Title: How secured is crypto card?
Post by: yurgee on July 16, 2020, 11:39:21 AM
As Crypto and blockchain continues to gain mainstream adoption, it looks like the payment sector is taking the lead. The other day, Paypal announced its intention to support crypto transactions, and most banks are already loosening some restrictions initially placed on crypto. The future is bright for crypto.

I am looking forward to use my first crypto debit card that will be issued by AXIA. Its my first, I am not yet familiar with one, thus the reason for this thread.

What are the disadvantages and vulnerabilities of crytpo debit card ?
What should people be mindful of while transacting with a crypto debit card?
I am very much interested to know.

They are issued by Visa or Mastercard, so I believe that there are pretty similar terms and conditions for crypto cards. The only feature what is here added is instant swaps between fiat money and cryptocurrencies.  :)

Just treat the card as you would treat your ATM Cards or Master cards, I think security and pass code wise will be nearly the same unless new features are implemented though

when talking about crypto currency card security, of course security is guaranteed, because the Blockhchain system is very safe to store, it's like Ledger or Myetherwallet, so I guarantee it is safe, dont worry

The disadvantage should be on the fees. I never saw any debit card service that has gotten serious problem, especially with the vulnerability.
As long as it's fully audited and it will be safe to be used by everyone.

You should need to know what kind of service that has already used, what about the coverage area that already supported by such service and the last should be the fees.

security wise it's basically the same as your ordinary visa or mastercard, it has the risk of being stolen, or being used by some stranger if they know your number, exp date and security code but it could be solved by using phone verification for each transaction.
if you could choose the most reliable crypto debit card provider I think the security should be a little concern since they usually have 2fa.

I don't own any crypto card but I think one of the disadvantage is got to be the fees. That's what I mostly hear from those owners over the internet or that's just a hearsay.

What should people be mindful of while transacting with a crypto debit card?
I guess your spending habits. The way how you will use your card wisely.

If it's about security it will be more secured than visa card since it's running on the blockchain technology, you don't have anything to be worried about here, I hope PayPal gets into crypto business fast, this will have a negative impact on crypto, be expecting big mass adoption soon

Even if the crypto card is secure, I don't want to use it because I cannot find the local store that accepts crypto. I think the function will be like the credit/debit card, but we can transact using the crypto. But I don't know for sure since I never have the crypto card or I don't try to use it. I prefer to scan the barcode if I want to buy something in a local store, but of course, that store needs to accept the crypto so I can use the crypto to pay the product that I want. Perhaps, that time will come to us to start using the crypto card in a local store in our city.
