Title: thoughts on David Chaum's new cryptocurrency, Praxxis?
Post by: DougM on July 19, 2020, 08:32:50 PM
I am curious what folks think of this new alt-coin?  The fact that David Chaum is behind it is the old reason I am curious.  He had an long crypto history/background. --> "Chaum is known as the father of the first digital currency, Ecash. His 1982 dissertation is also hailed as the inspiration of Satoshi’s bitcoin white paper and the first known work that proposes a blockchain protocol. "

"a new digital currency, Praxxis, that has the security, speed, and scalability to grow into a replacement of physical cash"...the aim of the new digital currency is to serve as a proper payments vehicle, fulfilling Chaum's view of Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision for bitcoin to be a "purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash." ..."Praxxis protocol is also quantum-resistant, meaning that the protocol can survive hacks generated by quantum computers. "

a bit confused, david chaum had two projects, before was elixxir in march this project got funding from ICO reaching $ 17 M and now it looks like the team from elixxir is still focused on developing their project and haven't thought about listing issues on exchange, and now david chaum is making another new project I hope both of these projects can run smoothly.

When I see that the coin is named after its creator, it seems like a pure crap and not a cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency, blockchain and the decentralization behind this technology is what makes it valuable ... Is Bitcoin named after Satoshi Nakamoto? It is not! Is Satoshi affects Bitcoin? No! It is decentralized!

I second the confusion, but I am really just starting to take a look at what Chaum's company is proposing/offering recently so I am really ignorant at this point and interested if anyone has more details.
Can you clarify what your mean by "trade elixxir on exchange"  This article makes it sound like elixxir is the blockchain platform:  Is "Praxxis, is built on Chaum’s Elixxir blockchain platform and will be mainly used for payments"

I knew his Elixxir project and it's possible that he's working for both projects. Projects would love to hire him as part of the team because he is well-reputed person in terms of projects and digital payments.

I haven't yet read the whole content of Praxxis but I think he's up to 'xx' projects as his signature labelling.

I guess if this could be another money grabber project, he has already got a lot of money not only from the crowdsale of elixir but that's also from the private investors from ripple. That looks so crap to see he was creating another crap token lol

l actually  see that they make a campaign earlier this year but they decided to stop it for unknown reasons . So its not a humor they actually have plan to make another project. I just wish they can still continue develop both project so the old project they started will never left behind.

I don't understand why they take so long to list projects in exchanges in this market, and besides, they continue to create a new project and continue to raise capital from the community. I am a bit confused but I hope investors will be okay with it

His previous project elixxir is yet to be come to the market and it's still being developed. How come he starts another project? It seems he is using his name and fame only. At the end, the project will be just another shitcoin that's for sure.

Let's see Chaum's history:
In 2018 > Ecash’s Creator Is Back – And He Thinks He’s Built the Fastest Blockchain Ever (https://www.coindesk.com/ecashs-inventor-is-back-and-he-thinks-hes-built-the-fastest-ever-blockchain) -> elixxir
In 2019 > David Chaum Announces the xx coin, Supporting Decentralized Messaging, Payments and dApps on the xx network (https://www.prnewswire.co.uk/news-releases/david-chaum-announces-the-xx-coin-supporting-decentralized-messaging-payments-and-dapps-on-the-xx-network-834748051.html) -> praxxis, xx network, elixxir
In 2020 > Public Sale Is Live for Coin Powering Cypherpunk Pioneer David Chaum’s Privacy Focused Xx Network (https://news.bitcoin.com/xx-public-sale/) -> public sale.

Is he just come up with a new concept every year without doing the real work, or he really working on it? Well, we should be able to try the product then!
