It's strange to me that Binance, Kucoin and other exchange sites didn't protect their Twitter accounts better. After this event even less users will believe them and have faith in their security. What's ridiculous is those aren't fake accounts at all: A number of high-profile Twitter accounts were simultaneously hacked on Wednesday by attackers who used the accounts — some with millions of followers — to spread a cryptocurrency scam. Apple, Elon Musk and Joe Biden were among the accounts compromised in a broadly targeted hack that remained mysterious hours after taking place. Those accounts and many others posted a message promoting the address of a bitcoin wallet with the claim that the amount of any payments made to the address would be doubled and sent back — a known cryptocurrency scam technique. The screenshots OP shared is part of this massive twitter hack. At this point, it's no longer even safe to ask people to verify the accounts they're following. Let's just go with the age old "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is." It's strange to me that Binance, Kucoin and other exchange sites didn't protect their Twitter accounts better. After this event even less users will believe them and have faith in their security. It's not their problem, it's Twitter's: A hacker allegedly behind a spate of Twitter account hacks on Wednesday gained access to a Twitter “admin” tool on the company’s network that allowed them to hijack high-profile Twitter accounts to spread a cryptocurrency scam, according to a person with direct knowledge of the incident. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] Don't Send 0.1 BTC To Get Double In Twitter Post by: KrisAlex18 on July 16, 2020, 08:44:35 AM There is no investment website or platform that will double your money for only a few days, do not fall with that kind of offer, there is no an easy money with crypto talk, you have to work hard for it to achieve those things. Most of all of the website that offers that kind of thing are literally scam, it's their loss once they offer to double your money and there would be no person who will make their business or platform lost. Those big names that we know are now hacked so be careful with them, those owners of the accounts will surely do their things to make it fixed.

Despite of so many warnings about this scheme I dunno why there's still a victim of this repetitive schemes, people should know that there's no shortcut or easy way to get money and their laziness to earn without doing an effort makes them a willing victim and now hopefully those guys will learn there lessons since this scamming attempt will never end as long as there are people who will still try their luck to gain by this kind of risky tactics. Because I believe most of the people that fell victim for those giveaways were not familiar with crypto, some of the accounts that sent tweets about giveaways were unrelated to crypto like Uber, Apple and some others, the little price surge on BTC during the time of the hack also suggests that many even bought bitcoin at that moment to be able to send it to that address to receive double the amount. At the end of the the day Twitter should really now work on its security now because if such incidents or alike happens again it could be the end of Twitter and there will be no comeback from that, even though I think the permanent solution to all these would be only decentralization of social platforms and use of blockchain. That's absolutely right but I don't think this is the proper reason since they can actually do a research so that they will not fall from this scheme. And twitter is not the one who do the job about security of the scams happening in the platform the user itself should take the full responsibilities for their selves so that they will not waste their money for untrue things posted on internet. Too bad that many newbies are still unaware of this infamous scam.
I hope that those scammers will be tracked down and those affected personalities won't stop chasing them. Title: Re: [SCAM ALERT] Don't Send 0.1 BTC To Get Double In Twitter Post by: witcher_sense on July 16, 2020, 12:51:15 PM Meanwhile, Twitter has finally found a way to stop ongoing bitcoin giveaways and Elon Musk doublers. Not really. They are now blocking any information related to bitcoin addresses, block heights, bitcoin explorer links, etc. Services like Whale Alert are no longer able to post tweets regarding movements of large amounts of coins.
Source: https://twitter.com/dldasilvarosa/status/1283727281719050240 I am confident that scammers will find another approach how to reach auditory of naive free money seekers. Nothing is safe on social media right now. So far the hacker managed to get 12 BTC. It's news of yesterday. I don't know the correct amount now, I believe it has been increased. The hacked accounts were such high profile that anyone with less knowledge would believe that it's true and would be the victim. |
