Title: A site for projects related to crypto.
Post by: CrypticBuzz on August 12, 2020, 05:24:29 AM
I've been thinking about creating a site for people to post their projects within crypto. I don't mean shitcoins. For example, a new crypto wallet or dapp. Would anyone be interested in this? My main worry is not having a sufficient amount of content flowing in. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I would participate in it, but the main problem is, many startups just want to get free promotion, and don´t care to much about interacting with other projects, even if it would be mutually beneficial. While I think such a site would be great, I´m not sure if it would make sense in the long run

Contents are everywhere but you need to pull some extra bucks on your pocket to make it work out.

I´m not sure if it would make sense in the long run
I guess he can make it. If the projects start to dry and there is no more content to cover, he can simply turn into the basics of covering other non-crypto related contents but I see far from happening if he has good resources.

You might want to think of a criteria on how you're going to decide if you're going to add a certain project/service to your website first. Next thing you know, scammers will be spamming your email asking you to list their site.

Yeah i've gotta be super vigilant about the projects. Backgrounds checks around the web will have to be done be done before being approved.

Agree, we can find dozen contents about project/service related to crypto and most of them only paid shills. They're not doing honest review from each project they listed.

You need to gather other people opinions to be more transparent and not only include your personal reviews.

Your idea is not new from what I've known. Ratimov spent his time and made the huge thread from which you can check and get overview on what people have done and what you can improve from their current sites, works, as well as know that whether your idea is new.
  • [HUGE LIST] Useful Crypto Links !!! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5264359.0).
  • cryptolinks.com (https://cryptolinks.com/)

All sites with ratings or reviews are subjective and I only consider them as reference sources. Their ratings and reviews can be biased by many factors behind the scene. Use them, then do your own research, double check to make your final assessment on one project.

I'm sure the list you provided has a great list of products but the thing is the site idea is supposed to be a fun accessible site for people to see the bleeding edge of new projects within crypto, no matter how small or big it is. Think product hunt without the hunting so much.

To build up a good site, you need to make your decent effort and time as well, to make it as high quality. It is terrible if you build up a site that accept all projects in crypto when they are born and apply to be listed on your site. Scam projects are dominant in crypto space.

It is another reason I recommend people should not trust on ratings, reviews on any site

Talk about crypto or bitcoin forum, how many forum are there? Many. Which one is the greatest and the best? Bitcointalk.org. There are strict rules, there are exprienced moderators, admins and helpful community members to fight scam projects here. All of those factors make the forum great, over years.

My main worry is not having a sufficient amount of content flowing in.

You will have to do a huge amount of research/work in order to gather a significant list of such projects and make your site/list become known and used by many.
Only after you reach that point (if it'll ever happen) the projects will start coming to you and ask to get listed. And even then you'll have to research a lot.

There's a big risk that you'll do big amount of work and still no success... it's up to you if you'd take the risk or not.

This is the biggest part finding content. I've already collected quite a handful of sites to possibly add on the site. But IF after a while things may dry so I might have to ration content for a bit. Either way I think its worth exploring and I got some fun marketing ideas.

Exactly.

It's what he need if he's too worried about the production of contents. Well, he can make it on his own and he should be diligent in choosing people publishing those contents.

If what you have in mind is a mere "site for people to post their projects," I'm sorry but there wouldn't be much interest in it most probably, unless your site is already popular and has the traffic that these crypto projects need. Otherwise, you might end up just like the rest of the unknown sites and exchanges offering, to the point of bugging and spamming, unheard of cryptocurrencies to apply for free listing.

Personally, I prefer to see a site where crypto products are posted for their features' objective reviews and discussions. There's so much to get from it than from a site which simply allows posting from crypto projects.

A directory/blog i think is what your saying, because people can post content like sponsored post.
But the problem is engagement, if you get enough people to post daily in your site. Well, a solution for that is you can hire SEO link builders or advertising. To promote your site to many people. If you're really serious in making such website.

Basically, you are thinking of a one stop shop for cryptocurrency list. I'd definitely read this if you could give enough interesting contents and thorough findings about your topic. If it's one of those shilling contents that only provides upsides and benefits of a cryptocurrency, nah I'll pass.

It is good but you need to make sure you avoid listing any project that might potentially be a scam. This is one of the barrier and it is very important because as soon as you list any scam project, many of your readers will not trust your site again. Also, you need money to  have a fully optimized website and top-notch SEO that makes you content rate very high and solid social media community

It's really important to have a good managing skills in terms of sorting out good and real projects,
Listing scam would end readers trust to your site.
You need to have a strong knowledge in identifying scams and those a like in order to make your
sites as clean as it is.
Eventually, once you established your site's  branding people / readers will flow as they knew that
they will gain essential information coming from your site.

many site already do that like they will only post legit crypto projects  and its hard to compete for them  . i tried them once but i got tired and im still here in the forum . its the same , i will also see the projects that will be listed on other sites here .

there also threads here that categorize the projects that they think worthy or not but ill suggest that mods and admins make those threads sticky due to thier importance .

Making a new website for crypto related, topics, threads and campaigns are really difficult because I believe that you should be focused on your website and it needs to be checked from time to time that's why it is indeed challenging and hectic when it comes to your schedule. If you are thinking of making a website make sure that you can handle it seriously because if you don't there are no people will be encouraged to join.

maybe many will support if you create the site with something like "anti scam project" because nowadays if it's only a site people will feel disbelief if there is still a scam project that gets through and scares a lot of people so make sure your web site supports the eradication of scam projects so that your site is easily trusted and supported by many parties.

It might be but OP is focusing on new coming projects and hoping to get listed but as what other members said, it could be a big chance for scammers to flood the site. It could require efforts, time, and money as it is really hard to gain trust from the community for the startups. If OP could have that kind of determination to create that kind of site, it for sure it will work.

If it's one of those shilling contents that only provides upsides and benefits of a cryptocurrency, nah I'll pass.
basically, it is our first impression of the most new projects, sadly we never let them show their potentials but just giving them negatively. Of course, nobody will take the risk if the site alone is obviously questionable in the first.

Well, there's already the project development board on this forum which is about projects, events and such Bitcoin-related stuff. Firstly, you could have a look at what they discuss there to see if that's what you have in mind for your website. Secondly, as project development is about Bitcoin and you might be open to altcoin projects, your website could expand the area of discussion this way. Others have mentioned the difficulties of making a decent website on projects, but my concern is whether such a website has a niche to fill. For instance, are there websites with projects which are not related to cryptos (but are about something else) which you could point as similar to what you have in mind? Maybe there are, but the way I see it now, projects either need money (so a crowdfunding website for crypto projects would be cool), publicity (they go to media in this case) or potential audience (a project can have a thread dedicated to it on a forum, be active in social networks and things like that). So where does your website fall here?

It would be interesting idea hence crypto is an open source that should be shared and open up to the communities that love to discuss for future crypto contents or any existing crypto projects as well. There are crypto sites already been published but it would be a good addition what you have in mind right now by that your contributions of your idea is widely accepted to the community such as crypto projects reviews alike.

It depends on how you promote your site to projects that are willing to follow your site, because this may be difficult at the start of a site release. but believe that if it works it will be easy and many will support you

I'm suggesting to create some Facebook page or Twitter account about your idea first and gather some audience there, so you will see if any person is interested in that kind of idea, I'm sure many people go through different sites like that. But if you gather some audience in social media you can advertise your site there and get some decent traffic on your site. and as long as your content is interesting you can gather traffic to your site.

It's not enough to post a content or other stuff on social media sites(but its a good start) he need to do a proper marketing and use some funds for this to gather more people to indulge his project. And also I suggest to advertise here via forum advertisement and bid on theymos thread since might he will get a big audience and those are legit crypto enthusiast persons.

It is not only enough to see how good looking the site is but people have give more credits on what is inside. Because if people would find it reliable, then it gives them a way to have the interest and surely it gains attention but if not, they'll just ignore it.

I believe someone has already done this thing but it is for you to have a different look and more interesting to see. If you can catch the wants and most informative sites, then it could be worth it. However, it is a long way to make it right and perfectly build. It needs more time and expects that more phishing sites would have to take advantage of this.

That is a great idea about the crowdfunding but thing is, it is open to scams. There would be way too much pressure to keep users safe. And yeah the MVP of the site wont have forum at first as im thinking its best to keep it simple and work off of the initial idea.

Creating a site related to crypto and its latest news, you can't rely on other people to post news on the website you provide. You have to build it yourself, build it early. Since a website that isn't popular enough won't get a good response, it will only give you lots of SPAM emails. There have been a lot of sites of the kind you want to create before, and most of them are not successful because no one wants to fill in the articles in them. The most important thing to think about is the quality of the website you build.

It seems a good idea but how can you utilize all of those projects that are related to crypto because for sure some are just faking it and aren't really a credible software to use.

Agree, social media like Facebook or Twitter isn't a good social platform to ask about cryptocurrency because people there don't know too much about it.

If he will make a website like that, he needs to advertise and spent a lot of money or unless he does his own research and put those projects on the platform manually.

I'm interested in the content of your website if you can filter shitcoin. But how can you do that? How can you acquire quality posters if your website is not yet known? You should create an idea that posters would like to post on your website even if your website is not already known by many people. Like giving them benefits? or giving benefits to the content viewer so that many would love to view the content of your website.

It takes a lot of time to gather ideas for your content but do not worry as long as you studied it well. Here are some tips in creating a project: First, you must know what will be the purpose of the project you have in mind. Next, think of the problems that you may encounter in creating it and then think of a solution. Aside from the content, you should also consider  having enough budget for your project and how will you promote it.

I think bitcointalk and altcointalk are the best places to observe crypto projects. There are people with long experience in the cryptocurrency market and very well managed forum operators. A website may be good but I believe bitcointalk and altcointalk is enough.

You just need to create a websites on your own or you could hire someone to create a website for you where maybe projects owners could post or promote their project into.

Might need to work for it since you need to create the reputation of the website so that the community is going to recognize information in your website as legitimate information not just some internet hype etc.
