Title: What to do if you get scammed!
Post by: seoincorporation on August 04, 2020, 12:22:50 AM
There is a Jamiroquai song to play if you get scammed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFUYxXgSmr4

Bitcoin is not paypal... transactions are not reversible, once the transaction is confirmed your coins are gone.

Same with other altcoins.

So, if you get scammed, play that song, is the best thing to do. As i always say, bitcoin leassons arent chep at all.

I hope this will be done once only. Getting scammed is extremely devastating, so for the sure a person will learn something about it.
Another action that is much better to do is share what they experience, besides listening to that kind of music, it could only help yourself, as the emotional part. But if we share our experience to other people, we might save someone to get scammed again.

It's not what I was expecting but I like it  ;)

I also recommend listening to it before checking the market or opening your trading accounts.

Playing that funky-ass song will probably just add insult to the injury lmao. Probably the last thing someone who got scammed want to do is to listen to music to dance to.

If you get scammed learned from it and post it in the scam section or create an article on it so you can warned people about this kind of scam, it's part of our experience here in Bitcointalk not that you are careless but you take the risk in investing or going for it, you will learn and you will get an insight on how to be a better investor.

I got scammed twice in just a month and it is indeed devastating. I'm just glad that it wasn't a huge amount but of course I have my regrets. As a saying goes, "One is enough, two is too much, three is dangerous." And I won't let that happen to me the third time.

Anyway, about the song, that was some upbeat music. I don't know if I could dance along with that after such incident but to make things light, might as well listen to it so your mood would shift. Not just sure if it would work for me.

Because bitcoin and crypto transactions are irreversible (except very special cases that should not be expected to happen again), to avoid huge losses or lose all capital, let's follow the rule 1: don't trade with huge amount or all of your capital with anyone else. Next rule, don't forget rule 1.

I checked the link to know what genre it is and yeah it's not my type lmao ;D. I am not a fan of funk music (I'm not actually sure of the genre)

Anyway, listening to a music which relates in your experience is a nice way to cope with it.  Fortunately, in my 3 years of journey inside the crypto sphere I haven't scammed yet (and I hope never will be). Though I joined fraudulent HYIPs and faucets before, I did not include it on the list since I didn't spend even a cent with those platforms. You know! A beginner thing — crazed on trying everything and hoping to earn "free" money without investing hahaha. But honetsly, I considered it as a blessing in disguise tho.

Pass, rather I would heal my would by writing some warning to others to prevent them from finding themselves in exact or similar situation. Getting scammed is a scenario I wouldn't what others to experience but that's unlikely to happen. I thought I was too careful myself until I became a victim, scammers are constantly looking for new and improved ways to get their hands on your coin and if you're the type that's actively looking for new way to increase your holding, you're vulnerable.

In regards to securing yourself in the investment area, becoming a strong bitcoin believer would scale your through. We have all sort if distractions in the industry that scammers could leverage on to steal your coin but staying focus on bitcoin would do the trick.

Transactions are not reversible but they are transparent, and as has been shown with the recent hack in Twitter the scammers could be tracked down if they leave a trail. Reports (https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.timesofindia.com/world/us/florida-teen-arrested-as-mastermind-of-twitter-hack/amp_articleshow/77299094.cms) suggests that a combination of Bitcoin address information and online chats were used to get the Florida hacker.
These efforts were most likely used because of the scale of the theft, in smaller scams however making it public would warn people of the strategies used and more attention would make it easier to get the perpetrators should they slip up.

You should also learn from your mistakes whether or not you recover your funds to avoid falling victim again.

Bitcoin is not PayPal, of course, but whenever possible it should be approached in a way that protects us as much as possible. Take forum trading, for example, no one can scam anyone if we use escrow - even if it's about Bitcoin transactions. If you are buying something online and paying with BTC and there is no possibility of escrow, then first research the seller and start with a smaller amount.

People get scammed only because they do not know what they are doing, and if they send coins to cloud mining, investments that pay 10% per day on deposit or to some Nigerian prince - then they can only cry and play that song.

You have nothing to do with that, the best option is to deal with it, learn to accept and learn from it.

You should be responsible with your assets and you should not trust anyone that you don't personally know.

Also, don't click any links that are suspicious or visit sites that is not that popular and downloading from unknown source is also risky. Also be aware about those schemes that they use in some popular platforms because recently there are reports about high profile personality in twitter used as a tool for scamming.

You should understand that not all of the rewards/giveaways that you see in a certain website or platform is true and legit. Learn to determine the difference between fraud and legit, scams and real.

I was scammed too when I was selling altcoins with p2p on telegram without using escrow. I trusted that man because he seems knows too much about the project and promise me to send his payment after he is done with this thing. He said to me: I'm currently walking to get home after I get home in an hour I send to you the payment. then after that, he promises me after he is done with his dinner he will surely send me the payment. It goes up to another reason after that he never replied to my message again. My advice to you guys, no matter how the person came to you with a good offer don't send your BTC or altcoin first. use some escrow we have a lot of them here.

If you get scammed in crypto space than forget about it and move on. There is no way you will be able to retrieve those cryptocurrencies.

Also do not fall for websites or individuals who claim that they can get it back for you for a fee. Those websites and individuals are basically again scamming you.

The best thing you can do is to not to fall for Giveaways, Doubling schemes and Investment schemes.

Thanks for the video anyway, it's my first time to see it, this has over 92k views, so maybe these are the numbers who are interested to know what to do when you get scammed, or people who got scammed already?

bitcoin leassons arent chep at all.

especially if you got scammed a whole bitcoin.

If you got scammed easily I think you are not good or you are not better on the world of business and investment because this takes a lot of things and secured your self with your funds too. It's better to make a research what are the things we are trying to make an investment or deep dive in.

We have different things should do in terms of making some laylo or healing your selves about something bad and one of these are

  • Reading books
  • Listening a song
  • Watching movies
  • Eating and more.

Those are the common things at the end of the day you should learn from your mistakes on getting scammed but still, I think that song given by the OP gives more flashback to all of the investment got because in a single mistake.

I expected a detailed article, not a YouTube video.
Getting scammed despite such a long list of escrow agents who offer their services on this forum shouldn't happen. There is even a free escrow service so you don't even have to pay any extra fees, unless you want to tip the guy for protecting your ass.

When it comes to the irreversibly of crypto transactions, there is an Israeli blockchain firm that is working on creating a solution that makes it possible to retrieve wrongly sent crypto transactions. I haven't done any research on their project but it seemed fitting to mention it here since we are talking about Bitcoin not being reversible.

If anyone asks, I am in no way connected to the project, but the idea seems interesting.

The lyrics of the music video is a bit distorted maybe because he wants to stick on a funky music. I hope that you put lyrics on the music video so that it will be understable for people that english is not a native tounge.
Listening to a soothing music really helps people to calm mind and accept what was already done.

The best medicine to overcome your depression is to seek God. He will surely answer you through prayer. I experienced huge loss in my past which at some point, I thought that I want to die because of my foolishness but miracle happened when I find God.  :)

so basically I lost $100k+ and I need to recover it someone especially since much of that were loans I took out.
This is quite huge losses and I can't even imagine how much this value could be done to my life when I get a 100K USD. The scammer was very luck having that fast and easy money. Anyway, I am also interested on how will other users react to this post? I know that this might be not true but if this really happening then what could be done here by this user?

No, it is not like that, learning is a process.

After you make a mistake and got scammed, the effect of it will not instantly change you. You should really consider a lot of factor why did you made a mistake where you have no certainty about it.

World of business and investment is for everyone, all of us have an opportunity to make our money grow and it depends on us on how we will do it with our own strategy and effort.

Precisely! The only recourse we could do is to take it as a learning experience while at the same time, we must be more vigilant and try to warn others by spreading news about it. Finally, we have to move on no matter how awful that experience maybe. :)

Behind every mistakes, there is a lesson that will help you grow and become aware about those scams. Let's just help each other become informed about those scams that are circulating in the internet and warn other people about a circumstances like this. Bad experience are just temporary and can be replaced by a new set of positivities so learn how to accept mistakes and move on.

Fortunately, I did not get scam directly but I lost a huge amount of money by altcoins investment during 2017-2018. So what we should do before getting a scam in my opinion are>

1. First things to learn from that lesson.
2. Get it normally as much as you can
3. To keep you normal watch funny things, movies, drama, etc.
4. Be strong and start the journey again.

what we should not to do>

1. Don't use any money recovery service like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5266549.msg54931345#msg54931345

It depends on the sum of money that have been scammed if it's only a small amount it's easy to get over with but it involves a huge sum of money it's hard to get back and you want to get back to those who scammed you like what happen to so many ICO and gambling.

If I get scammed, I won't hesitate to share my story with my friends and relatives if they intend to involve in something similar and smell fishy like the scam project I joined.

It is not well to be talkative and automatically talk about my story, I have to wait till there is chances to share. If people don't have interest in one area, like crypto, it is useless when you share any story with them because they will simply ignore such story and keep moving.

Damn, that was huge, assuming that his narrative was true. Anyway, what else can be done than to move on? Bear in mind that, bitcoin transaction is irreversible, so there's no chance of him getting it back, not unless the receiver are willing to pay him back which on his case won't be happening.

Well going back to OP. The music seems uplifting enough, at least for me. I don't know if listening to it would work for the others though but it is good anyway. However, benefits there are just temporary it might heal what has been damage but still there's no progress happening, and so the best thing to do is to move on and get back to work (here, you'll be able to get your money back, little by little)   ;).

Indeed. You have no chance getting your money back, and listening to music is not the best way to move on with your problem because you will always remember the money that you lost. So making yourself back to work or daily grind is the best way to move on because you can easily recover all of those money that you have lost in a short time, and you will forget it if you've got your money back.

Interesting stuff! I wonder what will happen to transaction fees if ever this system has been implemented. I remember when the time when I cancelled a bitcoin transaction on a gambling website because I accidentally pasted a bitcoin address that has been used before. Surprisingly, after it gets cancelled, the tx fee has been reduced on the quantity of bitcoin that I am sending.

Morever, have you tried it with Ledger products? There is an article that says Kirobo has been implemented on Ledger devices.
Kirobo’s Retrievable Transfer feature is now available on all Ledger crypto wallets. It only works for Bitcoin transactions, and it will be free for transactions of up to $1,000.

I can't remember that Ledger is using their services.

I think its getting calm on this music. The victim will remember all of the more on funky things and avoid thinking they made a mistake even not in scam but in whole life because on the intense and looks like too much hype( this is my opinion only). If you get scammed and the funds cannot brings back to its owner I think you can only thing you could do is to make a report and spread an awareness to the people.

If I get scammed, I won't hesitate to share my story with my friends and relatives if they intend to involve in something similar and smell fishy like the scam project I joined.

One of the good thing is sharing your experiecne to your friends because you are open up with them and release all of the negative from your self also you are helping them to make more aware about the things you've encountered and spread the news that this is a scam.

Still learn from your mistakes is the best.

I dont think that is counted as scam record. If you invest on a coin/token during that time and the value suddenly drop then thats an investment loss. Scam is something like someone deceived you and loss money due to the process. At least by this you got something that werent used to trick you. Unfortunately youve loss money. So you cant relate to those guys whose the song are relating to.

OP, Im not into music but when I checked the youtube song its really calming but I dont want ever to hear that song if that is for people who got scammed. Just wanted to hear it.

Some of the newbies who get scammed will see btc as a scam in general even though its their own fault, they didn't search or read about it first, they jump right away just because someone told them they will learn a lot of money. They won't even see the lessons, they are just furious.

The first thing they do after being scammed is to share to the world that btc is scam etc. etc. LOL. Funny that a lof of people believe it even without the knowledge of what this currency can really offer.

I think the beat of the song is not appropriate if you got scammed, and it feels like it's asking you to dance to it. But I don't think getting in that situation will want you to dance. Rather than listening to the song, I will tell my friends about what happens and would ask for their help, but if I can't do anything, I will just let out my frustration and move on although it may be hard depending on how much money you lose. I mean, getting scammed will never be a nice thing, but it will serve a lesson to be careful with our bitcoins.

That's bullshit, if you even get scammed, the only relief you should give to yourself is improving on your security precautions to avoid similar experience from occuring again because if it doesn't happen (again) then you're not ready to progress in this space. Using films, music or other activities will just make you weak, for the moment it'll relief you but that experience will hurt you for left.

But when you realize the experience bettered your life and probably will be saving you from making similar mistakes in the future, only then will you get true relief. You could make it more benefiting to others too like I highlighted in my previous reply.

LOL, This is my first time seeing boss getting a bullshit word from his replies knowing that the OP's post is really not that helpful but instead it is all about bullying the victims of scam. The song does not really helpful when one is getting scam especially if it involves huge amount. Well probably OP is a scammer and this is why he is happy when there will be many victims of this scam activities for instead he will be a help for them, he just make laugh by the song he wanted to hear on the scam victims.

Hello Boss, pardon me. I believe we all have different ways in relieving stress. Songs may not be that helpful for some people upon coping with stress, but for others, listening to a song, or singing a song "somehow" helps and gaves them some sort of relieve.

Yes boss, it might not have huge impact,  but it might help him, like me, to experience relief, because some people find peace from something that makes them happy or/and from something that makes them calm.
From that peace, he might realize things that should be and shouldn't be done. Helping them to be more careful next time. He accepted his fault, learned, moved on, and ready to continue on his journey.

Thank you for the advice Boss.😊

Hello Boss, pardon me. I believe we all have different ways in relieving stress.

Don't stress yourself, I'm not saying your post wasn't a quality one or not, I'm just responding to the qouted world and also we're free to reason differently and that's ok. If you see a thought from me that you don't agree on, feel free to contradict it and we have a debate on the matter, that's how we grow together as a community.

LOL, This is my first time seeing boss getting a bullshit word from his replies knowing that the OP's post is really not that helpful but instead it is all about bullying the victims of scam.

Don't misunderstand my statement, I'm not judging anyone's content with my reply, as we're free to have our own reasoning. The judging thing will be done on Sunday when I'm counting my participants posts for the week. For now I'm just a regular forum user contributing to a discussion of my interested. The bullshit was for the quoted word and not the OP.

That song will add more damage to the pain that you're experiencing after you get scammed :D, Just like they say mistakes are the best teacher in your life, some need to learn it the hard way so you will not do it again, although it's painful to be scammed and nobody deserves it better move on and learn from it.

Better listen to this song too  :D

If you got scammed just simply take it as lesson and make sure that you won't experience it once again. But before that you should take an act make a discussion about it so that everyone should never experience what once you have gone through.

Btw I like the song  :D it was kinda fun to listen with, however, I doubt you will felt good hearing it after you get scammed. :D

The only thing that you can do when you get scammed is to make it as a lesson for you, so you wont do it again. Learn from your mistakes, never fall to anyone if money is involve.

The wisest people on this forum are those who got scam one time or another, they know what to trust and who to trust and they know and fully aware that Bitcoin is not reversible and it works on trust so if you got scam that means your fail to do a research and you trust the person or the project, so check how you trust people and project.

what to do after being scammed might reflect on what just happened. a question will arise, why are we hit by scammer traps.

this will be a lesson that will not be repeated a second time.
don't fall into the same hole.

then sing and enjoy life without any burden.

After getting the lesson, just forget about the loss. If you keep the loss in your mind, you will remain tense for next few days. No matter how big the loss is, the time will heal the loss. There is no point to cry on it as the time wont come back and you will not be able to undo the mistake which made you loss your money.

When it comes to crypto currencies, you need to be more careful as you know that once a transfer is made, it cannot be reversed or recalled. In case of paypal or banking transactions you always have the option to contact the authority and resolve any disputes but in bitcoin there is no such functionality.

Getting scammed is something that happened in a regular basis but victims has the only option to accept being scrammed because nothing has to be done about confirmed transactions, its gone for ever. Getting scammed is just a matter of taking next steps in achieving new goals, although listening to music will simply digest the anger, as will result to many devastating issues in the environment.

Getting scammed will make those victims be more wary of such schemes or in short it is called "lesson learned". Better be knowledgeable rather than clueless and will get scammed many times especially scammers tend to find a hole just to scam bitcoins from their victims.

What do you mean by scammed in a regular basis? are you doing your mistakes purposely? lol

Getting scammed is just a matter of taking next steps in achieving new goals, although listening to music will simply digest the anger, as will result to many devastating issues in the environment.
There have been studies that music helps our brain to set the mood, so I guess it is better to listen to music rather than just thinking about it all day, but it must be a proper music, relaxing or upbeat. You don't wanna hear crying in the background coz you'll just remember it for bad. And also give yourself a space to think what could be done next in order to avoid doing the same mistake, a well lit surrounding or green place to spend your time.

The song is great. Definitely makes you feel better if there's anything that can have this effect on someone who just lost his savings.
I've never been scammed but i came pretty close to it when an exchange I've been using went bust and later bailed scamming customers. They had a little period when they were deciding what to do and allowed people to withdraw, acting like nothing had happened. I used that time to take my money off the platform.
What would I do? Probably report it to the police and try to make as much fuss in the Internet as I could.

Getting scammed can be very painful, you even tell yourself 'why didn't i listen to my inner voice' but i guess it's part of lessons we learn in life to be more careful next time.

True, feels really bad to lose money getting tricked... And that's the point, most of us has been scammed in the past and day by day more people get scammed too... So, for most of us, the only thing to do was to take it as a lesson.

With this thread i'm not trying to laugh about the people who get scammed, I'm on that side too. The point it to learn how to let it go because life keeps going.

It is the worst thing ever can be happened to anyone. I have been there and it is frustrating indeed. As these transactions are irreversible, we can do nothing here. Engaging with you hobbies can help you forget that. If one thing I am asked to suggest to any person who got scammed recently, I would suggest to go on a dinner outside. Delicious food is something that can release you from mental pain.(Been there, experienced that!) I mean what more you could lose as you already lost something, right? A dinner would cost you probably more $50-100. Nothing else.

Make sure you are educated about blockchain technology in order to any kind of scam. You must put your greed aside, of course!

The music beat was funny at the beginning because of the beat. But at the end, I see if you  got scammed and you listen to this, you will actually make jest of your self and dance to the music at last.

To believe that most people do experience that scam thing specially when they had just started up to learn everything in crypto space.Just like me when i get involved into crypto where i do initially hooked up by Ponzi/HYIP
investments where i do believe that making money is easy and do even believe that i would be hella of a rich guy in no time but in the end it did really just make the situation even more worst.

Its not really necessary for you to be scammed before you do able to learn but there are instances which cant really be avoided since we are just human anyways where mistakes would be likely.
Some do able to avoid scams by just reading others experiences which is good but for those people who are lazy to read up then expect that sooner or later they would really be fall into the trap.

What to do if you get scammed? We should moved on and learn from it because in next time you will be more wiser or smarter against up these things.
