Title: What DeFi projects are your radar this week?
Post by: ActAshton on August 24, 2020, 08:17:42 AM
"DeFi stands for decentralized finance, which is an umbrella term for digital assets and financial smart contracts, protocols, and decentralized applications. It may rightfully be defined as the movement that promotes the use of decentralized networks and open source software to create multiple types of financial services.

According to Forbes (https://www.forbes.com/sites/lukefitzpatrick/2020/05/20/defi-is-reinventing-global-finance-faster-than-the-fed-can-print-money/#5ad07c53f307), DeFi has become a global alternative to traditional finance in the blink of an eye and currently is reimagining the way we do finance.
"

Let's hop on the DeFi wave. One thing I love about this new trend is that it's like ICO's have grown up and have become more responsible. Let alone, the community hypes up other businesses and brings more attention here than BTC itself, which is great. BTC always comes up in conversation when we talk about new things like DeFi.

I have my own personal list of DeFi businesses I follow, like Rio (https://riodefi.com) and Mantra (https://mantradao.com/). However, there are some existing businesses incorporating the similar model like Compound (https://compound.finance) and AAVE (https://aave.com/). It's a given these existing businesses jump into DeFi because a key rule in business is to align their models with current trends to attract users and investors to the project. It's really surprising to see a lot of businesses receive funding during a recession, but hey, it goes back to what I mentioned about The Great Reset. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5270102.new#new) It's a new time to shine and we should ride this wave for as long as it lasts, as we did in 2017-2018.

What DeFi projects are you looking into?

Aside from media giants like CT and CD, I've been searching for the underdogs in the media space. Some have more unique articles than most media hubs these days, which is so important. Information is DIRE during these times and we must pick and choose who we follow and why when investing, researching, and collaborating.

From what I read in the article, DeFi innovation is still dominated by lending platforms and stable/pegged coins. It's a good start; however, I want to see more about the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) as a profit-seeking corporation.

Imagine you create a company as DAO and issue shares over DeFi, do the voting as a shareholder, earn profits in stablecoins, can trade stocks freely without 3rd party market maker. Not sure if it's the definite future, but it is one of many possibilities. The thing is, it has to be approved by the regulation if we want everything to go smoothly.

Anyways, which project is currently doing these things?

Take a look at PARSIQ.

They build crazy oracle solutions with focus on defi.

Could be the next big think. At the moment, no big exchange, no marketing, very low marketcap, but the coin is rising like hell.

I am not looking to invest in any defi coin right now but from most of the social media vibes and trends i come to know that Mantra dao, defipie and parsiq seem to be focus so you can check them out if you are interested but be careful and invest only after complete investigation and satisfaction.

Calvin is definitely making big moves with Mantra. I have a lot of friends talking about it and they are kicking ass for sure. I hope it's not just another pump with no crazy USP that others have claimed in the past.

Never heard of Defipie or Parsiq but will definitely take a look. Are you familiar with the ones labeled in the OP?

I am a big fan of Oikos, since it is a new DeFi protocol on Tron network, it doesnīt have a lot of competitors on the network. Secondly, you need to put 750% collateral to take a loan, this makes it extremely safe against the price drop of OKS token.

I've read just today on cointelegraph article about CEO of AAVE going to tokenize Tesla on its platform which is probably the next thing that will happen to some other companies which will likely going to be like stock market. Synths will probably created more on the Defi platforms which we will be able to trade them too. Lending and stablecoin I guess is just the start of its application.

Look in my signature, Oikos provides decentralized finances on Tron network. By lending OKS tokens you get syntheticUSD and with sUSD you can buy also sETH or sBTC and hold them into your personal Tron wallet. Or you can use Justin Sunīs Tron DeFi project - JUST.

The fact that Coingecko and Coinmarketcap created a dedicated for Defi and the fact that one of Defi token is on the top 5 in the chart and the very high combine volume of these Defi we can conclude that Defi is here to stay I have two Defi tokens in my portfolio and looking to add more
but I still consider Bitcoin as the king so I voted Bitcoin is still king.

DeFi it's here to stay and there is no doubt about it but the real issue is if can they maintain the excitement that is surrounding their projects right now? And to me it is obvious that is not possible, so anyone that is investing in a DeFi project because they think they are going to earn a lot of money in a quick way should be very careful and look at what happened with icos in 2017 in which a few people made themselves rich and the rest lost everything.

Wasn't Polymath trying to do something similar? Not tokenizing Tesla specifically but tokenizing securities.

The  defi momentum is cooling down already, the hype is going down gradually. I will be  studying Dia, it's another oracle just like chain link and band. I will be looking at btc correction before I will full my bag as the project is still new and not yet listed on big exchange. Only okex I have seen as the significant one for now.
I still believe the team has connections to make it to coin base exchange.

Do you mean this one? https://cointelegraph.com/news/aave-ceo-wants-to-tokenize-tesla-elon-musk-gives-silent-treatment
He wanted to tokenize the car (not the stock) as a collateral for lending (again).

Nevertheless, AAVE looks slick, better than its predecessor ETHLend.

Wasn't Polymath trying to do something similar? Not tokenizing Tesla specifically but tokenizing securities.
Yeah, this one is very popular back then with the ATH ~$1.5 now it's only ~$0.06 lmao
Not sure if they are still trying.

I'm following TOB and XAMP for this week and I can clearly say that these 2 coins are poised to enter the bull run very soon (though, I don't know if these coins are DeFi based or not). DeFi is not the future actually, and BTC will definitely take over once again above YFI soon as DeFi is just a 2-day story, and BTC is a well-written history which will define the future of cryptocurrencies forever.

Lol I am not sure they are doing anything as important as they use to be. My profile still mentions them from the good 'ol days.

I met Stani back at Slush Finland '18. Really cool guy and has done an incredible job growing the business. I'd love to see him collateralize a Tesla- once he actually does it, I'm sure Elon would see it. People in crypto talk A LOT but Stani has walked further than most!

2. DIA.
3. Chainlink
4. Synthetix

Not all DeFi projects are good, many new DeFi projects are here to make money through the hype, in 2017 when ICOs are taking over many new projects showed up and after the bullish trend was finally in the past over 40% of ICO projects turn dead or exit scam, be expecting such now

We will keep seeing new DeFi projects every month now and mind you many of them are complete scam projects, why aren't they released before DeFi hype started? Why now? This is the question I keep asking myself and the only answer I can come up with is to raise money and exit scam, be extremely careful

YMPL is a copy project of AMPL except for the rebase schedule. This kind of coin will not gonna run for long time because it's developer goal is in short term. You should jump out on that coin as soon as possible and DYOR before you buy a coin next time. Don't buy random pumping coin on uniswap or else you will be trap there. There's a lot of DeFi coin with a real use case, You just need to be patient  on searching for it.

I'm very bullish on $SRM token, Project serum is a DEX with a cutting edge feature. This token is under my radar since day 1 of trading in finance. The DEX will launch within this week and the developer behind this project is the creator of FTX exchange which newly acquired blockfolio. This coin is really promising with a bright future.  :D

Over the past week in my portfolio, the highest yield was shown by xDai (Stake). 500% profit in 7 days! https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/xdai/  But it seems that now this token requires a correction and it will be possible to buy a Stake at a better price to continue the rally again.

Btc is always king then later defi and others.
agree on that  . btc will always be but others are not on the level of btc   . defi might be on the news right now but i dont consider it to be the next promising project next to btc  . for me defi will be next after the top rank coins    .

while everyone is in fomo about this defi but i dont know why im still not involved on to it   . well i think this is me  , i am not into new hypes but id rather stay on the coins that are not on hype but has a potential  .

I think the Defi craze is slowly subsiding as what we have seen in some of the Defi base token prices which are already decreasing. by the way, My Defi project that got my interest this week is DIAdata or DIA token, I think this project has a huge potential to succeed because of its important function in the Defi marketplace DIA tokens current trading price is $2.86 not bad for a new listed project.

Mantra Dao $OM has been on my watchlist, since some of the team members are from reputable already existing projects and they keep updates coming through. I bought at around 0.3$ on OKEX and sold at 0.5$. Didn't really want to hold for long term since I limit the number of coins/tokens on my portfolio. AAVE too has been very progressive in uptrend, seeing increased percentage in assets locked in the platform. So many DEFI projects now, hence one might be confused on which to consider for long term. PAYACCEPT too is new, NEXT exchange partner, hoping development progress is great for the project.

5. REN Protocol

We should be more careful around many new DeFi projects of nowadays, they are mostly build to scam investors

Defi has hype like ICO in 2018, and I'm sure it will fall apart in the future. So take advantage of this opportunity to invest in Defi projects, it will bring you a lot of profit. And I am sure that Bitcoin has always been king in this market and that it is the future of the entire market

But Defi's hype is continuing for a very long time and I think it can't be forever. Bitcoin has been standing at the same place for a very long time and everything will depend on its further movement. If it goes down, then the prices for Defi projects will start going down

I was surprised that AAVE overbeat MakerDao and Compound. But if I would take a loan, I will still choose MakerDao because it works since 2015, after 5 years it was proven that it is one of the most secure DeFi in the market.  :)

I do not think that it is wise to keep looking for new defi projects every week, it is better to find reputed projects that have delivered and are successfully running their business models, despite keep looking for new projects that can be highly risky it is better to wait for better entry in established defi tokens.

Nothing last forever, falling apart is a certainty of cause, you can't expect DeFi projects to keep taking the first in crypto space, there is time for everything but I just think that DeFi reign will last longer than that of ICO projects.

haha, I didn't think that a project like Oin Finance could postpone sales, but in fact I think it was postponed not because of a problem on the website, it was because investor interest in the project was very high, causing the tokensale to be postponed.

Let alone, the community hypes up other businesses and brings more attention here than BTC itself, which is great. BTC always comes up in conversation when we talk about new things like DeFi.

Were there no projects with decentralized funding in the past years? There were enough of them. No one called them DeFi. In 2017 and 2018, there were just ICO's for all projects. Later, they started collecting money with the help of IEO.  Now we have switched to the new term collection of investment for DeFi projects. However, the essence remains the same: the development team under the promise to create something promising raises money for the project.
In the desire to invest, I look at the prospects of the project, not whether it belongs to the DeFi or not.

Im more interesting about the project i promote, CorionX. It caught my attention when i follow Binance Telegram AMA session.
The project was mentioned by Syscoin in AMA session several days ago in Binance group telegram, that Syscoin will using CorionX platform as their DeFi platform to drive the usage of stable coins.

oikos and dia at this moment have good hype in market so many investors add this project into their bag. special for DIA , its price move alot from IEO sale and their investors gain much profits. and OIKOS becarefull with your position , i see bounty campaign will end soon and reward will distributed. based on my experience price will make correction due of this. one again DYOR so we take best decision with our investment.

Seeing the price movement from LEND (AAVE) in a few day back I don't I just love to see it. If I compare with another crypto currency even with bitcoin its price movement is more than good. Lately, I traded this coin in binance future and I always compare the price movement with bitcoin if I trade in all altcoin, I mean, I open two bar to see the comparison.

Most altcoin that I traded will always follow the bitcoin's price movement, I mean when bitcoin price up then I will in altcoin prices as well. But now with Lend price movement, it is really different. Even, in most of time bitcoin price movement is follow the lend price movement. I don't know maybe this is just coinsidence, but in a few days back this coin's price was always up.

Trying to do research on new projects, namely Hedget and DeFiner because I think both of them have good potential, especially for DeFiner which implements integration with Chainlink, it's just that for DeFiner I haven't received any information on when their public sale will take place.

I am trying to invest in Oikos and DIA, these are the 2 best Defi projects in my review and their prices are quite cheap. So I have spent more than 30% of my budget investing in these two projects and hope the price can go up in the next few months.
oikos and dia at this moment have good hype in market so many investors add this project into their bag. special for DIA , its price move alot from IEO sale and their investors gain much profits. and OIKOS becarefull with your position , i see bounty campaign will end soon and reward will distributed. based on my experience price will make correction due of this. one again DYOR so we take best decision with our investment.
Well, if bounty is to be distribution I believe the price will quickly fall again. Hopefully it can go down to $ 0.03 and I can buy more and hold. This is a really good project and we would be very profitable holding it in the long term

Beware of new Defi projects on uniswap, many have scammed investors and keep scamming investors, I am extra careful of new Defi projects, at the end, they may cause more harm than good if wisdom is not applied. I am already in Dextools Lids, Swap and few others.

It is the season of DeFi and it is important to ride this innovative wave with the crypto community and not being left behind. I still prefer the low cap DeFis which I believe are not over priced, having concrete innovation to take good amount from the DeFi market size. Oikos Cash, Synthetix, DIA Data, Swap, and Radix are in my portfolio. On the look out for additional ones that meet my criteria.

uniswap is now crowded with a lot of crap projects esp these defi related projects. once this hype is over, i wonder what the future will be for this exchange. and right now, am not really devoting my time to follow these defi platforms as i have the gut feel that most of them will have very short lifespan. maybe some of them can write a very good whitepaper but only few of them will emerge as successful. also dont forget other projects that suddenly rise from their grave and shifted to DeFi.  ::)

From what I read in the article, DeFi innovation is still dominated by lending platforms and stable/pegged coins.

This makes sense as DeFi is still relatively new. Regarding which DeFI projects are on the radar on this week's list I must include Open Predict or or OPT  (https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/open-predict-token), this has only been launched ~ 5-6 days ago and the liquidity is crazy. The price on the other hand seems to have started high indicating this might be going big.  In anyway reading the whitepaper there's scope for this token fo sure.

There wasn't an IEO for DIA. Their token sale was held on mesa, having their own frontend, which was basically called bonding curve sale. The sale actually went on well AMD it showed it's a good innovation. As for Kilos, we cannot yet conclude if the correction will happen as a result of blunt payment.

At the moment I am looking at Ramp Defi, strong team and backers, OTC is selling at 6x+ already, so this one could be a big hit with its initial low market cap. I have also seen some big crypto influences jumping on the Ramp train already, so everything is ready for a moon mission.

Ramp is the Defi project that will open public sale this week, and I hope I can successfully participate in this project. Many expert predictions say that its price will increase by at least 20 times the public sale price.

It can't possibly fall to $ 0.03 mate ... look at the distribution of the bounty for round 1, the price didn't even touch $ 0.03 instead the price went up at that time to $ 0.1

I wasn't able to vote but by looking at the results it is clear that the entire crypto space or more better a good number of users knows what they want, and the coin they regards as the future of the crypto space and that is Bitcoin; to make it more justifiable, the difference in the results is much.
There is no doubt, Defi projects idea is good but the question still remains, will the team behind these projects stick to the main idea what drove them into developing it in the first place?. In the crypto space today, most people will be in one Defi project, and once another comes up, they abandon the current one they are into and focus on the new one and the circle continues. So indirectly, they only care about profits which when gotten they keep or store it in Bitcoin but not on the Defi project, why? Because they trust Bitcoin much more and are sure of their asset.
Lastly, Defi projects are good but they need to do more to sustain their users.

when there is a good project like this it feels very unlikely if the price collapses, but when there is no support at all there are no investors who enter and buy the DeFi project it will also make the price collapse, because the price movements of all cryptocurrencies that exist depend on the interaction between buyers and seller at the exchange.

Nothing last forever, falling apart is a certainty of cause, you can't expect DeFi projects to keep taking the first in crypto space, there is time for everything but I just think that DeFi reign will last longer than that of ICO projects.

I agree with you, and there is nothing last forever because with the emergence of an alternative system and this system has achieved successes, So the investors automatically turn to it despite its risks, and the hype turns to it, and it becomes the talk of the people. any DeFi project or other may fail if this project does not have an expert team in its management But with time, if this project does not achieve its goals, it is better to leave it.

DeFi is still evolving and they are getting a lot of fo supports from investors and the community this is why the network is clogging because of to many transactions in the DeFi projects, I guess they are going to be part of the future of Cryptocurrency unless we see major hacks in the smart contract of this DeFi projects.

After Mantra DAO huge success (though for short term price hike) same team members pushed another project RioDefi. Only difference is this time RioDefi had 20m initial marketcap at public sale price which was unreasonable for such project and 200m valuation considering 1b total supply. Project can't be judged solely on price but fundraising must not be more than required. It cause loss to investors as seen in RFUEL (riodefi native token) case. Project looks good but how team move on it will decide its destiny.

For long term i am still exploring options in defi but still thinks we should give it time to see how it goes, currently hype is more than belief on DEFI.

I have been following GEO from GeoDB, especially the GEO-ETH pair on Uniswap. They have been successfully crowdfunding through the Crowdcube and Seedrs platform in the UK raising over Ģ4m. Their testnet has already generated more than 50k wallets. The team is excellent and I have been following the project through the Telegram also. They launched their DeFi yield farming recently with great returns... I hope it helps!  ;D

Looking at most DeFi projects today and their current prices as well, can someone be really motivated to hold them? Also, it is not even holding or investing in any of them is the issue but however, the issue is, if their prices can come up in a courageous way again but it also shows that only good DeFi projects will come out strong amidst the unfavorable market. In addition, in as much as Defi potential is very good hence it can be said to be with us for a while but this can only work when investors starts going for the good projects while ignoring those that have nothing to offer than hype.
Nevertheless, no Defi project is under my radar however the coins under my radar are Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Its exchange really looks good. Second is DIA which is a decentralized information asset, an oracle platform. Let us see where it will go in the near future.

The price of the coin depends upon market players. However, the action take place when there is a good new or catalyst of the coin. It will never be pumped unless there is a PnD in that coin or the chart looks good. When a certain coin collapse, it probably made a mistake under its development or the mainnet has delays. The market is really based in fundamentals. Because only catalyst pushes the price of a coin.

DeFi projects are so underrated! I was researching on YouTube and found the channel that explains what is DeFi, possible future of it and perspectives. Those guys from PeakDeFi opened my eyes, DeFi will be so popular in a couple years, so better invest now. All we have to do is to look for great promising projects, invest and hodl!
PeakDefi is a cool one, their PEAK will be launched on OKEX and BSC staking, so now is the best time to join.
