Title: How good is TradeStation to buy and sell bitcoin?
Post by: greentech2 on August 10, 2020, 11:09:17 PM
TradeStation is the traditional stock broker that offers to buy and sell crypto.  Have any one use it yet?  How good is it compare to Coinbase?  Thanks.

Seems to be a pretty reputable platform. Not sure why I never see anyone suggesting this platform anywhere, but it's probably because the trading fees are actually higher than Coinbase's, despite Coinbase already having fees that are quite high.

Based on the table below, it looks like TradeStation is a platform that's best used by big-money traders and investors.

Found you some answers, the platform isn't your average crypto trading brokers with just focus on cryptocurrencies and before
TradeStation catered solely to professional brokers and money managers.
so obviously you don't expect much suggestion coming from the community since majority are average traders without much experience in advance trading.

Tradestation are still new to the cryptocurrency industry too, they're not even upto a year old which is why their name isn't that common among the community members
TradeStation Crypto was launched in November 2019 and allows users to trade Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Ripple (XRP). TradeStation charges 1% per trade for accounts with balances of $100,000 or less, but through March 2020 the brokerage is offering crypto trades for a discounted 0.5% commission.

Responding to the OP question, the platforms looks decent too from my observation but that doesn't mean I'll recommend it over coinbase. I haven't used it neither have I used coinbase as there are better alternative to the two out there but since you're asking for a comparisons, go for coinbase as there reputable gives them the hedge

Looks also a decent platform to me.

But popularity-wise and since we only have few users here that actually tried the platform, it will be good "for now" if you continue to use Coinbase for convenience.

However, putting up a small amount and risking some fees to test the waters at Tradestation is a good idea if the platform really catches your attention. You can give us feedback here for reference.

Just make sure to visit the right URL: https://www.tradestation.com/

Do I need to do KYC on TradeStation? Definitely right? I have never used this platform, which I notice immediately that there are no fees, or there are hidden costs

I've never used TradeStation before as it is not crypto friendly. Anyways, this is what some Googling shows:
"The deposit and withdrawal are not user-friendly and you can only use bank transfer.

There is no forex trading and the customer service is of poor quality." Though at least it seems a trust-worthy platform as its parent company Monex Group is listed on Tokyo stock exchange.

There are fees in relation to using this, for more useful details see below (source here (https://brokerchooser.com/broker-reviews/tradestation-review)):

I've never heard about TradeStation but Coinbase has already some years in crypto market . You can go with coinbase but check their fees per transaction

I just heard about this platform. Then i do some "classic research". By typing tradestation n duckduckgo and here's my results :
1. https://brokerchooser.com/broker-reviews/tradestation-global-review
2. https://www.reddit.com/r/algotrading/comments/b6rthh/anyone_using_tradestation_for_algos/
3. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1082909.msg51955568#msg51955568
4. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5122631.msg50238353#msg50238353
5. https://twitter.com/TradeStation

And correct with what @mk4 said, i think that platform will bring more benefits for traders with capital above $100k.

As I visited their platform, you will see that they are determined to be in a mainstream just like the Coinbase, Binance, and etc.

It is considered as a safe exchange, so if you are willing to try their platform, seek more information and read reviews about it first. Don't just engage and invest in their platform, but still in contrast with Coinbase, i'd still prefer to use coinbase in a long run. It is tried and tested for so many years since 2012 but it takes a lot of time for Coinbase to become noticed.

So maybe, Tradestation needs a lot of more time to prove its efficiency as an exchange, let us observe its improvements so that it can be in lined with those who are in a mainstream exchange.

Because as of what they said, they only catered for professional traders, and that seems so hard for average traders to understand it. I'd never heard that name before until I read this thread but it is to assess that only a few traders are using this platform. We've never known that is their reason why this platform intended for professional traders but as I can see, they are protecting their reputation to get ruin coming from the volume of traders which possibly rises problems in the future.

Tradestation is an old stock broker? From which country? I am not sure that I have come across any such services even I am into forex/crypto trading for more than 8 years. It is always a good practice to include the exact URL of the services when you are talking about them particularly. Because, you might be talking about a .org domain whereas people here are finding some .com or .io domain from google and may suggest you from what they are finding in their quick search.

I am getting into any new exchange only if:
1. They are having official ANN topic on this forum.
2. Coinmarketcap lists them and people from this community provides good experience.
3. Some altcoin/ICO lists their coin/token and we may test them with small risks to get into them for big money.

I mean there are lots of services available for buying/selling cryptos and you may find the highly reputed one rather than going into a new/unknown services.
