other than what jossiel suggested it is important that you read this thread Newbies - Read before posting (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0). all the important things that a newbie should know in this forum are in that thread. also, before posting on any board you should check for a pinned thread to see if there is a specific rule for that thread and avoid braking it.

Welcome to the community. Since you are a crypto user then you are in right place to gain more knowledge about crypto-currency. Before engaging with any conversation I will strongly suggest reading this thread  [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4928968.0). Here you will find lots of useful threads including forum rules. It's quite important to read the forum rules to know about the forum culture.

Besides that, you should always use the forum search button (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search) when a question raise in your mind. Forum search button could give you appropriate answers before you create a new topic. If in case you are unable to find your appropriate answers, then it's good to create a new thread about your question. Hope forum users will help you to achieve your goal here. Read more and more to learn.

I would like to invite the community to create a theme that would become an introduction to newbies. Some newbies love to open up topics from day one and talk about their preferences. For example, today's newbie.
And others immediately fly into the meta, and there they ask simple questions, to which there are thousands of answers on the forum.
In order not to produce dozens of topics with similar questions, those who want to tell and greet the community could write there.

For example, a topic titled "How did you get to the forum?" or "Say hello to the community :)"

Welcome OP :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. Please remember to read the general rules and check out meta. You'll find a lot of information about your account, newbie restrictions and ranking up.

Not like in other forums, where we usually find a board called "introduce yourself", bitcointalk forum doesn't invite new users to introduce themselves in a direct way. Here you can share your knowledge with others and create topics to ask about your concerns.
To be honest, this forum is not that friendly use for new comers, as you may noticed that the homepage is fully crowded, so i advice you to start with checking forum rules and other guides (most of them are mentioned in above replies. In addition, i would also like to check this awsome topic created few days ago: Tips to comfortable forum navigation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265831)

Another Hi from another member ;D! Like OgNasty, I love bitcoin but I'm a little bit allergic with the new alts in the market lol. I just hope you really know what you are doing with those coins but well you said that you are just holding them for fun so I presume you won't worry if ever you lose.

Enough from introductions, my advice for you is to become a good member. Obey the rules at all times. Forget about how you hoard merits (it will stress you for real) because I believe that it wilk naturally come to you as longer you stay here. Just do like what you are doing with your alts — have fun :).
