Title: If I find many spammers in a thread should I report each one of them?
Post by: Poker Player on August 13, 2020, 04:07:57 AM
See this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5268464.0) for example.

I've realized before that OP has created multiple threads exactly the same with the sole purpose of spamming.

But now I've realized that most repliers in this thread look like spammers as well. They are just replying to bump the thead. I was wondering if I should send one report for each one of them or if it's just fine to report the thread.

That whole thread should be reported as being spam.  I don't think you need to do anything except to report the OP's post and the mods should take care of it.  I wouldn't bother reporting all of those spammy responses individually, because I think a mod will likely nuke the whole thread after reading your report.  Nice catch, that's a true spam thread right there.

Edit:  And in general if you see a thread like that, just note in your report's comment section that it's a spam thread and hopefully a mod will take the time to look at the thread and decide to take action as far as deleting spam posts or getting rid of the thread entirely.

I'd just report the whole thread from the op and ask a moderator to trash that one...

Otherwise just leave a note saying the thread needs a clean or something (you could always reference post numbers too - if they're easy to remember).

That thread is trashcan but often even when the thread itself is genuine it becomes spam fest after first few pages. In those cases, it's op's responsibility to lock the topic.

I saw this when I was just checking for recent unread topics. It's definitely a spam. Just report things like that because some of it has referral links as well.

Is it worth it to report the spammers on that thread individually since the OP is a spam thread I think what you suggest is fine already since the mods will likely check the consecutive response even without any reports on the succedding replies right?

Or typically they just focus only on the reported post that reflect on their system?

By the way nice catch OP help the forum by reporting this kind of posts. Make it a habit to report every now and then any spam post that you will see. Good job!

It's not just spam, it's a scam. Similar scams have been doing on for a very long time. There's a topic dedicated to them, but I can't find it back.
I have no doubt the accounts bumping the thread are owned by the same person, and I've seen them start the same thread later on several times already. So today, I started tagging them too. Unfortunately, not all boards show Trust scores, so they're likely to make new victims.

I think there's not much of a point reporting all of them: when the thread gets trashed, all other reports in the thread are instantly marked as good. Ideally, all spammers in the thread should be Nuked, but I don't expect that to happen this way.

I made a (temporary) link to find all spammers posting trustcoin.exchange: https://loyce.club/other/scam3.html

Seems thread has been trashed. When you think a thread using bumping service/something similar and there are so many spams, then simply you may report the whole thread and that's what I did previously. In alternatives, if the case is complicated, then I wrote PM to the appropriate moderators who in charge of the board. So I was able to explain in detail what suspicious activity going on. And always I got a positive response from the moderators. So if you feel confuse and feel suspicious there, then you may write to the appropriate moderators with the details. Hope they will appreciate your report.  But it's better to use the report button instead of PM to moderators since they are too busy to handle spammers.

@OP since you are willing to help forum by reporting spam, I will suggest to read the thread  [Guide] Reporting effectively (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4519248.0)

There are some points to support the guide of Welsh so please see Do you often use report button? There are guides to more effectively report (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5169937.0). One of them is patrol page customization that can narrow down the target area to find spam posts to report. It is helpful when a reporter does it intentionally.

If possible we can catch them as fast as we can than they move. And for the question definitely it's of a good act to do when you come across one just report. To any available admin when I said available admin am talking about someone that's active online 24/7.
