 2.0, or ETH 2.0, still has not yet gone live with the network's transition into proof-of-stake, or PoS, consensus.

The network's blog posted its 12th ETH 2.0 update recently, stating a team hard at work. The update showed a number of main developments, including "new Solidity deposit contract formally verified and added to the bounty program," as well as another Altona testnet version, v0.12, likely hitting at some point over the next several days, the blog post said.

Other details included "continuation grant to Sigma Prime for beacon-fuzz to find all the bugs."

I do not think suggesting people to invest in something is a good idea even when eth looks bullish, most of the community is quite positive about eth and i personally think that if eth network comes up with instant transactions and low fee alongwith pos model the price is going to blast and 2k will look small because 1.4k is last all time high so expect next peak to be much higher maybe 3.5 to 5k. Everyone has his own thinking and i am sure everyone does what they think is best for them.

Eth 2.0 is not just a upgrade it is a complete evolution of the whole eth network into a new and highly efficient network that will fit the current and future needs of the market and the network, not only it will result in the change of algorithm from pow to pos but it will solve the major scalability issues as well and so on it will also solve the inflationary and supply issues of eth and will convert into a truly deflationary coin, so the future potential is huge and i see eth growing multiple multiple times in the future.

It is quite hard to predict the possible price of ETH after implementing its upgrade since we do not know how much is the price of  ETH by that time.  It is for sure will bring hype to the market, and if by then a pump group will trigger a spike in ETH price, it is possible that it can double in price because of the positive sentiment, hype, and the possibility that FOMO may trigger.  But it can also go the other way since

Title: Re: Ethereum 2.0 and its impact?

I do not think that it will have a new ATH because the ATH stands around 1.5k and that is way too far ahead, even if price is 300 dollars by that time we are talking about a x5 increase and I doubt that price could go up that much, it surely will go up but I doubt it would be that much. That is why I think a realistic approach would be to assume ethereum will hit around 500 to 800 dollar levels, which is half to 1/3 of what ATH was and it would still be awesome for ethereum.

It is around 250 dollars right now and what we are talking about is not reaching x6 of the current price but reaching x2 or x3 which is not really that bad if you ask me. That is why ethereum 2.0 will increase the price of ethereum a ton, however I believe it will also affect all the other coins as well with new money coming into market as well.

Yeah, it's quite hard to predict because as we can see that the price of majority in altcoins is based on the movement of Bitcoin dominance.
It's very unstable in the market and providing our own speculation broadcast might not give accurate results as we expected.

When Ethereum volume 2.0 will successfully be launched, I believed there's a lot of changes for sure. Just like fees and might also the Ethereum miners will have a little adjusting with the current network operated. Just one thing that comes up in my mind, is this the time that Ethereum will not depend on the Bitcoin dominance?

I think that you should aware if the result of price will be reflected the demand that has already gotten by ethereum.

More demand means massive adoption too and this will actually affect the price of ethereum itself. They aim to be massively adopted by all people and companies.

For now we could say that hype will turn on eth 2.0 when it will launch. So many people anticipating that it could rise high and I think there's actually a chance even surpassing its previous ATH. During the last bull run almost everyone got profits due to eth reaching 1k usd, and this is due to hype of ICOs now, technically the network will undergone a total renovation and PoS will be the trend of the year for eth. For me its gonna be positive and looking forward to its improvement.

I believe so! ETH 2.0 will create another altcoin season or another bullish season for the market. Most people say that ETH depends on the changes of BTC but actually, ETH can affect the market itself. Since it has been around the market for a long period of time, ETH has certain roles and effects that probably has the ability to affect the market!

it is impossible to even imagine. It is possible that the launch of ETH 2.0 will not even affect the price, because the whales have already purchased a large amount of coins for staking and I will receive passive income.

Did you read this?
https://github.com/ethereum/eth2.0-specs

Let me make it real simple for you:

Ethereum 2 Phase 0
No smart contract support, all processes will pass in ETH 1.0
Validators will lock their ETH and will validate rewards to each other in ETH 2.0.

Ethereum 2 Phase 1
No smart contract support, all processes will pass in ETH 1.0
Shards will be added, this will slightly increase the throughput in the ETH 2.0

Ethereum 2 Phase 2
Sharding with smart contracts support
How long? Will this work with other smart contracts?
..
I already wrote about the phases of Ethereum 2.
Phase 0 and Phase 1 will not add significant changes to the speed of transactions. And the transition to phase 2 can take a very long time. I see that most users do not understand the nuances of ETH 2.0
We will still see a lot of speculation on the news.

I can remember Vitalik refute the July rumour of ETH 2.0 launch but have we now gotten the exact date for the launch ?

https://blog.ethereum.org/2020/06/23/eth2-quick-update-no-12/
"Altona v0.12 testnet
Ever since the release of spec version v0.12, client teams have been hard at work updating and testing their codebases in preparation for public testnets."

Phase 0 is still in the testing phase, so in 2020 we are unlikely to see the launch of ETH 2.0. I’m no longer waiting for official announcements about the start of POS for 2020.

The issue I have with this Ethereum 2.0 is the different phases this migration is going to take, it is possible we wont see much price growth unlike the whole migration to Eth 2.0 is complete but I feel Ethereum have the potential of touching $3k in the coming bull market

You cannot be sure that they already bought what they needed to buy. In fact, that is not enough determinant, whether it will pump, or not. Even if it pumps, it will be of great advantage to the whales and others like.
I am still optimistic about the launch and it is possible we see a remarkable difference.

Oh man that's a huge number to expect! Personally, I believe ETH can reach and hold the price of $1k in the near future thanks to its ETH 2.0 launching. One of the reason is that people are hoping for a bullish season. They have a lot of confidence in the event so they keep holding ETH. More and more people are going to buy ETH to prepare for the upcoming event! Let's wait!

After learning that the update with ETH is going to two different phase, I also thought the growth will take slower since people will still wait if the update is working well, and see if the next update will become more effective for them.

$3k is not that much for the bull run since we are talking about the next BIG bull run. Let's hope that no more delays with the update, and let's hope that the team are more ready to face the challenges of the market and the updates. I'm still holding with ETH, I know its worth to hold!  :D

very high prediction. we don't know the extent to which ethereum 2.0 will bring ethereum prices, and I expect big at thousands of dollars. it's just that, for now, I want to predict based on reality, even for $ 400 for a start is a pretty good goal. if the potential for ethereum can indeed reach thousands of dollars, then ethereum prices before the end of the year will approach that price.

The price can rise for several common reasons:

1. Increase in demand for a coin
2. Reduction in the number of coins in circulation

https://i.ibb.co/s6D2cWM/2.png (https://ibb.co/9VfNBZC)
"1.Ethereum 2 phase 0;
2.EIP-1559;
3.The end of mining; and
4.Ethereum 2 phase 2."

https://www.attestant.io/posts/charting-ethereum-issuance/

And after phase 2 we can see 1 and 2 reason, but it’s very difficult to say how long Phase 2 will start.

One crypto platform that many are interested in and following right now is the grade of the ethereum platform to Ethereum 2.0. Much hype is given to it but I think it is rightfully so. The development of ethereum like sharding is not a new idea but Eth 2.0, I think, will be first to implement it. Then there is the proof of stake reward system. These will be a major development to the platform and Im sure many will support.
