Title: Do I get scammed? Post by: Jason212 on July 07, 2020, 01:50:26 PM Hey,
I wanted to buy btc for 150€ paypal and send them the money as friend. So I paid via Paypal 150€ + 3,99 € PayPal fees. He said I send to less and he wanted that I close the order and open a new one with 142€. But he is only accepting 150 € - 350€. After that he is not replying anymore. Do you think I got scammed? I reported to a moderator but I'm still waiting. His ID and mobile Phone is verified. Everything is happened on paxful. Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: minairia3 on July 07, 2020, 02:06:42 PM ~snip Im clueless with your issue, can you bit explain more. From what I udnerstand you are using exchange paxful to get your btc while your payment has been done via paypal right? Based on that scenario, you already give payment but you are not receiving your btc on the exchange right? If thats what happened and he suddenly gone, then you got scammed. Can you show us details of your conversation or any evidence pointing to the one who scammed you. But since you already reported on moderator, it should be taken care of, however if its a p2p transaction then they will not be liable for your loss. You should be careful when dealing with buy and sell, you should used escrow as much as possible. Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: marbru3 on July 07, 2020, 06:56:39 PM Hey, As far I know you can just buy verified Paxful account so the fact that the account is verified actually does not mean that the person has good intentions towards you and others.I wanted to buy btc for 150€ paypal and send them the money as friend. So I paid via Paypal 150€ + 3,99 € PayPal fees. He said I send to less and he wanted that I close the order and open a new one with 142€. But he is only accepting 150 € - 350€. Paypal transactions are very risky and even Paxful pays attention to be careful with such transactions. I suggest to not use Paypal, which is the scammers favorite payment processor. I can't say if you have been scammed, but as someone mentioned earlier - it doesn't look too good. Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: JeromeTash on July 07, 2020, 08:56:54 PM I don't understand the chat very well because of language but it looks like you were tricked and you have been scammed. The scammer probably wanted you to used friends and family as you can not chargeback/ reverse the transaction should a dispute a rise. Paxful support are the only ones that can try to help you in this case.

The thread was not created with the right format, in the first place there is already a deceit by making the transactions for freiends and relatives when the transaction is all about buying and selling, the service transaction is meant to protect buyer and seller in case there is a dispute I don't know if Paypal will allow this,I guess Paxful can help you with this, update us for any outcome. First of all. It is a common method to mark as friend/family on PayPal transaction to minimize the transaction fee. I've done many transaction using PayPal and I always request in that way but of course you need to make sure first the reputation of the person you are going to transact. The only shady behavior here of the Paxful seller was the way he request to cancel transaction and replaced with the new one. If I'm OP, I will definitely not do that because its not included in the terms of there agreement. The danger on paxful is verified account are available on marketplace. I saw several verified paxful account here that selling in digital goods which is quite alarming. Paxful can help OP to retrieve his money if the Paxful user is using his real ID for the verification and not bought account. Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: Jason212 on July 10, 2020, 12:59:03 PM so after some days I can say that I got scammed.
Is here someone buying sometimes at paxful. What should I be care next time? Don't cancel the order until he send me the Coins, but what when he say that I send to less? I should call a moderator then right? regards Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: marbru3 on July 12, 2020, 05:52:57 PM so after some days I can say that I got scammed. Just like you said, don't cancel the order until someone send you the coins, and when someone tolds you that you sent too little money then it's a first red flag.Is here someone buying sometimes at paxful. What should I be care next time? Don't cancel the order until he send me the Coins, but what when he say that I send to less? I should call a moderator then right? regards You can call a moderator if sellers behaviour raises your doubts, but like I mentioned before, Paypal is not safe way to buy Bitcoin. By the way, how many transactions you had so far on Paxful? Scammers usually focus on newbies account's with none or few transactions, because they assume that person doesn't have enough knowledge to protect from fraud. Title: Re: Do I get scammed? Post by: Aveatrex on July 12, 2020, 06:09:38 PM If your paypal is linked to a bank account, ask your bank they might be able to reverse the transaction even if it's friends & family. Your bank is probably your last chance because Paypal won't reverse a f&f transaction if you dispute it. Also dispute the transaction on Paxful, read this article (https://paxful.com/support/en-us/articles/360009626754-Disputes).
