Title: What or how does it feels to grow in rank?!
Post by: CryptocurencyKing on July 07, 2020, 12:34:37 AM
The forum is quite an otherly and well moderated one such that one with the mindset of boosting in ranks regardless of what he or she posts is an abolished fantasy which is commendable. It ensures purity of the forum, lives no room for ambiguous rubbish and motivates newbies to think, research and understand what the forum and world of Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency and other alternate cryptos are all about. Each time you want to type, it's just got to be the right content and if you don't, you can barely grow in rank. Hence, these lives a lot of we newbies in wonder how it really feels.
Have you ever wondered what it felt like to grow in rank?
That's a question for the newbies as I am myself one. This question has and still puzzles my mind on how it really feels. I guess a lot of you with ranks now where once in these shoes. I guess I'll find out in time by experience soon enough how it does feel. In the meantime, how about some you guys tell us, how you really felt.
We would love to hear it!
How about experienced

The onus is on merit sources to distribute merits fairly to any post of what I'll call standard quality...

You do, however, spend a lot of time on bounties and I'm not against that but you might want to try and make more posts in bitcoin related sections if you want to rank up but you might want to search for the reason you want to rank up here first?

If you continue with good intent then it will be easier to rank up, I wouldn't keep trying to search for it though if you are doing because it's possible to overdo stuff if you're not natural and are just trying to rank up it may look obvious...

If you're here for the content: It feels as insignificant as having your birthday. While you might somewhat celebrate it, in the end, nothing changes. You're just a bit older.

If you're here to make money: Somewhat a bit like a job promotion.

But yea, good luck ranking up if like 95% of your posts are concerning bounties.

I'm very happy, if rank go up. This means the post is useful for some people in this forum. This is happiness and pride. I learned from the senior post. Merit system is very influential for this forum, just look at this time, many quality posts in this forum.

While more you grow you open more doors in this environment. The people don't trust in a new account but they trust in the old ones because they already have enough time to fuck it up, and if they don't do it is because they are focused in the right way.

Getting Merits is not that tough as it sounds, you only need to concentrate on sharing quality information in this forum. I have seen many forum members who have earned merits just by sharing their knowledge and by creating quality topics.

You have to create topics that have information that will benefit the forum members. Merit is a kind of appreciation that you get when you have done a good job for the community. Everyone loves appreciation

Ranking up with this forum is such a good feeling, it makes you feel good whenever you rank up with this fun because it is considered as your achievement because you have work for it for many years, you put effort and time for it so you deserve to be happy when you rank up with this forum. Forum ranks show how good are you so if you have a high rank, you are really good and you already gain so much knowledge and experience here. As of my current rank, I can say that I am not that so good as others because I am still learning, there are still many things that I don't know.
The onus is on merit sources to distribute merits fairly to any post of what I'll call standard quality...
The merit system makes this forum so good and cannot be compared to other forums, it makes us put effort and time to the post that we are going to create, it also builds so many good characteristics.

I do not consider this a quality post but I am giving you merit so it could be a reason for you to keep motivated to learn in this forum. This is one way I think to help newcomers in this forum keeping them away from shitposting.

Be an asset of this forum and not a liability. Just always remember that words.

Starts to feel great as soon as you get past Sr. Member imo. :) It's mostly the fact that you start realizing you're slowly getting into the rank groups where there are some members you have always looked up to. Otherwise, nothing much. It feels like an eternity for a shitposter to get rankups, but once you get how it works and stay here for the community & not for bounties/campaigns, you should be doing fine.

Ranking up gives a lot of overwhelming odds to your self because it reflects the hard work and the number of contents too are giving to our forum by that you can participant into different campaigns and still if you think that the rank up is easier it is not because it takes time allotment. before you reach the specific rank you want and as a newbie, you must need to have at least one merit to rank up and it is easier to do up to the member because it requires only up to 10 merits unlike the full member up to legendary.

One of the best ways to earn merit is creating content because if you make a topic that helps other people there is a lot of merit sources out there that can help you out to rank up and meet the requirements you needed.

Before I was a shit poster like the others and struggling to earn merit and this is my first post. Rank up (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5235121.msg54088653#msg54088653) and by the time goes by I want to catch up with the dream of a full member because simply I want to have my personal avatar it takes time before I reach this rank it took five (5) months before I get a lot of merits just on that dream on the first pace of rank of Jr member to Member is just the easiest way to earn merit because you only need is just 10 merit but in full member, rank is one of my biggest struggles to earn merit I create of threads and hopefully most of those got merit to help me out close to my dream.

And one day I come up with the idea to make a game which is the Bitcointalk game (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5251833.0) and unexpectedly this game becomes popular and many people like and play and especially give merit to achieve my goal.

It is better to set a goal every time so you have a motivation, but when I see most of your contents you are focusing into bounties I'm not against with it but if you still continue that being dependent on finding a good bounty, you cannot reach the higher rank as soon as possible .

Taking that with one merit and thirty activities a newbie move up to junior member rank, if the newbie is constant and consistent they can get luck to getting a single merit -brushing aside there posts quality bad or good-.
I think ranking up for me is exciting and interesting not only for the packages that comes with a new rank
 +better signature
+ avatar -full member +
+ Opportunities to get a higher pay
+ Can contribute in board that you weren't before -full member +
But the sense of a new juncture comes a new dare to raise the bar. Is not about ranking up -some ranked up because of airdropped merit and more- but knowing you are on a new rank.
To me ranking up is a about changing -for the better- doing more that you did last

Just balance out your posting history so that it does not overwhelm with bounty reports and I’m sure you’ll start moving-up the ranks. A heavy bounty related history kind of goes against the ranking system nowadays, and where before you could become a Legendary without creating any decent content, not that is not so.

In terms of ranking-up, I got a weird feeling reaching Sr. Member, as the appellative seemed to click in my mind an association with old age. Hero Member seemed overly exaggerated in relation to any of my doings, and the remaining rank seems tremendously pompous in my view. I kind of go contra-natura here I guess …

I don't feel anything in particular, but in most cases, people's perception about you changed instead. I remember I was called out a few years ago, "just a Member", when I tried to make a guide on how to make a nice thread. While that's not really the right thing to do, I imagined it will be different if I was a Legendary or Hero at that time.

Might be different if you need to rank up for money though, as some have mentioned above.

I felt great when I ranked up. It's the same experience as when we get promoted to a higher level in our job. It increases more responsibility and more enthusiasm to post.

If there was no merit system and no rankings, then there would have not been much interest to post actively in the forum.

After achieving every milestone here its just not like that you will enjoy the taste of your own rankup alone where i think who helped you through suggestions, proper guidelines and valuable merits they also get happy to see you in a new rank. Even new community users also get inspiration from your achievement which help them to make their bitcointalk journey noticeable. Ranking up is not only like that you are going to get opportunities of joining signature, bounties or anything else. I think it create new identity for you which is priceless.

I can tell you that still i miss my old days like others and it will remain same for me. You can take a look here where i expressed my feelings with everyone after achieving Sr rank; Road to hero membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5175557.0)

If there was no merit system and no rankings, then there would have not been much interest to post actively in the forum.
Indeed, the merit system challenges me for real. You know the feeling of posting as hard as you can and then go to your profile the moment you log in once again to know whether you able to get at least a single merit or not? That's what I feel most of the time. So thrilling! It makes my heart skip a beat ;D. Though I don't get merits sometimes but that's fine with me, getting nothing doesn't make me hate this forum. It actually encourages me to grind harder because I'm not really contented with 71 merits. I want to have more.

The wide variety of topics here is also one of the main reasons why I'm still interested in this forum. It really tests my brain to cope in various discussions. I'm used on solving math problems and thought it was the hardest to understand but d*mn economics and technology (mainly crypotocurrency) is more complex lol. I'm still a newbie when it comes on those topics that's why I remain eager to stay here to contimue learning :D.

Of course, you will be happy since you have achieved something but that feeling will only remain for a short time. After that, things will be the same as before. It's like the same feeling working hard for homework, and after getting a satisfying score, you wipl be happy because it just shows that someone appreciated your hard work.  But after that, it will just become part of your journey since what really matters is the thing you have learned from doing the homework, not the score you got but it will also encourage you to do even better.

You can also earn merit if you know you are deserving of one, you just need to give quality in your post. Soon, you will also be able to know how it feels. Good luck.

This question strife to my inner mind as it hit on my eyes, bitcointalk journey wouldn't be an easy journey if you create your mindset of earning money, it is very easy if your mind is set for sharing knowledge, through quality posting, then you good to go. Many newbies failed to understand this at all costs that's why many dropped out from the community.

Moreover, your activities are full of bounty reports which will really deprive you of earning merits here in the community. You can take a look at my bitcointalk journey testimony from zero to member.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5257402.0

Ranking up starts with a warm feeling in your toes, then it works its way up your legs and when it reaches the mid section your bowels let go. Pray you don't rank up when on a plane.

When you hit legendary the process is randomised which adds to the excitement as you never know when it'll happen.

I ranked up before the the merit system was introduced when it was much easier. You didn't have to do anything other than stick around shitposting enough junk for enough time. I can imagine people who ranked up entirely from merit earned must find it a very satisfying process.

If there was no merit system and no rankings, then there would have not been much interest to post actively in the forum.

Many are here for money and the only reason they're concerned with rank is the opportunities to make more of it that it brings. If you didn't need rank for that I doubt many would care at all.

These replies make me want to start chasing for a high rank in this forum! Honestly interesting to see everyone's unique stories on how they joined the forum and ranked up throughout the years.

What for do you need high rank? You can chat and use forum with any rank. Only newbies have to wait a bit before  making a new post. Also, you can fully use forum only by reading it and without even being registered.

High ranks only profit from bounties, but bounty times are gone. There now highly paid bounties anymore. You can wear a signature as an act of support. For this, Jr.Member is enough ;)

From my perspective, ranking up so far felt both good and bad. Of course, I enjoyed earning my first merit, which helped me leave behind the Newbie rank, and also all the other merits which brought me to a Hero rank even since I was Full Member. But to he honest, I felt best when I was a Full Member and I think that another rank I'll enjoy a lot will be the Hero rank.

I don't like too much the Sr. Member and Legendary ranks as I feel like being old lol. But that's just a personal impression. I am Sr. Member since April 2020 and it feels like I am a very old man. And I believe I'll have the same feeling once I'll achieve the Legendary rank. Maybe I'll start a new account by then, to have another challenge. Maybe an account to use on my mobile phone, like GazetaMobile (I took this idea from LoyceMobile).

The Hero rank sounds great - like being a true hero :) But Sr. Member sounds like a grumpy old man and Legendary as an even older man.

I had to rank from Hero to Legendary after the merit system introduction, and it was a little fun to finally reach the highest rank, especially considering that I had to get 500 merit, but overall it was nothing too exciting. I'm looking forward towards celebrating when I'll earn 1000 merit, so I will be able to consider myself a self-made Legendary, but I don't do anything special to earn merit - I don't try to make high-effort posts, guides, translations, etc.

It is a matter of pride to take one's account to a better position. You must get merit to get the account in good condition and the prerequisite of Merit is to post you very well and meaningfully. You need to have a very good knowledge or idea about the topic you are going to write. In this way it is possible to take an account to a better position. Focus on your spelling and grammar. Write in a language that everyone can easily understand.

There was a time when it was much easier to take the account into a good position. Ever since the merit system was introduced, it has not been as easy as before. You must have the ability to post well developed posts otherwise you can't do anything here now. Know well first then post. It is not possible to improve your account rank without good quality posts. Currently moving a new account to the highest level really hard thing.

Indeed. It was easier back in the days to make your account rank up as long as you are very active in this forum. But as you have said, since the merit system introduced, it has been hard to make your account rank up or make it in a high position because you need to make a good quality post that will help other members in engaging in cryptocurrency.

Actually, the issue of ranks came later, I was more than a year doing eventual posts, for me the posts are the most valuable in any forum before anything, of the forums where I was in my beginnings even before the XXI, the Contribution was paramount, adding value to an existing conversation was essential, wanting to make repeated contributions made in your words, it was simply erased, the moderators of that time were not moderators, they were dictators, but they were also formators.

If you understand that, it is essential to grow, generally the moderators are of great help, since their actions as I said are a very fair measure of your work in each sector of the forum where you participate.

With that idea, I came to the forum so much so, that not if someone has done it but far from celebrating my first merit, what I did was celebrate my post 100 very happily, seriously, today I think that my local board must have thought that does this guy celebrating his post 100. (laughs)

Nowadays I alternate my celebrations of getting my 100 post (I still keep updating the post) with those of getting the merits and I still think that in my case reaching 1000 post will mean something incredible and if they have the added merit, well!... welcome nM.

Just put common sense to each post, think about the contribution before simply launching your opinion, although a forum is written participation, there must always be something that must be useful to the discussion, not always one achieves it, but perhaps the Merits be your coaching indicator of how you are doing it.

Finally:You are not only excited by your results but also by your colleagues, look at this graph:

It stopped and minimized spamming from new members, and people are motivated to contribute useful post in the forum merits has become a big help for the whole community,

It has cut down on the spam posted by people in low grade sig campaigns simply because many of them can't gain the rank to get on them.

But members often keep plugging away with crappy posts for years somehow believing their genius will be recognised without addressing why they're not progressing.

No one needs to be a genius or scholar to gain merit, they just have be a little thoughtful about their approach here. What's clear is that most are spray and pray and are too stupid or idle to get beyond that.

It will somehow depend on how you really achieved the merits you have for a certain rank. It feels sweeter when your really work hard for the merits, prouder when you really acquired certain sets of knowledge reading through the topics, confident when you know you contributed to a certain topic with a quality post.

I think it will always differ with the investment you gave getting that rank. One good investment is time, spend time reading a lot here. Learn and try to get knowledge here, its literally everywhere.

I have felt an increase in account ranking 5 times so far because I am a new user after the merit system was launched in the forum. I feel amazing when I can reach a new rank because it is the result of hard work and my consistency in posting thing that are useful for the community. I have received 527 merit during my forum trip since 2018 and now I am on my way to Legendary ranking which still requires 473 merit.

Although lately my merit earn has decreased but I will not give up and say that as a form of failure I made a useful post. Regarding merit, I think it really depends on the user rating for the post we made and I just tried for it and let them evaluate it.

We're quite the same. I'm already a Sr. Member even before the merit system began. Though I don't get merits that much, I don't lose heart. It's just a reminder that I have to do better.

But when the time comes for me of ranking up, our reaction would be the opposite. If you would have a calm face expression, I'd surely be ecstatic and wear a really big smile on my face. For all I know, I could possibly cry because of too much happiness! That moment is just something worth celebrating for me. ;)

That moment is just something worth celebrating for me. ;)
You are lucky to get the airdropped rank and merit. From what I see, users from old era often are worse in merit earning. I don't know why that happens because they joined the forum earlier, spent more time here and they have better knowledge and they should earn more merit than new era members.

I have my feeling that it is more easily acceptable if one person start and has to face with challenges, then through time and challenge adaptation, he will grows well and is more comfortable with such challenge. On the other hands, if one person start with something easy, he will have bad feelings and struggle to adapt to later challenges.

Talking about how it felt for me is really an overwhelming feeling. Im started to used this forum 2017, and it took me 2 years before I start to post like a normal person who doesn't thinking of airdrops and bounties. This where Ive started anf my focus upon joining but I realized thats not how you live up here in forum. I was a member rank that time, and everytime I almost near the goal of ranking up, its makes me feel so happy that you can say " Oh shit, I almost there, all the hardworks of creating valuable topics is worth it".

I already had high rank when merit system was launched, so I haven't rank up yet, despite that I earned over 350 merit, so I can't tell how it feels. I still need almost 150 merit :D.
At least, there is an upcoming rank that awaits for you dude. Im sure even you mentioned youre not emotional, there always a bit of it that will gives you satisfaction of a long accumulation of merits.

Since it is not easy to rank after the implementation of merits, getting ranked up bring a lot of pleasure, happiness and inner satisfactions as we get a feeling that we deservedly ranked up.
I remember that when i ranked up from member to full member, i gave treat to all my friends and could not forget that day.  :)

Whether or not it is easy to rank-up depend on the ability and desire of the user himself. If users want to go up in rank, the main thing to do is to improve the quality of post consistently. It wasnt easy at first, but if you start to get used to posting quality thing then you will feel better and you will definitely get merit as a bonus from other users.

For some users who have special abilities I think they will find it easier to achieve new ranking because there are many people who value their work and they are project detectives of fraud or cheating. Most of them will get support and award in the form of merit for every work they do. They also have the potential to become DT member and not infrequently they have more merit than activity. Then I also felt that the local board was a good place to get easier merit because of good language mastery. If you find it difficult to get merit on the global board, it doesnt hurt you to try to focus on the local board.

I admire those users who are really good in understanding technical terms about the tech behind btc, I always read their topics and post and I may understand parts of it--However, sometimes when it got to the point of being too technical, I am getting left behind. Maybe I still need to read more about it. There are newbies who are really good too, maybe their course and interest are really connected to this technology.

Also agree that language proficiency can help them get merits on the local boards, but there are those poster who are good in the language but still post non sense post. I think it will really show if the user doesn't really have something to say about a topic.

to be honest:
feels good for one day but the next day you'll feel like nothing changed.
in the end of the day ranking up  here is pretty simmilar to earning more money or suceeding in other parts of life:
provide more value, solve more problems, and you'll have more sucess.

but life is not about it.
at least not only that.
the meaning is deeper.

It really makes you happy when you reach a certain rank here in the forum but at the same time, it would really take a bit of hard world especially you need to earn merits in order to rank up.

But I guess getting the knowledge, learning here in the forum really is the best experience aside from ranking up, it's not really a competition ranking up so there is no pressure.

I haven't been easy since the introduction of the merit system but I was very happy when I received my first merit and I'm sure that's how others feel too when they earn merit on their post.

Making helpful topics has made me earn good merits but lately, I haven't earned much merits because I have been somehow lazy about making topics like I used to. I'm good when it comes to making good topics.

In the beginning I also just posted the usual to rely on posts in the signature of altcoin and can be called shitpost at this time but after I received 1 merit that made me wake up and think of how to get more merit and I finally learned it and used it post relevant and there I have found how the use of this forum is very useful with there merits.

And after knowing how to report a plagiarism project or scamer, I was there on average getting merit and now I have reached 100 merit, this is a pride for me after all I did. :D

Here is an account of the place of emotion which cannot be measured in terms of money. It is as dear to many as their own child. It's a place of feeling that works well as the child improves when he grows up. It may not be the same for everyone. Improving my account gives me another level of joy that cannot be expressed in words.

Getting a bit hot and heavy there.

If people here lost the account they had progressed with, would they start again and build another one?

I don't think I could be arsed myself. A man or woman can only brush the face of immortality and unfettered genius a few times in their life.

since we're getting philosophic, it's worth to remember that true happiness comes from within.
main sources of happiness are intrinsic and not extrinsic

relying on things that are out of you to bring you joy is, quite often, a trap.

It feels good but for me, I don't care if I don't grow in rank as long as my knowledge and experience are growing that is enough. Ranks do not really represent your real status here. There are newbies that are better than legendary. If you have a goal to step up your rank, better do not think about it. Think about how you can learn more by just by reading and communicating with others, merits is just a bonus.

Op you can not feel it if thousand of people explain here their feelings about rank up. Only you can feel it when you will achieve it.

Before the merit system, the feeling was not so crazy like after the merit system comes. But when I achieve it last time from Sr to hero I can not explain my feelings. because it is not writable indeed. You are now a jr member here, so you have many rooms to feel this feeling. Give your effort hope you will also feel this.

If am making it, as in growing my rank week by week or let's say day by day... I will really have this feeling that am turning out to be a back bone to those who definitely don't understand anything about Crypto. And so to educating my self.

adding to it:
social status is a joke/game some people agree on playing
but we can always opt out.

in the end the biggest battle is within ourselves, who cares if you have a ferrari or no car at all.

I always remember this quote by Jim Carrey:
“I wish everyone could get rich and famous and everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that's not the answer.”

improving ourselves is one of the answers.

so: first learn and deliver value here.
your ranking will grow
but this is not the goal, it is the consequence.

At first when the service system was implemented I was very pessimistic and it was impossible to reach the Rank Hero Member.

The service system makes a very significant difference in this forum. I feel proud when I am able to reach the rank of Hero with my own hard work by making quality and relevant posts.

By becoming a quality forum member and contributing to this forum, everything will be easy. Merit will approach our account and our posts will be respected by other members. I am very lucky to be a part of this forum. These feelings cannot be spoken in words, because this is an extraordinary achievement for me.

Anything in life or in forum whatever it may be, Be it small or big success is always special . Beacuse you have earn it to reach that level and always it has many struggles in between or challenges and when all that is cleared you reach on other side. Just keep taking one step at a time and surely I am optimistic we will also grow from our present rank and each to next level in coming time .

You're so on point. In my experience, the best way to rank up here on the forum is to be original. Don't chase the merits and it'll come to you. You just have to be original and contribute actively. Because if you do put merits as your end point, you easily become frustrated when you aren't getting as much merits s you feel you should.

@OP, The feeling is almost the same for everyone. You get to feel very much fulfilled. You also feel good about yourself. The feeling of accomplishing a feat.

Being original is a choice. Many beginners are not too concerned with how original they are. The feeling of growing up as a beginner and then moving up the rank by being original is a satisfaction and being proud of being able to reach the highest rank.

Contributing actively by being original will bring services to our account, without the need to pursue services again. It turns out that getting services is very easy, just need to actively contribute to the forum and become a good poster is good enough.

I think one can be original if he already had the knowledge, being original will naturally come when you are just sharing your knowledge with others without even trying so hard. So I think the best way to be original is to read a lot, learn a lot, watch a lot. When you already learn a lot, you can now pinpoint what's lacking in a topic, you can also have your own idea about it. You can share the knowledge easily and it will be original because it really comes from you, not a copy paste from an article you read a while ago. You already have it and confident with it cause you know you have read it a lot from different sources.

Hey, Buddy, growing in tank here is good experience and mostly gives a signal of joy in member. Feeling grateful for a good post and got merited is a sign of achievement and grateful. Many newbies here find it hard or rather think ranking up is just a rocket science but it isn't like that. You get can as many merit as you want if only you create quality and contributing posts that will absolutely deserve merit. I feel so renounced and more experienced in blockchaim and cryptocurrency as my rank grows up here. I'm at member rank because of the little experience I had had about this forum, crypto space and blockchain as a whole.

Sure, it feels great now that ranking up requires significant post, hardwork, effort, and whatnot. Unlike before, you just need to make bunch of post that you didn't even think whether if it really makes sense on the entirety of a certain discussion. And just wait for your activity to count up, yeah time is the only hindrance you have, and you just have to stand by for you to step next up  :D.

So, as much as you can, try to be significant. But bear in mind that you might not get merits as frequently as you think so  :P. Well, eventually, someone would notice you and your efforts, either way.

LOL, I have been through in this stage and so far I never get any merits having a jr. member in rank when I join the forum. And then new rules was implemented and that is the merit system to which I remember I was demoted to newbie for not getting any merits. Then I have left the forum since then after getting 10 merits I guess.

However, I miss bitcoin since I had made holdings on it before I left. I became coward to huge lossess. I learn my lesson and I guess it is a time also to try again. As they say try and try until you succeed. LOL..

Maybe we should leave them up and continue on our activities here.

Optimism is something that can help you achieve your goal. When you believe in yourself and the potential you have, you will try to apply it. We all have different interest and that is a sure thing. If you want to be a good member of the forum, then you should try as much as possible to post things that are of good quality so that ranking is a guarantee for you to achieve it.

Many motivational thread from user who have achieved their new rank so far that inspires us. To be honest, I am very jealous of what they can achieve so now I am motivated to do what they do and that is "improving the quality of post and contribution". I only have 1 rank left to reach and that is Legendary and I am very confident that one day I will be able to achieve it with my effort and hard work.

I have managed to get 129 merit so far because of my interest to be a good user and contribute and I am very happy because many people welcomed my good intention. I only need 371 more merit to reach the highest ranking "Legendary" on the forum and of course I really need the attention and help of other user here. I dont post just to get merit but I just do what I have to do and let people judge for themselves about the quality of my post.

I guess I'll find out in time by experience soon enough how it does feel. In the meantime, how about some you guys tell us, how you really felt.
We would love to hear it!
How about experienced

High rank is nothing if you have a bad reputation the most important thing is you are trusted and you are not involved in dubious and spamming activities and you are continuously contributing to the health of this forum, you will eventually rank if you are clean and contribute a lot.

as a member that doesn't really create(maybe just having a hard time) a high-quality post every time and only getting merited from time to time, I get a happy sensation that someone deemed my post either high quality(most probably not), helpful, funny, constructive, etc..  anyway, I'd probably feel proud if I get the necessary merit for legendary even if it takes a very long time to happen.

Probably you should always ask yourself why I came to the forum? Most of the people who have a high-rank came to the forum for knowledge about Bitcoin. Look at their registration date. I'm talking about a time before 2017. These people truly believed and do believe in Bitcoin, and I consider them to be a good example for me.

In another case, a rise in rank is needed to participate in subscription campaigns or bounty, and this raises many questions. Is it right to count every post you create just to get merit?

In fact, there is an irony of life, when we give something unselfishly, but in this case, we benefit the forum, write useful articles, then the increase in rank occurs imperceptibly. The main thing is not to dwell on this, and everything will come at the right time for you.

It really differs on each person on what goal that person is trying to achieve. Some are proud because they achieve higher rank by helping other person about the problems they have experiencing. Some are looking to earn by doing some services so it depends on what will be your feelings when achieveing higher rank or a new milestone.

So many here are on second option which is to make money and it's more like a job promotion for them, more stakes because they are going to have a big chunk of the allocation in the signature campaign, and having many merits also means their ticket to campaign that pays Bitcoin weekly.

It's been a 3 years since I found out this forum and way back then growing your rank was not that tough because all you need to do is make a ton of post and wait for your activity to update for you to able to step up. However, in today's new kind of ranking system, you must have obtain an enough amount of merit  for you to able to step up in a new rank. This new rule only imply that you must have create an interesting yet informative quality post for you to receive a merit. Now having these merit will brought out our effort to make some quality post, so that as that time comes for us to rank up this all effort will be worth.

The merit system applied in the forum has two perception in my opinion. Some user will think that this system is the biggest barrier to ranking and of course they are right because only user who dont want to change their post habit (low quality post, spam) will feel the impact and they will forever be ranked the same because there are no post who deserves an merit.

The second perception I mean is that some user will be motivated to learn and change their bad habit for the better by learning, improving the quality of post and continuing to find creative ideas channeled through posting normally. They will never complain or even think too much about merit because basically merit will not prevent anyone from going rank-up if they are able to contribute. The confidence and potential we have is important and continuing to try to be better is a surefire way to achieve success.

You get freedom in your profile settings, can post images, no few minutes barrier between comments. But eventually you get habitual to your account and feels like everyday thing.

I ranked up when there is till no merit but I feel excited to reach another rank because back then things are easy all you need are posts and activity and ranking up will just happen, those who needs merit to rank up are more excited because they need more work more motivation and have to find ways how to acquire more merits and be innovative in doing so.

I thought the whole idea of the merit-system was to get awarded for making quality posts, you make those the merits will follow. If it is about thinking of strategies to acquire more I think it defeats the original purpose. Just my two cents..

When your rank is upgraded, you will feel satisfied and willing to work harder than before. I have been struggling to get merit points in order to make my account better by providing useful content to the rest of the members. We should not make our primary goal only. Upgrading the account we must also take advantage of other topics and login.  In serious discussions, over time our account will be upgraded

Having your first merit is projects a feeling of your actually doing something and your now being noticed and appreciated for it. Growing in rank on the other hand is like a lip unto the light and motivates you to think and post quality.

I won't go far to reading of what you wrote down here, so as not to pick out some errors (grammar errors)😂😂🤣 but. In my own terms growing in a rank is a beautiful thing and mostly it shows am contributing specifically to the forum helping those who really needs understanding.

Ranking up really does feel great. Specially if you worked hard to attain it.
It is an achievement to grow even more. There will be more opportunities that awaits you every step that you've made.

Personally, I want to rank up here, but I know I cannot achieve it if my contents are very low in quality.
So as much as I can, my posts should get better as I make more.

You guys should do it too, if you want to rank up, make quality post, some people will appreciate it and add merits on it that is a big help to you on ranking up.

For me growing rank up in this forum is really very very hard because no one is going to send you merit's freely.
I mean no one is going to send  you merit without any  good effort from you.
So Ranking up in this forum is the best moment and it feels like someone wins World cup.

For a fact, nothing good comes easy! Else, non of us would have loved to struggle over anything. You just have to know that we are our own competition, we have to compete with our lazy self everyday, the part of us that always makes us feel as though we can't level up with the others, as if we can't get it right. The part that says others had an edge over you and so they got it easier. So it might always seem but then, they made use of the available information and resources at their disposal which was quite limited not like we have enough now but it's okay. We just have to flow with the tides we find ourselves in.
Keep testifying and get motivated.

If you follow the path you will reach on the other side and if you ready to go the extra mile then just create your own path and surely the other side might be unexplored and something new which you will be discovering it. Just do your best and share the knowledge so that those who are unaware knows it and rest of the thing will help us to learn and re-learn without much worrying about the rank.

Bitcoin market capital is small just 200 B but it will explode very soon. Based on bitcoin other crypto will also grow. I am here to learn some lesson about cryptocurrency.

The Legendary rank has a special element of uncertainty associated to it, and that is the fact that the specific required Activity is unknown by the account, being somewhere in between the range of 775 and 1030 (*). That’s a pretty wide range, that leaves these legendary-to-be accounts wondering every fortnight if their Activity will surpass the threshold set for their account.

The longer the wait, the more the thrive I figure, although some accounts, for multiple reasons, seem to have dropped the towel in the process. This is a short list of some of those Hero Members that are waiting for their Activity to chime-in:

That above is a list of Hero accounts that have already surpassed at least half of the required Activity interval, and have yet not reached their personal Activity requirement for Legendary (data as of last Friday).

Note how  @BitCryptex will need to wait until the next Activity window, which should be his last wait (his requires activity is therefore somewhere between 1023 and 1030).

(*) The specific value depends on your UserId:
Just to remind that the Activity required to reach the Legendary rank is a random value that depends on the UserId of the profile, and a secretSeed which, for obvious reasons, we do not have:

<…> Currently this randomness is done with a single SQL query, which is very convenient.

Code:
update smf_members
set ID_POST_GROUP=21
where ID_POST_GROUP=8
and activity>=775 and activity>=775+conv(substr(sha1(concatenate(ID_MEMBER,secretSeed)), 1, 2), 16, 10)
<…>
Note: I had to replace "concat" with "concatenate" in the above quote to be able to publish the post.

There's this joy it brings when ranked up to another level.
If you set your goals right, ranking up won't be an issue. This forum is all about sharing informative and educational knowledge about cryptocurrency.
If you're to pass your ideas or thoughts right for others to learn from, you'll be appreciated upon with a merit.

It took awhile before i actually noticed i was merited. I must say it feels good to know someone sees what you're doing and commend you for contributing to the forum. I love contributing and if merits comes it will be great but not gonna hawk for it as it will defeat the purpose of the forum. I think just relax, be yourself and contribute positively and meaningfully ;)

Yes, this is always feel good when you rank up you alt. But sadly the moment you feelings change from good to bad come quick and you feel the bitter of consequences. I hope this little act of your wont stop you from "contributing" to forum.

I simply don't understand why don't you continue to post with your first account?

Oh that account was restricted, I was a noob and didn't understand how the forum works. I'm sure I won't be the first to be restricted for being naive. It took time for me to understand what the forum is about. I did ask for advice and simply realised its not about just posting something but being meaningful and contributing positively. If I may ask,  what was your purpose for the digging to the past? 😁

This seems a pretty honest answer, but unfortunately you’ve just confessed to being the owner of a banned account (restricted is an euphemism for banned). Being that so, the forum rules state that:

<…> 25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.[e] <…>
<…> 25. If you get banned (temporarily or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.<…>
What that means is that, in an account of a person is banned, so are all his past, present and future account, except for the possibility of using and Alt Account to plead for the case to be revised on Meta (which normally does not get reverted)...

Basically, you need to create a thread on Meta (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0), with a title that helps to identify that you are appealing the ban of a certain account. People normally label the thread something like “Ban Appeal - xxxxx”. The core of the OP should depict the account that was banned, the message you received, the type of ban, and the reasons that you consider that should be considered for the ban to be revoked or mitigated (i.e. signature ban for a certain period of time). You can see what others have done by either using the forum’s search engine, or using google with a search pattern such as:  site:bitcointalk.org ban appeal.

In all fairness, your current account (@celemoore) is technically ban evading, since once one of your accounts is banned, so are all your accounts. Additionally, ban appeals rarely succeed, and it is not unusual for account that appeals to come out scorched...
