Title: Bitcoin transaction unconfirmed since 8 hours
Post by: fentanyl08 on August 25, 2020, 03:06:20 PM
Hello! I sent a $2 worth bitcoin transaction from my blockchain.info wallet and set the fee to the recommended "Regular" but the transaction is still unconfirmed since 8 hours https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/ec135ab9221318121a1994598425886f126a7101438a8b9a563c83628400205e
Is there any way to get this confirmed?

The mempool has been spiking periodically today. If the trend persists, you should have the transaction confirmed within a day or two.

A little advice, don't use Blockchain.info wallet. They are pretty unreliable in terms of fee estimates and is generally a bad wallet to use. Legacy addresses results in you paying a higher total fee as compared to a bech32 wallet. Try looking for alternatives like Bitcoin Core or Electrum.

The mempool is quite filled right now.
To have a transaction confirmed within the next hours, a fee roughly 10x higher is necessary.

Since RBF is disabled, you can not simply replace the transaction with a new one.
However, if you are in control of either 3KmJRzcoUYNy96jPZjtjsMd1akKtfVAMjW or 18nMCYpPe9W7FWFaCEgt983b5van2Q4rg4, you can spend that new unconfirmed output with a fee high enough to pay for both transactions.

This will confirm both of your transactions at the same time.
But since the overall value of the transaction is ~5$, it really is not worth it.

RBF would have been a cheaper option. I would recommend you to stop using blockchain.com.
Use a proper wallet. Not a web wallet. You could have chosen an appropriate fee easily and would have been able to bump the fee.

1. The fee is so low according to the current stat of mempool - https://mempool.space. It's at only 3 sats/byte.  You might have to wait for over 24 hours or beyond for the transaction to get confirmed

2.  Your transaction is not Replace-by-fee (RBF) enabled so it won't be possible to bump the fee for it to get confirmed quicker.
