Title: What happened to my electrum wallet
Post by: Charles-Tim on August 01, 2020, 09:53:56 PM
I checked my electrum wallet today and I saw three transactions, the three transactions were all made into my account on 15th July.

Txid:
1. 6695e63e160d08812dc42be6fb89544ff8a3893a40943dc4fbfff01a34e007f0

2. 8e14042d099af21ae15a79610ec10adfd4a60a52a503e5e36b7d4ee627e62eef

3. d0eeb888eeea4a1758f0fceb8e12d7d38d7ca02760d9570720710ddc91a65f81

I received a total 0.0015 btc on the same day with the same address. You can use the txid to check.

Hope this is not dust attack? I do not know the sender. But I think dust attack should be with lower amount I will not be able to notice on my wallet balance.

The sending address is 1777CoinbQutKJdCsMryj5CcEWGwx2sWRw which seems to be one of the bitcoin addresses  of 777coin casino. Did you participate in any 777coin casino signature campaign or games and rounds promotion before?

Yes, I participated in 777coin campaign, that was my first campaign on this forum before I joined Bitamp. I appreciate your effort.

Above was right, that isn't an attack lol, and nobody will attack if they will give you some fraction of Bitcoin. That's too generosity if someone does that.

I've checked ANN thread of 777coins it seems there's no announcement maybe you can check on the official website. If I'm not mistaken you are a participant of 777coins before, isn't it?

1777CoinbQutKJdCsMryj5CcEWGwx2sWRw --> from 777coin and you may ask lightlord (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=30541) on this ANN thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=238323.0). Probably it's also good if you post this into their ANN thread to know others.

You are right, I participated, it was a payment of the work I did (the post I made), I should have checked that, I did not know I will be paid because I left the campaign for another before the payment. Though, I did the weekly required posts completely but I left some days before the weekly payment and I was not expecting anything at all. So, this has been solved with what sheenshan commented above. I appreciate.

Some points to note for you:

Dust means the amount is very low, and lower than transaction fee. Your three income can be used to send out when fee on network is low (1 sat/byte). With thousand of satoshis, you can pay for transaction fee.
The payrate in 777coin is low too, depends on Tier and payment for you depends on your weekly postcount.

Some documents on Dust attacks:

Yes, I participated in 777coin campaign
If you "Label" each address in Electrum when you use it, and only use each address once, you'll always know who paid what.

Unfortunately, if Charles-Tim lost his wallet file, and has to recover the wallet from seeds, he will not see address labels again. Nevertheless, if he does not lose wallet file, he can use the file on another computer and will still be able to see address labels.

While it wasn't in this case, a dust attack trying to deanonymize user, does exist.
However, the amount sent is way smaller than a few $.

Unfortunately, if Charles-Tim lost his wallet file, and has to recover the wallet from seeds, he will not see address labels again.

There is a "label sync" plugin for electrum which uploads your labels to a server.
This allows you to retrieve them after recovering your wallet with the mnemonic.

There are definitely some privacy concerns regarding this. But some people don't care about privacy and therefore this might be something useful for them.

I saw this on electrum wallet just now, I read on the electrum that labels, transaction ID and addresses are encrypted before they are sent to the remote server also in addition.

About the privacy, I still think the encryption can still help to some extent.
