Hackers are now using Dogecoin to infiltrate computers

Quote
Dogecoin’s moment didn’t end with TikTok or Elon Musk. Instead, hackers have started using the meme cryptocurrency to control mining malware.

Very interesting to here that criminals have somewhat shift their crypto jacking attack from Monero to Dogecoin. And I think this is the first time that we heard it and I'm sure not be the last.

But it doesn't make sense for hackers to his Dogecoin, the only possibility is that it should be under the radar for quite some time and maybe anti virus companies are not going to look at it and instead still focusing on Monero crypto jacking.

For us, yes, it really doesn't make sense for them to used this Meme coin. But it is a clever trick to slip under the radar for quite some time and it seems that they have victimized a lot since they have been running this since January as per my understanding. So again, the rule of thumb is that if something is not quite right in your machine, they try to check everything because you might be infected by this malware already.

It feels like these hackers are always a step ahead and find away to keep themselves out of limelight. On reading the article, it was disheartening to know that these scheme had been going on since January and based on the information on the article, its still active today. I only hope that the authorities figure out how to arrest the situation before it cause a whole lot of trouble for us.

Hackers have to always stay ahead otherwise their criminal career will be over. It is indeed interesting to see how much effort these guys put to destroy someone or an organization. If they can only channel their efforts for a good cause the world would have been different.

Exactly, the world would be much better, if the energy invested in crime and unscrupulous activities are channelled to researching for the solution to humans problem. We may have little less to worry about when people are not selfish and concerned about stealing from others.

Criminals..everytime there's something relating to money exist there's always a criminal that always trying to make other people suffer for their own benefit let alone dogecoin that has gone viral recently. Just hoping that there is somehow any way to get them caught by the authorities or the police atleast we can get the amount of these scammers to some extent.

That's another story though, this space has been taken advantage of criminals more than any market I have seen in recent years. Why? it's because there are people here who are less educated and just enter to make money but they don't know how to protect their assets.

Dogecoin has been in the news lately with the tiktok viral so hackers as always ride on this popularity then morph the Monero code and change it to Dogecoin. But the good thing is that they have been caught doing this and I'm sure anti virus softwares are going to update with this latest findings.

Sounds funny, why on earth will hackers choose DOGE over privacy coins? Maybe there is more reason to it unknown to us. One of the major ills in crypto space is caused by hackers, wonder when there'll be a long lasting solution to curtail this.

Honestly, I expected something like this to happen because crypto was the only investment in the world that was not badly affected by the pandemic issue and every time the crypto market is bullish what crypto scammer does is targetting the vunerable and inexperience investors.
It said that this situation may affect Doge market despite the Tiktok starategy used by the team.

Unfortunately, there are people and groups who need to take and steal from someone else in order to obtain stability and perks. We live in a capitalist world where greed is more important than helping others and improving the planet. This type of news shows that the market and crypto have a long way to strengthen security.

I think its another problem that needs to be solved asap the article says the attack was already started since January 2020 so it means the attackers have exploited dogecoin since January and the worst is not even detected. I think the hackers have any specific reason why they choose Dogecoin to attacked the specific target rather than the Privacy coin like Monero, I hope that internet security firms will address this and find remedy a soon as possible.

The hackers seems has realized the potential of Doge coin because the coin has going viral on TikTok and with being endorsed by Elon Musk.
If the botnet mining still can't be detected by mining pools, this will not end. We need some to detect the botnet mining, so the hackers cannot execute their malware anymore.

Well, dogecoin is not as privacy oriented as monero however it is still quite funny enough and would be very hard to follow.
First of all there isn't as much infrastructure as the other ones but at the same time we are talking about hundreds of thousands of the same coin, it is harder to mix as well. I don't know if it is smarter to use doge or monero, I feel like monero would be a lot better if you ask me.

However they are hackers, I am sure if they know how to hack people they must also know more about doge enough to actually hide their income and that is why I feel like even if monero is better, they could still make it work with dogecoin as well, would be harder but these are the guys who hack others so I am sure the hard stuff is not really hard for them but looks hard for us.

Or they simply done it for fun? Yes really possible because most of the hacks in the past histories have no intention other than warning someone so this could be a warning for the creator and the investors. So everyone needs to understand that its your money so don't just invest it on a coin which is created as fun and nothing else.

Hackers can control the mining of Monero walmare tokens on Linux operating systems. Doki is a new backdoor trojan virus,
hackers use to redirect malware mining on public web servers. Using Dogecoin transactions, attackers can change C2 addresses on open computers running their Monero mining bots.
Hackers target the command and control (C2) server for this attack. It is used to set up and control compromised systems in the target network and can include smartphones, PCs and other internet-connected devices.
